FLG was reviewing the Admech Codex today. They say the codex is really great and most things are scary.
Matthew Lopez
Any ideas or hopes as to what we'll get as our legion trait, Thousand Sons players? What about psychic powers? I think the return of something like soulblaze could be pretty neat. Maybe doombolt and stuff too.
Oliver Wood
>re-roll building damage
Luke Baker
>+1 on Psychic tests against buildings in cover
Blake Collins
You're a right cheeky cunt, m8.
Liam Scott
So do you guys think that the parallels between the Horus Heresy and Satan's fall in Paradise Lost were coincidental or intentional? Both were mighty among their respectful kin, both were motivated by notions of equality which inevitably drew them into evil, and both were ultimately powerless against the 'All-Mighty' despite initial success in their final battle, which was followed by banishment to a Hellscape. Obviously the Heresy isn't a full-on rip of Paradise Lost, but there seem to be enough similarities to warrant the question.
Austin Stewart
>+1 on psychic tests (counts towards Perils) >Mandatory power generation from the Tzeentch Daemons table, no Dark Hereticus for you >Warpflamers points increase due to regaining Warpflame >Magnus points decrease
Chase Mitchell
Honestly they're not wrong if you do the right build and pop the right stratagems.
The problem is it doesn't leave a lot of room for customization if you make them good, they're probably going to be pretty mono-list in the competitive scene.
Carter Green
>it's another rerolling buildings to cover +1 tests of psychics
Samuel Thomas
I think people expect to get broken stuff and stuff like WarConvo. Rather, character spam and IG are outliers that need to be brought down
Ian Wood
I want protective psychic powers. I want rubric squads to be able to take something other than smite. Maybe only perils on double 1s. I want weapons options on Scarab Occults. Maybe an actual heavy weapons unit because I REAAAALLY struggle with high toughness high wound models. Spend CP to auto pass a psychic check. I want Icon if flame to not suck dick.
Nathan Perez
So what's going on with those monopose deathshroud. I thought the actual kits were supposed to be poseable
William Martin
I think they just hoped to get the nerfs to Skitarii Infantry undone. Which honestly should have happened.
Jeremiah Brooks
Maybe intentional, maybe a side-effect of ripping off of all that 80's HEVY METUHL which happened to take a lot of themes from Paradise Lost.
Furthermore, the RL Horus myth is similar to Lucifer's story anyways.
Evan Bennett
>I want protective psychic powers. Almost definitely happening.
>I want rubric squads to be able to take something other than smite. Unlikely but possible.
>Maybe only perils on double 1s. How often do you roll double 6's that this is a problem? Modifiers don't increase the chance of perils because 11+1 is not the same as "double 6".
>I want weapons options on Scarab Occults. If it's not on the sprue it's never ever happening.
>Maybe an actual heavy weapons unit because I REAAAALLY struggle with high toughness high wound models. New units would be really nice, I hope they get something to bring them more in line with the huge Death Guard release.
>Spend CP to auto pass a psychic check. Look at GK. You'll probably get something more like spend a CP to do a psychic test on 3d6.
>I want Icon if flame to not suck dick. Icon of Despair didn't change, doubt this one will either.
Ian Sullivan
Its intentional, they've said so before in older interviews.
Carson Price
No real battle report this week from me. A new player showed up to the flgs looking to play his first game, so I ran a little skirmish tutorial with him - very simple, pretty much just walk forward, shoot, charge to help him get a grasp of the mechanics and how his weapons worked.
After the game was over I took a few pictures of the other two games going on: marines vs sisters and guard vs chaos.
Hunter Mitchell
...
Andrew Turner
>How often do you roll double 6's that this is a problem? Modifiers don't increase the chance of perils because 11+1 is not the same as "double 6". 1/36 times. Memes aside, I think it's a fluffy change that isn't too strong.
>If it's not on the sprue it's never ever happening. Bummer. Combi bolters fucking suck.
Jose Hughes
...
