No. I play the version of Mage that actually has a future.

No, because they rule over a world where you screwed up linking to the last thread.

Hey please share your fluff on "True Fae are behind everything" verse. I feel like it's something perfect for my taste and sensibilities!

The only future the Technocracy offers is the murder of mankind's souls while they dance on the Nephandi's puppet strings — not that the orders are much better

Speaking of which, how's Technocracy in M20?

Revised era playable with meta plot elements removed.

So with this being a thing, I decided to start an Innocents campaign that will branch out into other splats depending on what choices the players make. But I'm not making a straight Pennywise clone, just something similar but also something some kinds/young teens could handle. So, rate my beastie.

A wendigo is a cannibal spirit that possesses people who succumb to cannibalism, but this one is different. Several hundred years ago, the spirit found a host that was a natural born psychic, a telepath. It's ability to read thoughts has let it glean intelligence from humans around it, and turned it into a more sophisticated hunter. The smarter people get, the smarter it gets in turn, so it feeds sparingly, and used it's influence to guide people into building a town. Now several thousand people live near it's lair, and it's power is great enough to make people not see what it does, it makes people forget seeing it, forget it's victims. The reason the PCs have to be kids is, adults have been living in it's presence for too long, they wouldn't see the creature if it was right in front of them. Kids however, can still perceive and remember it, so it hunts the children who get too close to the truth.

Sounds spooky. I like it.

I like it, especially how adults are inured to it. Pennywise also has a bunch of powers related to illusion, which is the reason for a lot of the stuff he's able to pull off. Will it be able to things like that?

And something you could do, potentially, is have an NPC that's helping the players, only for the monster to eat him and wipe him from memory so that the players are the only ones to know he even existed in the first place. Will they beat him like they do It? With the ritual of chud?

>Will it be able to things like that?
Yes, one of the background elements is a teacher fought it trying to save a student, and lost an arm. But he only remembers fighting a bear.

>Will they beat him like they do It? With the ritual of chud?

Because it's been around so long and wendigos are part of Algonquin mythology, they can (I hope) figure out to ask around the Indian reservation at the edge of town, one of the elders knows how to ward it off and has been protecting his people for years, but everyone else just thinks he's crazy and stupid white-eyes die because they're stupid. If the PCs figure out to ask him, he'll be able to give them some advice on what to do. Substances that harm it, where it might like to make it's home, how to recognize if it's close, etc. Various Hunter conspiracies are aware of the creature, but they're NOT aware that adults can;t see it due to proximity+time, they think it's just something that happens, so they stay away. When a bunch of kids manage to kill it, it's going to make them interested in how. Which in turn opens up opportunities for recruitment later on. Or one of them gets Embraced, or finds out his absentee father was a werewolf, or Awakens, or whatever.

How will you tip them off that it's a wendigo? Will you have strange Native American men hanging around, will it speak whatever tribal language sometimes, or just let them into a library and do the whole "investigate monster in the library/on the internet" thing?

If they can't figure out who to ask, they might not know what it is exactly. It's possible to kill it without knowing, but I'm going to drop hints that the reservation side of town has MUCH fewer missing kids. Hopefully they'll figure out to ask why.

Is there a way for a mage to get around Withstand ratings? I'm in a group faction game and a couple of the vampire players are raging that the game is unfair because they don't know how to use their fucking abilities. They can't take us in a fight but we're not IN a fight (yet) they just don't understand that vampire stealth and mind powers are top of the tier.

Anyway, the one gal is making noises like she's gonna push things to open conflict and I want to hit her or her ghoul with totally unopposed Exceptional Luck to try and break her spirit so she doesn't realize shotguns are still scary even to mages.

Also, can you (assuming you have the mana) cycle mage armors? For example can you use Fate to let you defend against a gunshot and then if any successes get through switch to Matter to soak the shot in the same action?

>Is there a way for a mage to get around Withstand ratings?
Don't affect them directly?

>turning vampire into a pile of flaming poo
Is Withstood
>locking vampires down in a dumpster of diarrhea
Not Withstood

>Is there a way for a mage to get around Withstand ratings?
An exceptional success on the spell casting roll.

>Also, can you (assuming you have the mana) cycle mage armors? For example can you use Fate to let you defend against a gunshot and then if any successes get through switch to Matter to soak the shot in the same action?
Yes, the only limit to the number of shield attainments you can use per turn is how much mana you can spend per turn.

>Is there a way for a mage to get around Withstand ratings?
Yes, an Exceptional Success. Direct damage spells also don't have a Withstand rating, as Stamina is part of Health already.

