How high of a strength score would you need to get on the podium in the World's Strongest Man contest?

How high of a strength score would you need to get on the podium in the World's Strongest Man contest?

For reference, the guy in the middle can deadlift 500 kilograms.

I'm pretty sure that moving onto a podium is a DEX based movement.

17 or 18

Let me rephrase that question: How high STR would be required to lift half a ton from the ground?

5

Clearly it depends on the system.

Ignore the retards and consult this chart.
>d20srd.org/srd/carryingCapacity.htm
So, 500kg would be ~1102 lbs. and Lifting doubles your maximum load.

So based on that, you would need a STR score of 23 if you wanted to lift ~1102 lbs. at the bare minimum.

that's a surprisingly accurate metric

cont. from If you wanted to know what you'd need in 5e, consult this page instead.
>5e.d20srd.org/srd/skills/usingEachAbility.htm
In 5e, your carrying capacity is (STR * 15 lbs.) so in order to lift 1102 lbs. you'd need a STR score of at least 75 since (75*15=1125 lbs.)

Hope this helps.

Any, just roll a natural 20.

>physically impossible action
>nat 20
>DM allows it

why is this allowed

Actually that's your "carrying around with you all day" weight capacity. There's a little section that says your lift, drag, and push weights are double your carrying capacity, so 30 times your STR score.

So this means you'd ONLY need 37 STR.

It isn't. Natural 20s only apply to attack rolls.

Actually, you'd need a STR score of 38 to lift 1102 lbs. (30*38=1140 lbs.)

Still pretty fucking brutal in either case. It basically means that a character with 20 STR can only lift 600 lbs.

That's without making a check

>23
>human base maximum is 18
>has no magic items because Earth is a low magic setting
>the only way to increase an ability score by +5 is to be a level 20 character
>the best deadlifters in our world are all level 20 characters

But user, if they're level 20, how come they would die if any average person slit their throat?

Yeah, and 37*30 = 1110, which is more than sufficient
don't over-engineer!

Wait, I'm an idiot, for some reason I read that as 1100 lbs. not 1110 lbs.

My bad.

Level 20 commoner.

>Level 20 commoner.
What an oxymoron.

he's reeally good at tilling fields

They're not just going to let you walk up to them and slit their throat, if that was possible it would fall under the coup de grace rules. Especially with high-level characters, the vast majority of hit points represent their stamina that you must wear down through combat before you can even get into a position to finish them off.
