Posted in the last thread, but how about replacing the lascannon turret on this conversion:

With this version? It would act as a Land Raider in 40k and Coronus in 30k

I think the Repulsor looks a little low-tech for the Custodes, but it's not bad. You've removed the most offensive pieces like the stubber and minigun that even Astartes shouldn't be forced to resort to. I really don't understand those weapons choices at all.

I guess the question is which set of rules to use. If you'll use Coronus rules (and just ignore the side doors) then the hull-mounted heavy bolters are fine as Lastrum bolt cannons and you're better off with twin lascannons pretending to be TL Arachnus blaze cannons. Though sticking four on there isn't a big deal and might look better if you aren't going to put some sort of casing over them.

how do we fix the mastodon lads
i would drop its price by 100-ish points, give it the reinforced structure 5+ invuln, and make the siege melta array 18" range and armourbane

All of that sounds fine to me.

I don't really get why the Mastodon, Thunderhawk, and Stormbird cost so much.

Do flying transports have to come on as reserves, i.e. on turn 2 or later? Can they start on the board?

Aside from pricing, I think part of the issue is that because it's a transport, you're gonna want to use it as one. But to maximize its transport capacity, you have to dump an average sized army into it. That doesn't really work at lower point value game

But as you go up in point value, you now have just a really expensive transport with limited guns.

Needs a price drop and maybe some better weaponry

Transparent would be totally fine since white prints clear and the insignias are going on white armour.

Don't see why not. There's no firing arcs in 8th anymore right?

On another note though, if you happen to have a spare predator turret lying around, possible you could post a pic of how it looks on it, brainstorming some stuff to do with the repulsor as well

Does Chapterhouse still sell Land Raider side sponsons?

They're still flyers, so they have to Reserve themselves. Unless of course, you bring a Skyshield Landing Pad and hover on it turn one, which if you don't do with something like a 'Hawk or 'Bird you're a bit of an idiot given they easily fire 75 pts of gun per turn.

I don't sadly. Sorry.

They sell turrets but not sponsons

That would probably look really shitty. The reason the conversion works so well is because how small the turret is. Meanwhile, that quad gun is a fairly big fucker.

Would a Sicaran-based transport that could carry 12-15 power-armored marines change the game too much to be a good idea?

Well, I can't see a speedier and squishier Raider sans assault ramp being too much of a problem. It would be good for special weapons squads and possibly expensive/flamer vettacs, can't see a huge number of other uses for one other than being basically a Mega Razorback. Would depend on how many points and what guns you weld to it, surely.

Can you upgrade a Command Squads' bikes to twin-linked plasma or flamers?

Bumping with an economy class razorback

Still in progress, but here's my first rhino, r8 and h8

>inb4 Mars pattern

This is, no joke, how I modeled my SW transports in 40k.

I have a HoTG list I'm working on for a tournament/narrative event
the core is a Praetor, Orth, Mastodon, 2 rhino tacs, 2 veterans(1 plasma 1 flamers), 7 gorgons and 4 vindicators
outside of that, my current options are to take either 2 AA+augury apothecaries and a deathstorm pod with Krak launchers and DPA, or grab a naked chaplain and give the vindis all machine spirit. what do you guys think would work better/be more fun?

It's a cool concept. It works really well with RG as they are supposed to have had serious losses and are improvising to defend themselves

That's awesome. Screams Istvann V to me.

Looks good, love the roof hatch!

>lovingly convert model
>time to basecoat
>better do a test batch due to the weather
>test batch comes out gorgeous
>basecoating the converted model works fine, too
>suddenly the can sputters to a stop before blowing a whole load of color over the model
>left side of the model is ruined
Sometimes I just want to end it all...

At 4:00 pm we’ll be catching up with the Specialist Games Studio and Forge World, talking to Tony Cottrell about Blood Bowl and beyond.

If anyone's subscribed to the Warhammer TV Twitch, spam questions about Angelus and 7.5 so he has to answer them. Also Titanicus if you are able.

If the model and the spray were from GW you can mail them and ask for another as one of their cans was fucked up and damaged your miniatures

Sadly, this doesn't really help with all the time I spent sculpting the greenstuff and such.

Well now you have the opportunity to make it even better! Don't give up user, do it for Duncan and the Emperor I mean the True Emperor and Warmaster, Horus

Alternatively, tell them to stop being fuckheads and just move on to 8th.
Also, to release Fires of Cyraxus already and stop being whiny cunts about their precious AdMech shit.

