Self bump to keep thread alive

>How many posters here are also 501st members?

I'm not, though I have considered joining the rebel equivalent once or twice.

>tfw a little short to be a storm trooper

I wonder how many lads in real 501st regiments joke about being in the 501st legion.

Should the last 12 pts in a Scum list with a Jumpmaster be used for title or a Binyare Pirate (assuming no M-3A)?

Never been a super frequent poster, but I feel like these thread used to be faster.

*s

That depends on the topic. Posters here hate talking about the RPGs mechanically because they're terrified of supporting/being accused of powergaming, but you'll have a whole bunch of posters jump in instantly if you try to talk shit about something unrelated to gaming, like the old books or just how the force works /really/.

It's pretty dumb, in my opinion. Why have a thread on a games board if you don't like talking about how the game works? Just deal with power gamers when they show up at your own table.

I've considered joining the UK Garrison, but have held off due to the cost of doing the costume I'd want to do.

So, for an EotE campaign set after the OT, what is the best material to draw upon from the Imperial remnants era?

How far after?

Yoda origin story when?

I think he's better without one, to be honest.

Anywhere from a few years to a few decades really, but I'm willing to condense canon events into timeframes convenient for my campaign if necessary.

A few years after would be the easiest for you. Everyone would be mostly flying the same ships and there would be tons of old imperial surplus available (like after WWII how the French used Panthers for a bit and Spain and Israel used !Bf 109s). If you do a few decades after you're basically on your own, in terms of statting things.

That won't stop Disney. There's money to be made, damn it.

If they really wanted to make money they'd make a movie about the mandalorian wars.

Right, but what I meant in my original question was, what are the best parts of canon regarding the Imperial remnants era that I could draw on for adventures and the like?

That said though, are there any recommendations for a good starting ship for the party besides the three recommended in the EotE corebook? They didn't like the idea of driving around a Millennium Falcon, or the appearance of the Firespray. I need to check the last option, but if anyone else has recommendations that would be nice too.

The party can pick any ship that you approve that costs under 120.000 credits (see first paragraph in Step 10), so they could start in anything from SoroSuub Luxury 3000 space yacht to a G9 Rigger youtube.com/watch?v=6j8uESuu2zg .

Oddly enough, the imperial plotline from Darksaber is actually a pretty neat look at the imperial warlords

You mean Legends or nucanon?

Always Legends. Thanks to all for their input.

Bit of a random query: does anyone have any good images of a holoprojector or a holographic projection lying around? I was looking for one and didn't find any that looked very nice.

Adding on, consider the Kappa-class shuttle (Desperate Allies p.63).

The title, you don't need that extra torp slot anyway

That's perfect! Thank you!

Love it.

One of the dumbest things BF2 did was putting 501st sleeper cells in every clone unit and implying that it was their actions that initiated order 66

Like they're already the most elite legion in the republic and Vader's personal troops, you don't need to make them any more special snowflake than that

Snoke is an entirely new character. He's not anyone we've seen in any of the movies.

Not an autist, your Snoke theory just sucks (like pretty much all of them do)

Dark greetings.

Not a new character. Not Snoke.

Lighten up, user, at this point, we're all just poking fun at the Snoke theories. A Trioculus reveal would still undoubtedly be way more entertaining than whatever the film team has planned for his backstory.

I'm not in the 501st, too overrated. I'd be your average stormtrooper, badass by default and not relying on crazy reputaiton.

This is not the official FAQ as far as I know, but what do you guys think of my idea for balance changes?

I'm mostly focusing on the nerfs, as buffs can come later. The constable RAW does some funky shit, so I've re-worded him.

