GW Prices

What level of stockholm syndrome does it take to continue paying these prices?

Because clearly some people on Veeky Forums are.

Guess you've only ever collected the green little army men then?

Bore off.

plastic models of comparable complexity and quality will be around the same price no matter what

Try going into a model train shop sometime. At least theres a game for these.

>Try going into a model train shop sometime.
This. I'm not saying GW pricing is good, but seeing railroad modeling is good therapy. also pretty

GWIDF comes out of the woodwork like clockwork.

Have you ever bought a box of Perry plastics?

You don't have to pay a lot for beautiful plastic figures if you're not paying for IP.

I just bought HD nightrod 2017 - so GW prices are fine by me. Maybe this product is just for old fags lie me who done something with their lives and now have money ?

>Perry plastics
yeah i have they are nowhere near the quality of modern gw plastics

Not defending GW but people pay £400 for a console and £50 for a game.

stop being poor. Adults with an actual job can easily have a hobby budget of 300 to 500 bucks per month.

Is the price differential worth the quality differential to you?

I'm clearly on the side of no. I'd rather have 28mm figs which are still by any means beautifully done at a decent price than what GW is pumping out.

Wait for it to be $9 from China.

I have Beijing Syndrome instead. Much better.

Are you the same twat that was saying this yesterday? GW's injection molding isn't even that good, it's still in the same ballpark as historicals like Gripping Beast and Perry.

Is the Primaris Apothecary actually any better than the normal one at doing medical stuff?

You think that's bad?
For people who don't know dollarydoos, that's roughly 91 pounds for the Repulsor, and 36 for the Apothecary.

Yep, that's another odd 60-70% on top of what you faggots are paying.

Theyre nowhere fucking close

Could you explain it to me technically what you're seeing because I don't think you really know what you're talking about. You're confusing design with casting technology, of course a 35mm Plague Marine is going to look interesting compared to a realistic 28mm depiction of a historical solider.

If anything the detail doesn't look to sharp on the Plague Marine, though there is a moldline running down the leg of the knight that could have been removed.

You have much higher wages dummy.
A tablesetter I talk to in Aus gets paid the same hourly rate as me and I'm the IT systems admin for a set of medium size factories.

I setup servers and desktop PCs and he sets up knives and forks.

>tfw Accountant
>"are you poor? You should spend more on plastic and be a good little consumer user!"

The details are muddled on the perry knight

look at the chainmail on the knight compared to the plague marine, its like night and day

Try living in a real country and not a prison colony then fuckface

>tfw the hourly american wage is what i earn in a week

EU is such a fucking third world communist hellhole

That looks like more of a sculpting issue than a molding one, the weaponry looks sharper on the knight for example. And consider the Perry is from a box of like 20 dudes for £18 and the Plague Marine is a box of 3 for £10. It's hardly night and day in quality for the increase in price.

Id rather have less, nicer looking models than a whole mess of shitty looking ones

Even as a brexiteer that's not an EU problem, just whatever gypsy nation you come from.

>EU is such a fucking third world communist hellhole
so much this, I have to pay 30% more for pewter soldier as "import tax" even though they're made in the next town over, it is cheaper to get them order to the US than to get them sent to me.
Glad we left.

Enjoy the cancer

Going to Oz for a holiday recently was great therapy.

Where do you live? Romania?

Even here in Czech republic I earn more

I use a dust mask as protection.

With the rich history of cancer in my family, I already take other measures of diet based health choices to try and minimize my chances where it's hereditary. Also critical illness insurance, so if I do get diagnosed, I'll get a fat payout.

Higher cost of living, too. By the time you take out food, rent/mortgage, bills etc... and you factor in the Oceanic markup, we get fewer models out of our hobby budgets than you do. Because """shipping"""

Let's be fair, it's not just GW plastics that you all have shite pricing for. Video Games are just as bad for you all as well, if I remember correctly.

>not building vehicles from scratch
>not converting characters from regular dudes

How does making your country a laughing stock of the world feel?

Yeah, they completely exceed it by leagues. GW meanwhile struggles with detail

Hahahahahahahaha!! No they dont.

But don't get me wrong. Perry plastics are the greatest historical miniatures out there.

