>Have you ever made use of rejected or unused Star Wars material in your games?
I hate the idea of the Vong, but I'm currently using the concept of aliens from outside of the galaxy as the meta plot for my campaign.
Leo Flores
For X-wing, how would you do a tournament centered around a mission? Likely the Escort mission from the core sets?
I'd like to try a non- 100/6 format for next month's tournament, but I'm not sure how to balance it fairly.
Adam Perry
Are they force immune?
Jace Torres
>I hate the idea of the Vong, but I'm currently using the concept of aliens from outside of the galaxy as the meta plot for my campaign. there's also the Ssi-ruuk, alien velociraptors from the unknown regions that power their technology by draining living souls, who tried to invade the galaxy for more souls, the Nagai are edgy anime vampire-looking dudes from outside the galaxy who tried to invade for resources to take back their home from even meaner extra-galactic conquerors, the Yevetha are dudes from the deep core who learn super fast and feed their babies the blood of living sacrifices and tried to invade the galaxy because they're super racist and worship death, and the Charon, alien spiders from another dimension who also worship death and want to eradicate all life in the galaxy with their bio-organic tech but they can't because they don't have hyperdrives
then there's also Waru but we don't talk about him
Jace Butler
what's a good amount of debt for a Smuggler to be in? Big enough to be trouble but not big enough that paying it seems impossible.
Parker Hernandez
I agree. I feel like a few EU stories and especially NuCanon really undercut the power of ISDs. They're supposed to be an individual match for small fleets of enemies, but scenes like that shit at the end of Rogue One make them look like they're made of tissue paper. At Endor as mentioned before the outnumbered Imperial fleet was outright told not to open all their firepower on the Rebel fleet because it would've been destroyed so fast that Palpatine's plan would fuck up.
Caleb Wood
Have you heard the good word about our lord and saviour Waru?
Oh, its not the debt that gets you, its the Interest Rate
Jordan Miller
tissue paper? the initial what, 2? ISD's were severely outnumbered and mostly held their own, and Vader's ISD fucked the shit out of the rest
Justin Rodriguez
When a tiny freighter pushed them into each other and they crumbled?
Austin Cox
>tiny freighter it was a corvette pham. pushing a disabled ship (thus building velocity unrestricted) into another ship which had been sustaining fire from a small fleet.
the fact that the rebels, who again had superior numbers, were forced to resort to ramming tactics in order to take out just two star destroyers discredits the notion that the destroyers are made of tissue paper
Aiden Long
Shields are a big fucking deal in Star Wars ships You've got the Ray Shield to deflect radiation, lasers and shit. Then there's the Particle Shields to stop high speed projectiles like a protons, bullets and micro-meteors and then there's the Concussion shields to keep out big arse rocks, punks in A-wings and missiles.
If you lose your shields you are fucked They have armour, bulkheads and fairly hefty structure, but its not that massive construction with big slabs of metal like a battleship used to keep out stuff that will kill you. Think more like a submarine, its got some armour, but mostly its there to keep the air in

The only thing that can cut a star destroyer. Is another star destroyer.
Imperial durasteel folded over one million times by trained sith blacksmiths.

They should make swords out of the downed Stardestroyers on Jakku. They could make a ton of money by selling their unbreakable swords.

The idea is that sometime during the foundation of the first Jedi Order when locations for the main temple were being scouted. On one such world, a group of Jedi encounters a rift in space that leads to the dimension of a malevolent celestial being.
When one of the Jedi tries to reach through the portal with the force to make sense of it, he inadvertently lures the being out of the portal and into his mind; where it starts to manifest its colossal form. One one Jedi is able to survive long enough to seal the being inside six holocrons, which he scatters across the galaxy. If the holocrons are ever unlocked and reassembled, the creature will revive, and use its strange connection to the force to enslave the minds of every sentient in the universe.
The PCs have to work against a secret shadow cult that believes that the being can bring true balance to the force and peace to the galaxy after millennia of wars between the followers of the light and dark sides. To that end, they have infiltrated the ranks of the Rebel Alliance, the Empire, and a number of Mercenary guilds; manipulating them to locate and gather the holocrons for their own purposes.
That's a rough sketch of what I have planned. There's a bit more to it I could get into if anyone's interested in it.
Fuck, this is the first time I heard about that. I'd steered clear of any expanded universe stuff that took place long after RotJ.
I think my think is distinct enough from that. though admittedly, not by much.
Connor Rogers
>I think my think is distinct enough from that. though admittedly, not by much. I was more making the point that there's a bit of precedent, so you shouldn't feel like you have to compare yourself to any one thing. if the galaxy is big enough to have everything else, it's big enough to have your thing too
Bentley Jackson
Reposting from last thread: >I'm starting to struggle to make Scum lists for X-Wing. I'm entirely uninspired by most of the ships I own, and I just don't know what works well these days. Does anyone have any ideas that could help?
Wow, I completely misinterpreted the pilot ability on Talonbane. I might give that a shot.
My favourites are the Firesprays, specifically Boba, but I've not played him well in a while. I've got an M3-A on it's way to me now.

