First and foremost, Big Trouble in Little China, the movie which pratically translates my table into the big screen.

-What defines a movie as "Veeky Forums"? I take that this means it looks like a good adventure/campaign; could be used as inspiration or material for such; perhaps it simply has the kind of crazy shit players and GMs come up with.
-This list excludes very famous and obvious choices which even 90% of Veeky Forums can agree on, like the Lord of the Rings or Terminator; and what may sound Veeky Forums but isn't, like the D&D or WH40K official movies.
-Includes mockumentaries, animation and shorts.
-Please take notice that trailers spoiling things was common until the later 90s.

Ok Let me see how much of that stuff I have seen and what were my opinions on them:
>13th Warrior, The
for 6 years Veeky Forums keep saying to me I should watch it. Maybe I should.
>1612
I'm russian and always conisder russian movies bad. Don't rememebr much but the assualt at the city wall was memorable.
>Brotherhood of the Wolf
When I watched it as a kid was not moved. Was waiting for awesome battles against the wolf but people kept talking and doing other stuff.
>Capitan Alatriste
Liked it. Had a lot of 3 musketeers book feels. People die, people lie, and money is important. Liked the protagonist.
>Riddick
I actually liked it. Still buthurt they removed the original "mad doctor at prison did operation at my eyes" and inserted the chosen one story.
! man vs unfriendly planet and unfriendly humans is where Riddick shines.
>Escape from New york.
Liked it. Was surprised at 3d computer graphics made with practical effects since it was cheaper."I thought you were taller" grows on you.
>Event Horizon
AMAZING. shame they eliminated from existence all the gore footage.
>FernGully: The Last Rainforest
Hippy undertones killed it for me. AKA avatar trial run. Yet as a kid I enjoyed the pixie with a pixie haircut.
>Firebase
OATS is nice but IMHO it is similar to Veeky Forums awesome concepts all around but inability to make a satisfying end product.
>Flash Gordon
LIked it. Lots of colors. Pulpy races, Bud Spencer tier enemy general.
>Forbidden Empire
All supernatural special effects are just drunk people. Still disliking russian movies.
>Ghosts of Mars.
Loved the story it was based on. Movie was meh, but the rock'nroll costumes of the evil guys was fun.
>Guardians of the Galaxy
AMAZING. 100+ milions movies ARE enjoyable.
>Hellboy I and II
Very good. ENd of the world power level by the end of the movies look ridiculous and imho should have been kept to a more ground level but still amazingly nice.
>Hero
Watched as a kid. Was surprised and liked the actions of the Hero at the end. Was butthurt that a lot of people died pointlessly.
>Iron Sky
Disliked it, Or I had great expectation but they kep doing to many silly jokes. Wanted some comedy done with a straight face.
>Knights Of Badassdom.
Parts with Tyrion are ok. the erst sucks.
>Krull
Was to hyped when I saw (MAIN Star Wars contender of its time!!!) so disappointed it did not live to expectations. Also stupid weapon.
>Mist, The
watched it with normie friends. All of us liked it. LIked the ending
>Mutant Chronicles
Preparing to watch it now.
>Pacific Rim
Plot was stupid. Original invaders motivation they scraped was very good. Still best giant robots fight movie EVER!
>Sinbad: Legend Of The Seven Seas
Liked it a lot as a kid. Now sinbad is a bid annoying but man the BBEG is amazing.
>Spectral. Watched it last week. Very solid. B-movie plot. 2017 camera and special effects. SpecOps fighting Wraiths.
Let me a dd a couple from myself
>HARBINGER
8min direct to youtube lovecaftian flick

>Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead
Indie Australia tries to replicate original Mad Max but with zombies.
youtube.com
>El Corazón del Guerrero
Surprisingly good spanish movie about a kid playing D&D and going insane. Ending Bad guys win and he ends in mental hospital
youtube.com
>Barabrella
Set in 40 000 A.D. I firmly believe this is where the 40k of 40k came from. Prove me wrong

>no Robot Jox

A 1985 Paul Verhoeven movie, it reminds me a lot of Warhammer Fantasy. It's late medieval/renaissance, all the characters are super weird and gross with more of a focus on bands of violent mercenaries than heroic knights. The trailer spoils the whole damn thing, but what's hilarious about the film is that Verhoeven wanted Rutger Hauer's character to be evil, while Hauer wanted to play a charming rogue, so you wind up with this totally bizarre dissonance.
>The 13th Warrior
Seriously, do yourself a favor and watch it. While the idiotic costuming bugged the hell out of me, it's a really enjoyable movie. The ending battle scene alone justifies the film's existence.