I guess so. Next time I have a vacation I'll try to make an improved version.
>Emperor
>True Emperor
Amusingly enough, the model was a reaver lord for a band of blackshields that can't figure out which side to support in the conflict.

Do you guys think we can hope to get another plastic HH box this autumn, or shoulf we abandon all hopes of a new smaller marines release because of 8th and Primaris?

I feel like putting up a fluff attempt for my RG for critique. You know, seeing as nobody's reading these threads anyways.

Go for it my dude.
How the mighty have fallen indeed.

We'll get a new box but it might come out later as GW is very busy at the moment with all the 40k releases

Damn it. Oh well, at least I'll use that time to finish my many blobs.

I've heard it might be Titanicus instead.

Yes, and it will contain 30 mkII marines, a tartaros praetor, a deredeo and a sicarian.

>Not mk5
Boo.
The rest would be very nice however, but I ighly we'd get both a Naught AND a tank.

I highly doubt*
Edit post option when?

Ok how's this to start with:

>Dael Ochret, Terran Raven Guard. Originally an apothecary attached to the 64th company, he was granted captaincy after the battle at Gate 42. Deemed a loyal warrior by Corax himself, Ochret was chosen to lead the remainder of the 64th after the demise of previous captain and lodge member Albarn Hechtar. Grateful for his promotion, Captain Ochret aimed to rebuild the 64th in compliance with Corax's axioms of stealth and worked particularly hard at integrating Corax's philosophy with the company's remaining deliverers. Having achieved succes in imbuing his
cataphractii elite with silent capabilities, Ochret and the 64th were anxious to display their worth against the traitor Horus on Isstvan 5. Alas, the 64th's perfectly executed decapitation strike was wasted among the black sands of the dropsite massacre. Unwitnessed by Corax and ultimately futile amidst the endless tide of traitors, Dael and his deliverers were stuck for 72 days amid the craters, and bodies of the urgal depression. Their presence masked to almost all traitor scanning apparatus, their cataphractii plate both saved them from detection and damned them to months of immobility. It was only when one of their rare encoded distress pings was intercepted by surviving Raven Guard master of signal: Johstis Kelk that Dael and 4 of his squad were freed and extracted by a surviving Darkwing pattern Storm Eagle.

People are reading the threads, they just move at a slower pace now. Since a lot of the excited shit posters are gone you might actually get some good feedback now.

>Since a lot of the excited shit posters are gone you might actually get some good feedback now.

Probably the biggest pros of this loss of activity. The 40k general has turned into an even bigger shitfest than it was before.

Not bad, but several points:
-Can a support staff get rank? I thought that once you were into those jobs and basically never left and couldn't moven, unless it's oart of the job, like Iron Fathers and Warsmiths
-Stealthy Cataphractii? I mean, why not, but damn dude, you take litteraly the clankiest of all the armors for that. Tartaros would fit better imo.
-Would there really be RG vessels ha ging around after 72 days, looking for survivors? Better that your dudes capture an enemy ship thanks to that stealth training imo.

>stealth cataphractii
holy fuck that's awesome.

Sounds pretty good, makes them unique and interesting without being a flamboyant bunch of homos. Really like the names you have given them, Dael Ochret feels really 30k-y.

Couple of things, can an apothecary become a captain? I feel like they are separate paths for marines. Also a cataphractii squad performing a decapitation strike would be right at the vanguard, especially if it was perfectly executed. They may be able to hide from sensors but people have eyes.

>Would there really be RG vessels ha ging around after 72 days, looking for survivors? Better that your dudes capture an enemy ship thanks to that stealth training imo.
The Raven Guard were on Istvaan 5 for almost 100 days until their extraction, it seems reasonable to me that one of the the stealthiest aircraft in the Imperium would be able to hide for this time, especially when it has an entire planet to hide on.

Pariah bolters state that if a charge is made in the same player turn that a model from the unit fired with this weapon, the charge will count as Disordered.

Does this mean the charge for the unit or that model? Would three guys firing bolters disorder the charge for the rest of the dudes?

MkII I can imagine, if it's Angelus based. Probably DA vs. someone. Possible we don't get terminators in this. Unless it's some new pattern. Or they make 30k Indomitus with less bling and 30k era weapons. Very much doubt it'll contain vehicles beyond simple dreads. Maybe, seeing that Angelus is suppose to have more daemons stuff, we get possessed and daemons in the box?

Consider it a 0.1% chance to get a box this year, and a 1% chance to get a box ever at all.

