first for
BENIS :-DDDDDDDD

Thanks, but I need some work... Like I said, for my next batch i'm going to paint the frames of the trays light brown, so if I miss any spots with flock, It'll look better than just having the black peek through.

Previous thread btw:

If I was doing a model for something like a Mister Rogers Neighborhood type show where it was going to be shown as if it was an outdoor shot even though it would never fool anyone, what would I do differently? I assume things like edge highlighting no longer work and a lot of techniques would be equally unhelpful.

Rate my IW chaos lord

Put my crew on my basisilk, so it's finally finished.

R8 m8s

Looks interesting... I'll be able to judge it better when primed. Only complaint is the helm looks a bit plain for a lord...especially with all the elaborate fancy shit you did with the rest of the armour.

o.0 Is that Captain American's own personal Cannon?

What

Nearly there. Just a bit of work on the seal, sort the base out and I think I might be done.

Nah.

Greyjoy=best house

...

...

So as far as basic ground troops go, how's this look for tabletop quality (the gap aside)? I think I might highlight the horns, but I might wait until all units are at this level to do it first.

...

Now, put it on a boat

Squid looks nice, but as per usual with these things the gold ends up looking flat and plastic-y on the knight. You need a good amount of gradual shading/highlighting or some other form of color modulation to make that paint work on so large surfaces.

paint looks nice, but i don't like the fucked up barrel

Has anyone used Rustoleum Color+Primer for minis?

homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Painter-s-Touch-2X-12-oz-Satin-Paprika-General-Purpose-Spray-Paint-249068/100670404

I'm trying to paint tyranids, picture related.

Also, I was in Michaels and noticed that they had their "Tiny treasures" merchandise on sale. It's designed for cute dioramas, but there's some flock and gravel that's perfect for the grim dark future.

I've tried rustoleum a couple of times. Avoid it, it goes on too thickly. If you're gonna go for cheap primers I would go with Krylon

Got some bases done last night.

Ebay salvage

What do you guys think of my hammerhead

Trying to build some Aggressors at the moment, I hate whoever designed this kit, it's really going to be annoying to make it in sub assemblies

what the fuck is going on, you decided to make your Tau hippies?

The Krylon matte line is fantastic for a one-spray primer and costs 1/5 what GW Chaos Black does.

...

Strip it, actually prime it this time and thin your paints, I guess.

I'm assuming this is secondhand.

For the greater good man

dude seriously why did you do this.

Well I like what I see here for my wings. Now to do a layer of slannesh grey and a wash.

And some touching up of course

This was actually a childhood paint job I found at a friend's house while we were painting.

This is what I actually just finished

>insert maximus quote here

Definitely thought my Flamebelcha would be bigger but I still love him, great model to put together. Now I gotta figure out the Howdah.... any ideas....

I'm definitely procrastinating finishing these guys to avoid painting the metal bits on these guys. I want more wall bits now. I think they look nicer flying over obstacles.

What's a good way to paint scorching and exhaust soot on the jets?

So cut off the tip or fix it. It would be the easiest thing in the world.

That yellow looks grainy....

Trial scheme for carcharodon successors. Feedback?

Fuck. Its not just me, then. I think the heat might have boned me.

added the claw arm

How long can I leave miniatures in super clean before they turn into plastic stew?

Nice. Not too garish. I'd paint the body of the power pack the same as the legs and torso, just to stop the power pack looking like a black blob though. Leave the vents as is.

That bolter looks very operator-ish in that scheme. Looking good.

Disappointed, was excepting to get this guy done today after not being able to paint for a week but the highlighting on the armor and belt took me much longer than I wanted it to. Will have the rest hopefully done tomorrow but I am unsure if I want to put this level of work into all my Primaris.

best looking lamenter i've seen on here, if you get a whole army done like that it'll be amazing

How do avoid brushstrokes when brush priming? I've recently picked up some Vallejo primer because Texas has about 2 months out of the year where you can spray prime outside with no issues(Late March-early April and late October-early November). Airbrush is not an option for me currently.

Thin ya paints

thin primer just like with all other paints

I've done it with water and it leaves a horrible finish on the model and in places where it pools the primer starts cracking.

If this was ten dollars cheaper i'd buy it

You're either using too much water or your water is too hard to use for thinning

I do have some liquitex flow-aid, but it did just about the same thing as the water. Should I dilute it, too?

Made some progress on my plague marines, finished 2 more and I'm making progress on n°4 and 5

Here's 1/2

Did you make an offer?

and 2/2

And on top of that, I've seen things that say NOT to thin the primer because it fucks with it.

How bad of a idea is metallic silver eldar?

use medium

You guys were right. I got rid of the face with rebreather and forehead cut, and replaced it with this. I think it's a big improvement, and looks a lot more like an imperial fist.

