Are there any tabletop games that allow you to play a heteromorphic race, rather than limiting you to humans and demi-humans, without having to homebrew it? I'm exhausted with the usual, boring options.
What monsters have you played, and how did you stat them, if you had to brew it yourself?
Samuel Young
I murdered a woman, bottled her soul, and took her daughter as a slave. I cut the girl open and took two ribs, with which she would would grip her steel. I'd use the mother to possess other children. Mine, they would commit murder and perform as prostitutes beside the daughter. When I grew bored of those trinkets, I'd murder them, slowly, over days, and make the mother share their pain. Each I dined together with her daughter and my pigs. From each I took a tooth I'd carved the image their faces and their names, a gift of pearls to our daughter.

>do games let you
Games are just rules, you can homebrew anything for any system at any time.
I think you may be lost in the trappings of conventional fantasy where Humans are generic peasant race and all the interesting bits come from being a four thousand year old mega-elf that El-Iluvitar set down upon the firmament before the first dawn. If you seriously want to play a monster race then I suggest you find a monster that interests you and re-interpret its +20 Mega Cock Girth stat bonuses into utility or racial features, and possibly have some reasonable disadvantages.
Tyler Edwards
Megaversal, particularly the Rifts setting, has a staggering amount of non-human options, and even non-humanoid. Hell, there's even a major genocidal race out there with a major hate-on for anything bipedal with two arms.

This cover is a particular favorite, you could play anything in this picture. Though I'll admit some of the vegetation is a stretch, but a vegetation gestalt hero can cover a multitude of plantliness.

What even was that guy? My friends and I started an inside joke that he just flew around watching people and shot at gods.

Splugorth Slaver. Aquatic race that has served as a minon race to the Splugorth alien intelligences for so long that they've lost any other cultural identity. Those that serve as typical slavers are permanently bound to their equally iconic slaver barge, which sustains them and allows them to travel the surface to serve their masters. Featuring powerful rune magic enhancements and attachments, the Splugorth Slaver and Barge form the backbone of most slaving excursions, to the point that many lay folk believe them to be the actual Splugorth. They are often accompanied by other minon and slave races in service to the Splugorth. Splynncryth of Atlantis often favors pairing the heavy barge with a group of agile Altaran warriors.
Also know as the blind warrior women, they are an bioengineered asexual warrior race whose original masters are lost to time that have long been subjugated by the Slugorth, some of whom hope to see a rise to minion race, while some stull habor a wish for rebellion.

One off the top of my head, one extreme example that that I know of is Low Life.
Be warned, if unfamiliar with the setting, it's... different. You might describe it as _very_ post apocalyptic.(Which apocalypse? Take your pick. The history of Low Life involves nukular war, Egglantis rising and falling and rising and falling again, portals opening and horcs and smelves coming through, etc etc...)
Among other things, you can play a sentient twinkie (or similar snack cake). Or you can play a "pile", or various other things.
Nathan Brown
>Final room >Evil bbeg is all cocky as Paladin and Demi-god enter with barely any soldiers left >"Ready to get fucked up kids? I'm the super bad super powerful bad guy" speech >Meanwhile Benjamin hasn't come through yet >Soldiers look to Xazel for help >"BBEG you make a fair point, if you weren't so tacky I'd join you." >Lots a' morale there huh? >Paladin pledges to kill bbeg >Benjamin meanwhile has descaled the dragon, detoothed, and declawed and absorbed all said pieces including wings. >Walks through the door >Weighs five tons >Stands 12' something >Exhaling absinthe mist >"Who are you!?" bbeg cries >"Ben... Dover..." Flies at him in a flury of blows fucking half healths him >BBEG is so scared he runs away and the dungeon is over >Demi-god didn't fire a single shot >Paladin is crestfallen >"Do not worry human, you will catch him" >"You're a disgrace you mongrel" Xazel says to hero >Ben has had enough >grabs him from behind >"Mongrel! UNHAND ME!" >You can't escape this you piece of shit >Push Dragon teeth into his back >All of them >Spitting up blood, dying >Fucking Hercules hugs the demi-god crushing his body >Absorbs the teeth back >"That was for my friend, Dragon's Name" >Everyone is in shock >Real Life Demi-god player is furious >I feel no remorse >Ben goes off to find his Dwarven artifact
>This whole time >The artifact was a big piston dong >So he could cuck his creator
>That is the legend of Ben Dover

Currently playing a Warforged surrounded by Lion-men, Bird-men, and Lizard-men. At least the Tiefling that's joining the party will be relatively normal. All of this in 5e. Just use races other people have made that seem relatively balanced to you/your GM.
John Ross
not sure if that counts, but i played an awakened house cat (rogue) in pf and a wizard resurrected in her own familiar in 3.5, that was fun
fun stuff
Jack Jones
One of my more favorite characters. High fantasy is bonkers. Sounds like you had a time too. A Cat??
Nathan Reed
yeah, a big awakened housecat (think Maine Coon, because fuck being tiny size) who ran away from a noble house and ended up on adventures with the other PCs it was really fun (even if i don't have any epic greentexts to write), and failing intimidation rolls was pretty much pic related

2e Planescape did have a lot of monsterous options. Including one that let you play a rogue modron
Jack Rogers
10/10 would hunt down and deliver justice.
Ayden Torres
Depends on how you define "Monster". I played a lizardfolk but he died after two sessions (as well as the rest of the party aside from our traumatized cleric). The character I've played the longest was a ghoul for most of the time (barring a magical body swap and the time at the end when he died and needed true resurrection which made him human again). That was a fun character to play.
