empire knights look more aesthetic and have more lore on the different orders than bretonnians.
Logan Reed
It kind of fits with their tabletop theme, as far as I understand it - they put all their eggs into that one big charge that shatters their enemy. Which sucks against Undead and Dwarves, but not much we can do about that.
Lucas Walker
yea but theyre so weak it doesnt matter I was trying to kill a minotaur unit by first attacking them with peasants and then hitting them in the rear with some knights of the realm.

Is there any lore on your favorite faction that you never really cared for? Some part of their society, history or something else that you wish was toned down, made more prominent or removed altogether?
Colton King
They need to stop the unrelenting tide of "musk squirting" in every skaven novel. Was a neat little tidbit about the assassin's removing their scent glands, but just stop.
Matthew Parker
>cowardly creatures piss themselves in combat. seems alright to me.

The insistance that female dwarfs have beards, but that's more of a general fantasy thing. I've never understood why a secondary sexual characteristic like facial hair would apply to females among dwarfs but not humans or halflings or even elves (when they have it). Just seems like someone pushing their dumb bearded lady fetish.
Elves not having any facial hair. Yes it's a niggling but it bothers me that they're all smooth and nubile, even the White Lions who are basically elf lumberjacks that wrestle giant murder cats in their spare time and guard the Pheonix King.
Beastmen being so one-dimensional. They're just the unloved, angry bastard children of chaos. No one likes them, not even Chaos, and that's basically it. I wish they were more like the Fimir or whatever they are; they have their own will and culture, but they've just about always been devoted to Chaos. What I've really wanted was for the Beastmen to be a fallen race; they had living spirit gods when they were top-dogs in the Old World, before the rise of the nations of men, but those gods were either killed as man rose up, or sacrificed to the Dark Gods of Chaos as a means to barter power so they might fight back the usurping manlings. As they are, Beastmen lore makes them out to be a single unit from the Warriors of Chaos that managed to get a whole army book.
Lizardmen asexually reproducing from underground spawning pools. I understand that it draws from the Aztlan origination myth, but it makes them seem very fragile, like it's bizarre that Lizardmen would have even lasted this long if there's a predetermined number of them and all it would take is one little bunch of skaven to dig up into their spawning holes and go omelet-crazy.
William Butler
Brets not technically getting mercenaries is flavorful, but it also gimps them. They've had to make a lot of sacrifices for flavor, so I think allowing them to bend the rules a little would make them feel a bit more like a real faction instead of one surviving by handwaving. I love them, but it feels like nothing bad at all happened to them aside from Merovech.

Would WFRP 2E work with just two Player Characters (and the GM, obviously)? Or does it only really function with 3+?
Samuel Reyes
To be fair, with the huge gap in male to female numbers with dwarves, I think with most other races almost never seeing a female dwarf would start the jest of "well maybe we did see one! It's the beard!" And the joke kind of became urban legend. Since females are highly revered in whf dwarf lore, they wouldn't be talking about them so loosely to other races. Gotta remember information was word of mouth and generally discarded if it wasn't relevant.

Nothing, really, though vampires derive their power and vitality from dark magic, and so will make considerable use of times when Morrslieb is closer or fullet.
Tyler Rivera
>Tell me about Vlad and Isabella, why exactly do they love eachother so much?
We don't really know specifics beyond that they were both impressed and intrigued by the force of will the other showed.
>What does Isabella think of Mannfred and Konrad?
Nothing, she's Vlad's favorite. Mannfred was intensely jealous of her.
>What are Vlad and Isabella's actual plans?
Rule the Empire as an undead power couple. Probably from there try to expand across the world.
>What is their sex life like?
Vampire sex involves both regular sex acts and back-and-forth feeding. It's why their gets sometimes inherit bits of other bloodlines, any vampire they've ever fed on (in violence) or fucked is still a part of them.
Brody Torres
MAYBE STOP-STOP RUN-FLEEING AT SMALL NOISE-SOUND THEN!

