Transforming the MK3 Space Marine heavy bolter into a blight launcher. Just needs a little green stuff to pull it together.

Just mix the plastic Mk. IV kit with the CSM kit. Bam, you've achieved the aesthetic that all this cover art has.

Hell, you don't even have to mix the armour for some Legions. The new CSM codex has one of the (current) Iron Warriors in plain Mk. III plate.

Made all my guys mk 4 with the occasional spattering of other bits
Even gave one guy a deathwatch shoulder pad to bring up the question if he infiltrated them, stole the armour, or legitimately was a black shield for a while

The reason they're good is because they can mount some damn good weapons (2 hot-shot volleyguns, 1 gatling) on an insanely cheap platform. You can spam them if you want or use a reasonable number and use the leftover points to field something else.

Whenever a model with the death throes rule dies, except in the morale phase, instead of rolling for death throes, keep the model in play until the end of the phase. At the end of the phase, all models kept in play with this rule can either make a full shooting attack as if it were the shooting phase, or pile in and fight as if it was the fight phase. There's a difference between encouraging one build and offering literally nothing for any other build. They specifically avoid doing the latter with sub-faction rules in 8th. That's why shit like the bonuses to Flamers for Salamanders and bonuses to Bikers for White Scars were moved to Stratagems, while the actual Chapter Tactics became something all appropriate units could benefit from in some way.

In fluff. In practice, all traits so far benefit every legible unit. That's why Sallies don't get a flamer buff and IF don't get a Bolter buff.

Actually chaos legion traits only benefit infantry and helbrutes. Which means units are left out.

Chaos and SM both do this, but that's not the point. That's the actual rules for all Legion Traits/Chapter Tactics, not the trait/tactic itself. Note that none of the traits/tactics reference a particular ability the way yours does with Death Throes. They have a general bonus that affects all units of certain types, and those unit groups are the same across all sub-factions. So you won't have one Hive Fleet that only benefits Infantry and another that only benefits Monsters. Sub-factions don't work that way. Just pay attention.

All this is doing is changing the eligible units. It's already been demonstrated that it is fine for a legion trait to not being every unit in an army.

Frankly it would be boring as fuck if every faction bonus had the same selections of units that it could benefit.
