Where is Ghost's name is that from, and why is it not an assault cannon.
Sebastian Jackson
I'm loving the crockett on my scout/marksman adept. It lets me hang back for overwatch or be with the team advancing. Plus its pretty sexy. Wonder if I should stick an underbarrel grenade launcher on it...
Thomas Collins
I tend to go with a classic rifle, can't recall the name of it off the top of my head though
just remembered a fun game where our AI pilot basically served as a delivery drone while everyone else did evac. Not much of a story to tell, but if anyone wants to hear it I can share

>Bullet time. Tell me all about your raifu, the mods you give her, the rounds you load her with, the way you clean her off after a hard run and make sure she's nice and oiled. Then tell me about her sisters, because you can't have just one I keep my raifus simple. An optic, torch, sling, and easy breakdown. Just like my raifu in real life Chameleon coating if she's for an infiltrator.
The exact rifle I choose depends on the campaign, but usually I go with Ares Alpha with all the electronics removed (why design a great raifu and then ruin it by making it dependent on electric supply and vulnerable to hackers?) or AK97.

Something like this maybe? Code of Honor, Heaven's Devil >Always give 20% of run profits to community charities and outreach programs. >Always attend confession after a run. >Always stand up against acts of violence perpetrated against the downtrodden
Christopher Diaz
>20% of run profits That's not 'most of his nuyen'. Especially with the 'profit' qualifier
Cooper Ramirez
True but he does need enough to live..60%?
Owen Parker
No, that's fucking crippling. Base it off the gang CoH from RF, but make it a flat "any money earned", along with a donation of time (10 hours a week, say).
Better story hooks that way
Asher Adams
Why didn't you go the other way?
Angel White
What do you mean?
Camden Rodriguez
So half minus lifestyle costs? sounds fair.
Parker Hernandez
Shockpad, Optics, Sling, Melee Hardening, and Personalized Grip. PC is a mean mofo badass and Vivian is the perfect companion to down HRTs and mages.
For situations where bringing in an AR is too overt, a Ruger Super Warhawk with Handloaded ammo is adequate to put down targets and fools alike.
Jeremiah Richardson
People still use ARs in 2078?
Ethan Morales
Assault Rifle. Not Armalite Rifle.
Jack Jackson
Question. So, manifested spirits are dual-natured beings, acting on both planes simultaneously. It would be reasonable to assume they are then always perceiving on both planes simultaneously.
The trouble is, "performing a non-magical task while astrally perceiving" gives you a -2. Does that mean a spirit attempting to use any of its skills that aren't magical would take a -2?
I'm playing a PC free spirit, I really don't want to take a -2 to everything
Daniel Howard
People still use AKs in 2017?
Brandon Wood
A cut down Terracotta ARMS AM-47. Originally given to the team by a Johnson to take out a VIPs armored transport. My character held onto it after the run. I cut the barrel down to a more manageable length (mainly for fluffy purposes) and got rid of the commlink. Added a shock pad, foregrip, sling, melee hardening. It originally came with five magazines of depleted uranium handloads which were absolutely bonkers. I've since had to step down to just handload APDS because depleted uranium doesn't grow on trees. At this point, I could probably be using something more practical, but I just love the fuck you factor of blowing people away with a short barrel anti material rifle.
Bentley Rivera
Dual-natured means you don't take that penalty.
Eli Moore
1911s too. But you can find an AK in the gear section of 5e crb, while ARs are nowhere to be seen.
Juan Perry
You'd think with Caseless being around, and nearly 60 years of new arms industries, AKs, ARs, and 1911s would be long gone.
They're only in for luddites
Aaron Barnes
Colt M23
Aiden Young
People still regularly use muzzle loading rifles. You know, like the ones in the revolutionary war.
Grayson Richardson
For combat?
Oliver Hughes
No, but stat blocks aren't only provided for items used in combat.
Austin Hernandez
Why would you ever need a stat block if you're not going to use it in combat.