>The insistance that female dwarfs have beards, but that's more of a general fantasy thing.
Good news for you, this is explicitly NOT a thing for dwarfs in Warhammer Fantasy, and asking about it or implying it's true is deeply, deeply offensive to dwarfen men. Dwarf women grow out their hair for their entire lives, and their elders are called 'longplaits.'
Source: Dwarfs: Stone and Steel.
Jackson Collins
Let them use 'shepherd' mercs. Adds a bit more variety to their armies and lets you bring in more Tilean/Estalian flavor to the game.
Brayden Gomez
I don't think I've ever seen art of a WHF female dwarf.
Cameron Bailey
It works, but the RP might get a bit dull. Depending on the players and the DM's ability to control themselves, giving them an also-came NPC to spice up conversations might be fun, as long as he or she isn't showing up the PCs.
Lucas Russell
You ever see Hotel Transylvania?

Lizardmen being relegated to handwaving in the jungle anytime something big happens. especially chaos related, seeing as it's meant to be their job to be the fun police

Pretty good if you want Empire or Dogs of War-style troops, but what if you want dwarves or high elves? Dwarf shepherds?
Still would be cute to see a little sheep mascot in a unit.
Julian Stewart
Tried it. System wasn't the best. Tried Streets of Marienburg along with the Apocalypse World generic moves and threat wheel added in and it got a lot more fun for both of us.
Player spends more time dealing with human NPC threats than dungeon crawling, so heads up if that's not your thing.
Jacob Davis
>Lizardmen asexually reproducing from underground spawning pools.
I hate that, when did it become the official lore? I always read spawning pools as just the places lizardmen go to lay their eggs.

Literally any aspect of a faction (or an entire faction) that is exaggerated to such absurdity that it destroys their plausibility.
For example, Dark Elves assassinating rivals, engaging in mass slavery and debauched religious practices etc. is perfectly fine and there are plenty of historical examples. Dark Elves attacking everyone for lulz, betraying each other every five seconds and never forming bonds for any reason beyond the acquisition of power and/or cruelty is fucking moronic. There is no nation or culture on the face of the earth capable of functioning in such a state.
Ian Evans
This is almost entirely the fault of the Gotrek and Felix books. Not all Skaven are written the same (they pretty much talk like normal people from the Skaven POV in the Nagash books, for example)
Michael Jenkins
Not this user but how about 5 players and a gm? Will it take an ungodly long amount of time for turns and such? What are the generic moves/how do they work/is the the threat wheel part of the same system?
Kevin King
Huh, surprisingly close to D&D 4e's art of female dwarves (Though I think a lot of that is both of them actually tried to make female dwarves stocky and strong looking rather than anime girls or bearded women)
Josiah Peterson
The fact there were only 12 Steam Tanks, and now there are only 8, and the Imperial Engineering College goes full-on Admech with them, able to painstakingly reconstruct said tanks while not understanding how to build a simple pressure gauge. Given their crazy-impractical willingness to experiment on many other harebrained ideas (like mechanical horses or pigeon-bombs), it's really jarring to see them not able to attempt to build a mass-producable steam engine.
On another note, the fact Dwarfs are quite fine placing Runes on cannons, organ guns, and other impersonal machines, but making a Rune Pistol is an apparent no-no. A duelling pistol, passed from one Dwarven Pirate to another, or a free-roaming Dwarven gunslinger (think old-school Wild Wild West or so).
Tyler Cruz
Not much else you can do to set dwarves apart - otherwise you've pretty much got halflings, or bearded women. And even the bearded women I've seen are usually stocky, because that's just a dwarven trait.
Ethan Richardson
>Not this user but how about 5 players and a gm? Will it take an ungodly long amount of time for turns and such?
That's a lot of people but it should be fine. Especially if you use roll20's wfrp character sheets to speed everything up.

