How do you make Archenemy work with commander, aside from "poorly". Jack up the Archenemy's life and commander damage necessary?

>tfw Boros will never have an actually good commander

Depala is okay in my books.

It's probably going to be Mirri when I play it. Everyone in my group goes wide and I'm just going to ruin their shit with one creature, while making spells a bitch to cast and removing tons of permanents

If I slam this guy down I get focused at the start fortunately there is a really bad Tasigur player that will save me as long as I give him cards he wants from his yard.

No commander damage rule, 80 or 100 life for the archenemy, and no infinite combos. Being the 1 guy trying to stop 3 others from combining off turn 4 sounds like hell

forgot to post the picture like a fucking retard.

I'm hoping they give Boros a few more "everyone but target opponent gets nice things" since it fits in white and red, as well as being a decent way of giving boros actual card draw.

It always pains me to see this. I look through the catalog of Boros commanders, and I'm always dissapointed.
You have Aurelia, Gissela, Iroas, Maybe Basandra, and Depala if you build here right.

It seems like the only way to have an effective Boros deck is to shill out for power cards.

The deck I have for now is Aurelia with a nice colletion of mana rocks, MLD, and a Sunforger package with all the best answers I and find, including the best non-blue counterspells in the game.

I still haven't figured out what to what to do from there. I have a few equipment tutors, but few pieces of equipment other than Sunforger.
I'm also having trouble finding the right amount of creatures to wear said equipment.

> What commander will instantly make someone the supervillain at your table?
The commander of the guy that took the slice of pizza but said he won't want any when we were fucking ordering.

I'm going to do it.

I'm going to build Oona Mill. The idea is really simple; it's really a colourless deck. I just need to do monoblue artifact shenanagians and maybe spash some reanimator for shits and giggles. Doubling cube is going in there with a bunch of untappers like voltic key, dramatic reversal and paradox engine. How many rocks is too many?

I plan on using:
>Mana Crypt
>Sol ring
>Thran Dynamo
>Thought Vessel
>Worn powerstone
>Gilded Lotus
>Sisays ring
>Dimir Signet
>Everflowing Chalice
>Astral Cornicopia

Any black artifacts matter cards I should think about? Phlactary Lich and Cranial Plating look pretty cool, but I can't think of any others worth including. Maybe Marionette Master?

Psst

Illusionist's Bracers and Rings of Brighthearth

I always wanted to build an Iroas deck with a bunch of little indestructible creatures and meaningless devotion machines to help him crush everyone at the table.

Can you put less colors on your deck than what your commander's color identity has?

How viable can a Ramos deck but just manaramp and draw X card engines can be?

I want to make it as a subtle simic deck.

anything I should add or cut for this?

tappedout.net/mtg-decks/scion-and-dads-reanimator-combo/

basic scion reanimator but with new dragon cards added

Yes, there's no rule stating that you have to put red cards in Ramos if you don't want to.

It's pretty common to use a commander just for their colours. More so these days with eminence and Oloro type effects

Here is some inspiration for monoblack Oona: smileylich.com/mtg/magocracy/visual/Geth_Oona_Sisters_visual.html

This guys runs either monoblack Oona or Geth and it's almost all mana ramp to just pump their ability as much as possible and eat people's decks.

Good to know, what would be a good 5-color commander that would also be a good sultai commander?

Ramos is probably your best bet.

depends what you're doing with sultai
you can do literally anything in BUG

Direct damage spells?

what? why? burn is terrible in edh unless its with generals like neheb the worthy

How many of you folks play Cube?

>ramp with green
>high tide and black mana making to help
>fuel it into a huge exsanguinate and echo mage it

Exsanguinate
some swamp based spells IIRC

Sure, why not?

Excellent call, strionic resonator, monoblue tezzeret and Planeswalker Teferi are going in there too. Maybe Jin-jan augur man because I'm going to have a fuck ton of mana. I think deadeye could work too for various shenanagians, but I'd really rather not tutor up combo peices.

