There are some pretty lofty goals set within that whitepaper and to think that an anonymous team with little to no track record can beat every other cryptocurrency at their own game is frankly ludicrous in my opinion.

I think they will be able to do it. As they have said most of the technologies are already proven and work, rather than being concepts, they just need to be implemented. So I don't think their hardfork is too far away. What they are lacking is good pr. But I think they just signed a deal with some good pr company.