>Also, can you (assuming you have the mana) cycle mage armors?
Yes, raising and changing your Mage Armor is a reflexive action. And if you have Matter 3 and a spell slot available, ritual cast Aegis to turn your clothes into armor if you're worried about guns. Iirc mundane armor stacks with Mage Armor. The Primary Factor is Duration, so if you use your free Reach for Advanced Duration, you can make it last for a week, no penalties, or a month with a -2. Although I would save the dicepool for upping Potency.

And if you wanted to enchant more than one piece of clothing you would need to up Scale, so just go all in on a jacket or something. Assuming you have Matter 3.

>Have you submitted to the Exarchs yet?

The change in order status - using it as resources dots for magical items, and for the seers, mundane resource dots too - is a really good thing, I think. It helps to drive home the illuminati feel of the Exarchs.

I really hope that they go into detail in any future supplements on that. I didn't like the quasi religious focus of the original book, but 'magic is payment' seems like the best way for them to go forward with that - sure, you're worshipping the 'true gods', but they mostly just want you to get your shit done, not scream their praises. Except gate-sempai.

>vampire players are raging that the game is unfair

Life isn't fair. Mages and vampires, particularly in the second editions, are not supposed to be "balanced" in any meaningful way.

Whenever there is doubt or confusion on the subject, simply consult the Wisdom of Dave(tm).

So how about them deva?

Daeva?

They're pretty. I guess.

My second favorite clan.

What arcana do you have and what exactly are you facing?

1. Obrimos
2. Mastigos
3. Acanthus
4. Moros
5. Thyrsus

1. Nosferatu
2. Mekhet
3. Daeva
4. Gangrel
5. Ventrue

Thoughts?

I too enjoy what we've seen of Scion 2e but suggest holding off trying to force this thread to talk about it too until we have a full game.

Nosferatu are the worst clan and Gangrel are the best.

I don't care about Mage, you whore

I like the Nosferatu, what's your beef?

Serve The Gate and you'll get the cutest pets.

>That moment it turns into a dog and bus

What the fuck am I watching

The Gate is a slut

The truth.

Are pumpkins not the truth?

who is best girl?

Pumpkins

Archmages

The Exarch of the Gate, all praise unto the Lonely One.

Yeah, there is a disconnect between what it actually means, and what people expect from something called humanity.

Can elder vampires raise virtues above 5?

Virtues are a trait.

I've honestly never seen any reference to it, even among the characters of 4-6th generation who are statted out. Their virtues always top out at 5.

Why do older vampires take such long naps? Is it something they have to do, or is it schemes?

Why doesn't Cain ever do that?

Vampires progress slower mentally, I always thought. That's why a 500 year old Archmage acts older and wiser(and more insane) than a 5000 year old Methuselah, which apparently still act like the age they were turned(frozen mentality?)

So they sleep longer.

Torpor length is determined by their path rating and virtues. They enter Torpor because they're tired and need a 'break' - there's some sentences that suggest it refreshes a vampire for the times to come. Others go into torpor to hide.

As for Cain, well, please see his attached character sheet. He does what he wants.

this makes more sense than white wolf fucking sucks with immortals
i'm not sure if it's the same in requiem

Oh, and some powers can actually be used in torpor, and I think there's a Dementation power that lets you go into torpor, reap any 'benefits' and still act as a disembodied presence out in the umbra. So there's that.
Thankfully, they ditched the frozen mentality thing in VTR 2e. It wasn't really part of VTM, but vampires ended up stunted because the undead society isn't really a healthy one.

Wrong version

>Thankfully, they ditched the frozen mentality thing in VTR 2e

no, not thankfully. now we have no reason as to why vampires don't act their age.

Vampires can interfere with mages to some extent:

>A vampire with Thaumaturgy or Thaumaturgical
Countermagic can try to counter a magickal spell directed at her; a Wits + Occult roll (difficulty 6) “soaks” such spells, reducing the attack’s potency by one level (or die) per success. A vampire who eliminates a mage’s successes neutralizes the wizard’s spell. A Magi can also turn this ability around on vampires as well, using their countermagic against Kindred Disciplines.

Well, if you're unable to solve that dilemma in your own chronicle by thinking about it, there's nothing stopping you from houseruling it back in.

Is that user making horrors still around? How would you stat this guy?

bunniculatvseries.wikia.com/wiki/Bunnicula

you're essentially admitting the 'frozen mentality' thing was a good thing.

it didn't prevent vampires from learning shit, it only made themselves a perfect mirror of who they were before their embrace.

you're only as old as you act when you have a shitty form of immortality

>A Magi can also turn this ability around on vampires as well, using their countermagic against Kindred Disciplines.