Proposed balance changes-
Nerfs-
Biggs now reads “When another friendly ship at range 1 of you is defending, it may roll an additional defense die.”
Sabine now reads “Your upgrade bar gains the bomb upgrade icon. Once per round at the end of the activation phase before a friendly bomb token is removed, choose 1 enemy ship at Range 1 of that token. That ship suffers 1 damage.”
Advanced Slam now reads “After performing a SLAM action, if you did not overlap an obstacle or another ship, you may perform an action listed on your action bar as a free action”
Twin Laser Turret now reads “ATTACK (Target Lock): Perform this attack twice (even against a ship outside your firing arc). Each time this attack hits, the defender suffers 1 damage. Then cancel all dice results.”
Guidance Chips now reads “Once per round, when attacking with a Torpedo or Missile secondary weapon, you may change 1 die result to a focus result”
Bomblet Generator now reads “If you are not stressed when you reveal your maneuver, you may drop 1 bomblet token and receive 1 stress token. This token detonates at the end of the Activation phase.”
Attani Mindlink is now a 2-dot unique card (restricted to two ships per list)
Contracted Scout- Remove the Salvaged Astromech, Illicit, one Torpedo, and Elite Pilot Talent upgrade symbols from your upgrade bar.
Manaroo, Tel Trevura, and Dengar- Remove one Torpedo, the Salvaged Astromech, and Illicit upgrade slots from your upgrade bar.
Punishing one now reads “JumpMaster 5000 Only. Title. Increase your primary weapon value by 1. Add the Salvaged Astromech and Illicit symbols to your upgrade bar. Remove 1 Torpedo symbol to your upgrade bar.”

Con't below.

more nerfs-

Lok Revenant- Remove the Elite Pilot talent upgrade slot from your upgrade bar.
Cruise Missiles now read “ATTACK (TARGET LOCK): Discard this card to perform this attack. You may roll additional attack dice equal to the speed of the maneuver you executed this round, to a maximum of 3 additional dice.”
R3-A2 now reads “When you declare the target of your attack, if the defender is inside your firing arc and you are not stressed, you may receive 1 stress token to cause the defender to receive 1 stress token.”
K4 Security Droid now reads “After executing a green maneuver, if you did not overlap a ship or an obstacle, you may acquire a target lock.”
R2-D2 (Astromech) now reads “After executing a green maneuver, if you have no shields, you may recover 1 shield.
R5-P9 now reads “At the end of the Combat phase, if you have no shields, you may spend 1 of your focus tokens to recover 1 shield”
Miranda Doni now reads “Once per round when attacking, you may either spend 1 shield to roll 1 additional attack die or if you have no shields, roll 1 fewer attack die to recover 1 shield.”
Kylo Ren (crew) now reads “ACTION: Assign the "I'll Show You the Dark Side" Condition card to an enemy ship at Range 1-3. Then receive one stress token”

Buffs-
New cards-
Flexible Fighter-
Title- Rebel Alliance only. X-wing only. When defending, you may change one blank result to a focus result. You may equip an additional modification upgrade card. 0 points.
Interceptor Training-
Title- TIE Interceptor Only. You may equip one “Push the Limit” upgrade card, decreasing its point cost by 3. You may equip an additional title upgrade. 0 points.
Expanded Munitions Banks-
Title- TIE Punisher Only. When you equip this card, place 1 Munitions token on one of your equipped Torpedo or Missile Upgrade cards. When you are instructed to discard an Upgrade card with a Munitions token on it, do not discard it. 4 points.

Con't again below.

More buffs-

Red Squadron Pilot- Add an Elite Pilot Talent symbol to your upgrade bar.
Lieutenant Lorrir now reads “When performing a barrel roll action, you may use the [Bank Left 1] or [Bank Right 1] template instead of the [Straight 1] template”
Storm Squadron Pilot- Add an Elite Pilot Talent symbol to your upgrade bar.
Horton Salm- Add an Elite Pilot Talent symbol to your upgrade bar.
Garven Dreis- Add an Elite Pilot Talent symbol to your upgrade bar.
Onyx Squadron Escort- Add an Elite Pilot Talent symbol to your upgrade bar.
All Firespray-31 pilots- Add the Barrel Roll action to your action bar.

Clarifications/unrelated-
Constable Zuvio now reads “When you reveal a reverse maneuver, you may perform a Bomb Upgrade card action as a free action. When you reveal a reverse maneuver, when dropping a bomb, you may use the front guides of your ship.

What do you guys think? would this be a more level/open meta? I've tried to hammer pretty much every single NPE and meta powerhouse down.

Needs an EPT for Hobbie, too. The man survived Hoth and Endor and the card art shows him on Adumar. You'd think by that point in time, he'd be an elite pilot and worthy of a better PS, too.

>Interceptor title
Wouldn't that make Baron Fel too good? Or is he too expensive to take in the current Imperial meta?

OH YEAH!

