DMing for my group scratches that worldbuilding itch I used to satisfy with writing too well. I've gotten absolutely nowhere.

I made it like half a chapter before attempt #1 devolved into porn
The second attempt has proven slower

I'm on the second draft.

Congrats, that's a nice achievement.

Pretty much stopped writing since I learned to improvise as a DM.

The real problem is I can't bring myself to play video game RPGs anymore.

I'd seriously put in the effort to publish something like an osprey series about imaginary conflicts in a setting if I could ifnd the right artist to illustrate stuff, but it would probably not be really worth it as it would fill an extremely small niche. Can't do it at the moment as I need the money and time for better investments.

The one novel is developing nicely, though this is supposed to be a web novel, so I will soon start releasing chapters while still writing way ahead of the released material. It's a bit of a risky endeavour, but I'm excited about it.

The other novel, well my publisher told me to stop writing for once, though my contract is still existing. It's commissional work and he wants to change the way we work on it. I'll have to wait until he contacts me to see how it will be done.

Blocked as all fucks.
I can't fucking move on with the story and some minor things, also some of the important characters are too dull for my taste.

What's the last thing that happened? How do the other major players react to what happened?

Never really wrote one, though I'm writing short stories about Urban Unease. It's coming along nicely.

11 pages!
in a month!

Finished one a long time ago. Now I'm too busy GMing a nationbuilder which requires a stupidly large amount of writing on update days. Why did I think I could handle 18 players?

I was thinking of doing something like that nanowrimo bullshit soon.

Fuck you

Quit making excuses and finish the damn book George

I'll let you know when I stop building for it and start writing it.

MC reborned for the 77° time and is contemplating going full homeless adventurer around the world. The story is about cursed people that made a deal with time incarnate. Some cycles ago the MC memorized some winning tickedts locations to win the lotery a couple of times. This wont end well.

Completely paralysed. Depression is a hell of a void. Imagine having days in which the best you can do is not stay in bed.

Compliments on Veeky Forums were the best things I had for the last week. Playing games on "very easy" mode seem too much effort with no results.

Also it's not a novel but a complete setting guide.

Osprey already did that. I liked their "ork warfare" book because it pretty much confirmed the ideas I applied to hobgoblins, like falxes.

Does he have amnesia? And why won't it end well? Who would be inclined to stop someone from winning the lottery? I mean I guess besides other people trying to win the lottery. Is he a druggy too or something?

>Does he have amnesia?
He wish he had. He remembers all previous lives.
>And why won't it end well?
Because another cursed is doing the same shit trough proxies.
>Who would be inclined to stop someone from winning the lottery? I mean I guess besides other people trying to win the lottery.
See above.
>Is he a druggy too or something?
Never mentioned it, but the character had a couple of "high cycles". Since they will be reborn anyway, most of the cursed hit the drugs hard and hedonistic life style at least once.

I've been writing shitty video essays to procrastinate and put it off.

I have the idea, a sketchy outline, an ending. I have a clear idea of how it begins, where the protagonist is at the start and the inciting incident.

It's a cyberpunk idea. Main protagonist is an athlete who in the space between training camps becomes semi embroiled with a local college anarchists set when they provoke him and by extension his sponsors and caretakers.

There's AI and sci fi technology but mostly it's a story about a very dangerous young man and his existence in the moments between being driven.

Do any of the cursed have names or personalities or do they sit in dark rooms with hoods drawn

331,163 words.
575 pages
All autistic shit that no one will ever read.
I've only covered about 1% of the plot.
Writing it feels like pulling teeth.
One of the only things I have to live for.

Almost finished the first draft, close to 200,000 words

This is Lord Mazdumandi, a very powerful Slann mage-priest. I want you to ask Mazdumandi why you're blocked in your story. Don't type your question, I want you to ask him why out loud.

Say, 'Lord Mazdumandi, why am I having trouble progressing with my story?'

Eiichiro Oda?

Almost to the final draft of my second short story.

Third one is outlined.

I wish....

They are normal people mostly, somewhere between 100~200 cursed on the generations the story takes place. All cursed have a set time of of death if they don't die intentionaly before said time comes. Something all cursed have in common aside from the "you're dying again at this arbitrary time" thing is the anchors. Days or events that will allways occur in a set pattern.

