We will return

I hope I posted this on the right place...

I used to toy with WHFB when I was younger, but recently I saw the Disciples of Tzeentch and I thought they were absolutely bitchin' and had to get back into the game.

Beyond the resources given could anybody give me some pointers on getting started specifically with the Disciples? I was hoping to run a horde/summoning army with emphasis on Pink, Blue and Brimstone horrors before incorporating other units.

Also, are there max unit sizes? As I'm hoping in the long run to base my unit size and army structure somewhat around the Roman Army. I know that could go into thousands and thousands and thousands of models, but I wouldn't mind bigger than life battles.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for asking.

Late reply to this guy, but I went to the GW shop in Winter Park once. Its just a long drive there through 408/I-4 traffic, and then having to get out of that shopping center. Wasn't sure what days they would be playing that they would accept a newbie coming up to just play a small game. When I went, it seemed like it was all tourney or pre-arranged campaign stuff

Let's get the bad out of the way first: Summoning is shit.
Beyond that you can't really go wrong with Disciples, they have a excellent selection of units and heroes.
Their general playstyle favors mid- to short-ranged shooting supported by decent melee and powerful casting.
Be sure to grab the Disciples of Tzeentch battletome and the General'S Handbook 2017 from the OP; also, the warscroll builder (also in the OP) helps with assembling your force.

What's wrong with summoning?

GdaƄsk is a beautiful city overall, a bit confusing, just shame that we don't have any local hobby store and nearest is in Gdynia, otherwise I could play age of sigmar more often, now just have to limit myself to playing with brothers and sometimes going to Gdynia

Start Collecting! Tzeentch Daemons is great value for money and you could create an okay 2k army using just those boxes. You've already said you want Pink Horrors, so if chariots, flamers and screamers are appealing to you I'd definitely get at least one.

The next obvious choice is the blue/brimstone horror box. Beyond that you have to ask yourself if you want to favour mortal or daemon units. Your puchases will depend heavily on that.

Thank you for the advice friend!

I actually had planned on getting the Start Collecting! Tzeentch Daemons and buying a box of Blue Horrors & Brimstone Horrors, nice to see great minds think alike, heh.
I also have friends who might get into the game with me, and we were all going to go with a particular chaos god initially so we could have some interchanging between WhFB/AoS and 40K. Is the Start Collecting! Daemons of Khorne, Daemons of Nurgle, and Daemons of Slaanesh also strong for starting out?

yeah, this seems to be a problem of many larger cities. ton of people that want to play, but no store play in, because the up keep of one costs too much and people only buy stuff second hand/online or recast.

What have you guys got planned for Armies on Parade?

Skipping it this year do to my current position in life, but next year it's a given. Still need to figure out what army i want to do as mentioned a couple of times already but if i don't see any interesting new armies by may/june next year i'll settle down on kharadron overlords army up in the clouds with some sky islands dotting the board.

Madman

Everything. You have to pay for the summoned unit, the arrival isn't guaranteed, possibly calls a randomnumber of models, makes you waste a spell and you still need to set-up far from the opponent.
The only decent use out of summoning is getting past allegiance restrictions, but that's only relevant for a miniscule number of forces.

Included it in the op and was tempted to call this the madman edition.

The SC boxes for daemons are all pretty decent. None of them are incredible, but they work well and provide a good introduction into their respective forces.

Like Spire of Dawn "returned" to OOP?

lol

Spire of Dawn isn't OOP

Never

Week's rumour engine

ELVES CONFIRMED

or something else, idunno.

Looks aelve or duardin to me

M8 that's how it dries. Its normal.
You have to layer all the raised areas and smooth it out with a regular layer paint again, leaving the shades in the recesses

Are plague monks decorative rats big enough for giant rats?

Stormcast mask detail.

Looks like a fancy death spear to me. Maybe something related to shadespire?

Fug, ok.
But my Auric Armor Gold won't arrive until next week.
Also, I was thinking about painting my Stormcast like this.
I've got lots of different tips for the white parts, should I go base with Ceramine White and highlight with White Scar or base with Astral Grey and highlight with a brighter grey? And no idea what to use to layer the white parts.

Flesh eater courts user here. My states about to be without power for like 2 weeks, so i figured this'd be a great time to catch up on AoS since i havent had time lately. Should i go for ghoul king and terrogeist seperate or ghoul king on terrogeist? Also what changes to unit costs happened since the handbook update?

Pic is what little i finished before I got busy

I want a virgin nagesh vs chad settra now

>mouldline on the foreground hammer
In to the trash it goes

...

Perfect, as always

You can check the changes yourself, since they updated the scrollbuilder.

But I'd say a ghoulking is worth it on the gheist, at least if you play 2k.

Could easily be stylized winged armor for the gryphhounds of stormcast

It is. Customer service told me it had been discontinued.

It isn't in America

As a proud Customer Support employee (not for GW tho), I have told customers a product is discontinued just because I couldn't find it on our page. That's how much insight CS gets on product availability on average.

Good job GW doesn't produce things in America then

white isn't EZ. You need lots of thin layers.
You lay down a grey first. DONT go straight white.
So something like layer 1 = Grey, 2 = pallid wytch flesh or a light grey, 3 = white

Which faction would be the best for the a e s t h e t i c painting?