Nigga you went back into 1992 childhood and smoked some oshkosh didn't you

Still not sure how to paint the sword. An user said to paint it metallic blue, another said to paint it black with green lightning, and a friend proposed sharpened bone color with dried blood. Neither are bad, but neither speaks to me. Any other ideas?

oh yeah, that looks way way better.

If I might suggest though, consider doing the stubble on the head by mixing your flesh color 1:1 with the hair color and watering it down a bunch, then applying it very thinly on the scalp. Eyes look awesome btw and I really like the pink scar. Not sure why I never thought to paint a scar like that before to have it stand out.

Paint it with this.

A nice blazing orangey fire blade would be nice though.

Imperial Assault player coming from /swg/. Anybody here have input on urban-style basing in Star Wars like Coruscant? I have a couple Red Guards Where I painted the bases black and gave two of them a red glaze and two of them a blue glaze for the feel of Palp's throne room.

Just bought a Space Marine captain. Best way to kit him out? i play iron hands.

As a follow-up, all of my Cloud City Wing Guards and Lando have white bases with clear glaze. I want a distinction between Cloud City and generic urban.

I bought an electric drill for magnetizing and things, but realized that this shit might be dangerous when I hold resin/plastic parts with my fingers. Is there any tool/stand that holds small bits firmly? What is that called?

A clamp?

>How bad of a idea is metallic silver eldar?

I've seen it done poorly, and it looked like crap.

Ty, The power pack is done half and half. I just dont have an image right now.
Should I go for some Maori tattoos? I'm from NZ and i think I could do it justice.

>>How bad of a idea is metallic silver eldar?
>I've seen it done poorly, and it looked like crap.

Although this looked pretty cool.

it all depends on how well you can paint. a good painter can make anything look good.

Apparently (bench) vise would be a thing I was looking for. But thanks

>tfw you will never be able to blend this well

I appreciate what you did with the barrel, honestly. Looks good!

With wolf guard terminators being more viable now along with being heavily variable I decided to rip the arms off of all mine, magnetize them then scrounge together every spare shoulder pad I could find to get a more weapon options for them

For starters I've got the standard melee in a land raider loadout

Deep striking, combi madness suicide squad load out (sure hope I made the right choice going plasma instead of melta)

Just finished my first primaris marines.

Along with the bonus of being able to customize them individually if they're going to be leading a squad of infantry, most of the options went towards my heavy weapon specialist who maybe providing more missile support for my long fangs

Thoughts on my kit bashed cyclone?

Getting ready to start on my Iron Hands Primaris.

Wheree do you get these

>helmetless primaris
disgusting

When a model just comes out right

damn these look smooth... well done on the cleaness here...

>Anybody here have input on urban-style basing in Star Wars like Coruscant?

I have some models meant to stand on the battlements of Imperial structures for 40K. To represent that they are on a metal surface, I base them using cut out sections of solar window screen material.

So I just finished with these bases. My question is... they have little bits of rock and lots of gravel I've glued on..and I use foam transport cases and even from me just picking them up and normal wear and movement, how do you guys avoid them from chipping and the rocks coming off?

It seems like they're going to be constantly 'shedding' the gravel and rocks as I move them around...is there like a spray seallent or something?

folks always give marine players flak but kitbashes like that are one of the big reasons why theyre the most collected army, looks great

what chapter?

homebrew, Bearers of Light, now with chapter master

Thx. it's hard for me since i live in a basement and it constantly rains dust so smootheness is rare for me.

Fisher Price Tau

You're in a basement, where dust is falling from the ceiling constantly? What, are you in a secret bunker during siege bombardment or something?
>if so that's amazingly mood fitting

Live in my parents basement. It's an old house.

>wash brush in whiskey
>sip paint water

ha, no worries, I live in my folk's attic...much brighter thought and temps are ok.

Any advice on this

>drinking whilst painting
How? I cant keep anything steady after more than a beer. Are you just old scotsman alcohol tolerance, or chinese drunken master levels of brush steadyness?

Love the scar and damaged cloudy eye.

Thats actually surprising user, since alcohol is something of an advantage when it comes to steadying hands.

As in, considered a performance enhancing drug in shooting contests level of steadying.

How would you guys go about making a fat chaos worm thing (kind of like an elongated jabba the hut) with a baby doll face.
I want it to be largish and sitting on a chaos shrine throne thing attended to by cherubs. Anyone have any tips using largely GW models, or tips on doing it in general.

depending on your skills with greenstuff, use an actual doll head, make the body primarily out of fimo and greenstuff with a tin foil core, and kitbash the whole thing. Otherwise raid forgeworld nurgle pieces.