Primarines will be the future of SM models going forward, it'll just be a slow process of phasing out the old shit.

????
HH models will remain the same and FW will not kill their most successful series. Stop shitposting le epic manlet marine xDxDxD

Wow. Great feedback guys. This is the kind of stuff I want to hear.

>Stealth Cataphractii
This came from how I built my dudes mainly from the BaC set and I liked the Deliverers blurb in book 3. I also liked the idea of a terran guy who probably spent his entire career mopping up after Luna Wolves in his cataphractii, but then being so eager to impress his new primarch that he's kind of like a fish trying to climb a tree. The stealth cataphractii suits are probably a bit of a fundamentally flawed idea yeah, but Ochret probably doesn't even see that because of his desire to prove himself.

>Can support staff get rank?
Don't know desu. Perhaps a primarch would be able to create an exception. The only thing I can think of that's similar is Talos from the Night Lords trilogy. If an apothecary background it too snowflake it'd be no biggie to change it to sergeant.

>The darkwing.
I wanted to mention my darkwing having a significant role in my fluff. Haven't even decided yet if they actually use it to get off world before the main RG evac or if it just takes them to wherever the rest of the RG are and they evac along with Corax and the rest. Don't know which one is more realistic.

Those boxes are for 30k and 30k is primarine free.

FW sure, GW no. GW is in charge of plastics and plastic marines in the old scale aren't happening anymore.

They were very deliberately cross-compatible with both 30k and 40k.

You mean "GW gave them 40k rules"? Because they sure as shit haven't given plasma blasters, reaper autocannons, grenade harnessed, nor volkite chargers for, say, Indomitus squads. It's almost like the 40k rules are an afterthought. Nor did any of the sprues contain Crux Terminatus shoulder pads for 40k use.

I mean every existing SM player could see the box and think "cool, different flavors of marines and termies that I can add to my army for variety" and every prospective SM player could think "I don't really like the look of MkVII and indomitus, but these guys are cool".

The huge influx of new SM/DG collectors from DI won't be interested in marines of a smaller scale.

>Also a cataphractii squad performing a decapitation strike would be right at the vanguard, especially if it was perfectly executed. They may be able to hide from sensors but people have eyes.
Eclipse missiles from a darkwing, then assault with raven talon equiped cataphractii. I've even been able pull it off in actual games a couple of times.

Imagine how scary that would be for people.

>be human planetary leader in late M30
>some emo faggot tries to get you to join his daddies club
>lol, fuck off m8
>last message is something about deliverers being unleashed
>whatever
>relaxing on my deck with a space mojito later that day
>black aircraft suddenly flies overhead and covers the area in smoke
>a matte black walking tank emerges from the smoke with foot long claws
>wet myself
>get chopped into 4 pieces
>such is the life of an uncompliant

I am screencapping that greentext and when I get home from work I am going to attempt to produce an image for that. But yeah, that's basically what went on in my head as I was working on my dudes.

I know your pain user!

I did up my first set of Custodes here months ago, and they're still sitting with their FROSTY coating of Purity Seal because it was my first time using it in years and I forgot what it could do.
>pic is before that happened

I keep saying I'm going to take some watered down floor cleaner, and switch between lightly scrubbing with a toothbrush, and rinsing them immediately, until I get the 'top layer' off, and then touch up all the damage... but I just can't bring myself to do it because I'm terrified I'm going to fucking ruin them!

>being the inspiration for a Veeky Forums screencap comic
I can die happy now. Looking forward to seeing it.

There ya go man.

>\tg\ screencap comic
>I have the ability to draw

Doesn't a second coat sometimes fill in the uneven surface?

aaaand the full image just incase.

FW won't change, but the plastic boxes are made by GW and their contents so far have been re-released for use in 40k as well.

Last year, GW was already increasing the size of marines; the Deathwatch guys are pretty tall. So it was a surprise that they released old-sized Mk III dudes, and it'd be an even bigger surprise if they did it again now that Primaris marines are out. I don't expect any more small marine models from GW, only FW.

Just needs a 28mm space mojito.

If it's DA vs NL you could base it on the Thramas Crusade.
30 MK II, a NL Primus Medicae and a DA Moritat/Siege Breaker/Champion, and who knows what else? Destroyers would fit both Legions, as would bikes. They could also add either another Contemptor or a Contemptor variant. I doubt they're going to include battle tanks and transports though.

Beautiful,I'm honoured. Nice models too.