Elements of the whole Tomb King-Vampire Counts background that was pushed as part of the armybook split. I mean even Vlad had been retconned to a Nehekhara character (Vahanesh and almost Ankhat) and Josh Reynolds was planning to do the same with Mannfred in the unreleased Mourkain finale.
Don't get me wrong, I liked a lot of the TK-VC conflicts like Neferata and Khalida, the Mourkain/Strigoi Empire etc. but it overshadowed everything else in the undead lore. I liked the earlier editions where the themes were a bit more mixed (Old World liches etc.)
so now that the old world and WHFB is that, can someone please tell me, why the fuck are these titles being released???
Justin Cox
>so now that the old world and WHFB is that ?
Chase Hall
Yeah, this was silly. They should've just explained them away as being extremely time consuming, expensive in time and resources, impossible to construct without an extremely limited pool of specialists and thus realistically out of reach of anyone except the ruling classes of Imperial City-States.
Asher Phillips
old world and WHFB is dead, sorry
Jeremiah Cox
The mechanical horse thing was retarded. That went from Da Vinci/Early Industrial Revolution tech straight to steampunk stuff we can't even do today. And no magic involved.
They should have stuck to the concepts.
Dominic Murphy
I would say because they don't really give a fuck about the WFB IP anymore and are thus more liberal with whoring it out to outsiders, though remember the Warhammer deal wasn't officially announced until 2012 and AFAIK Black Library's own writers weren't informed of the basic premise of the End Times until around 2013, so whether ET had anything to do with it I dunno.
Remember the licence was probably tied up with failed titles like Mark of Chaos and Warhammer Online until the late 00s anyway.
Thomas Adams
Oh. I don't know, it really is odd. We have had more for warhammer fantasy since it's death then we have had for years of being active.
Jaxson Carter
Beastmen's complete hate for all sorts of building never really felt right to me.

"Awesome but Impractical", a centerpiece for the army in other words. Mechanically, their use as a "chariot +1" MAC truck also goes in spite of thier "limited relic" use, when they could make more sense as a siege-platform or so.
On another note, the idea of a steam-powered cannon is an accident waiting to happen if you know anything about the history of airguns (imperfect manufacturing meant weapons that relied on air pressure instead of blackpowder were always at risk of exploding). Rather, granting firing slits for repeater handguns or so, and making it akin to a mobile MG bunker/trenchbuster would make its usage more akin to how tanks were first historically used.
And finally, although the Empire has Grenade-launching Blunderbusses, regular thrown grenades are an apparent no-no, even in their own detachment system. Yes, they're in the fluff, but last time I recall Empire getting regular grenades for field use was...3rd edition?
Mason Hernandez
In 6th and 7th, they could get away with this because the Lance Formation meant less models required to rank up, and all models in the flanks could attack. So while a "regular" unit of 15 Empire Knights only got to attack with 5 models, a Bretonnian Lance got to attack with 11. (An exaggerated example of course).
Since chargers attacked first, I3 mattered little, and since casualties meant models that could not fight, T3 didn't matter as much (sigh, unless against Elves).
8th nerfed the shit out of Bretonnians, via Supporting Attacks, Steadfast, charges not granting first strike, and casualties not penalizing return attacks.
Brody Morgan
Also for the saurus >never ages/dies from old age
Bentley Parker
To be fair Skaven don't either. Or at least the council of thirteen is seemingly immortal/ incredibly long lived

They use warpstone devices to extend their life. The great horned rat also seems to bless them.

Yeah, but that's from unholy sorcery, Moulder fleshwarping, and mainlining pure warpstone.

Those are nu-hammer already, they didn't exist before the 7th edition.
Jayden Wood
>Josh Reynolds was planning to do the same with Mannfred in the unreleased Mourkain finale.
That happened in the End Times anyway.
Landon Gray
Eh, the first few 7th armybooks might still be "oldhammer"ish, and Andy Chambers was still at GW when Empire came out IIRC. The "long-maintained relics" part about Steam Tanks was in the 6th Cavatore supplement for them as well.
Wyatt Moore
I have nothing against stanks being long-maintained relics, but I have a lot against robot horses. I also dislike other kinds of 7th edition shark jumping, like Blood Knights, Speed of Asuryan, all Chaos Warriors having Chaos Armor and the Hellpit Abomination.
Charles Sanchez
misses the entire point of the virgin chad meme, so not really

Ethan Cooper
This art is horrible, and not Warhammer...
Leo Cox
The generic moves and threat wheel are both explained in the Apocalypse World book. I think you can find the generic basic moves online, but the threat wheel is just a useful GM device for the AW style of play where NPCs often take an unhealthy and active interest in your player's characters after they've played for a bit.
Luis Jones
7th WHFB could easily be two games though. Pre-VC and Daemons was still very much "old GW" mentality, compared to afterwards. It also wasn't until Lizardmen that you got the general "cgi-designed big monster" trend that would come to define 8th.
Anthony Reyes
>Eh, the first few 7th armybooks might still be "oldhammer"ish Wrong, nigger. 6th isn't "oldhammer" either.