Jason Ward
>RL Horus myth is similar to Lucifer's story anyways His dad was dead with a literal golden penis when he was inseminated, raised by his mother to overthrow his uncle and take revenge for his father's murder? Or that much of the details of his story have been lost to time? Or are you just talking out of your ass?
Brody Roberts
>Memes aside, I think it's a fluffy change that isn't too strong. It's definitely not too strong, in fact I think it's too weak to merit the space it would take up in the rules section unless it's bundled in with something else in the Legion trait. I expect they'll get something better than that.
>Combi bolters fucking suck. *Inferno* combi-bolters are pretty good, though.
Tyler Reed
...
Aaron Perez
>Grey Tau Memes aside well, I buy that he is new. Literally running the SC box barely put together Hopefully it was fun
Landon Phillips
Can't you just take Predators with lascannons?
Michael Parker
>Combi bolters fucking suck
nani? Inferno Combis on Scarab Occult are pretty good for the points.
Isaac King
He had a great time and said he'd be back next week. I gave him two pieces of advice: never buy an ugly model, paint what you buy before buying more.
Luis Sullivan
>bundled in with something else in the Legion trait I'm about that. "Masters of the warp - units with TS keyword only perils on double 1s. Additionally, ts units add 1 to deny the witch rolls"
>*Inferno* combi-bolters are pretty good, though Still S4
Jeremiah Bennett
>No one paints TS's like this anymore
It's a damn fucking shame.
Ayden Parker
I made the second mistake myself
Christopher Hall
>get imperial fist squadron >guard sprue has half the special weapons available to it goddamnit GW >also get chaos terminator lord/sorcerer box >sprue sheet is just folded in half, and instruction manual is folded, emphasizing they were just folded to fit into a smaller box
what the fuck GW, the last time I had this much awful quality I was working with finecrap.
Nicholas Johnson
This guy's custom chapter is the "Forge Lords", btw, which I misremembered as "Storm Lords" a few weeks back. He's all about tons of wargear and bionics.
Jaxon Hill
Call them.
Xavier Bailey
Similar in the broad strokes of the setup:
>bad guy ruling the kingdom >rebel to take out the bad guy!
except Horus won and Lucifer lost.
James Walker
>Still S4 Not that bad in this edition, you wound all the way up to T7 on a 5+
Also when TS get access to Veterans of the Long War that should really help carve things up.
Brayden Butler
Sisters won this game buy the first blood point.
Oliver Myers
S4 is all you need for killing MEQ.
Ian Cruz
I mean, what would they do? 'lolsorry!'
Jonathan Thompson
I thought his captain was a really cool conversion, so I got a closeup picture. If I ever start marines it will probably be Minotaurs with those crested helmets.
Hudson Reyes
Why is it that I see so much shit tier painting at stores? Like for every 20 shit armies there's one decently put together one. Am I the only one who deals with this? Or does that shit run rampant all over?
Ethan Butler
Usually they will replace the kit if you have a reciept
Parker Taylor
They'll likely send you free shit. Despite being garbage on the front end, GW does have pretty good customer service (in order to make up for that).
Adrian Hughes
Shoo shoo ADB
Grayson Perez
>Horus won and Lucifer lost. debatable on both accounts
William Miller
Are Tau breachers any good? What should I pair them with in their devilfish?
Blake Perez
>conversion user that's literally just a Sternguard. The kit is damn sexy though so it's okay.
Dominic Gutierrez
>replace the kit the kits are fine, the sorc box was just obviously shoved into a smaller box, and the guard kit has everything it SAYS it does, that's just not half of what guard has available to them.
Jaxon Cooper
Oh, is it? I don't play marines so I didn't recognize it. Still, very cool model.
Adam Evans
Thought about getting some rubrics for my Night Lords and painting them midnight complete with lightning. It would probably be similar to that pic, actually.
Grayson Gutierrez
>wound on 5+ Yeah. And you get a mountain of shots, which is nice. But I really just want a combi melta squad to dump on a vehicle. Or something other than a power sword. I just feel like vanilla chaos termies are always a better choice. Although I've owned the shit out of some infantry dropping them in, chaos familiaring for prescience. 16 2+ hits wounding on 4s ap-2 and dumping the hellfyre rack and auto cannon into big shit.
