Infinity General: Laudatur Erunt Vermis -edition

Infinity is a 28mm scale futuristic skirmish game by Corvus Belli where he's not the doctor (and engineer) we deserve, but who we need.

Topic of the day:

Medkits: Hot or not? Should FO be chosen every time before Paramedic option?

Ha ha, boobs for eyes.

I shoot a flash pulse far more often than I shoot a medikit. People who heal tend to be dedicated healers (with a Servant Bot).

Depends heavily on the list and mission. FO is usually the better choice, but if you run a HI heavy list, a medkit can be the difference you need.

List dependent. If you're a big tanky swoleguys sort of player, Paramedics can be a huge fuck you to your opponent in the right circumstances.

Forward Observers are more useful the less direct you intend on being.

Are the RPG .pdfs the most up-to-date versions? Could a kind user please check?

But FOs are pretty much only useful as flash pulsing specialists?

I'm pretty new to the hobby and recently picked up the red veil kit. I'm p into haqqislam and the idea of a light infantry heavy army but I don't see models for some of the stuff. Do I just have to proxy everything or am I missing something here? What do people use for daylami? Also, should I definitely not be using daylami?

Daylamis come in both brand new and the older Hassasin Bahram starter set. They're cheap filler, nothing more, nothing less. Nothing to build your list on, as they're irregular and thus don't provide order to their group.

Generally speaking proxies are fairly well tolerated, but that ofc varies per local meta. If the profile has no model, you should be able to proxy it with something sensible.

Panzerfaust profiles are probably the most interesting ones for Daylami.

Putting stuff in the Targeted state can be useful too. Especially if you're doing a lot of speculative fire.

Marauder core link: pure madness?

General rules (or rules of thumb) for proxying is:

Use something of the same silhouette

If it the model for a specific profile exists, try to use it.

If you need a FO/Paramedic/Hacker but don't have one, use the regular rifle version and note the specialist status to your opponent.

For weapons specifics, try to use a model from the same unit.

Close combat posed models (likely without visible guns) can be used for any weapon you want.

If the model and unit doesn't exist (or like in the case of Halqa are out of print or otherwise hard to get) use something of the same silhouette (hopefully painted in a similar scheme to the rest of your guys).

Examples of sensible proxies:

Ghulam Rifle+LSG as a Doctor or FO

Khawarij Rifle+LSG profile for Khawarij Spitfire (spitfire doesn't have a model).

Beyond Red Veil's Hassassin Fiday (no visible gun) for any of its gun loadouts.

A USAriadna Grunt for a Halqa.

Naffatun for Djanbazan

Examples of Unsensible proxies:

Servant Bot for Tarik Mansuri

An unpainted Ghulam next to another unpainted Ghulam of the same time, both of which are profiles like an HMG and Hacker, except you switch between the two of them when a certain opponent model comes into view.

Daylami will be getting new sculpts delivered soon (if not already). They already have some in starters. Having like three of them being Panzerfaust profiles are pretty fun (neat for surprising your opponents through inconvenient infiltration).

>If you need a FO/Paramedic/Hacker but don't have one
How are these roles represented on their models? Medic bag, hacking visor and ???

I don't think a dedicated Forward Observer Model exists, but if it does (if Karakuri and other remotes are any point of reference) it'd be little antennas and lasers.

FO status is like 100% intended for proxies and declaring it with your opponent.

Some models are 100% intended to cover multiple profiles, like Shikami, Hassassin Ayyar (with the Viral Pistols), and such.

Seriously, there's like a million boobs on your face wtf

The literal, official FO model for the Maverick has absolutely nothing to show for its FO.

How's the quality on the Shaolin Monks box? Do they look good enough in scale next to the Red Veil minis?

>Daylami will be getting new sculpts delivered soon (if not already).

And it will end up as Ghulams in the end. Having more than 2 irregulars are unhealthy in my oppinion.

Medkits kill your dudes because nobody has the PH to make those odds of wasting orders getting near the guy and rolling fucking PH-3 to maybe get them back up worth it, hell, even this thread's titular Dr. Worm has killed more dudes and wrecked more of my TAGs than he has fixed to the point I see medics a complete and utter liability outside of maybe Haqqislam or if we're running spec-ops, and even then you better clench your ass and prepare your command tokens. I honestly only ever take medics/engies if I'm running something big and expensive that absolutely needs to live.

Forward Observers on the other hand blast your fucking enemies with Flash Pulse that can disable even a rampaging Dogface with Total Immunity completely dead in it's tracks all for the low cost of one point AND they shoot with WIP which is almost universally always better than BS for the troops you take FO on, making every single shitty ass cheerleader a pretty considerable ARO hurdle that can toss a wrench into an opponent's Rambo strat. Being able to push buttons and FO, then grenade something out of LoS with not just zero penalties, but a bonus to accuracy is also pretty dope.

