Tell me about Your Dudes Veeky Forums. I don't give a single fuck about what game they're from, as long as they're Your Dudes. Your terrible conversions and awful choice of colour scheme don't matter either, they're YOUR Dudes, our opinion doesn't matter, except when you want it to. Don't have any models to show? Tell us about them anyway.

Here, I'll start.

Duonian Tunnel Ghouls: Imperial Guard regiment who specialist in subterranean combat. Planet was virus bombed to fuck, and has a serious ravener infestation. They live in underground bunkers 100% of the time, and speak almost entirely in sign language due to the fact that noises cause ravener attacks. Other people think they're creepy, and they think other people are loud and obnoxious. They hate pretty much everyone on the surface, and only respect their own. They also all carry a single grade who's sole purpose is to collapse tunnels in case of an enemy attack. They are a fun bunch.

Now its your turn.

Wot da zog?

miniwargaming posted some guys ork conversions on their facebook. I thought they looked neat.

I mean it's kinda cool, and I get that it's orks so it may be what they were going for, but it just seems really slapped together and mishmashed.

Pykan Twist-Regiments: The world of Pyka provides its annual tithe to the Imperial Guard as per any faithful world. However, roughly once every ten years the regiments mustered are different. They are issued concealing equipment, are given more hazardous assignments, and rarely if ever speak to those outside their own regiment. They tend to be insular and keep even their foes at a distance, preferring artillery and drawn-out static battle versus more mobile encounters. Notably, they have many snipers.

It's theorized that Pyka's "twist-regiments" are made up of mutants, prisoners, deserters, and other renegades offered a choice between service or death. However, the normal disciplinary problems associated with such elements simply fail to materialize. How Pyka keeps such a hold on its lowest elements is unknown.

The secret is Pyka honors the deal- if you make it through service with the Guard, you get to come home again.

Here are my age of sigmar dudes. Feel free to let me know what you think.

Order of the Untarnished Shrine.

Basically there was a heavily militarized hive world which turned out to be a necron tomb world. The space skellies woke up when they dug too deep and came pouring out. One by one the planets defenses were overwhelmed and the defenders pushed back until all that was left was a rag tag band cobbled together from the remnants of the Pdf, Arbites, noble house guards, and Gangers all dug in with a small pocket of civilians at a shrine on a hill. When a crusade sent to retake the plannet arrived 3 days latter the rag tag army was dead almost to a man, but by the grace of the Emperor they had held and the shrine was completely untouched by the battle, along with the women and children inside.

The Cardinal who lead the crusade, declaring it to be a miracle and the fallen to be holy martyrs, ordered that a convent fortress of the Adeptus Sororitas be built around the shrine, and an Order founded to protect it and honor the memory of those who had consecrated the land with their blood. Making it forever more holy ground.

I remember your dudes from earlier. Would love to hear more about them.

Might post my own mono-Nurgle WoC army fluffed as an ex-Mercenary Company when I get access to them.

¨The Talons of Terra

Raven Guard successors. Official name of a primarily Primaris chapter that, being seen as not belonging with regular Astartes, found refuge in the awe that they inspire in humans of the Imperial Guard. Rank structure, organisation, naming of outfits is strongly inspired when not downright copied by IG systems and they themselves act like a stealth-focused special forces battallion. Each one of their ten companies has a perticular purpose, be it alpine, amphibious, urban action or just simple infiltration, with the last three companies dedicated to CAS, armoured support and heavy weapon specialisations. Their colours vary based on their home company and their current affiliation to a task-force: urban operations lead to armour being painted in a camouflage scheme of greys and reds, while alpine operations lead to plain white suits.

Yes, I have a list of what every company does, their standard colours and a few named characters to go with it.

DDK offshoot who grow thier entire population as tube babies. They believe a sort of buddhist version of the imperial truth where you reincarnate, but its based on how hard you died for the emporer. Their motto is "We'll meet again". They have a deal with rouge mechanicus sects to maintain their tech. They're also fated to eventually fall to tzeentch.

