Well, that last Skaven thread went to shit. How about a 40kaven thread?

So, are Rat Ogres the same? Or would there be weird geneseed in the mix as well?

Why not take inspiration from Cravers and just exchange insect = rat?

Mah nigga.

Rat ogres would certainly be functionally the same deal as the fantasy counterparts. Just roided up science experiments with cyborg parts.

I like the idea of any fallen space marines would have their geneseed sloppily harvested and stolen away, with it being used to make top-of-the-line SuperGolems™

Also, just how strong ARE rat ogre's? Ogryns or what?

Well to figure that out we would have to know just how strong Ogryn are, do you have descriptions of their equipment or feats of strength?

Relivent pastebin for the 40kven.

Fuck YES.

Cravers are fantastic but there's really one major difference between them and Skaven: as individuals, Cravers are polite, community-minded people with no concept of individual want. They're only paranoid asshole monsters as a civilization, because they prioritize the continuation of their civilization over all else. Cravers can actually be integrated into other societies and are usually extremely dutiful, work-orientated populations when part of a larger empire that curbs their hivethink.

>A 2.5 meter tall amalgamation of flesh and steel working a desk job in the Sophon Empire
>Always hands its reports in on time
>Always refills the coffee pot
>Takes a 5-minute lunchbreak to consume nutrient paste

needs more space skaven.

I thought skaven could be introduced as a tau client race. It would help to expand that faction a bit. The skaven would nominally be supporting the "greater good", but there would be lots of hints that the skaven are just manipulating the tau until they believe they can take over, then vermintide.

The Imperial Guard kind of already fill the 'utterly expendable continuous supply of (relatively) craven cannon fodder' niche. And the Haemonculus have the mutation/skin-graft quackery well in their court. On top of that wyrdstone is visually all too familiar to Necron Gauss weaponry in presentation.

It wouldn't be pointless to include the Skaven in 40k, but something about them would have to change to make it marketable or intriguing other than 'rats in space'.

>Skaven
>working with anyone who isn't themselves

duly noted, I still like the idea and am mulling an AdMech conversion army, any input on bits is welcome.

Our Rogue Trader GM pulled these little bastards out on us after some Warp shenanigans put our ship in a time flux, parts of the ship near the gellar field generator were a few hours out of sync, at the extremes of the ship things got a bit more wonky.

Most of it didn't matter, some sections got a few years, a few got a few decades or even centuries, chugging along with the crews doing what they always did, making kids and teaching them how to do their jobs.

Then the god damn cargo bay managed to get about ten thousand years ahead of us and we find when we check it out that some of the 'space rats' that every ship inevitably has (where man goes, vermin follow) had evolved. Find a scrap metal fortress in the middle of the place, mushroom farms and god damn space-Skaven freaking out because we stepped into 'their' world.

Ended up dropping the air pressure until they passed out and traded off the entire population to the Styrxis.

Little shits are still in the air vents, though.

So do the orks and tyranids yet they both fit in fine alongside the guard as part of the setting.

The 40kven have their 13 member pantheon of rat gods, the webway for out of nowhere attacks and a shitload of psykers/clerics running around on top amazing superweapons surrounded a tide of irreverent feral meatbags armed with rusted knives.

Their peaks are more numerous and higher and the weakest are weaker then even the worst of the worst. That is the skaven gimmick.

Where are you finding these pictures?

My first encounter with them was vermintide. I think there's a mission in that game where you're tracking down a traitor human or something who worked with the skaven.