*cough* *cough* Mage Supremacy *cough* *HACK* *cough*

No, I'm not 'admitting' it. I think it's quite stupid, and there are many reasons a vampire might not 'act their age'. In the same way that people don't 'act their age'. If you don't feel that works for your chronicle, there's nothing stopping you using it.

When are we going to get a Tremere-like clan in VTR?

I liked those creepy bastards.

nah, it's stupid. a ten-thousand year old vamp shouldn't act like the 30-something caveman he originally was.

it's bad storytelling and entirely illogical, as that's not how the mind works.

There's something in the conversion guide, and I think the closest we have are the rumoured breathdrinkers.

Probably never, though. The role of out and out hermetic occultists is filled by the Ordo; introducing a wizard clan isn't too likely.

>and there are many reasons a vampire might not 'act their age'

I mean, not really? The brain doesn't just stop processing things, which is why the frozen mentality view is consistently brought up.

Why would you use 5 as the best for mages, but 1 as the best for vampires?

Please, when are we going to get the Tzimisce?

There are sorcerous factions in Requiem, user.

Never. I'm already in the process of making a flesh-crafting Legacy called the Tzimisce, mirroring the Tremere now being a mage schtick.

Bite me

>flesh-crafting Legacy called the Tzimisce

NO

>Never. I'm already in the process of making a flesh-crafting Legacy called the Tzimisce, mirroring the Tremere now being a mage schtick.
I'm alright with that. Share it when you're done.

We must all suffer for the sins of the magic weirdos.

Haven't seen the show, but I read some books. It sounds like the tone of the show is different. In the books, Bunnicula is deniably supernatural, the protagonist tries in vain to warn the world, and only the animals-and-vegetables theme keeps it from being genuine psychological horror.

CofD ain't no anthropomorphic animals setting for the most part, so the best approach is allegorical, with the cast being foster children, not pets. Bunnicula could feed on either Prey (blood), fear (of his powers/the unknown), theft (of food? superficially the most faithful choice but also the weakest), or submission (Tyrant). Obviously Bunnicula is small and quite young.

His most important powers involve movement, concealment, and escape. As a vampire or something like one, he's also associated with darkness. Shadowed Soul is an easy choice. Eshmaki is right for a creature of darkness, and the dragon angle ties back to vampirism through Vlad Dracul. Depending on how subtle you want Bunnicula and his Hunger to be, either From the Shadows (subtle) or Limb from Limb (less subtle). Spend XP promptly on a Social option for a "Vampire thrall" effect, such as Alien Allure or Siren's Treacherous Song.

Poor Light or Darkness are good Lair traits for a vampire. In Bunnicula's case I'd say Darkness and Jagged or Undergrowth (representing household clutter). Another possibility is Poor Light with Exposed or Razored, or Darkness with Sealed Exits or Cramped. The key is that Bunnicula should be able to attack effectively in a private home.

For nightmares, They Are All Around You and You Are Not Alone. Bunnicula inspires paranoia and both of these use Manipulation, which he's good at. If he has the Presence for it, You Deserve This is a strong addition, as Chester and Harold frequently get into trouble trying to stop him.

One of his siblings is likely to be a Hero, and the other often willing to go along. On the other hand, Bunnicula finds it easy to manipulate his foster parents.

I second-guessed myself on Manipulation, maybe Presence is the way to go. In that case, good nightmares are You Deserve This and You Must Obey.

It says mages can only benefit from one mage armour at a time. Changing it reflexively like that is benefiting from two mage armours in one combat action.

You can change it reflexively but not in the middle of an action, only before or after one (has finished completely)

>Cycle mage armors
p913
>A mage can only benefit from one form of Mage Armor at a time, but can spend Mana to change between Arcana as a reflexive action.

>p913
page not found

193

As in they can only have one type up at a time, as opposed to Mage Sight, which can include multiple Arcana. So you can't have Space and Mind armor up at the same time, but you can change between the two reflexively. And of course you are limited per turn by your Gnosis derived mana limit, so it's not like you can change it half a dozen times in one turn. Unless you're a Gnosis 6 Master. This is why Praetorians being able to raise and change Mage Armor at no Mana cost is a pretty sweet Attainment.

"A reflexive action is the sort of thing you don’t even need to
think about doing. Most rolls to resist supernatural powers are
reflexive. You can take a reflexive action at any time, and it
doesn’t take your turn in combat."
p.214

I know what it means faggot.

But you cant decide to benefit from space armor to reduce somebodys dicepool by your defence AND then reflexively change it to matter space armor and benefit from giving yourself armor that reduces the damage done.