Kabal of the Gilded Crown

Before the fall, a noble Eldar house, the Gilded Crown's greatest vice was the decadence of royalty. Lavish and garrish clothes, precious metal skingrafts, and entire Craftworlds of dedicated servants all marked the utter devotion they had to their concept of "royal". When the Eldar civilization fell, the Gilded Crown refused to lose their dignity. They formed into a small-but-secure Kabal, and quickly adapted to the politics of the Dark City. Maintaining contact with Ylt'heort, their last remaining personal Craftworld, the Gilded Crown have a reputation for honor in their contracts and guns in the shadows to make sure their correspondents are treated with the regal respect they deserve. They have a small, personal Coven (the Coven of the Ardent Scepter), who converts any treacherous prisoners into loyal Scourges - the gargoyles of their castle.

interested as to why they are fated to fall. Some deal made by leaders in the past or what?

Gothic as fuck, like it a lot. For some reason I get a Bloodborne vibe from the way you describe them, but it could just be me.

>Sensible marines used in a sensible way
REEEEEEEEEEEE GET OUT OF MY 40K!
Nah, seriously, I quite like the idea. Though the idea of specialisation by environment seems rather conservative to me for ubermenshen with decades of training and combat experience and superlative gear. Having to wait for those other guys specialized in that other environment rather than doing with the marines at hands who would most likely be just fine in any but the most absolutely extreme contexts seems like wasting time in 99% of the cases.

Honestly considering who they are I would think they'd jist all be cross trained really.

Fluff-wise, they are cross-trained and able to operate in every environment: the formation of effective task-forces would not be really efficient. They are just divided up based on the personal experience of commanders and individual proficiencies, so that you get versatile task-forces and potenzially ultra-specialized strike groups to employ in their area of expertise.

Angels of Atonement

Chapter of renegade Dark Angels who've come under the influence of Cypher. Lead by Venerable Grand Master Obadiah, a Chaplain in Dreadnought armor, who was very influential in the forming of the chapter. Unbeknownst to the chapter, Obadiah was actually killed in the initial rebellion, and his armor is being puppeted by a 1st Legion techmarine in order to keep the Chapter from dissolving.

Why are Dark Angels always shenanigans?

Which is not to say I don't like it, it's just...why?

A Thousand Sons Sorcerer named Ignatius Ro. As a former member of Magnus' royal bodyguard, time and fate have granted him the freedom to do as he pleases. He never conspired with Ahriman, and has always been in Magnus' good graces. His brother, Mabius Ro, was turned into a Rubricae by Ahriman, and although he knows that his brother would have succumbed to the flesh curse eventually, he will never condone what Ahriman did. He is skilled in the art of daemonancy, however he prefers to manipulate his enemies to fight against themselves instead. He has many projects currently unfolding throughout the galaxy, and is willing to do business with almost anyone. Prior to the invasion of Fenris, he traveled the galaxy with his personal guard of scarab occult terminators (as well as a small entourage of tzaangors) and offered his services to anyone able to offer him valuable or forbidden knowledge. He was called, along with most of his chapter, to invade Fenris, and has since been staying close to Magnus and his forces, although not quite close enough for Magnus to actually be in the same tabletop game. Yet. Should the worst happen, he has contingencies in place to keep himself from death.

Well at least it's much better than Luke's shit.

Warboss Nugglutz the Masta-Grabba is a Deathskull of notable kunnin' and brutality. While ever ready for a scrap, Nugglutz has an eye for conflicts that provide prime opportunities for lootin'. His unofficial war cry could be "Dey got a _______, I wantz it!"

He launched his career by shadowing an Imperial Guard column, nicking vehicles and gear through raids and skirmishes. On a noteworthy occasion his nobz ripped the treads from a functional Chimera, hoisted it on their shoulders and carried it away, crew still inside. A battle that results in hundreds of dead boyz and a freshly killed Leman Russ is always a good day.