Jaxon Cooper
Dude, we told you this in the last thread. The Cadian sprue is fucking ancient, seriously it's either early 00s or late 90s, and back then you were fucking lucky if your unit leaders were even in plastic, let alone weapon options in the box. For reference the plastic Tactical Squad at the time had a ML and nothing else, because you got all your special weapons and shit in metal blisters. GW actually still sell the metal Cadian special weapons for precisely this reason.
Do what the rest of us do and just kitbash if you really must have X guys with Y weapon per squad.
Brandon Garcia
Why does it matter if it was shoved in a smaller box?
Jace Morgan
Right but rubrics are already like the best Meq killers in the game. I need to kill dreadnoughts and riptides with my Ds terminators, not tac squads.
Mason Anderson
Sure is. Well, actually, it's been so long since I bought a box I may be wrong on the shoulderpads and helmet (although the rest is for sure from Sternguard) but I'm confident I'm right.
It's a sweet kit though, I have a bunch I use as veteran sergeants for my regular dudes.
Jacob Baker
the chaos kit, for posterity.
you can see the folding crease on the sprue sheet.
yeah, I'm not trying to get new opinions on that, I just find it annoying.
do you think anyone short of tournament lists would care if I proxied shit like grenade launchers and meltaguns if I'm just using plasma?
just seems unprofessional.
Jacob Jones
I'm pretty lucky at my store and there is a lot of well painted dudes. Note that this is my LGS, not GW. There's another store about an hour away where I have to be nice when people are really proud of a frankly terrible paint job. There's another store about an hour and a half away where there's a guy who proudly shit paints because "muh tournament scene" and pays people to paint stuff he wants to look good. Actually, I recently found out that quite a few guys in my local group didn't paint theirs, which makes me conflicted about my stuff.
Kayden Reed
Say soulblaze and some spells from the discipline of Tzeentch were to come back for Thousand Sons. How would you balance them to fit more into 8th?
Blake Brown
You have preds, brutes, raiders, hell even maulerfiends for that. You shouldn't be throwing your terminators at those units.
Chase Cox
ok so my army has a nurgle demon prince with wings pushing up the middle of the map, and he needs an escort that can get him there fast, not die, and do a bit of damage when I get there. Do I pick a scourge/bolter helbrute, a plague flamer bloat drone, a melee defiler, or a plague flamer crawler (the DG tank)? I will cast -1 to hit on whatever is pushing so that will help some, and I have some other distraction units to keep the fire down a bit more, but I worry that it will be gunned down and leave my DP vulnerable
Ryder Ortiz
Are helbrute and mauler friends good? Captcha : 1000 veterans
Jason White
A bloat drone is pretty cheap, fast and survivable, I think it makes a good cover unit for that purpose.
Jeremiah Morris
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between what sprues you get in the 5 man intercessors vs 10? Was thinking of splitting a box of 10 with a friend for the slight savings, but not sure if it's just double the sprues of the 5 man box or if they skimp out on some stuff.
Also, this image isn't real and I'm sorry.
Luis Rogers
I think so too, but for the same price I can get the crawler with a lot more firepower, +1T, -1" movement (and no FLY) and 2 more wounds. That is what is messing with my calculations. The crawler just seems far harder to kill and when it gets near the front it can either stop and fire on hard targets or support my infantry and flame theirs. I do think both the bloat and the crawler would probably be better than the defiler
Oliver Howard
No difference. It's literally 1 set of the 2 sprues instead of 2 sets of the 2 sprues.
Nathan Reed
How funny would it be if GW made Scarab Occult Cataphractii terminators? Movement of 3" but 4++ with 3++ on All is Dust
Liam Jenkins
All the primaris infantry are duplicate sprues so no difference at all, they are made like that so you can have a 10man with 1 sergeant or two 5man with 2 sergeants
Alexander Carter
Are Termies still trash this edition? I love the look, plus the all-Termie army has Space Hulk implications. I don't really care about building a force for winning every game, just one that doesn't get stomped every single time.
