Well that's a nice looking beach.
Cudos to the artist.

I can't wait for Jace to start humping Vraska's leg.

This whole block is compelling me to draw romance novel covers featuring swooning jace and vraska. Or perhaps just editing their faces over them. Either way.

>muffled Ocean Man in the distance

I found it kind of odd how quickly she went from threatening to kill him again to sympathy. It's odd based on how personal their last encounter was.

Is Vraska just Yandere?

I want Vraska to obtain the the power of the Immortal Sun and immediately betray Bolas.

I think it's less sympathy and more shock. Prior to this point, she'd always dealt with Jace as a prepared, relatively in control opponent who kind of outclassed her. It's the equivalent of a mid-tier supervillain walking down the street and seeing Superman sitting barely conscious in an alley, looking like he hasn't eaten in a week.

And what was their beef anyway? Was it all connected to ravnica? And if so does this mean that since they're on a different plane that they can't escape and Jace lost his memory that they'll work together?

I have to say I really like this article. I have a feeling that it's going to be enjoyable aaaallll the way through. Hopefully.

Meh, I don't like when they wipe their memories but they still retain them deep in their brains, like Tezzeret or Jace. At some point he'll remember everything and Bolas crushing his mind will be for nothing.

What swear did he say anons?

Huh, apparently her goal the first time was actually just to recruit him. She just did so in the incredibly Black assassin method of mass murder and threats of mass murder.

I wonder if she's about to lie and tell Jace that he's her cabin boy or something.

Yeah, Vraska's deal was that she wanted to end the guilds, because of the fact that all of them are kind of amoral assholes, and also she got a face full of police brutality. She just managed to make her recruitment pitch the least diplomatic thing ever, so Jace outed her plans to everyone and ruined her whole setup.

In Tezz's case, it was Jace deliberately erasing every single memory he ever had, including the ones that let him know how to do things like breathe. Bolas had to build him back from basically scratch. This time it's more just "shrug, undirected mind flay" from a disappointed Bolas, so its not quite as comprehensive.

With transform mechanic returning again they missed the opportunity for a cloak boy Jace to transform into a cabin boy Jace.

Liliana coming to save Jace only to find him completely enamored with Vraska with no memory of her would be neat.

I know we're just supposed to not think about it, but has anyone considered how ridiculous this is?

There are infinite planes in the multiverse, right? What are the chances that two people randomly planeswalking at different times, from different points, would ever randomly meet one another?

The same chances that everyone's initial Planeswalk always brings them somewhere perfect rather than dropping them in the middle of the ocean or in a volcano. Like how Chandra sparked and got to go to a pyromancer monetary, Lili got to go to Innistrad and master zombies, Gideon got to go to a place with lots of angels and knights, etc.

Generally when you planeswalk randomly, it seems like sparks themselves guide you towards where you 'need' to be almost.

In short, plot convienience

>implying Bolas did not kick Jace to Ixalan to meet with Vraska, whom he gave her compass
all according to Keikaku

Realistically, when you spark you'd have more chances stranding yourself in the blind eternities than actually hitting a plane, let alone a safe, nonhostile part of the plane.

Eh, he doesn't spend that long as cloak Jace in the set. If anything, I'd expect him to turn from Cabin boy Jace into his old self once he gets his memories back. That might be spoiling too much story in the first set though. I'm kind of glad transform is more limited here.

I'm starting to really like the idea of Vraska getting close to Jace. Can't be any less healthy than his relationship with Liliana, and at least Vraska has Green to help mellow her out.

Maybe that's how the eldrazi titans came to be.

My guess is "Poops."

In that case it would be interesting for them to team up

From a reply to this story on MTG's twitter

We need more.

I'm just hoping for a gratuitous amount of porn fics of Jace being Vraska's little cabin boy bitch

>magic
>having good lewds

Pick one

Well then, guess we have to make it happen.

So we know that Ixalan is a prison plane for planeswalkers. We also know that all of the planeswalkers (including Bolas) are looking for the Immortal Sun. This makes it pretty clear that the immortal sun will let them leave Ixalan. What if it is a spark, or a spark activator/implanter?

