Guys, I'd love to make a cavalry based chaos army, what do you think about this?
-Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount
-Chaos Sorcerer Lord on Steed
-10 chaos knights x3
-10 chaos marauders horsemen x2
-1 chaos chariot
1960/2000 points
Looks good man. I would suggest slightly tinkering it to potentially fit in the Ruinbringer Warband bonus.
>Ruinbringer Warband
Good idea, I totally forgot about that
I can slightly change it so I can benefit of the bonuses, yeah
Thanks!
More like in the design studio waste bin. haha
not before Aelves
Els are shit
You're never getting either
>thinks that one of the most popular and iconic races of the setting wont get anything
While I know that Chaos Knights are considered bread and butter for many, is it possible to use a combination of Chaos Warriors on foot in conjunction with Knights for a viable Slaves to Darkness army?
I also assume Chosen at least can be used an a variation of armies?
I really like the look of them and while I don't like the thought of gimping myself heavily, I also would rather not go a full Chaos Knight list. Just speculating at the moment before I start committing my wallet.
I know right? There's no way tomb kings aren't coming back
>one of the most popular and iconic races of the setting
which one? The one they destroyed or the one with the golden and spiky dudes?
Elfs arent popular or iconic to warhammer, wtf are you on?
>painted sylvaneth for a out 6 hours last night
>wake up this morning to see where I left off
>fucking don't k ow what happened between now and then but I hate the scheme
>throw the lot in some super clean and go to work
Life is pain
That guy to the left has a really thick mace handle
Damn man. Why didn't you just use one or two dummy minis to test the scheme before brutalizing your minis in super clean?
>Elfs arent popular or iconic to warhammer
Please do not be lewd user. It is too early for Slaaneshy observations.
>thinks that AoS is going to take a huge step backwards by implementing his boring derivative elf shit
I liked the scheme up until this morning, it's not that they came out awful, I just hated thr colors all of a sudden so i whipped up a 60/40 mix of water and super clean and left it to do its thing.
Normally what I do is I tend to take a mini and drown it in schemes till I am happy or think, then try it, fail to do that, try a second miniature. That said I tend to not change my schemes too much, just small steps here and there.
>thinks that elves are relevant to the setting
Maybe to lotr they are. When you say warhammer people think greekskins, chaos, skaven, witch hunters and brightwizards. Not shitty ass elfs.
its financially stupid not to do a battle-tome for Aelves. Even if you don't like them they are a huge part of the product line GW currently sells for AOS.
How much magical realm can I go with my dudes?
Like say some freeguild swordsmen backed up by all female sylvaneth with some pointy eared handgunners as their children.
That actually could work thematically but the converting would be a bloody nightmare. I mean, in the realms the race distribution seems pretty fair. With the exception of realm of death and beasts. Its not really magical realm unless its some kind of fetishy thing but Half elves and Elves/Human alliance seems pretty good.
>nightmare
>stick elf heads on handgunners, add 3rd party hats or greenstuff them in as required
Its getting the 3rd party hats and crafting the greenstuff for each of the minis assuming it isn't some skirmish warband.
>all those single digit numbers
Like pottery
>fucks sylvaneth to make half reeling babies
>gets dick splinters and tree chlamydia
Im sure tomb kings and empire had a decent range too
You are the one having lewd thoughts. I just pointed out how thick the handle is.
Agreed, elfs are fucking fake and gay.The main races(in fantasy and 40k) will always be the empire, the chaos, the orks, and the dwarves(mechanicus i guess, because squats are not aesthetic)
empire still have the best models by far desu
>Im sure tomb kings and empire had a decent range too
>had a decent range
>had
Would anyone have any recommendations for AoS novels? Perhaps any which features Nurgle?
Beats dark elves.
Plague Garden has a lot of Nurgle guys, though they exist only to job to Stormcast, including Nurgle himself at one point.
Nurgle jobs to the Stormcast or do you mean he just turns up?
Goddamnit, that kind of sucks though. Is it at least worth the read even though I know Nurgle guys get smashed?
normies be jealous of superior elf overlords
>Nurgle jobs to the Stormcast
Yes.
>Is it at least worth the read even though I know Nurgle guys get smashed?
Yes, I enjoyed it even if the eye rolling was a little thick on the ground at points. The Nurgle characters are all very fun and were the real stars of the book from my perspective.
Are there any manufacturers out there who make sigmar scale (32mm heroic, larger than 28mm heroic) female barbarian models suitable for use as either bloodreavers or marauders?
Mind spoiling me how Nurgle, the god, ends up screwing up? Do any of the Nurgle guys survive?
Can stormcast get vials of Thundarium yet?
I need to explode some babies with sludge-punching fury.
>Mind spoiling me how Nurgle, the god, ends up screwing up?