And if I build an all Terminator force, should they be loyalists or Chaos?
Blake Turner
They are solid. Not miracles, but you arent gibbing yourself by taking them.
Tyler Campbell
Terminators are the best theyve ever been, its an optimal unit but you can win games and not get stomped in your casual games.
Aaron Cox
They're actually really good but they still cost a shitton.
Chaos termies are probably more versatile because of the huge buff to combiweapons and the lack of a forced power fist, despite loyalists getting TH/SS along with the specialist patterns of armor.
As a GK player I can tell you that Terminators are so fantastically better compared to 7th you'll probably overvalue them because they used to be such trash. They are still good but they are priced accordingly.
Mason Myers
Chaos termies with combi-plasma are currently disgusting with a little help from a sorcerer. However, termies in general are better because they have double the wounds and double the shots. Storm/Combi bolters being rapid fire 2 is a huge boon.
Samuel Martinez
I can't believe anyone would buy Morty over Typhus after this.
Angel Barnes
Could be interesting. FW already has that covered though model-wise.
Ayden Kelly
It's sad though because now GK terminators are also not worth taking over Paladins because of the points cost.
Ethan Sanchez
Do people ever use Eldar War Walkers? Ive seen a bunch of battle reports, but never any war walkers in them.
Ayden Myers
The Siege of Terra side-story is worth an anthology book at least. Lots of stuff- it's Earth! It was Earth all along! You've finally made a mon-keigh out of me! Earth is where all the non-Imperial stuff is! You just have to dig for it! What city did they stick the Eldar ambassador in so as to better ignore her? What about all the secret bases made to cope with the various disasters? The under-the-north-pole Shadow Government base? The secret hidden cloning facility made by The Houses Of Rulership when the Emperor wasn't on earth? The remains of the various heroes of the past- The sepulcher of The Shadow, the thrice-entombed body of Lenin, the grave of Future Captain Picard, etc etc. The hidden, untouched, never-found hidey-holes of the various aliens who took over the world, Twilight Zone and Outer Limits style? Where did they hide the ocean? Is there going to be anything about the planet Venus? There should be Squats? Kroot! Puns! Making jokes about other series, and just having fun. A lot of the early WH40k had stuff like "So you want us to go to the planet Duncan in the star system Hines, to rescue a foodstuff production factory from the Eldar... This is a joke about rescuing a cookie factory from the Keelber Elves!" Who will be the one to name-drop the White Dwarf magazine?
Ryder Cook
Terminator force? Go Deathwing m8, they have the best melee unit and have solid shooting unit along with fearless so no losses to moral, not to mention the ability to mix and match weapons allowing dedicated TH/SS tanks for the squad. The only other thing you'd need is a land raider or two for transport and anti-tank
Dominic Cooper
It's time to take your ritalin buddy

They are, but mostly because power fists got substantially cheaper in the transition to codex. I'm hoping Chapter Approved will fix it, but for now I'm in love with PAGK so my Termies are mostly sitting my games out, except a single squad of Paladins.
Angel Barnes
>gibbing yourself >mfw take 5 terminators >place them on table during deployment >instantly explode into giblets
Matthew Bell
Noice. Well I suppose there's no reason for us to not split then, thanks.
Jason Brown
Spamming PAGK is hilarious now. Though I take a squad of Terminators and 2 squads of Paladins, the former for fluff and the latter because they're a damn good bodyguard unit.
Adrian Murphy
Would a looted Interceptor backpack make a good counts-as jump pack for my Librarian from my chapter of scavenger marines?
I like the sticks, but putting it on a regular guy makes on sense and actually using its abilities requires psychic protection according to the fluff.
Easton Stewart
>deploying them on the table instead of teleporting This is bait, right?
Justin Brown
Sorry i only play the chapter that are good at sucking other guys like the Blood Angels