Aaron Walker
is there a random encounter generator or random job generator, I'm going to host a game for a bunch of dudes at my college thats drop in drop out and was hoping for some structures to follow for a list easy game.
Robert Morris
Maybe because the trend of old and "useless" firearms being much easier legally to purchase is true in shadow run? Maybe they look at them the same way we look at bolt action durr rifles. Maybe it's so we as readers have a frame of reference. It's entirely possible for us to know the relative strength of an AK pattern rifle, therefore if we have the stats for it we can know how a combat rifle with different stats may perform relative to the AK. Maybe because it's an iconic weapon that anyone who has ever watched an action movie or played an FPS will recognize. There's a load of reasons to include the stats, even if you don't have a lot of reasons to personally use them in your game.
Justin Walker
No one in any conflict zone outside of central Africa is going to be using a muzzle loading rifle in 2017, nevermind in 2070.
Jordan Flores
Sweet baby Jesus, read negro. The post you replied to was in reference to the AK, AR, and 1911 stat blocks. The statement about the muzzle loader went something like this.
>DURR, PEOPLE STILL USE A 130 YEAR OLD GUN IN 2070, THAT DUMB >People still use guns that were designed some 300 years ago >BUT NOT IN COMBAT >here's a bunch of reasons why you would include a stat block that aren't combat >NO ONE WOULD USE A MUZZLE LOADER IN COMBAT! In short, no fucking kidding. Try again.
Dominic Lewis
Yes because a muzzle loader is a good frame of reference, because most people know the power of that. Even then, it's not helping to establish a setting that's supposed to be all advanced when you're encouraging people to run around with rifles from the cold war.
David Cox
>it's not helping to establish a setting that's supposed to be all advanced Which setting would that be?
Shadowrun is supposed to be cyberpunk - high tech, low life. The corporations have their glittering clean towers for the elite to live in, and bleeding edge weapons / gear to boot, but down on the ground and in the muck most runners make do with their refuse and discards.
Tyler Stewart
>high tech That means you have high tech, but live a low life you idiot. All the streetscum carry around polymer pistols, sure, but they're still "high tech" new weapons.
Camden Morgan
Comparatively high tech to us, moron. Not to what constitutes high tech in the setting.
Hunter Edwards
Yes, because poor people nowadays run around with Hotchkiss MGs and Steyr bolt actions.
Poor people, even in Shadowrun, will still buy up the newest guns. Unless you're convinced that cartels have just began to widely adopt the Vickers.
Ryan Watson
>old and "useless" firearms being much easier legally to purchase Less legal troubles sure, but it's kind of difficult to go into any old gun store and buy and SMLE nowadays.
Noah Clark
Poor people will fight with whatever they can get easily and cheaply / reload cheaply.
How many black market underground weapons manufacturers do we have today with old weapon schematics, pumping out Hotchkiss MGs and Steyr bolt actions?
Jayden Harris
>How many black market underground weapons manufacturers do we have today with old weapon schematics, pumping out Hotchkiss MGs and Steyr bolt actions? Not many.
Daniel Harris
No, they run around with revolvers from the 40's, chopped up shotguns older than their granpappy, and 100 dollar pawnshop special high points. I know rappers talk a big game, but most of the guns that thugs call "glocks" aren't actually glocks.
Gavin Russell
There are not stats for a muzzle loader, an AK is NOT a muzzle loader. It was hyperbole indicating that old guns still see use, even though you can buy an AK47 RIGHT FUCKING NOW, people still regularly spend the same amount of money, usually upwards of 800 dollars, on quality muzzle loaders.
>CAP & BALL >The weapon is designed to be hand loaded with separate powder, shot, and percussion cap. It takes three Complex Actions to reload each round; stopping before completing the reload activity requires the user to start over again. These weapons are annotated with “(cb)” in their Ammo entry.
Xavier Robinson
>AK47 RIGHT FUCKING NOW No you can't. Actual original Soviet AKs are incredibly rare. The most common thing you see are AKMs, not "Ak47s." Even then, the AKM is slowly losing favour.