Not bad. They hold up pretty well IMO. Not much shorter than the male Zhanshi (even without a boost in height by basing) but of course dwarfed by the HI.

what kind of basing should I do with CA? Muted dry earthtones seem like they would contrast nicely but might look boring

Nah, I run it all the time. Putting a whole fireteam 4" up is great. I like it in Decapitation when they get to deploy 20" in. Very little your opponent can do to get away from a fireteam deployed that far up.

>Looking at Acquisition scenario
>ITS manual list deployment areas being 16 inches deep
>Diagram labels them being 12 inches

So what is it? How dumb am I?

>Deploy in corners mission
>Can deploy your HVT on your board edge between your two zones

When they're cheaper than 10 points or something you're going to put orders into anyway, you can get away with quite a few of them.

Did they say there's going to be a standard release version of the USARF intel model? I swear I had heard that rumor and I dearly hope it's true, the gencon one has a horrid pose

yeah and he comes with a shotgun and a rifle arm.

I love it

That shotgun pose is pure "delet this"

I got some models in the mail today.

I am very excited about them.

I did mine in grey concrete with red weeds (dyed reindeer moss) growing over it.

Do we know if there's a sniper rifle arm swap?

They probably woulda showed it.

2 models at the last presentation had arm swaps. The Intel Grunt and the Taskmaster HRL/Red Fury

Bummer. Know any way to get my hands on a USAriadna sniper rifle without hands stuck to it?

I would bet money that the Intel spec ops mini will come with a weapon sprue with snipe rifle.

...

Is that sized right?

Since that's an older spec ops model it may be big or small for other models. Here is an opened blister though.

Got the Jeweler's saw I just bought and did my first full on conversion for a metal model. 7 years into this hobby you'd think it'd come up sooner. Guilang Combi Rifle. Better than I was expecting half way through, but not as good as I might have hoped.

Would you deem it presentable?I'm a roughly B-level painter planning on painting the rifle black (or a very dark grey). Any tips while the green stuff is still drying?

It should be ok, looking at it. A lot of the older minis had oversized guns.

Need more snipers for a spammy grunt fireteam with 3 sniper rifles.

The conversion is good. The gun has a chunk taken out of it but it still looks natural.
My only real complaint is that you sullied a new model with a giant old scale gun.

The Gencon exclusive one could be any grunt since its pistol+knife haha

>sullied a new model with a giant old scale gun.
That was indeed a concern of mine, but just simply trimming the barrel of the sniper just wasn't looking good enough, and I had a spare Yu Jing combi rifle from IDK where so I figured I'd give it a shot. The rifle indeed looks big, but it's actually not all that much longer than the Zhanying's Breaker Rifle. And it's not like my army is a stranger to oversized guns.

Thanks for the assurance.

I have that one, want to put a sniper rifle on its back.

Woah, Dr. Worm has WP 14. I cannot believe that he's hurt more things that he has helped.

Alien flora?

Daylami aren't even that much worse than Ghulam in terms of pure shooting.

I mean, they both have the same BS and no defensive skills. The Daylami with camo can even be better at shooting if they make use of surprise shot. Ghulam aren't meant to be doing lots of shooting though, they're generally around to feed orders to better units. Daylami can't do that, so they're not really a Ghulam substitute as they are a different kind of troop entirely.

As the guy who maintains it, yes. All quiet on the RPG front for a while now, newest shit is the AHS stuff. I think there might be one last version when they've finished printing the books, but that's it.

Guys, I need inspiration for basing. I was thinking of maybe just painting a road onto the base, but I'm not sure how that will turn out.
What do you guys do?

Create some pedestrian first using a plasticard. Add sands to the designated road for texture (just the road, not the pedestrian), then base it with black.

I already hate what bits of the face I can see. Glad I kept bought not-HUNK

There's a couple missions where the maps don't match the text. The ruling on the forums is that the text always wins.

Well, it sure looks better than just clipping the barrel away.

I usually try to texture such bases first with something. Milliputty or other epoxies, for example.

Hey I was looking for some advice. I want a Rasyat but the old models are pretty well old. So I was thinking about taking a Yu Jing Tiger Solider a hot as hell model and Morating it up.

But I am not sure how to do that does any one have any advice / ideas? I have some Spart Oznat Heads and a Sograt head I can use.

Just not sure what I want to do.

>so they're not really a Ghulam substitute as they are a different kind of troop entirely.

Which is exactly what I was saying. You play them as shitty attackers. After all, Active Turn attacks have advantage to AROs.

