My n-word. I remember seeing this on the codex years ago, pretty sure the heroic last stand vibe got me into 40k. Also, that servitor with the hammer.

...

>conflict
>large scale
>garish colours on top of a dark atmosphere
>grim and gritty details
>guns flaring and explosions at the back
>the central figure is solemn and posing for the shot despite being in action
>MY NAME IS HUGE

give me more of this kind of shit

More Adrian Smith coming right up.

...

One of my favorite things about Smith is that he makes all the different aesthetics of the races feel like they fit in the same universe. Check it.

I bought The Art of Adrian Smith about fourteen years ago. Beautiful book. I have no idea where it is right now but his art pretty much defined 40k for me.

The light from the gun makes the IG looks like he has a nice ass.

And finally, the GOAT piece of Warhammer 40k art.

Personal favorite of mine.

I need more AoD style Chain-Hands in my SM army.

Well if nothing else that leaves me feeling confident that I could get a gig illustrating for GW

...

this, right here, is what completes the picture for me

...

...

>Arbites will never get new models and rules
>Shira will never be a special character

Them feels, nice character as well

...

>tfw you got into 40k in 4th edition as a wee kid
>tfw seeing all these great bits of art is just hitting you with wave after wave of nostalgia
>tfw you'll never see the likes of it again

Fuck, beat me to it.

and yes, I was overjoyed

...

Holy shit. How have I never seen this before. This is fucking awesome.

How HAVE you never seen that before, it was a codex cover my dude

...

...

...

I don't know why, but I find this so cool to look at

black library is so going to ruin that part of the horus heresy

...

from 3rd edition which was 12/9 years ago and the art wasn't reused in anything. so it's easy to miss

i've always liked this image of Khaine

Thought it said "Jewfellow pools."

I liked the story from the old tau codex to that picture. Where they were stupid enough to exchange troops to the dark eldar, or something like that

...

I did a thing

''Once more The Prophets of Flesh of Urien Rakarth agreed to aid the Tau. Battling the Tyranids alongside Tau Fire Warriors, the Dark Eldar deployed a new weapon: long-limbed Grotesques that moaned in despair as they hacked through the Tyranid horde. After six days of carnage the Tau and insidious creations of Rakarth were victorious. However a terrible suspicion began to dawn. Vid-captures from Tau Drones showed that the Grotesques of Rakarth were of a blue-grey coloration all too familiar to the Tau''.

...

They would make terribly bad grotesques since tau are weaker than humans.

I always thought that the Daemon Prince's pauldron was his face.

This and that picture of Vostroyans vs Tau from the Apocalypse book (I think).

Best pic I found of that is this one

If anyone has a better pic, it'd be appreciated if it was posted

Beat me to it

Saw this on the cover of a friend's WD in the mid 90s and I knew this shit was for me.

...

>September 1997

Shit. I've been into Warhammer for almost 20 years.

this box art is what made me decide to go tau.

Is there a studlier individual than Commissar Ciaphas Cain?

There's so much great 40k art.

Is the fire thing the warp?

...

...

Commissar Tibrum.

definitely a tear in reality.

...

Underrated

dis one

I love the real look of your picture. I wish this artist would have made more art for 40k.

Maybe not as smug, look at that fucking smirk.

This has always been my favourite, the dreadnought that's about to turn around and pulp the Eldar shooting pesky shurikens at it always makes me smile.

This

I play and enjoy Sigmar but the universe and art style are retarded, I like the game because a disabled person could play it and it's great for low effort, quick games but fucking hell, couldn't we just get it as a new ruleset for the old world?

There's so much shit left to explore there, Stormcast could be those Golems the chinese nation has and a the new dwarves can easily be bullshited in along with more trees.

But nah, let's discontinue a setting with so much depth in favour of something that has clearly had 0 effort put into it. So few people give a shit about it's lore we don't even have a proper wiki for it.

I never even played WHFB for anyone who's going to complain about me being some salty grognard, I've got around 4k points of death and a small Freeguild army going so I'm not some kind of AOS hater.

Nope because you aren't the daughter of the art director.

and the first one i saw when it arrived at my local RPG shop

I always loved this piece because it made me feel like they were storming some kind of a trench and it's from the perspective of a defeated warrior inside it, looking up at the ranger and accepting his fate.

Damn, can we dump more admech? I never picked up their codex and stuck to pure Skitarii and I clearly missed out.

{Terminator Music intensifies}

More like the retarded bastard son he had with his sister

Deldar would probably just pump them full of space-steroids for the kicks of watching them kill their own kind.

Most of my favs have been posted already, but this one is pretty high up there

Source on the Google map?

Also it mades me realize how accurate is the Total War map.