Often accompanying the Warboss is a flash Weirdboy known as Lefty Zoggums, so named for his missing left arm, which exploded in an inconvenient burst of WAAAGH feedback. Lefty drapes his gnarled stump with a rather flamboyant cloak, seemingly torn from one of them cogboy gits.

Meks of all sorts flock to a Deathskull horde, and one of the best is Big Mek Rompa-Stompa. He is responsible for many of Boss Nugglutz's favorite waggons, anf even the creation of a hulking Stompa, Mista Deff Masha. But Rompa-Stompa's most fervent dream has not yet been realized. His own propa ride, orky-matic and dakka-matic, shiny and chrome. He already knows its name, whispering it as he welds dakka to another trukk. "Prinzess..."

I'm trying to peg all the references, and I think I got most of them, but there are a few that still elude me.

Want to know my secret? I just described a completely standard Scarab Occult Sorcerer. Except for maybe the "do business with anyone" part. Consider that the condensed version.

That board looks great aside from that park. That grassy hill really just drags the rest of it down...

Also, consider painting that crater to match the pavement.

Also, who's Luke?

Guy at my local store , with what may legitimately be the worst lore for his guys that has ever been conceived. At the very least it's the worst I have ever heard.

Do tell

Because I like shenanigans. This way I can make up a story for every game I play, even against other Space Marines.

Right, so it's one of the lost legions. Thing is they weren't lost, they weren't slain, and they certainly weren't absorbed into the Ultramarines. No they were detached with a special mission.

You see the Emperor specifically made this legion of marines to be the greatest tacticians, the most loyal of soldiers, and the fiercest of fighters, because he had for them a mission none but the best of the best could complete. He charged this legion to protect and raise his only true-born son and heir.

Because the Emperor feared his ability to protect his son and heir should he be known to the universe, and because he wanted a contingency plan in the event of the failure of the crusade and his Imperium, he ordered them to take the kid and fuck off to the edge of the galaxy and hide until such a time as he called for them or the kid was ready to claim his place as heir.

They went off, and then after they were gone things went to shit. They lamented that they were not at Terra, for if they had been surely the Emperor would never have fallen, because Horus would never have been able to get past them to fight him. They watched as the Imperium changed, horrified as they moved away from the Emperors vision.

Untrusting of Guiliman, and then later the high lords they remained hidden, waiting for the immortal son of the emperor to grow powerful and wise enough to return and rebuild the Imperium as it should have been.

Because they are out there on the fringe and after the Empror was put on the Throne their supplies stopped coming they hit some hard times, but that was alright. These were resourceful men, and truly accomplished diplomats. They convinced an Eldar craft-world and an Enclave of the Tau to join their cause and support them. After all as good and rational people they were able to find common ground with the aliens and convince them of the righteousness of their cause.

1/2

Now that the Trueborn son of the Emperor is ready they have launched a crusade with their Tau and Eldar allies and blood brothers to reclaim the throne in the name of science and rationality. And with their superior technology and military tactics they will do so.

Tl;dr special snowflakes who do everything right and are super important and everyone loves them.

All he does is bitch about how the rules don't allow him to accurately represent his army on the table top, because he should be able to ally in whatever he wants without any penalties and the chapter tactics aren't good enough or reflective of the super intelligent and reasonable military doctrine his guys use.

Oddly enough, he's painted them as Ultramarines. Not sure why.

The planet they hail from has ancient tzeentchian temples. The reincarnation thing plays into the tzeentch cult's corruption. Theyre also getting desperate to keep their artifical birthing machines running, so the mechanicus is sliiping more into chaos than they already were.

>but it just seems really slapped together and mishmashed.
Mate, 'slapped together and mishmashed' is "Basic Ork converting 101"

I mean, I literally built my boyz a new wartrukk in a cave with a box of scraps!

