It's a lighthearted, hopeful story in an otherwise dark and dismal setting.

Your hero is after one last big score before hanging his belt and joining "modern" society. He wants to leave his past behind but as he shoots his bounty, his bounty shoots him. Your Protagonist had the better shot with his bounty dead. Now his antagonist arrives.

Your antagonist isn't a person. It's the memories of simpler life, his wife, maybe his family

I think the setting is dark sunesque desert and a major point is that all life aggregates within the hollowed shells of ancient divine crabs. Each such community forms a nation and the players are one of them, a smaller one. Then, for some reason, the sun goes out, and everybody realizes that the only thing worse than the scorching sun is the icy darkness that follows it's death. Players need to save their community.

Not really desu. But I read the lyrics to the Rasputina song and listened to no more hotdogs again today. I think you're right about the setting and antag. Protag would be a self loathing smart peasant woman. I would play this game.