Paint them the Morat colors. If you have green stuff you might be able to sculpt the hair. See if you can give him a sword. I advise using the male model since it will give more of that Morat bulk. If Tiger soldier has a free arm you can swap it out with a Morat gun arm if you can find one.

Tiger Soldier and Rasyat Whose old model is amazing so shut the fuck up look overall pretty similar so you don't really need to do a lot.

I got the Spitfire one and I am thinking I might give him a Morat bayonet and the hair is a good call thanks.

Also I don't they look bad they just look old and don't fit well at all with the newer stuff IMO. I think Kurgats and Zerats have the same issue but not as bad.

Use Oznat head, cut the headdress off. Not fantastic, but it gets the job done quickly and easily. If you want anything better you

I like the old Rasyat models too (apart from the old CA spitfire design), but I can respect someone wanting their army to be consistent.

youtube.com/watch?v=d6dycCqqZS0

The first Sogarat.

My friend made his Rasyat by gluing the wings from a garuda tacbot to his Raktorak with Vulkan Shotgun.

You can also have them follow your dudes and provide additional ARO support. Remember, 2 AROS from different sources can fuck someone up

One of my buddies did the same thing with the "starfish" from the old Rasyat.

Oh man that sounds pretty cool as well I might have to do that.

ooooooh, that's really dirty.

Out of our group of 5... 2 have sold up.

Feels morose man...

All WIP14 means is a 70% chance of success and it seems I've been fucked by probability hard, but the Worm honestly kills more things than he saves. Plus he's fat. S3 is absolute trash for a specialist you really want to keep out of sight. This is why for missions where it's allowed I take a Treitak Spec-Ops medic/engie, always with WIP15 - at least he can fit through narrow doors and has a little bit better chance to not kill things.

Also Sophotect is a superior Dr. Worm and that makes me extra salty.

You do understand that Dr. Worm can get re-rolls on things for command tokens?

One of ours too, though it might have been Rodok instead.

holy crackers that is a lot of different skills and actions that units can do

how do you remember them all?

Hey I have only played a new few games but I think I might have fucked something up.

I was throwing smoke grenades while I was in the smoke.

But after reading the rules a bit more do I have to do a speculative fire to be able to do that and if so why?

Yes because you can't see in smoke.

I thought most sane people removed command tokens from their games.

>no coordinated orders
>no fireteams
Nah, it's just you and it's retarded.

>I thought most insane people removed command tokens from their games.

Had to fix your post. You had a typo.

Not at all. Aside from strategic use sucking orders away (which has been partially mitigated with the most recent ITS season) command tokens are universally fantastic improvements to the game.

Most units do only some things well, so it's not that hard. Sometimes you don't. At the beginning it's not rare to forget even pretty major special sklls a particular unit have, like mimetism, but with time it becomes easier and you can always check the profile.

It's when you remember stuff you begin to have problems with toolbox units, as you have so many option it's difficult to choose.

I think printing out the skills onto index cards might help, especially for the hacking programs

does anyone sell decks or already printed order and hacking cards?

There's one, but hardly needed since Army apps already handle it for you.

By playing with the same list a lot. You get familiar with the specific rules of your guys and get that shit on lock.

Yeah, I've made the same mistake. You have to do Speculative Fire because the smoke you are in blocks LoS.

Command Tokens are an extra layer of complication but they do add a whole lot to the game when you wrap your head around them.

captainspud.com/n3hacking/

get_out_of_my_property.jpg

yeah, buff cubes, when my faction doesn't have cubes. limit orders when I already have more orders then others. give CO when I don't need them as all tokens can be moved with one order anyway. They only buff people that play yu jing or aleph, and fuck those people and their msv2 models.

>when my faction doesn't have cubes
Aaaaand mystery solved.
I bet that you're from Eastern Europe

Estonian cross-dresser please kill yourself.

I'll take a slightly riskier bet and say Poland. They can be hard to distinguish but I've got a good feeling about this one.

>pooland
>not Eastern
inb4 Central Europe meme

Cube Jaegers in army builder.
They're weird AD2 paramedics.

Poland was always western europe. Defenders of catholic faith, defending europe against the turkish and russian barbarians. Copernic and Curry, only place that welcomed jews an mass where they had their own senat, gathered own taxs etc.

Happy they cost .5 SWC.

can Ariadna take them?

Not what I expected.

I mean specifically Poland, within Eastern Europe.

Maybe they weren't once, but they're full Eastern Europe now. Starving under communist rule does things to people, turns them into savages who despise decency.

Man, those look very nice with Joan/Wallace.

A full on Doctor profile would have been pretty cool though.

All vanilla armies have them at AVA1. No sectorials though.

So with this update does that mean that TAGs keep their specialist profiles? Which armies got to keep Scarface?