Stormcast specific or in general?
Stormcast = Turd brown suits them.
In terms of general factions, Seraphon and Tzeentch are both awesome for cool colors

Tzeentch

Free people's can be pretty good for that

Also, imo, Seraphon

The detail of the saliva on his teeth is pretty cool but at the same time reminds me of people getting sloppy with the glue

>tfw FW will always have shit painters

Seriously, they need to let Duncan have a day to paint display models of their products that actually look nice and not ugly brown turds.

How does the Blades of Khorne faction fair right now?
Any good or trash?

Why does so much of their recent stuff look terrible, anyway? They were never 'Eavy Metal-tier with most things, but their painted models always looked good. Nowadays a lot of them have ridiculously strong contrasts everywhere and they just look plain wrong.

>how do the current Chaos posterboys fair right now?

Yeah I dunno, not like they're a big part of the box sets with a heap of heroes and units made for AoS.

Anecdotal, but I ordered Spire of Dawn 2 weeks ago and got it last week in the US.

They could be good or they could just be the punchbag for the SCE

Question: Alligance abilities can be taken in a path to glory game?

No

They're bloody good if you even glanced at their (free) statblocks. Tons of buffing, featuring a big bannerboi who was the inspiration/test model for the Primaris Ancient. Mortal Wounds everywhere, getting them from charging in an elite unit to even just making armour saves with one of the basic troop units. Even the Lord that comes in the cheap as chips starter set (which you can then sell/trade off the Sigmar half to recoup around 40% of the box value) has a chance to outright fucking KO anything that he's damaged in a given turn.

I remember some speculation a while ago about a new faction based on Bretonnia. Did anything ever come of that or is it still speculation?

Either way, how would YOU do Bretonnians in AoS?

>Either way, how would YOU do Bretonnians in AoS?
There is no place in such setiing for Bret-like faction

There would be if they all flew on gryphons and were basically holy knights templar

>There would be if they all flew on gryphons and were basically holy knights templar
Who needs another SCE?

care to elaborate?

Pic details Chaos Dwarfs in Age of Sigmar

...

The company's been assigning shitloads of people to make the Specialist Games. They only have 2 guys working on 30k, for instance.

Any way of painting skeletuns to make them interesting? Collecting deathrattle but I don't want to paint them into the boring red

"What'th wrong, Brotha? AM I NOT HANTHOME?!"

Was this ever identified as something that has been released yet?

Nope.

I can buy spire of dawn right now, in fact I'll buy two

...

>itt 'discontinued' means 'they won't sell what's left'

ask their facebook page

They'll need to tweak that if they ever make a faction out of them. "Furnace Kings" isn't nearly copywritable enough. Something more like "Infurnicial Reginarchs", perhaps? No, I don't think that's cringey enough.

it doesn't have the LAST CHANCE TO BUY icon which means they're still making more

Taco skelemans

What about the countries where it's been delisted entirely?

Memeing a part, I'd honestly like some news around elves.

I mean, they were an inportant part of the Old World, and theyr models have always been cool

A light-based and/or shadow based races of elves could be quite a cool

bump - I need ~10 for my moulder warband

That would be pretty hard to pull off, but I would honestly made a full-mounted cavalry army, but for the trebuchet and maybe the archers

And emphasize all the unique units, such as the pegasus knights, the grial-knights, etc

>But user, that would be way too similar to old Bretonnia, doomed to disappear

Then, for something completely new that would just preserve the aesthetic for Bretonnia I propose...

Goddamnit, I free guit didn't had the Griffons and semi-griffons already and the SCE the dragons this would be easy

First, what realm would they mainly live in?
I could see Azyr and Hysh
Azyr has the SCE so better nope

Hysh then
They could be super shiny honorable knights armed with light and

I can't fucking do this, that's just a lame copy of SCE

Fuck this I can't.
I'm sorry Bretonnia, I failed.

If free guild didn't*

I thought the rat tail was the fat skavin for the football game?

Post YFW GW brings back the old world with sigmarines and blood born as elite armies because they finally accept that nuking a 20+ years worth of lore and world building for sigmar an friends in space was a bad idea.

Shit posting aside, I actually think we are gonna see the old world either A) come back, or B) be run as a parallel universe to AoS

Anyone play skirmish? We're starting some games soon at 50 points starter warbands.

Any tips and tricks?

I do and...

Just have fun lol

Ok, now for real, we use Dwarfs (both Dispossessed and Kharadron) Orruk (Ironjawz, goblins etc) and Deathrattle, and imo the horde armies are usually in better shape than the elite ones

Also movility is extremely important

we're probably going to get both, inevitably

until then I"m using my mistweaver owo

Fuckin love it, my GF started playing AoS thanks to skirmish.
>Any tips and tricks?
If your friends don't have ~18 renown heroes then start the campaign with 30 renown per player. Bodies-count matters so even shitty models can be really useful if they cost 1 renown

I've used them like that when I was a poor young lad. They do the job but I still find them too small.

I had a quick look through the Skaven BB miniatures and it doesn't look like the tail matches any of them.

I'd like them to bring back the Old World because if nothing else they'd be forced to make rules for mixed-clan Skaven armies again.

as far as I can tell that's only ireland and it's probably just a website fuckup, like when some fat retard accidentally set the bloodbowl troll to discontinued

The old world is literally the big giant globe that Azyr surrounds

The empire compendium renamed an old unit as Knights of Order.

This might imply they have something planned for an unified army of knights.

>Any tips and tricks?
Play SCE

I'm not sure I agree with you about them bringing back WHFB and folding in AoS armies into it, but I do think we'll see it come back in one form or another, even if its some one off board game or something.