My focus was mostly on the nerfs, not the buffs.

Hobbie actually might not be fair with an EPT and the title- Run Targeting Astro, he can 4k, get a lock, dump the stress, and take a focus to be tanky with just the title- He could do it constantly with PTL if he had an EPT. For similar reasons, I didn't want to give Kir Kanos an EPT- he could potentially end up being very strong.

The Interceptor title was due to the fact that anyone not named soontir was useless- now they can at least be good jousters. It also opens up build flexibility for everyone that actually had an EPT. Soontir still dies to 2 autoblaster shots, or a bomb, or a block, so it's not that big of a deal.

Is that a phantom with the cockpit replaced with a turbolaser?

This.

On that note, I may have an unpopular opinion in that I really don't want a young Han Solo movie

Just a wing section of Fractal's new TIE, but it is a turbolaser!

Bit of a quick art dump, a sexified X-wing

Bounty hunter's ship, at some point an enterprising hunter really should get a bigger ship with a carbon freezer section they can just rack and stack em in

Ugly. Ugly as sin. I didn't think it could get any worse than the TFA X-wing but boy was I wrong.

I like the hotrod, manta ray look to this ship, not the best illustration but there's some potential to the design

Even the younglings?

Young Han is going to be ass, if the boring fanservice of Rogue "AT-STs STAR DESTROYERS I'M GONNA CUUUUUUUM" One is any indication

>that canopy
And I thought Y-wing pilots had it tough. Can't see diddly with that cockpit setup.

Sorry but what fanservice?

Let's be honest; Star Wars ships have never really given a shit about visibility.

They shoehorned at-ats pretty hard. Also, Vader at the end was objectively fanservice, it means more than just anime beach episodes, you know.

Let's be real here. They got really lazy with snoke's design.

Vader, okay, sure, but the AT-ATC seemed pretty reasonable to me?

Cockpit visibility is a non-priority when you have a 360 degree sphere of sensor coverage that feeds into a tracker screen on your HUD.

darn forgot my pic.

But user, something set during the civil war shouldnt have anything from the civil war in it!
That's fanservice!

X-WINGS AS WELL AS TIE FIGHTERS

Unless your sensors get fucked by ion cannons, atmospherics, ECM, or general combat damage.

There's literally no reason to have a cargo AT-AT, a repuslor sled does that job 1000 times better, and in addition to that, there's no reason to have an AT-AT on a planet with a nearly invulnerable planetary shield. The AT-AT was only there to sell toys and hype people.

>All terrain armored transport
>No reason to transport on a world with difficult terrain
aight

>no reason to have an AT-AT on a planet with a nearly invulnerable planetary shield
>nearly invulnerable planetary shield
>Rebels still manage to deploy ground forces
Better to have and not need than need and not have.

>Thinking a shield means you don't need weapons

Someone's gunning for a career in the Imperial Navy I see.

>implying repuslorlifts have an issue with sandy beaches

Armored vehicles like that are offensive weapons, not defensive weapons. All the Imperials needed to do was close the door when the alarms started blaring or when the enemy was identified instead of waiting for the rebels to drop out of hyperspace and it would've been a non-issue. Not to mention that those AT-ATs weren't even there for the defense of the planet, they were there to haul cargo, which, as stated, is a shit job for a walker when even ratty ass farmers in the outer rim can afford levitation magic.

>The AT-AT was only there to sell toys
You know if they replaced it with a repulsorcraft they'd just be selling toys of the repulsorcraft instead right?

Only if the repulsorcraft had guns and were involved in the fighting. There's a reason countries don't use AFVs for cargo hauling in the real world.

>Implying you can't make use of offensive weapons during defensive operations.

You absolutely can, but why put an offensive weapon where it could only ever be fighting defensively?

You do know that a base is a handy place to keep your weapons stored in between campaigns?

That's irrelevant, considering those AT-ACTs weren't in storage. Their whole job was cargo hauling on Scarif.

What does that have to do with selling toys

They used AT-ATs because they wanted to sell toys and cargo hauling was their half-assed excuse for them being there. If they used a sensible vehicle for cargo hauling that wasn't wasting power toting around armor and guns all the time instead of cargo there would have been no toys.