What the fuck are you niggers doing?
Kin-dza-dza! while we're talking about russian movies. Its a goofy late soviet scifi, but it has tie ins with Pananoia and other absurdist scifi like 2000AD. Also a good example of how having half the party be locals and the other half from far away can work.
The first hour of On The Silver Globe has a lot of usable stuff for sword and planet tribal stuff too. The rest is probably not a thing many people enjoy, but its neat.
The Ginger Snaps series seems like a good way to convey the mood for a monsterhearts game.
Ice Pirates is light hearted space pirate romp that's surprisingly enjoyable.
This Gun For Hire is a classic noir that I think has one of the first/early criminal protagonists. Gives a decent rundown of how to make a compelling antihero.
Yojimbo and Sanjuro for classic kurosawa action. Throne Of Blood for his really good version of mcbeth. I rip off mcbeth when ever I want to do political intrigue.
The Lion In Winter while we're talking about political intrigue Veeky Forums related movies. It has some of the best dialogue I've ever seen for that.
Ghost in the shell was pretty good
...
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is amazing
youtube.com
You should really give Zu Warriors From the Magic Mountain a watch, Carpenter cites it as his inspiration for BTiLC. It has just the right mix of action, silliness and insanity.
Forgot to add, the whole movie is even on youtube if you don't feel like tracking it down.
Mortal Kombat is the corny 90s goodness I want all my campaigns to be, complete with terrible 3d CG.
>Reign of Fire: the beginning of the "realistic" takes on fantasy; highlights include a pre-Mcconaissance McConaughey channeling Colonel Kurtz and an influence on dragon design still felt to this day
youtube.com
>Planet of the Vampires: a dwindling-party sci-fi horror cheese sampling platter brought to you by the Italians of the 1960's (notably, the movie that the Alien franchise has been quietly ripping off for decades)
youtube.com
>Solomon Kane: there was a Solomon Kane movie; it was alright
youtube.com
>The Fifth Element: fuckin' Luc Besson, man
youtube.com
>Hidalgo: a swan song for the "rip-roarin'" adventure flicks like Indiana Jones, it features Evil Ethnics, Sexy Ethnics, a big sandstorm, and all other things that make Movies great
youtube.com
>Cast a Deadly Spell: Lovecraft Noir
youtube.com
I posted a bunch of movies in another thread but I guess I'll post em here again because they're fun.
>Wuxia/Swordsmen/Dragon
Over-the-top fantasy kung-fu mixed with noir the plot is basically History of Violence but, in my opinion, better
The first fight (in the first 5min of the video) hit way to close to home in terms of combat encounters. The Detective is autistic enough in his investigation style he might as well be a PC. I'm sort of surprised this one isn't more well known here
youtube.com
>Beyond the Black Rainbow
Isn't super Veeky Forums related but it is very cool, has some cool ideas to steal and has a super cool trailer
youtube.com
>Fire and Ice
It's Fire and motherfucking Ice! It's chalcolithic swords and sorcery. It's thick fucking asses and cavemen and it's fun as hell.
youtube.com
>Boondock Saints
Two dudes turn out to be player characters it's a really gay movie for some reason
youtube.com
>A Field in England
It's LotFP, like almost exactly LotFP
youtube.com
>Evil Dead 2
Regular dude doing his best to survive the bizarre forces of evil. If your running survival horror and haven't seen it yet it will be well worth your time.
youtube.com
>Flash Gordon (the 1936 serial)
It's a mine of cool of ideas. It has swords, rayguns, dungeons, evil gods and spaceships and it all manages to mesh together into a fantastic world. Far less campy than the 80s take but still very cheesy and surprisingly watchable.

No Dragonheart?
Son I am disappoint.
Did you watch Escape from New York in translation? Because in English, the running gag is ''I heard you were dead''.
I was unsure if it was ''I heard you were dead''. or "I heard you were taller" probably confused with some other movie that referenced Escape.
I'd recommend Nirvana, it's a cyberpunk data job with obvious Blade Runner shades, highly elaborated sets&costumes and a bomb ass score.
youtube.com
are you russian from 2ch?
OP here, thanks for the sugestions. I face-palmed myself half a dozen times. "How the fuck I forgot that?" Will add them towards a definitive list.
No.
?
Escape from la is 'I thought you'd be taller' as a riff on escape from ny's 'I heard you were dead'.