It's also worth noting that my most frequent opponent and I aren't fussed about having the cards for upgrades.

Rate my Swarm List
Soonthir Fel (27) TIE Interceptor - Royal guard TIE - PtL - TC - stealth device
Howlrunner (18) TIE fighter - Squad Leader - Stealth Device
Scourge (17) TIE fighter - Swam leader - Stealth Device
Youngster (15) TIE fighter - Crackshot - Stealth Device
the idea here is to have 3 TIE fighters fly in a swarm and Fel will break away from the swarm to do flanking manoeuvres. The 3 TIEs will be flying and attacking in a tight (if not) range 1 formation with most of the swarm abilities thrown into there including howlrunner and youngsters ability. While Youngster's ept can compliment the other TIES in the swarm including Scourge's ability.. it might be a tank against lone ships.
One con about this build is i think it might not fare well with bombers..
Nathaniel Miller
My friends are huge SW dweebs with only a board game background and wanna try tabletop, obviously in the SW universe. I'm probably the least well-versed in the SW universe, my knowledge is mostly obsolete (JK games and KotOR went non-canon), but I also am the only person that did RPGs before so I want to do a one-shot. Which system lends itself best for one-shots? The newest one looks really cool, but I wouldn't have the die and rulebook on hand
Eli Foster
How to make a good Scum list: Step 1: Jumpmasters. Step 2: that's literally it.
Josiah Diaz
make that two jumpmasters
Jaxon King
For one-shots, I would say that FFG's RPGs are your best bet. There are multiple beginner game boxes available, each packaged with pre-made characters, dice, rules, and a pre-made adventure designed to get new players acquainted with the system.
Elijah Phillips
FFG beginner boxes, any of the flavors with pre-made characters are easy peasy
Easton Butler
Well, you can now replace one Jumpmaster with Skurrgh, but generally you can't go wrong with Jumpmaster. It's just so ridiculously undercosted for what it does.
Hudson Reed
Youngster needs a new EPT stat - he can only benefit the rest of his Fighter buddies if he has an EPT with the "ACTION:" header. Consider swapping Crack shot for Howlrunner's Squad Leader for goofiness (no one takes their own actions but gives the other guy a free action). Howlrunner can take any 1 pt. EPT she chooses
Jayden Reed
besides Youngster and Scourge (im dreading to put this in my list because the Gonzanti Cruiser is a waste of space), Can Winged Gundark and Night Beast be a better alternative?
Logan Morris
I'm guessing Dengar, title, R5-P8, etc? I've only used my JM5K once, just before the Manaroo nerf. Might give it a shot, though I'm expecting to play an evade-heavy TIE list, or some B-Wings tonight.
Julian Diaz
I would suggest either Mauler Mithel, Backstabber, or Wampa
Look into the TIE/FO's as well such as Omega Ace, Omega Leader, etc.
Dominic Parker
>my knowledge is mostly obsolete (JK games and KotOR went non-canon)
You dont have to run new canon, you know. If you want to run old canon you absolutely can.
And if your friends are huge star wars nerds they may even appreciate/prefer that. I mean hell, just run Jedi Academy for them but with a party of padawans instead of just the one.
Benjamin Russell
Manaroo is still one of the best pilots around just because of mindlink and the jumpmaster chassis.
I ran Boba and Dengar for a while, went undefeated in Swiss at regionals a year or so ago.
VI boba w/ andrasta, bomblet, cad, engine and Dengar w/ VI, K4, Unhinged is probably pretty solid
Colton James
Bomba Fett, ey? Not something I've considered before, I usually go for maximum damage output for him. I must confess, I'm not sure on that setup for him.
Christian Thomas

