As a serious answer, Belasarius Cawl's lifespan of more than 10.000 years confirms that there is at least a potential to literally become age-old.
However, he's a fairly special character. I assume a Magos can continuously replace his failing body parts, be they organic or mechanical, until they find themselvesin a situation in which they cannot be repaired (no local resources) or are killed.

How often do Magos' become so old that their potential for death is directly tied to a lack of parts?

Rarely. More likely causes of death are politics, equipment malfunction, experiment gone wrong, enemy action, or failure to attain sufficient rank/prestige to be granted access to advanced life-sustaining equipment before organic failure.

If you replace all the individual parts of a person one a time is it the same person?

Yes, the answer is yes.

Might well estimate it at roughly 300-500+ years, with many notable exceptions.

Actually, as somebody not versed in warhammer, isn't there the issue of a magos' brain decaying to the point that it needs to be replaced? how is it even the same person if they replace the entire brain with machinery, wouldn't that just make them a robot?

Does having a waifu help tech priests regulate their testoasterone levels?

You replace it one cell at a time with vat grown neurons.

Thanks user.

Technically, it's heresy for them to be 100% machine, but who's really checking?

Well you can't really replace a brain so I guess they can't be 100% machine unless cawl (and other members of the adeptus mechanicus) is secretly a man of iron

They do it piece by piece, like removing the emotional centre and replacing it with more hard disk space, etc etc etc. Do they eventually reach a point where 100% of the brain is machine but somehow their personality and conciousness is still saved and running in there?

They can, but that's Tech Heresy. There was a guy who did it in Dark Heresy 1e: Nomen Ryne, and his many robot bodies, the False Men of Nomen Ryne.

That said, a number of them do replace significant parts of their brains with computer parts; there's a ritual called the Rite of Pure Thought that involves removing nearly half the brain to excise all emotional thought, and replacing it with the the pure logic of a computer.

It's fairly well implied that Cawl actually might be an AI at this point. He just doesn't give a fuck.

He's also the only one who has been able to reverse engineer and improve upon any of the Imperium's technology, so even if he is an AI and thus heretical in the extreme, it's not like they can do anything about it. They need him too much.

Well there has been cases of people having their organic brain replaced with memory Crystal stacks or transferring their consciousness totally to a machine. First was in the Eisenhorn novels and second.. I cant remember but wit was a techpreist on the verge of death and totally by accident.

Cawl probably achieved it with Xenos tech since we was considered radical even during the era of the Mechanicum when they actually innovated.

Every 7 years every cell in your body has replaced itself; are you the same person you were 8 years ago?

That is factually incorrect

Most, but not all. Some brain cell will only be replaced when damaged. There was a woman who ost 40% of her brain and after a year or so it has grown back. Our body is capable of crazy shit.

Kys faggots

>Tech Heresy.
What are other Tech Heresies? I'm curious now.

Explorator magi often go journeying far away from forgeworlds with rouge traders.

Coin-flip

Take a list of things Cawl has done, the guy did basically all the tech heresy besides stuff with daemon engines.

Let's get real for a moment.
Is there some weird way to actually read a message in the binary, or is it entirely just lolrandom numbers as a joke?

What was her brain like, post-healing? Was she relatively similar to how she was before the brain damage?

His "totally not an AI guys" thing is a warp powered machine imprinted with his mind but can somehow think for itself and communicate across great distances, so we might as well stick daemon-tech on the chargelist too.

Convert to numbers, translate using ASCII table.

can you even not lose the coin-flip? Or you do every time (cant remember)