Grayson Ortiz
Holy shit, there's a stat block for a muzzle loader! Wtf, I love this game now. I guess Johnson likes to hunt deer when he's not cutting deals with runners? Maybe that ornamental piece next to all of his trophies isn't just a wall hanger after all.
Christian Brooks
>Actual original Soviet AK That's not what anyone is saying.
Robert Parker
>AP - I don't fucking think so
Blake Williams
I just found it amusing that the guy said "usually upwards of 800 dollars", and the nuyen price is 850.
Aiden Ortiz
He said "AK47," which was the NATO designation for the AК, the Soviet-produced rifle that was adopted in 1947. I'm just being accurate here.
Also, most "AKs" that are used now use updated machining techniques, parts, etc, from East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, etc.
Jayden Brown
Not super familiar with game mechanics. Is ap _ poor penetration or good penetration? Because a soft lead ball would be very unlikely to penetrate anything resembling armor.
Thomas Lopez
>I'm just being accurate here Pedantic. You're being pedantic.
Andrew Allen
It would be something like +5 AP or something like that.
Jack Smith
No, because he's saying that something from 1947 is still in widespread use, which it isn't.
Connor Sanders
Compared to what is what I'm trying to ask here, because a .54 caliber lead ball would defeat less armor than a modern .308 load. Remember, that ball is made of almost pure lead. It tends to splash against any metal and has a dificult time getting through any armor.
Ayden Richardson
It hits about as hard as a shotgun or rifle, but with less penetration than the latter, and aiming doesn't help increase the damage the way it would with better firearms.
John Cruz
A rifle has -2 AP, usually. +5 would be bad, as negatives are good. Don't worry I know what you're saying.
Jordan James
I asked this a couple threads ago, but either no one saw, or no one cared, and the former makes me feel better, so I'm pretending it was that.
Can personas be seen from AR? Can a host be accessed by anyone, or do they need permission? How does one hack their way onto a host? Just by getting a mark? What happens if a decker is in AR, and triggers IC? Does it just brick his deck and shut off?
Ethan Lee
When was War Dogs set?
Luis Hall
AKMs. Again, 47s were not produced long enough to really have staying power in modern day. Also, AKMs went through like, three revisions, and I believe it was either the second or third that was the most common for export.
Ryder Edwards
>Can personas be seen from AR? Yes.
>What happens if a decker is in AR, and triggers IC? Does it just brick his deck and shut off? Yes. You take no biofeedback damage while sticking to AR.
>Can a host be accessed by anyone, or do they need permission? How does one hack their way onto a host? Just by getting a mark? You can access the Host (as in entering a building) just by a mark. If you want to modify the Host itself (and not just something it 'contains') that's impossible with mere marks.
Once a Dawkin's operative, the years of manipulating others drove him insane and now he's a clown on the streets.
Asher Murphy
>>Can personas be seen from AR? >Yes. How does that work? Does it overlay the persona over the person? Or just leave a small version of it next to them in AR? Or is that sorta just up to the GM?
Leo Powell
Icons appearing in other Matrix user's AR/VR vision. While you can backtrack a user's physical location thanks to their persona, the two are not bound together.
Brandon Cox
> Social Adept > Dawkin's member > Does missions to drive people into suicide > As a clown > No one believes him because he's also an infiltration specialist with FASHION spell so he just changes his appearance when people walk in. > YOU CAN'T ESCAPE BINKY > HE'S ALWAYS THERE
Represent the people coming to him for help with Dependent and the Lifestyle option that has people crashing at his place.
Represent the people, in turn, providing for him with a Trust Fund - as long as he stays in the good graces of his people (rather than in the good graces of the law) he'll be provided for, so that he can provide for them.
Connor Garcia
>People still use ARs in 2078? AR means 'assault rifle' when people are talking about tabletop/vidya, gun-autist.
Zachary Powell
> Cream Pies > DMSO > Illegal strength irritants > Throw them at the target and he breaks out in the worst throes of itchiness he has ever experienced.