If this is the case, then this card also heavily implies we'll see a merfolk planeswalker next set

>implying wizards will print non-human planeswalkers
Apart from Ugin and Nicol Bolas, name a single non-human species that has more than one planeswalker. Kiora is all you're getting fishfag.

Do we know why Ixalan is a prison plane? Maybe Urza used it as a workshop plane a long time ago and made it so no one but him could Planeswalk there and then leave with his secrets, which could be The Immortal Sun.

I'm just spit balling here because Bolas has the Planar Portal and his Eternals, but now he needs some other all powerful item form another plane.

>Freyalise and Nissa
,':^)

Well I'd imagine the sun is what's keeping it locked, but what the hell else does it do?

What is Nicol's endgame?

Ajani, Tibalt, Sorin, Freyalise, Daretti, Ashiok, Dovan, Karn, Nahiri, Tamiyo, Vraska and Xenagos.

I like the thought that it's the reason Bolas sent Vraska instead, because he's not sure if he could Planeswalk away either.

Tamiyo
Ajani
Vraska
Nicol Bolas

Angarath is probably minoptaur.

Reread what I said user.
Well shit you got me, I'm going to say "Elves aren't people", any response?

Maybe The Immortal Sun is just some magic item that binds Planeswalkers to planes like everyone on Ixalan. If he figures out how to weaponize it like the bridge, he could trap all other Planeswalkers on their respective planes, while him and his turbo mummies murdered around the multiverse as the only actual Planeswalker.

>Freyalise
They said 'nonhuman'
Just because she's part elf doesn't negate the fact that she's also part human

Fuccbois aren't human.

The condition wasnt that the walker isnt human at all, the condition was that they have matching nonhuman species

In the Ixalan podcast, they mention that Vraska has grown a bit because there's now someone who believes in her, whatever that means. Is that person going to be Jace?

Does Bolas even have an endgame? At this point he might be in it for the trolling.

Is Jace's type supposed to be "powerful, black aligned, and will have no problems killing you if it conveniences them"? Because for all the talk about how he's not supposed to be a self-insert character I can self-insert that pretty well.

I assumed it was the Golgari character from her story from before Amhonket.

I think they implied it was someone on ixalan. Or maybe it's just Bolas

>Jace goes on vacation to Cancun

Why is Magic so lacking in the lewd department? Its really popular and it's been around forever.

>Jace: "I believe in you captain."
>Vraska's glowing green blush intensifies.

I demand a land card called "Useless Island"

Better if legendary

No one knows. Professional artists are saying "I better do more rule 34 of mtg!" But it hasn't caught on just yet.

Whatever the case is, the only solution is to just request it more.

Well we cant have writesmuttery without art can we?

The porn artists are typically the artists of the cards. Oops.

"HOW PROGRESSIVE A REVERSAL OF TROPES" - MaRo

Useless Island
Land
T: Useless Island becomes the basic land type of your choice and gains this ability. If you control a Jace, untap Useless Island.

Well done.

That was good, but I can't help but picture this during.

>Meanwhile with Vraska's crew...
>"Ey, what you think that captain's been doing with that castaway we found?"
>"Judging by the noise, I'd say everything."

She became best friends with the golgari bugman.

...

Vraska best girl. Fuck Liliana and her old lady cooch.

Glad you liked it. I figures the crew would be scratching their heads at all this, or at least placing bets on how long it would be before she walks out with a stone statue of him.

>Jace gets a yandere medusa waifu
>They team up to hinder Bolas' plan
>Eventually encounter him with Liliana as an unwilling underling
>Catfight ensues
>Jace doesnt even know why they fighting over him

Jace once again proves to be the best waifu.

Story theme: youtube.com/watch?v=Y0RB_AEHHso

She's not even that yandere, she just has no concept of interacting with people that doesn't involve threats or blackmail, because she's been on Ravnica so long. She really just needs a big hug.

>inb4 Vraska sacrifices herself to save Jace

I wonder if this is where Garruk is hiding.

I like the idea of a romance blossoming where neither party is a toxic influence on the other

She certainly feels like a more sympathetic Black character than Lili, whose suffering all comes from her own deals with demons.