>I know what it means faggot.

Can you be any ruder?

Yes.
I dont need some faggot pasting the fucking reflexive action rules at me. When i have already posted the relevant text from the Mage book that mentions benefiting from one mage armor at a time.

Think you're on reddit Changeling faggot?

I think I'm on the official boards and you need to start using my pronouns (xong/xang) or I'll have you banned.

I don't see why not. You can take a reflexive action at ANY time. All you have to go on is your interpretation of what it means to benefit from two kinds of Mage Armor at the same time, which I take to mean you can't have two up at the same time. Go by your retarded interpretation if you want.

You cant take a reflexive action at any time you can take an action not during somebody else action. Only before that action or after that action, a reflexive action is still an action.

You cant swap before a attack is rolled and after its rolled but before damage is applied.

Benefit from one mage armor is pretty clear. Go fuck yourself if you cant understand it.

Sorry you cant only take a relfexive action anytim you could take a normal action, it just doesnt use your action for that round.

Reflexive actions can be used mid somebody elses action you fucking mongo.

Seems my phone thinks Can and Cant are interchangeble.

Probably because you aren't using apostrophes. Anyway, where does it say that you can't use a reflexive action during someone else's turn?

I said during somebody elses action. Not somebody elses turn.

If you have one mage armor up and get its defence so your opponent lowers his dicepool and then does damage you cant relexively change it to matter armor to give yourself another benefit and reduce that damage via armor.

You need to decide before their action what mage armor your are benefiting from. You can change it after that action but you wont benefit from it vs that action.

>official boards
go fag yourself manx and your made up genders
HELICOPTER SEX. Twirly Bird Changeling

>I said during somebody elses action
Then where does it say that?

>Not understanding common fuck sense
The roll happens instantaneously
You can't get a def bonus and then an armor bonus.
That's retarded because the damage happens as the dice are roll.

Reposting.

Beast: the Attack Helicoptering.

Ugallu with Dragonfire and Wings of the Raptor. The helicopter flies (or kinda jumps) and fires incendiary rockets.

Lair: Thunderous and Exposed. The helicopter carries a boombox with a tape of helicopter sounds and cranks it up to summon the Lair.

Nightmares: Run Away, You Will Never Rest. You can't fight the helicopter, and a machine doesn't tire like your weak flesh.

Hunger for Ruin: The helicopter doesn't need to eat. It needs to destroy. Dragonfire rockets burn vehicles and homes. If you survive, despair in the wake of the helicopter.

Legend/Life: Attack Helicopter (rain fire from the sky)/Otherkin (discover your secret self with likeminded others)

Advancement: Become more helicopter-like. Get a megaphone for shouting orders (You Must Obey), a fan to simulate downblast (Crosswinds or Hurricane), and a handheld spotlight to search the ground (Blazing Light). Get Relentless Hunter, Shadowed Soul, Unbreakable, and maybe Storm-Lashed. Obsessively research strafing and airstrikes and mimic authentic helicopter behavior. You are an attack helicopter.

reflexive does not mean an interrupt.

Forget reflexive actions for a moment, benefiting from ONE mage armor is the relevant text here.

Declare a Combat action
person gets to reflexively change mage armor
roll combat action, apply results
person gets to reflexively change mage armor

Results have already been applied by the time the person changes the armor and he cant benefit from another one, however vs the next attack he now has another mage armor.

I see. That makes sense.

FUcK Yes MotherFuCKER
Black Ops going to fuck YOUR SHIT BOY. That'll teach you to go against the government

Why do I come back here

This shit is why D&D 4e separated this shit into 'Immediate Interrupt' and 'Immediate Reaction' as otherwise 'Take actions on other guys turns' stuff tends to generate timing confusion.

How would you guys stat Bill Cipher? True Fae?

Abyssal entity, somebody fucked up a spell bad. He tainted all the journal grimoires and now he can come back and try to destroy reality whenever those grimoires are studied. No hard and fast stats for the most part since any one manifestation is like an expendable materialized spirit body created on the spot. The real Bill Cypher is an eternal part of the void but he can at least be kept out by destroying the tainted relics and maybe some tainted people.

Lower Depths entity.

The True Faith Merit gives you 1 bonus die per dot to those rolls.

Illuminated Unmada Mane
Catalyst Hoffnung
Inspiration 10
Aesthetic: FRAT PARTY OF ETERNITY!

>Bill Cipher is a triangular dream demon formerly existent only in the mindscape who wished to gain access to the real world.
Goetia.

Okay, but let's make this harder: Time Baby