>socialist
>geographically isolated
>spiraling inflation
>constant minimum wage increases
>trillion dollar single room houses
>Chinese investor based economy

Dude, going to the movies cost like $40 there and beer is like $25 for 12. Your money is worthless, quit acting like $90 is a lot. I know some things are the same price as here but the prices aren't truly shocking when compared to things like video games, golf, skateboarding, etc. Christ, Catan is $80 there.

>Australia is socialist

Thanks for my daily dose of stupid at 11am mate.

Back in the day when steam wasn't a big thing you'd pay $100 AUD for a $60 USD game, which was actually almost the same price due to the weaker currency. Nowadays online distribution platforms mean that we pay the same price as anyone else, except for a few rare exceptions that tend to generate a lot of backlash and controversy (Paradox Interactive recently dealt with this after changing the price of their games in a few international countries).

GW's markup on Aussie products is simply obscene. Especially when other Nottingham based companies like Warlord Games charge you a whole £5 shipping. There would have to be a completely inexplicable vast diseconomy of scale on postage for GW to somehow chalk up 10x the costs Warlord does in shipping products to Aus. It'd even be a huge discount for Aussie consumers if they were allowed to purchase GW products in other countries, and then pay shipping costs at customer (ie not business) rates on every single item dispatched instead of buying from Aussie distributors of GW products.

For Americans not being left to die on the street if you have no health insurance is socialism.

And so is basic human decency

>realistic proportions
>crisp, lethal looking weapons that aren't blocky
>distinguished pieces of armor on every model, and great fabric details

vs

>giant, bloated disproportionate squat shaped bricks
>gigantic, toy-like weapons with blades as wide as a fingernail.
>'detail' is mostly carvings basically slapped onto what starts out as a plain CAD sculpt instead of being integrated into the model itself.

Nice work bike bro.

>Best tank is now £14 than the common Primaris transport
>Prices are at a point where SoB are no more ridiculous to collect than the poster boys

>confusing style for level of detail

Mate, I don't even like GW minis but your entire post is retarded.

Nobody seriously thinks good old Ozland is socialist, but user is right about all of those things. Everything costs one and a half times as much in Australia as it does in the USA or UK. If it were just GW products then you'd have an argument, but it's not.

Its almost as if the Perrys make realistic historicals and GW makes stylized Sci-fi/fantasy miniatures

You are a super retard

>spiraling inflation
1.9% inflation this last financial year, during a period in which the global average inflation was 3.55%

>constant minimum wage increases
True, but negligible ones. In the last two years the minimum wage has increased by 6%, with only a 2% increase in minimum wage once inflation is accounted for.

>stylized
That's just a catchphrase for poor sculpting.

They didn't vote Trump into office at least

GW have never aimed for realism.

Soooo ? This is a game or what ? WoW was the best selling MMO and does it have realistic proportions ? lethal non bulky weapons ? Go back to your basment

I don't think anyone of sound mind would argue that Perry outsells GW, you've gone directly past the topic that user was arguing and attacked along lines that are tangentially related at best.

I have an actual job, so does my wife. that 300-500 is our entire budget for food, going out, entertainment, AND savings. Wargaming is an EXPENSIVE hobby to get into

I like the Perry ones more, but you're another faggot confusing design issues with molding quality issues

Nope fanpai - I state that GW is company making profit and of design minis that more people want to buy then perry miniatures - thats all. Infinity has some great minis but they still loose to horrible Warmahordes shit - minis are like 25% of equation. Of course you can be retarded idiot and try to discus TASTE - a thing only american fags dont understand that you dont talk about.

Miniatures aside, the only reason I would play 40k is if I was in the middle of nowhere and had to drive 200 miles to the FLGS. Even with a fresh slate of a new edition, you can see the "alliance books", Codex Supplements, Formations, Allies, Campaign Books, Card Decks and all that which made 6th and 7th clusterfucks from the outside.

If anything in recent years they've got better at giving the kind of docile people that were always going to fork over money exactly what they want.

It's as expensive as you want to make it. The most you have to spend in one go is the cost of the box.

And paints and brushes. if you want to play anywhere but in your own garage against yourself.

nice thick coating there

Even those aren't that much unless you're buying all at once.

>If anything in recent years they've got better at giving the kind of docile people that were always going to fork over money exactly what they want.

This. I've noticed the GW fanbois are becoming more rabid on here, or chilling out and going off to play other games.

