If I use secondary style against Cally Lynx, I have only to spend one energy point to change the fight against Emily from a Draw to a Victory. The other fights I win all by one victory and one draw. I suppouse it would be more dramatic if the order of enemies were reversed, going from easiest fight to the hardest (with the rival). As a reward I would problably choose Master All You Survey.

I liked very much the choice of images of this CYOA, but I was hoping for more personal information on the enemies on the second page for more dramatic purposes.

Well not exactly. "Uncivilized" doesn't mean "evil". In the case of trolls it's their regeneration that makes them ugly. A civilized troll isn't taking significant damage, so they aren't regenerating and getting all tumor-faced. An adventuring or wild troll might not be evil, but still get into a lot of fights, or an evil troll might not get into fights at all.

That's true, but not the full extent of the intent. Trolls actually *will* grow uglier if they act in a brutish manner, even if they are not hurt.

Anyone read In the Company of Giants, from Rite Publishing? The troll sounded a lot like the Vird/Osoem split, to me.
I also like to think that the reason no troll can use magic, is because they already are. Their magic hardwired directly into their regeneration, and because of this, the state of the soul channeling that magic significantly effects the body that it is repairing. It has a passive effect, because a healthy body is constantly replacing old cells, thus constantly changing.
As the troll ages, their magic gets more powerful, thus letting it maintain a larger body without it just collapsing on itself due to the square cube law. This effect seems to plateau at the twenty five feet mentioned in the description, though there really isn't an indication of when that happens.

Just my headcannon, though. I'm not the author.

The CYOA doesn't actually specify that they can't use magic though. Most trolls are a bit dim he says, so one would generally assume they are just too stupid to do it and don't have any innate talents like several other options. Maybe their regeneration IS their "innate" magical talent, but they could still learn regular magic if they had a mind to.

Naw, the no magic if you aren't told you have it was something I got told by acheld when I thought the same thing. He called it a balance thing, so lich and golem weren't complete garbage. And regenerating, immortal wizards are just a wee bit OP.

It really would be nice if that was in the actual text, though, instead of being word of god. Maybe if it ever get's an update?

Might as well just pick a Djinni. You'd look even more human than the Dryad, be harder to kill (Bonsai tree is a lot more vulnerable than totem), and not have to limit your magic at all.

That's why I was arguing for the Dryad's territory to expand over time last thread. As is they are too inferior to Djinn

The description also tells us that we are not going to be dim like the other trolls, so perhaps magic would still be an option.

The point is that after a few hundred years it starts to expand very slowly, and after several millennia you can travel pretty far. I'd say "the country" but that's massively variable. Being limited to 10 miles FOREVER is ridiculous.