I wanna hug Vraska and boop her snake hair

It's sweet honestly. I hope it happens.

Who is the Gorgon next to Ashiok?

Will they fuck up her new card?

Hythonia the Cruel, from Theros.

I think that's either supposed to be Hythonia.

I honestly don't know if they ever bring Garruk back. His goal is killing Walkers and we can't have that. Also he gives off a white, rapey, serial killer vibe full of toxic masculinity.

What if this plane is Garruk's perfect hunting ground.

Planeswalkers come in and never come out.

I want the return of Garruk to be a set that focuses on both a walker that's never met him before, and in a setting in which he ends up being kind of a supporting character, the interactions with the other walker helping to help reassert his humanity. Like him running into Tamiyo and going on comfy ruin-hunting adventures, while he goes out and punches baloths, or Kiora, where they get in giant shitfits over who gets to keep/kill the krakens.

Jace better be the one swooning though, Vraska just doesn't seem like the type to swoon for someone.

simple

the jacetice league convince him that Bolas is the ultimate prey

it's like throwing a giant wrench into a meticulously crafted castle of cards

I want Garruk to meet Kaya and Samut

Bolas convinces Garruk that Ugin is better prey- why kill a dragon when you can kill a dragon thats managed to come back from the dead

That would neat, but I think Garruk is a bit far gone to be redeemed, as he's embraced what he's become.

He would have been a perfect Gatewatch antagonist. Not some massive sweeping multiplaner threat, but still a danger since he targets walkers. A small group of the watch getting hunted and outsmarted by one predator.

Throw Liliana in there to get more proper development as she has to deal with the mistrust of the watch since it's her fault that Garruk became this way, and observe as she eventually comes to want to help him since it all ties to the Veil.

Ugin would convince Garruk to kill Bolas because Bolas was the one who had killed him in the first place.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

HANDHOLDING

Well whatever next weeks story is actually about, its not going to be as good as this

Bolas could pretty much use him as an unknowing lackey, pointing him to threats to be taken care of.

This made me audibly lol good job

Thanks! The interaction did flow kind of naturally, since Vraska struck me as someone who would actually be sympathetic towards those weaker due to her guild and past, just not showing it. Meanwhile, have Jace lose his memory makes it possible to start over convincing him fresh. It would no doubt lead to drama once he gets his memory back, but thats just more fun.

Of course, realistically he's just gonna be stuck on their crew for 5 minutes until he meets a Merfolk and goes off to be a big nerd and get his memories back.

Vraska has a strong sense of...not justice, exactly, but something akin to it. People should pay what they owe and deserve to suffer consequences. Jace being humbled as he is means that he no longer pings her radar as being undeserving of his station.

Jace's recent memories included interacting with Bolas, and a conversation with Ral about how Vraska was planeswalking to somewhere that didn't exist. Between those two things, it's not entirely unreasonable for him to have unconsciously latched onto some kind of trail left by Vraska holding Bolas's compass.

I guess it's a sort of Green/Black eye for an eye sort of deal? I think it suits her well. I also think it's the kind of Black Jace could actually get behind

>Black Jace
You mean Jaequan

Dimir jace could cool

Jace is canon U/W or Esper

Yeah, Jace currently leans more White with his present iterations, although with the current set and how often he gets amnesia, I could see him being Simic as well now.

Either way, the idea of him and Vraska teaming up is a fun one.

>4C atraxa jace when

Jace likes to manipulate/change mana too much to be green.

>mindwiped Jace follows Vraska because she can tell him about his past
>Vraska is looking for something on the plane under Nicol Bolas' instruction
>at the end of the block they work together to find it and Vraska encourages Jace to follow her as she planeswalks away
>they appear before Bolas with the prize, who quickly catches on
>Nicol Bolas offers to 'restore' Jace's memories for his help
>Jace now remembers being a secret spy of Bolas's inside the gatewatch as a supplanting over his real memories
>Bolas' other servants buy it because he's Bolas
Dimir Jace.

Gideon: Jace, you can't stop me. I need to-
Jace: It's time to die Jura
Gideon: I need to save Martha
Jace: ?!