>WoW was the best selling MMO and does it have realistic proportions
>citing WoW's popularity
>as if WoW fans are the scumdregs of the hobby
anybody who defends WoW's aesthetics is a complete and utterly hopeless pleb

Eu is not a country tho
i fucking wish my nation had someone like him.

You can save two mouseclicks with that bundle... better than nothing.

Literally more expensive than Forgeworld.

For one pound more you can buy two of them from FW.

What about plamo? Isn't that relatively complex and still a shitload cheaper?

> user points out the detail is not as good on Perry model
> retard user shifts goal posts to price from original argument
Really activates the almonds

If I was caring only about detail I'd be buying metal, or more likely resin.

Probably limited run stuff from small companies with high quality control.

That sort of stuff blows GW out the fucking water, and these days (if not for years) they are cheaper than too.

Learn to read please mate. If you actually read the chain , I said from the start they were in the same ballpark for quality and yet had an exorbitant increase in price. Other user then said they were "nowhere fucking close" when really, they are.

>triple-A video game title
>$50
>some pixelart indie platformer
>$20

GW is not expensive if you don't buy all in one go. A box per month or two, some paint, a brush here and there. It adds up little by little. If I can afford it in post soviet slavistani average wage no one can complain.

> both spouses work
> budget for food, entrainment AND savings is 500
Holy shit get better jobs.

Yes mate, I'm sure they can just walk down to the Good Jobs tree in the morning and pick a couple of new Jobs off the branches. Knobhead.

Sorry not sorry your stupid asses didn't make good life choices. Sucks to suck bitch.
> hurr durr how I supposed to know liberal arts bad degree???

Maybe if they spent less time complaining on a mongolian carpet weaving forum and more time working for a promotion they won't be poor.

Why are poor people even on Veeky Forums?

desu this senpai

How do you even manage that? I work an alright job and my spouse doesn't work, and I have around £800 spare a month, not including food.

Hiroishi-moot credit check for 10+ posts per day when?!?!?

43 pounts
viva la poland!

Aha what, I'm an accountant and department manager so I'm almost certainly on more than you, I can just sympathise with working couples.

What do you do mate? Just curious.

Doesn't work like that, especially in the US where the working class has been bullied into ripping itself apart by corporations.

Everything is worth what it's purchaser is willing to pay for it. If it is not worth it to you, do not purchase it. No doubt third party will fill in the gaps.Failing that, it's not hard to convert an apothecary. Hell, paint it white and stick an auspex on its arm - won't look brilliant but it'll do the job.

>hourly american wage
>earn in a week
>can afford internet connection and device to speak to people about expensive plastic toys
That, now that, is some bad bait.

So if the alpha legion are loyalists in disguise, are there any heretics in disguise on the other side?

>He thinks he has it bad
HAHAHA

>tfw have dual citizenship so got to vote for Brexit and Trump

Wargaming is not expensive. It's a middle-class hobby, maybe you should stop fooling yourself, like most americans, that you actually are middle-class if you can't afford 100$ a month for some toys?

It was actually beneficial for them in the end. Lets a 10 year old game not look like complete crap despite having many 10 year old assets in there. If they shot for realistic it would probably be significantly less, if not completely dead by this point.

Still looks like trash compared to any new MMO, but it's not like the new ones are shooting for the same things (like the ability to raid on a toaster for one).

Hey, you don't like it, don't live on the dingo infested hell-continent.

Dingo's? Really? That's what you bring up? Not Redbacks, Funnelwebs, Huntsmen, or Snakes?

Dingos are what people in the rest of the world know, sorry. It was that or drop bears.

Fuck, mate, you'd think people would shit themselves over the huntsman..

Or the redbacks..

Isn't that the one you guys keep around because he's pretty harmless but will eat other insects?

Yeah, but they're still big and creepy as fuck. And the bite WILL still do shit to you-he just won't kill you (probably)

Or the funnelwebs.

Can you people even give shit normal names or is this some weird way of coping with the trauma of living in that shithole

1. Consider how British people name things
2. Move criminal and nutter Brits to a desert island where the heat cooks them and sends them loopy, and a lot of the fauna is out to kill them

>bore off

you are a fat gay niggerbastard mongo cunt

However back to the point GW could drop the price but they know people will pay the price so they keep raising it. The models themselves, for the most part, are great and the multipose and add ons also contribute to the price but I agree its still too much. I stopped when 20 cadians went from £15 to £18 then 10 cadians were £18.50

CPA or GTFO