I've tried brushing one on, to no apparent help.

Try spraying gloss varnish over it.

Acetone works wonders for me :)

30k hours in ms paint

>storm eagle heavy bolters are mounted upside down

Depending on the paint you could try to strip it with a simple green bath.

Damn. Thanks for noticing. It's still wip so I can fix this without ruining the model.

Hey, even GW can't always get it right. Seen plenty of their models, especially Russes, with the heavy bolters mounted upside down.

Already fixed it.

Which legions' fluff and rules support cowboy-themed army the best?

youtube.com/watch?v=-NyYoADdOgM

The lone star legion.

Most White Scars grew up riding horses, so they should be an option. I guess the Terran inductees (if you don't want them to look Mongolian) generally didn't grow up with horses, but they'd be given the Khan's geneseed and there his propensity towards mounted warfare.

Imperial Fists could fit too. Cowboys are the ones who started using barbed wire to fence off pasture, right? And they'd build forts in Native American country (in Praetorian of Dorn, the IF are shown building forts in ork territory and then absorbing the inevitable attack). The IF's bonus to bolters also works - it's basically a reliance on conventional, relatively low-tech weapons. With the occasional gatling gun.

Nah, don't feel it.

I agree on the Imperial Fists, the bolter drill but also the varied cultures the legion had recruited from give a solid basis.

Scars could work too, for mounted warfare.

Another legions I though of are SoH (death dealer) and Dark Angels with the Ironwing Protocol.

Either Raven Guard for some sweet Moritat fun, or DAngles for that Cypher vibe.

So did a single person here watch Tony Cotrell's interview on Warhammer TV? He might have had news about Angelus, 7.5 and the rest.

Traitor IF fag here, I usually run a Moritat if I'm fielding destroyers. I fluff him out as a cancer and biological virus ridden dude who wants to go out in a blaze of glory.

>traitor IF
What sort of special snowflake justification do you have?

Epic fans who say it say that Tony apologized for Titanicus being late and hinted that they're using this extra time productively (multipart, multipose kits, with some likely to be plastic).

I'm watching it now and they've so far been talking about the models that are coming out soon. Custodes terminators, sicaran variants, thousand sons praetor, some AoS stuff and gabriel angelos.

Just heard him say that the new heresy rulebook coming out has several 'tweaks' to make the horus heresy run 'a bit smoother'. He also hinted (i think) that the tweaks are the reason that it's taking a bit longer to get out. So perhaps it IS more of a 7.5 than a simple copy/paste of the 7th ed rulebook.

Ok I rewinded it a couple of times and he's basically said that 'they' want the heresy to stay 7th. He talks about that he thinks it's nice to have a more 'simulationist' game for people who are looking for something that's different from 40k. He also said that they understand that people want to use their stuff for both systems and that they'll be looking into it, but 'it's not going to happen overnight'. He hopes that with the new rulebook that FW is releasing more people will "give heresy a go".

>said that 'they' want the heresy to stay 7th.
I miss Bligh.

FW sure is losing steam with the loss of Bligh.

The last model they revealed was a brand new Space Wolf terminator, but they didn't show a close-up. Tony said he's still a couple of months away because they've got a bit of a backlog, but just to show that more space wolf stuff is coming.

30k Varangian? Can you do a snapshot? I doubt anyone's seen this yet.

7th with tweaks sounds fine.

>Tfw no Anacharis or his babby Boop

What do people use for Scoria or Arlatax anyway? Don't think I've ever seen either converted apart from that Abeyant on Crawler legs in the Mech vs. Knights WHTV game.

As for editions, 7e with tweaks and fixes sounds pretty good for the vast majority, although I wish they'd hurry up and fix Word Bearers and the other shit tier legion rules. All they'd need would be unique unit point reductions and I wouldn't feel like Ashen Circle are overly expensive Assault Marine models anymore.

HH rulebook next month.

Best screenshot I could take.

Thanks for the updates!

I think there will be less demand to make 30k and 40k cross-compatible as 40k moves to its larger scale. At the moment people are still using marinelets in 40k, but it won't last. Mk III marines vs. Primaris will look too silly. So FW might as well diverge.

...

That looks like the Tson Praetor, not a yiff.

Pls no. I hate how goofy resin marines look. I need more plastic.

So I'm looking into an allied detachment for my solar aux tank army, and I'm thinking about a fast assault-oriented interdiction force to slap around any unit that gets too close to the tanks. I'm thinking about pic related, but are bikes the way to make this work?