He's emerging from his manse when a super powered Stormcast explodes at him, ejecting all the other Stormcast from the Garden and making Nurgle scream like a bitch so loud it's heard across the universe.
>Do any of the Nurgle guys survive?
Yup.
Oh ok that isn't remotely as bad as I imagined. Least its not Kaldor Drago levels of stupid. Cool, I'll give it a go then.
The pirate guy survives. OC Nurgle characters die but one of them from the Order of the Fly dies a noble death defending the Stormcast. The Order of the Fly characters are basically Nurglite Brets or based on Brets so you will see a lot of talk about the Lady and about honour.
As for Nurgle, he raises from the depth of his garden. Intimidating sight indeed. However. Relictor carrying the souls of hundreds of Stormcast throws himself into the abyss towards Nurgle. As Nurgle reaches out for the shining light that is the Relictor and grabs him, the Relictor explodes into lightning and blaze of azyr burning Nurgle chubby fingers slightly wounding him.
>Defending the stormacast
I am guessing you mean defending them from the stormcast?
Thanks for the image, that's a surprisingly good little piece. I hope my local GW has it. Though I am still a bit concerned about the Stormcast's somewhat over similar character to space marines sans purge and heresy.
Plus its a bit strange the Chaos gods can now be physically interacted with like that. Daemon Primarch sure, but a god? Least it wasn't anything major.
>I am guessing you mean defending them from the stormcast?
Other Nurglites. Because he made an oath.
Nurgle characters seem a lot more human than Khorne or Slaanesh's bunch of that is their thing now.
It's just the Order of the Fly. Other Nurglitse roll their eyes at them.
Hearth is a fireplace inside a house.
Thanks
I knew there was something wrong within that short but fatal sentence, but couldn't figure out what it was lol
Bumping post to call for help for a potentially budding Slave to Darkness?
Stormcast are a lot more heroic since their origins usually come from self-sacrifice, while the Space Marines are raised from children. One of the authors spoke in an interview about the crucial difference between space marines and stormcast but I can't fin it
>Stormcast are a lot more heroic since their origins usually come from self-sacrifice
Being forcefully abducted against their will and transformed into reincarnating immortal lightning slaves, bound to sigmar's will isn't exactly what I would call "heroic self sacrifice"
Hi, I'm this guy And well, Chaos Warriors are viable since they're quite tanky and hit hard enough,
Problem is, they're also quite slow
Knights are usually considered a better option, even though they are more expensive on points, but imo they are still better
And about Chsens, imo they are too overpriced, being as slow as Chaos Warriors, hitting slightly harder and being a bit more tanky
But yeah you could perfectly make an army with knights and warriors
"Well, for starters, Space Marines are chosen as children, tortured by SCIENCE!, and then drafted into an eternity of being monastic murder machines whose sole purpose is to hold up the crumbling foundations of an omnicidal dystopia in the name of a rotting carcass that eats psykers like chiclets. They're emotionally stunted orphans who were brainwashed and weaponized before being unleashed on a galaxy where EVERYTHING is trying to kill them. They never even had a chance to be people before someone turned them into a gun instead.
Stormcast, on the other hand, are dead heroes, chosen for their valour and faith, resurrected and sent to free the Mortal Realms from the abominations currently running the show, on behalf of a benevolent god-king. They're traumatized heroes who had lives, personalities and histories prior to being crammed into primary colored hulkbuster armor and filled full of lightning so that they could go save their descendants from the eldritch horrors of a nightmare dimension. They endure death after death, losing a bit more of their soul each time, in order to prevent anyone else from suffering the fate which befell them.
One group are so far removed from humanity as to be utterly alien. The other group are so human it causes them pain. One group feels little in the way of emotion, the other group feels emotion as strongly as they did before death. One group hates and fears the alien. The other group allies regularly with space-lizards, skeletors and green monster-men. One group is the personification of the grim future in which they live. The other is a thing born of hope.
The similarities are cosmetic: big guys in easily paintable armor sell better than little dudes with fiddly bits. But the context for those cosmetic similarities is quite different."
Josh Reynolds
This is such an awesome quote. It very clearly describes the difference between space marines and stormcast eternals, and why I find the latter much more interesting. I've seen it before but I never saved it.
This is going in my quotables.
Thanks bro, really appreciate it. I just love their aesthetic and thinking of a shield wall. Or even charging into a bunch of Orruks and taking names with them. Will see what I can compile in that Warscroll creator but putting together a 1k army is brutal, everyone is so expensive in StD! Cheers.
Wow. That's something. I just hope Stormcast don't get plot armour levels like the Ultramarines, then I'm happy.
So on one hand, they should have a little bit of it (even as it pains me from residual ultramarine hatred).
The entire story of Age of Sigmar is how Sigmar crafts stormcast eternals out of lightning, souls, and metallic chunks of the destroyed core of the old planet with the help of Grungni and by gum SCE actually start winning. They are responsible for the first consistent victories against chaos in an "Age". From this spearhead, the other armies start making headway.