You know what else doesn't make sense? Building a Death Star

Star Wars has always been about selling toys and being rad as hell, don't be butthurt just because you can't enjoy things anymore

>implying it doesn't make sense to want to destroy your enemies and everyone they know and everyone who knows anyone they know, especially if you're a maniac corrupted by evil itself

You liked the AT-ACTs because they were fanservice. You were serviced. There's no shame in enjoying it, only in not admitting it was what it was.

Hey looks like you're full of shit

You don't think there is any situation at all, which the Imperial Military would encounter and in which an AT-ACT would come in handy? Because once you purchase the vehicles for those situations it makes sense to use them for other operations as well to simplify logistics. There are literally millions of reasons why one might use less than optimal equipment in a military operation.

It's not as if real-life militaries don't do silly things, either. A cargo-hauling monkey model AT-AT is hardly the most retarded thing to ever show up in any real or fictional military. There could be any number of easy in-universe explanations for it. Maybe Kuat lobbyists have the Imperial Army brass in their pockets. Maybe some jackass in logistics shipped AT-ACT hulls to Scarif by accident, or maybe someone ordered AT-ATs and logistics forgot to install the armor and troop-carrying accommodations. Maybe the Empire wants to make sure that weird atmospherics and shield fuckery (which apparently can interfere with repulsorlifts) don't stop the troops from getting deliveries of porn, MREs, hash chunks, and Krayt dragon dildos.

Fuck now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense to choose the AT-ACT as a cargo hauler on Scarif even if you have alternatives to choose from.

What is Scarif? Its an installation that contains tons of top secret stuff. When you need to transport stuff from the landing pad to the installation your top priority is not hauling efficiency, its security. What could be more secure than an AT-ACT, which is basically a giant walking safe? Its also a walker on an island, so if it gets hijacked it can't escape with its cargo unlike a dangerous repulsorlift vehicle.

Plus they can wade through shallow water, maybe repulsors act like hoverboards in BTTF 2 on water

No, the Imperial Navy thinks that if you have weapons you don't need shields.

Yeah, but spaceships are weird in SW with basically a lack of anything resembling conventional physics or common sense, a lack of visibility is just part of the fun

Then there's this guy who reckons his custom built gunnery mount for his AT-ST is going to turn up in time for us stepping off!

How this for a d6 campaign?

After the battle of Jakku, the Imperial Remnent is forced inside the zone proscribed by the treaty. However the core and inner rim needs goods which are blocked by the Cold War between the remnant and New Republic. That where the players come in as smugglers.

A bit basic but nothing wrong with it

>What is Scarif? Its an installation that contains tons of top secret stuff.
That was only a small, small part of it. Most of the planet was mining and large scale ship building. The AT-ACTs weren't there for the data trove.

At the same time there's a massive underworld re-ordering going on. So there could be a lot of vendettas and power-plays between crims going on that could effect them (along with the NR cracking skulls).

im pretty peeved at ffg and disney for making rogue one and dropping it so quickly. they could have capitalized on this new cannon they made in the destruction of the old stuff, but they completly snubbed us.

>and dropping it so quickly
What did you expect was going to happen to the guys who stole the Death Star plans? Even in Legends, many of the people involved in the theft died horribly.

they could have expanded edge of the empire by giving us a birth of rebellion and/or growing empire books that could reorganize the seedy underground style of a rebellion, as well as giving us a bunch of "surplus" clonewars stuff. they could have released great splatbooks to really open up the preOT era without falling into the old saga edition trap of overlapping and over building certain events and overwriting yourself too much.

yea EotE and AoR cover some of this stuff, but it could easily fill some of the early rebellion and imperial solidification gaps left lying around.

if they even used this time to give us some galaxy building cannon to help flesh out what the hell is happening. talk about the early rebel sabateurs and the early subjugations going on for christ sakes.

give us names, dates, places, events, and kyle katarn please... just give us kyle

and biggs died over yavin, so did garvin. being dead doesnt mean shit if you look cool. xwing loves dead aces. give us more than the uwing. i need more blue squadron and even more tie stuff than the single new model we got from the two releases.

ffg had so much potential for dead, but cool pilots that they seemingly ignored. they decided that the movie flopped for whatever reason with the starwars community and it seemingly got dropped.