That was a really cool link, thanks! I don't have a lot of those cards but urborg into coffers is probably really strong. I was going to run high tide in the monoblue version, but that link gave me some neat ideas.

What's the Strionic for?

Fuck the other shop's commander. Combo after combo deck. I fucking jumped through a million hoops, dealt with so many combos and still died to slivers playing their entire deck.

And they insisted that I had a chance when I said my deck wasn't strong enough to beat combo. If they said "gid gud", I'd be better off, but no they insisted my deck was fine and that I put up a good effort.

I don't have a big enough group of like-minded players to play reliably.

Some cubes are very fun though.

Strionic goes infinite with Paradox Engine and a few rocks.

Every once in a while.

its my favorite format by far, commander distant second

It is the greatest of the formats.

I don't get people who can call infect or MLD cancer but run this bitch and Stranglehold. And Demonic Consultation for it.

How is that consistent?

i'm making a big fucking card order and i want to burn more money on stupid shit

throw some cuhrazy cards at me

my decks are BUG reanimator, RGU timmy madness, WB lifegain and mono B gonti

That's a very specific anecdote user. Who hurt you?

Cheers. It's a great resource so I like to share it. His decks are extremely Timmy and often creative.

well that plus strangelhold only wins if the whole board has no enchantment or creature removal in hand when you do it. because they can just untap and kill one of them

whereas MLD has much less counterplay possibility without centralizing the metagame around the same Ux mana rock decks

infect is just plain bad in commander so idk what people are complaining about there

Better question, what isn't it for? I mostly wanted it for scrap trawler and treasure keeper type effects so I can double down on a trinket mage or what have you.

original dual lands, zendikar expeditions, masterpieces, invocations

you're right, buying those would make me crazy

to clarify, im looking for spicy tech

>Candelabra of Tawnos
Jesus christ
>no clock of omens, darksteel citadel, vault of whispers
Alright then

tappedout.net/mtg-decks/inalla-and-the-magus-conclave/
Looking for suggestions on what to cut or what I could add for spice. I think I've finally found the commander I needed to sit down and finish a deck. I've ordered a few staples already, so I'm committed now. Cards I'm unsure of at the moment are Havengul Lich and Aphetto Alchemist among others.

Give me all of your black "pay/lose life to do thing" cards. Necropotence, Night's Whisper, Hatred, Withering Boon, all that fun shit

I'm avoiding tutors and want to just go balls to the wall suicide by drawing cards and doing cool shit at the cost of my life total

I just got back from a comic shop's commander night and am pissy. There was more going on, but this stood out to me. Someone complaining about Infect and saying they'd never run MLD or Strip Mine someone's Reliquary Tower, but then proceed to tutor for this every turn.

Fair. I did manage to kill Mornsong both times, but Stranglehold was the only thing keeping Hivelord from winning and I was in UR and didn't draw a Chaos Warp or Oblivion Stone.

I guess you're right about MLD.

I just hate that this is the guy who ran fucking Omen in his Locust God deck and he pulls this shit. I can't read people for shit.

Do you already have all the obvious staples? Demonic Tutors, Survival of the Fittest, Natural Order and what not?

Kuro, Pitlord

without looking at your deck and you said you had animator

Hecatomb, Strands of Night, Wall of Blossoms

Candelabra of Tawnos is extremely good when you're running a lot of mana doublers like Nirkana Revenant, Caged Sun, etc.

I'm building Nazahn and looking for Equipment with lower casting costs but high equip costs. Any personal recommendations?

Avacyn is pretty good. batterskull and basilisk collar have very good interactions with avacyn

i hate playing staples and goodstuff

i actually refuse to remove a creature unless it involves a 3-card interaction that also ramps me by 1 and draws me 2 cards

Why does playing on Cockatrice with cards I don't own feel so empty?

How essential is All Is Dust in a colorless deck? I want to build one but I am not willing to drop 20 bucks on a sorcery

It's pretty important since it's your only reliable board wipe (outside of O-Stone), which are pretty essential in EDH. I wouldn't pass up on it if you can help it.