Soontir, another Squint, Mauler Mithel and 3 further TIEs go well with literally anything as a CAP.
Zachary Howard
Good freighter for a crew of 5 pirates? My players are gonna steal this in their intro game and will probably keep it as their main ship - knowing them, they'll find a way to acquire a fighter soon enough.
Jeremiah Watson
Still new to Armada...but what's a CAP?
James Walker
Any of them, really, once you've taped on an Ion Cannon or two, but if you want a specialized pirate-y ship that still looks like a regular freighter, the best one would be the Telgorn 4R3 in Dangerous Covenants, though it's about twice the recommended starting price, but that'd be balanced by the wide array of issues that'd come of flying around in a stolen pirate ship
Logan Reyes
Is it just me or are heavy tractor beams a little bit outrageous in the FFG RPGs?
GM started us off in a stripped down Gozanti-class Armed Transport. We managed to rig one where it'd normally have the proton torpedo launcher. I have no idea what to do with it now that it's on there, though.
Brayden Green
Damn, that's a mean ship. I was thinking about something less roomy, I'll keep this ready for a surprise encounter somewhere down the line.
What about a YT-2400? Pretty snazzy, doesn't seem too strong, keeps the CEC aestethic without being a NotFalcon. All but one of my players have only seen the movies, so I feel that giving them some sense of familiarity might help.
Andrew Adams
Kappa-class shuttle. It's yuuuge inside, has enough to keep 4 players busy or 5 if one's in charge, has a couple hardpoints, and with the right coat of paint you can sneak up on prey as imperials, rebels, or anything in between.
Daniel Moore
>What about a YT-2400? If you get into a space fight you're going to have a rough time finding things for 5 lads to do.
>less roomy Loronar E-9 Explorer-Class Long Range Scout? (Enter the Unknown p. 62)
Henry Lewis
Are there any Species in the FFG RPGs with multiple arms? I have a player who wants a Trench thug with a shotgun, and I'd like to oblige him.
Ah, the party is actually fairly small, three players with maybe a fourth joining in a month or so; they're stealing it from the 5 pirates. All suggestions have been duly noted, though. The E-9 might actually be just what I need.
Aiden Martinez

Put a cheeky autopilot droid on the ship integrated into the copilot's seat that berates them when they don't do something piratey.
Matthew Barnes
You mean, besides the horribly overworked R5 astromech and the adorably bumbling herd of B1s?
Nicholas Martinez
A modified 2400 is possible, sure, and the classic Ghtroc 720 would also work The problem is going to be finding things for all five of them to do in a space fight; even with falcon-style turrets there's really only work for four (gunners, pilot, engineer)
Also be advised that FFG fighter combat is a terrible, unfun mess and you'd be well served to look into homebrew before giving the PCs a fighter
Lucas Collins
Already downloaded some houserules. I'll probaly throw everything out of the window and just make every space fight a cinematic branching adventure with rolls involved.

One of the players in my Saga campaign is running a slugthrower rifle and wants to grab Riflemaster with a homebrewed slugthrower benefit, but I'm not sure what the hell to give him that won't be underwhelming versus the original benefits or overpowered.
For reference, the original feat benefits are - Blaster Carbine: You can brace a blaster carbine set to autofire, even though it is not an autofire-only weapon. Blaster Rifle: You treat the blaster rifle as an accurate weapon. Heavy Blaster Rifle: When you use a heavy blaster rifle, the damage dice increase from d10 to d12. Light Repeating Blaster: You treat the light repeating blaster as if it were Medium instead of Large.
Anyone familiar enough with Saga to give suggestions?
Hunter Bell
It's not an Armada terms, it stands for Combat Air Patrol.
Basically, it's pretty good at tying up your opponents fighters, doesn't cost the earth and doesn't need Squadron commands to function. Howlrunner might make them more deadly, but Mithel's ability to splash down and kill for sure anything on 1hp, including unique pilots can be really handy, and effectively allows him to move and attack, something Howlrunner doesn't bring to the table. That said, Howlrunner instead of Mithel isn't a bad idea either, and neither is replacing that second Interceptor with an Advanced so you can make sure that Soontir's ability is going to go off although the lack of speed 5 means that Soontir has to slow down for his escort, and lot of the Squints viability is his ability to jump speed 5 on something and pin them down.
Zachary Cruz
Uuuh, maybe the ability to place an extra mod on the rifle? Or the ability to craft a plethora of custome ammo? Been a long time since I last played Saga, sorry

Someone has an adjusted duty table for AoR around here somewhere. If you ask nicely they might post it.