The other goodly armies either crutially help this in some way or are instrumental in having it come to pass depending on their fluff, but it's not called Age of Alariel or Age of Gordrak for a reason.
GW's obvious answer to this is the SCE's humanity and reincarnation. It lets them lose battles, suffer a little tragedy (loss of self) each time, but still be the big winning heroes on the larger scale. You get to keep the "turning point for the forces of hope" without the "literally can not ever lose to anything" that gets real boring real fast.
This. I have read about the stormcast eternals getting their asses kicked several times. Every single non-SCE battletome has a piece of fluff in there in one way or another about them taking on a big SCE detachment.
On top of this a majority of the SCE victories are of them dieing to the last man but sacrificing to accomplish their goal. I just find them very interesting.
I found the source of the quote, i think. I took a screenshot. I plan on using this everytime someone claims there is literally no difference between stormcast eternals and space marines.
>that silver colouring
They NEED to change that to the main Stormcast colour. It looks infinitely better than the golden spam on their armour. In fact I'd say it fixes the Stormcast full stop.
Soon
It honestly does
The golden spam gets annoying to a point, but with the silver plate, golden details, and blue for contrast is just perfect
As personal taste, I also like the Purple guys, what not many people does
Is SCE start collecting and Starter Set still a good way to start a SCE army? IIRC the starter set retributors and liberators kits come with no mace and grandweapons, right?
the alternate colors sce are mostly superior
Honestly the SCE start collecting is the worst deal of them all.
five minutes in photoshop
this is how Im going to make my stormcasts with some simple green stuff on the face and a robe to replace the shoulder pads
Looks pretty fucking cool
If I had to do my own Stormcast army, I think I would paint them Calaiban Green, Silver details, and maybe dark red for contrast
Inspired in the dark Angels, from 40k
I honestly like they'r colour scheme, I'd probably sculp robes
yeah, but it fills the starter set lacks. Maybe I should just buy two starter sets?
Oh fuck, those two metal bolts look like eyes, and the eye holes look like a mouth. The long nose looks like a tongue.
Holy shit, oh man.
How the fuck do you achieve that paint style? and those cracks?
Honestly I would, if you can go halvsies with someone for the khorne guys then its worth it.
That's what I will do. The lack of maces and grandblades/hammers worries me though
If you're playing casually, then your opponent may not care if you say the prime has the grandblade/grandhammer.
other than that, you could try to find single stormcast models on ebay and give them grand weapons, and just replace the starter models
Guys, back in May I made this bolter from warhammer 40k
Now I was thinking to make a Dwarf Runic Hammer, any ideas suggestions?
I'm downloading a lot of artwork of hammers and runic hammers, I'm going to make it similar to Thor's Hammer, with a bulky head and a somewhat short handle.
clever use of citadel texture paints on the model rather than the base. Doing up my frostlord on stonehorn in a similar fashon, and getting some nice rusty bits on the thundertusk's tusks.
Well, I mean they had the flammable rule...

I think he says that because Orruk just got some important releases
If he says for any other reason, must be bait
Orruk right now are one of the most popular races
Grot sky pirates when

Finished my unit of trolls, apart from bases. Had to order some 50mm rounds and they have yet to arrive
>that pinkish vomit
Looking good my guy. Those are some nasty looking lads.
Mind posting the list you use these bad boys in?
this is a good job user - this is the kind of wip I want to see in these threads
They look kawaii as fuck my friend
I wonder if the chaos dwarf wip guy died
Thanks! They really are fun models to paint, and it was nice to just slather them in lacquer without worrying about the "wet look".
The list I'm thinking about is as follows. Not sure about it all but I have most of the minis I need already. Any feedback appreciated

Love them, expecially the vomit. you chose warm colours and the result is pretty nice!
Also, what do you play?
Anyways, i'm painting after months and months of aphaty.
What are you working on?
woops fuck forgot to edit this list, I realize it is over 2k. Imagine one of the wolf rider units is (10) instead of (15), for a new total of 1920/2000
Tons of skaven stuff is waiting but I'm an idiot and I decided to paint old unused khorne models from storm of sigmar box
Which is totally fine.
i always get bored after a while-expecially when paining units-and so i need some extra, small projects like one single mini to take a break and enjoy something different.
Same. After these trolls, I am doing a single succubus for my Dark Eldar
Looks like a decent list to me. And as far as my experience has been, most people don't care if you're a few points over as long as you talk about it beforehand.
Planning on having the bow grots camp objectives while the chukkas hit juicy hero targets and the wolf riders and troggoths take care of the rest?
I've been playing a lot of Total Warhammer lately, and I was wondering, are there any good Warhammer fantasy audiobooks? I want to start listening to them when I go out on runs at night.