I wrote a fanfic instead.

It got a few thousand favorites. I'm simultaneously proud and deeply ashamed.

What was it a fanfic of?

Got it published, be in all good book stores in November. I'm very excited.

...

Finished at about 200K words, but un-publishable, because if looked at from the wrong angle it could come across as being pro-Fascist, even though I had Hitler get killed in it.

Oh, also, Alternate History is a niche enough genre to begin with without also including aliens. And no English-speaker wants to read a story that takes place mostly in 1935-1936 Italy.

>200K words

Wow I badly misremembered the word count there. Sorry, about I meant just under 90K words. Where the Hell did I even *get* 200K words from?

Pretty good. I post my shit online.

>mfw my patreon is still at zero shekels.
>mfw no face posted

I still don't know how to write well, and honestly I don't really know if I'm actually creative or not

My novel used details for my personal sci-fi setting, which I once used with d20 Future to run a campaign in.

There, this thread is now Veeky Forums related. Ta-da~!

I'm still hung up on the little things, like whether I want my setting to be an alternate reality earth with small kingdoms and fiefdoms that have grown out of some of the Mediterranean empires of antiquity, or whether I want to take the plunge and go 100% original on my history and geography. Either way, I was thinking about making part of my story about a human and a yuan-ti who start their journey in Germany with but different complementary goals that lead them both south.

Everything that's wrong with neo Veeky Forums

Just finished Chapter 17, thanks for asking.

Congrats user. Is it your first published?

Just one of thousands of Harry Potter stories. It seemed like an easy setting to work with and help develop my writing skills.

Bad or masturbatory GMing is often referred to as "writing a novel" or "forcing the players to be characters in your novel"

Good shit, man! Congrats!

Submitted it to Pitch Wars, also querying agents directly and keeping an eye on twitter submission contests.

Hopefully someone likes the look of art deco LGBT military sci fi

>art deco LGBT military sci fi

Ah, the worse kind of Veeky Forums troll.

The one that wants to make the board shit.

>More lesbian bullshit.

Turns out Brandon Sanderson came up with a solid, combat-y gravity manipulation magic system and already published a series with it, so my whole setting is shot.

Congrats, fa/tg/uy, hope it goes well for you.

It's blatant fetish shit from top to bottom with a vague cyberpunk plot on top.

If I ever finish writing it I'm going to see far I can go without people noticing the blatant gap bait.

As of now it's a text document with synopsis , a beginning outline and some random defining scenes.

Do it anyway user. The narrative is what's most important anyway.

Two paragraphs and constant doubts as to whether it's worth it, if anyone will read it, how I will be judged for it

If king can write about all the fucked up things that he's written about then I should be able to write about magic loli shenanigans god damn it

Two self published books here, total word count in 350k range with another 100k book coming to finish the series. AMA or shitpost or whatever, I just want to talk novels.

>Completely paralysed. Depression is a hell of a void.
H-how can you know me so well?

How hard did you work on promo'ing yourself?

How much money did you make?

Congrats man! What's it called?

>How hard did you work on promo'ing yourself?
About 8% effort. It's my first series and I got my first book done just before leaving high school, so it's not very good. I think I've put about $130 into Facebook ads? Sales went up by a flat 0%, was pretty sad. Got a lot of reach though.

>How much money did you make?
I think I sold 5 paperbacks and the rest were electronic, my tax form from Amazon was like $62 or something small. It's free online and is more about getting my name out there than anything. Money can come later.

Well, thanks for telling me that facebook ads are worthless.

How long was the ad period for Facebook? How long were the ads up and such?

Who do you have edit your stuff? Do you just use a proofreader, or do you have anybody check you for plot and flow? Do you spend money on editing?

Not that guy, but I do social media for a (peasant style) living. I don't know about niche stuff like books, but generally bad Facebook ads do nothing, good Facebook ads can do wonders.

Shill it here please.

Trying to figure out exactly how I want the story to fully come together. Second guessing myself constantly on the point in time I've chosen to start the story at. Beating my head against a wall.

Shit, I'll read it.