So I want to run a premade module with characters my group has designed that will later run into a campaign I'm planning.
I have a smuggler, a bounty hunter and a Jedi hopeful whose master was captured and is searching for a Jedi to guide her. The bounty hunter fell in with the smuggler a year prior to campaign start after fucking up a contract and basically getting shitlisted by the BHG.
What module do you guys think would be the easiest to tailor to a greater overarching campaign? It could be nice if it could involve their budding criminal relationship with a Quarren crimelord (they're all shitlisted by the Hutts), and have room for a plausible excuse to pair them up with the Jedi.
Thanks Veeky Forums. Pic related, it's my three-hours-in-Photoshop attempt at a photomanip poster for the campaign. (all credit to the artists I shamelessly stole from to use as renders and for my PCs' likeness)

Why the hell do you pay for EUs on all your ships? Hull upgrades or stealth devices would be much better, or LWF on Duchess. Seriously she has a boost built in, she doesn't need it. Otherwise it's way too damn fragile.
Honestly I think the list idea works a lot better with four TIE/FOs.
I've actually done pretty well with this list, considering it was made to justify buying a 4th TIE/FO.
I'll get around to painting my Armada squads eventually. Looks like fun. How small of a brush do you use?
Ayden Lopez
I'm purposely letting the game start be a few months away. I'm planning to let my players vote for Imperial Army, Imperial Stormtroopers, Imperial Officers, or Imperial Navy. I'm going to give a rough draft explanation of my ideas. Imperial Army: (Armored) Session 1, have the players man a AT-AT in a Imperial Assault during a Imperial Army raid on a rebelling fringe colony to have them get used to vehicle combat roles. Session 2-?0, The players are stationed on a desert/arid fringe planet with their choice of outdated & ran-down old repulsorlift tank (TX-130 Saber-class fighter tank with less dakka and hull) or Experimental Light Scout Landspeeder (A-A5 speeder truck equipped with mounted E-Web heavy repeating blasters and single laser cannon equipped as main turret). They are ordered by a poorly funded imperial military base to be stationed in a mining town. This will lead to them becoming involved with two factions that control the town, a possible link to a hidden rebel base on the planet, and eventually it will lead u

Well, not only did I by mistake press enter. But the second half my post is too long for the field. It was a mess anyways so lets pretend that never happened.
To sum it up. I'm going to let my players vote for several different imperial branches and each one will be different from the other. I'm wondering if anybody has done either a Imperial Army, Stormtrooper Corps, Imperial Officer, or Imperial Fleet game? and if so, then might adding an recommendation to my stone soup?
Nathaniel Allen
I planned an imperial campaign once that never got off the ground, but the premise was that the group was part of a task force run by Imperial Intelligence that hand-picked specialists from different branches to undertake various counter-rebel operations. Basically an excuse to let them be a variety of classes/backgrounds and give them a little bit of extra freedom, but if you're looking for more of a hard military theme that might not fit the bill

EU is my usual go-to, I mostly play scum. My list was a pure experiment to get maximum red dice, not a 4x TIE list.
Hunter Moore
Excuse me but a Captain Crievous wielding a collection of swords made of downed spaceships is now a villain in my Campaign
Carson Harris
Nice
TIE swarms and the interdictor don't have any innate synergy. Interdictor doesn't have any experimentals that really benefit them and doesn't have a high squadron value. (You can kind of benefit them, either forcing ships to speed zero and nose-punching them while they can't spend tokens, or dragging the station somewhere Whisper can abuse the fuck out of it).
It's got both an offensive and support slot, which is what made it the original nose-punch carrier before the Quasar dropped, but that's for bombers with Rhymer. (And predated the Rhymer and BCC nerfs). So it can lend itself to bomber lists somewhat, although the Quasar is better.
But for just raw TIEs, there's no real synergy. You can still throw both into the same list, but they're two big chunks of points that you'll have to make the rest of the list benefit from.
Colton Moore
>I'll get around to painting my Armada squads eventually. Looks like fun. How small of a brush do you use?
Not that user, but I use the same brush I use for basically everything else, which is... an army painter "regiment" brush
If you play rebels the hardest part of painting squadrons is deciding which ones to wash with agrax and which to wash with nuln oil

They should do that to Dreadnought-class heavy cruisers. That would get you a proper Katana Fleet to sell to space mall ninjas.