Oh I have little doubt we'll be getting an aces box. Keep in mind its only been about 8 months since then, they've had to plan the next wave, playtest it and doublecheck against any new rules changes they've planned or have been planning. It'll be rebel veterans and release around wave XII.

That movie released like six seconds ago settle.

We still don't have a crew card for Obi-Wan, and nobody's saying he got dropped like a sack of potatoes.

Time and place is all we're waiting on.

>More T-65 pilots
As much as I love the old girl, she's not going to be an optimal sell. The product catalog is already saturated with stuff connected to the X-wing series of fighters (core sets, the expansion blisters, CR90). Another T-65 release would likely be met with a resounding meh, even if it does bring much-needed nerfs and buffs. There are also plenty of existing ships (Ex. Rebel Z-95, Rebel Y-wing, E-wing) still in need of new material, as well as a mountain of Legends and upcoming Sequel Trilogy craft to sort through. Sequel Trilogy stuff will inevitably be higher priority, since their greater exposure means greater potential sales. Rogue One X-wing pilots are inevitable, but they're probably not as high a priority right now. FFG can't simply cook up new ships on a whim. There's production schedules, playtesting, bureaucracy, rules changes, and communications with Disney and Lucasfilm.

moving to ffg's next mouse contract, why have we not seen any of the movie characters released as imperial assault heroes? they could release an entire scariff facility pack with maptiles and everything. they have released hera and chopper as playable, and they arent even the COMBAT characters of their series. they are the Support cast.

and it works both ways. where are my scarrif defense troopers in the bitching desert ss tan? where is that tank thing they bagdhad boogaloo in the movie? we have fucking hoth in game now, and it isnt even the actual battle, its RETURN to hoth. fucking tropical paradise tiles sound bitching, and is also an excuse to expand the limited range of the imperial facility tileset.

I've been unable to play X Wing for almost a year due to being to busy with work and study, and I've got no idea what the meta is like now and what new ships come with that cards. Anybody know what a decent Imperial list looks like nowadays?

If nothing else, maybe it's just becuase if a repulsorlift vehicle breaks down over deep water, cograts, its gonna sink.
If the AT-ACT breaks down in deep water, oh hey, it's still standing there just fine so you can get repairs and replacements to it.

And then you also have AT-ATs on hand if shit kicks off.

It's a bit chaotic now, since wave 11 is two weeks old, and someone leaked a prototype FAQ last week.

Vader with VI, Title, ATC, Engine, and Cruise Missile is looking pretty good though.

I wouldn't mind a few more niche pilots like wes and hobbie. But I do get what you're saying. The t-65 really isn't in a terrible spot it's just generally outclassed and it's already got a fair amount of love from FFG. I'd like to see some blue squadron pilots just to have some new, fun little causal toys to play with in a shiny new paint job.

Personally, I think a battle of scariff expansion that has a whole mess of ships would be cool. New striker pilots, new TIE/ln pilots, y-wing pilots, T-65 pilots. Plus just a bunch of cool upgrades like new astromechs, maybe a TIE/ln title.
I'm disappointed that FFG hasn't put out a scariff set not because I want it to fix things, just because I think it would be a fun thematic set. There's my tournament side, and then there's the side of me that just wants to see what a scariff battle mat might look like.

So in the Nemesis review Mike says something to the effect of the filmakers not caring about Trek/having contempt for the audience by trying to pass of that picture of a young bald Picard even though Picard had hair as a youth as per the show. (can't remember if he also whined about the picture being bad because the filmmakers think the audience won't get the Clone angle without it, but if he did that's projection and not worth talking about).

But why then does Mike suck off Wrath of Khan when it does the exact same thing?
Chekov of all people is the one to react to the Botany Bay, when he wasn't even on the show in season 1 when Space Seed happened?
And don't say that he could have been on the ship. If the filmmakers cared the way Mike says the Nemesis guys should have, they wouldn't have picked the ONE cast member who wasn't in the Kahn episode for that sequence.

My conclusion is that Mike is a nostalgia babby pure and simple.
This is further supported by his TFA reaction.

Oh, and if Nemesis is really so terrible, he shouldn't have to resort to things it has in common with TWoK.

Did you see that awesome Scarif terrain someone made for a con? It was a tower on a fake water terrain, with the X-wing mat being a transparent plastic sheet that went through the tower.