Wine of Blood of Iron

Blades of Selves, Grappling Hook, Heartseeker, Scythe of the Wretched.

Necrologia, Ad Nauseum, Greed.

you might wanna play propaganda, meekstone and marchesas decree

>Rings of Brighthearth

why does this never get reprinted?

It's an absolute bomb and one of the best cards in a colorless deck. Colorless isn't cheap to build desu.

Because Cockatrice sucks

>lower casting costs but high equip costs
But why

Because it's a slope with no reason to stop. Why shouldn't you play Timetwister and Chains of Mephistopheles? Who's stopping you? Throw in all the fetches and shocks. ABUR Duals. Hell, there's no cost for a Black Lotus, make a deck with four. And then you look and realize your deck isn't just something you can never own, it's something you wouldn't WANT to own.

>Why would you want to play something that's balanced around a high equip cost with something that reduces all equip costs to 0 at instant speed?
Really churns the ol' sodium/potassium pumps.

Nazahn tutors for any Equipment, including Hamer of Nazahn, an Equipment that makes him indestructible and lets you equip any Equipment you control when it enters the battlefield.

I think its this and the fact that I want to win with my deck. The one I put together with my limited resources, it's a lot more unique. Games I've won against people with my built decks were far better than the ones that had Imperial Seal and all kind of other wacky shit

Playing games over the Internet no longer gives me any pleasure, no matter what the game is

There is little point to owning an illegal deck and Chains of Mephistopheles isn't played in any format. It's expensive due to rarity and history.

I regret to inform you that your colorless deck is going to be complete trash if you can't afford to spend $20 on one of the very best cards for that archetype

Ugin and Karn are more expensive than that

>He's never played against a Nath dropping an early Chains.
Lucky you.

even chaturbate?

dude every card is fucking shit except atraxa lmao

I know what it does but it's very rarely played. It shuts down draw spells.

If you had to recommend one of the C17 decks to a fairly new player, which would you choose?

Vampires or Cats

Vamps out of the box.

Cats. There's a lot of interesting one-off mechanics that can help teach stack sequencing, triggers and proper play order, and Arahbo helps get them familiar with the combat step and using instant-speed abilities. The other commanders are all good choices for taking the base in multiple directions, too.

C16 Atraxa deck

Ramos, Dragon Engine is one of only a few cards from C17 to pique my interest, how would you build around him?

who /upgradeboys/ here

just cut cyclonic rift from my maelstrom deck and replaced it with open fire

fuck cyclonic rift

Open fire is very strong

I just cut "playing with people I don't like" for "leaving the store in a huff".

Dragonstorm. Basically a huge colorfixing ritual in the command zone

Cloven Casting and other fun gold matters cards.

Got pic related today, and I'm kinda hype to get my Slivers started. You guys get any nifty shit recently?

Don't be that guy.
Atraxa is fun, but it's shits like you that make my janky +1/+1 build get hated off the table ever game.

What can I build into a red/green werewolf/wolf deck to make it interesting in a casual tabletop setting? Looking at Zada and Neheb takes away from the wolf shit tier stuff and turns it into a build around them basically. I suck at deck building

Just wear your fursuit.

Haven't got any new toys recently but you did remind me of pic related

AC is busted, too hot for that. Any other suggestions not pertaining to our fetish?

Atraxa is cancer and I hop every retard dies for playing this shit.

Yeah, early Kessig Wolf Run and just focus on having a ton of dorks and making absurd amounts of mana.

Anyone else get triggered when people bring non English cards to lgs. I mean I have the Internet in my pocket so I can be as anal as I want about card text. But some kids come in on occasion and I don't think they would be confident or knowledgeable enough about the game to call out bullshit when or if it happens.

Your still salty you can't grab one for less than a Benjamin aren't you sperg?

Dropping a Kaalia.

Seems simple enough and already the direction was working in. Think I was hoping for some dumb secret tech shit so any friends who played it casual wouldn't be just playing a beater deck with wolves. Appreciate it user.

I just don't play with kids.