Posted this on 40kg last night, but here you go.

The Emperors Purity: Built their fortress on a pleasure world, home to great artists, decadent nobles, fine foods and powerful drinks, etc. due to some prophesy about a system devastating incursion that would start on that planet. The astartes of the chapter started to interact with the nobility, which over centuries led them to develop a taste for the arts, fine food, good wine, etc. The astartes are quick to sing their own praises and are seen as prideful and haughty pricks by pretty much everyone who isn't themselves.

This led to many rituals and traditions being based around artwork. When an astartes proves himself a great warrior, he is given the right to ask an artist to design a modification of that astartes choosing, whether it be a unique pauldron, ornate helmet, sick trims etc. They regularly compete for pieces of artwork and the more veteran a warrior gets the more elaborate and gaudy his armour becomes.

The astartes of the chapter are all fantastic duelists due to an incredibly important tournament to the chapter. In this tournament, an astartes will go through a series of 1v1 duels with his brothers. These duels are fought live, in front of the planets nobility and is broadcast across the planet. A number of nobles then rate each astartes based on their 'swordsmanship' which leads to fantastical and extravagant displays, as the astartes attempt to impress the regular humans who have never seen a real fight in their lives. This is meant to prove martial prowess as well as find those who are favored by the people. This has led to a really innefficent style of fighting, that only works because they themselves are superhuman machines of death. The astartes are quick to sing their own praises and are seen as prideful and haughty pricks by pretty much everyone who isn't themselves.

my plan is to have them fall to chaos whenever GW ends up releases new slaanesh stuff.

This is just a nitpick on my part, but you used the phrase "The astartes are quick to sing their own praises and are seen as prideful and haughty pricks by pretty much everyone who isn't themselves" twice in your summary.

Otherwise a chapter full of haughty marines who are only that way because their fortress is based on a pleasure world full of decadent nobles and artists sounds pretty cool. Really brings out the "environment/nuture" angle of that whole 'nature vs nuture" thing into play.

This Freeboota git approves.

It's not much, but I havy more fluff for my Death Guard written down here

I am open for idea in order to expand it, and constructive critizism in order to further improve my abilities to write

>Oddly enough, he's painted them as Ultramarines. Not sure why

Matt Ward trying to play with real people.

Silver Gauntlets chapter. Ultima founding. When Guilliman said that he was giving the primaris their own chapters, everyone was horrified. The thought of Chapter Masters only decades old is ridiculous. Imperial Fist, Master of the Forge, Marcus Vega saw the opportunity and advised his chapter master on a course of action. The Imperial Fists politely offered their senior officers to lead the new Dorn chapters. Guilliman agreed. Vega was the first to volunteer.

Homeworld - A civilized planet with moderate industry, near the rift.
Headquarters - Mountain fortress, still under construction.
Speciality - Building fortresses and siege warfare. Secretly capturing and reverse engineering xeno technology.

>Secretly capturing and reverse engineering xeno technology
any particular reason for this?

I've provided some minor spelling and grammatical corrections in the chat for the google doc. There's some more things that could use rephrasing, but those are the ones I saw just at a cursory glance.

As for expanding the fluff...

Has the Noxious Conclave been involved in the Fate of Konor Campaign? What were some of their exploits before the Great Rift appeared?

Imperium tech is in a dark age. It's embarrassing that even the Tau have surpassed us. The mechanicus is holding us back. Guilliman and Cawl have given the Imperium a much needed kick in the ass, and Chapter Master Vega follows in their footsteps.

I love the idea of huge fortresses with secret passageways leading to underground forges. The techmarine scientists know that if the Inquisition catches them red handed with alien technology, then the chapter will disavow them.

Thanks for pointing those errors out, English isn't my first language.
And I haven't been able to partake in the fate of Konor campaign yet, I just don't have the time.