> Chase down a go-ganger in a miniclown car > Honk horn as you pass before unloading the oilslick sprayer with the scent of vanilla.
> Throw popsicles at people > They are alchemical lynchpins > When they hit someone they give them brainfreeze.
> In hand-to-hand combat > Use the flower to spray water on someone. > It's actually just water, and that makes it all the more annoying.
> Prepare balloons for possession by spirits. > Make balloon animals in combat. > They are all actually force 1 beast spirits that yip and bark VERY loudly around the opponent's heels. > If they are popped they release stink gas that was used to blow them up.
> Sneak into an executive office > Switch out their expensive stash of cookies with lookalikes cut from dog biscuits > The taste just won't wash away.
> Enchant a whoopie cushion to disintegrate when it is deflated > Fill it with a noxious gas like the balloon animals > Sneak it into a board meeting
> Find a corporate snatch van > Rewire it so that its smart-paint activates its horn > Reprogram the horn to be an ice-cream truck jingle that won't turn off after being activated.
Jonathan Reyes
sauce?
Chase Brown
My current character has a pair of tricked out burst fire pistols. Nothing special. My previous character had like, a bazillion nuyen invested into a single flamethrower. That one he only had one of because my GM ruled extended magazine 2 meant he had a backpack fuel tank, so obviously he just had the one.
Adrian Myers
No they fucking don't, brainlet. Maybe I should start calling shadow run a board game while you call any magazine fed rifle an "AR".
Jaxon Lewis
Did you learn that playing call of duty: bad company on your Nintendo 360?
Ryder Hill
Seriously? This is the hill you've decided to die on? Pedantically refusing to accept that other people mean 'assault rifle' when they type things like 'machine pistols, SMGs, and ARs?'
That's pathetic.
Carson James
...
Thomas Cooper
AR is an acronym for assault rifle. Stop with your American "Lol Assault Rifle isn't a real term" bullshit. Your legal definitions are retarded enough without you forcing everyone else to say "SBR" and shit like that.
James Martin
What's the deadliest character you've ever played?
Nicholas Brown
A functionally-indestructible armor-tank Street Samurai who used an unscoped APDS sniper rifle as his close quarters weapon.
Mason Davis
If I have rank 3 muscle replacements on my character and then get partial cyberlegs, I still need to pay a bunch on making those cyberlegs better right? I'll be rolling the Cyber-legs attribute when I make a running roll?
Christopher Ward
Yes. But why get muscle replacement in the first place? It sucks. Either get cyberlimbs or get the bioware.
John Phillips
How does it suck? It's much cheaper than any alternative that isn't magic and gives me +3 strength and agility.
Eli Price
Bioware > Cyberware prove me wrong. Protip: you can't.
Luis Peterson
It fucking annihilates your Essence. It's not worth it.
Sebastian Reed
Not as much as 4 cyberlimbs, and I can't afford the bioware versions with all the rest of the gear I need.
Lincoln Jackson
To be fair, totally selling out your very soul for just that bit of an extra edge over the competition is *very* cyberpunk.
Blake Powell
No, since running would use the whole leg and you use the main body stats not partial limbs. You only use partial limb stats for things that involve only that limb.
Jeremiah Jones
4e at least had one in its "Contacts and Adventures" booklet if 5e didn't put it yet, made look into it?
Ian Murphy
Felons
Austin Stewart
You won't have room for your Initiative augs and the Muscle Replacements. All you need is Toner anyways, unless you want to go into a melee build.
What's your Resources Priority? If it's not A, you're doing it wrong.
Cameron Bell
Cyberware provides you bigger mechanical bonuses, costs less nuyen, and provides unique utility options, but comes with a bigger Essence cost. Bioware costs less Essence and is stealthier, but it costs way more dosh and doesn't provide as potent of raw bonuses.
Which option is more preferable depends on what you're trying to do with it.
Logan Morgan
Need strength for running and climbing. Resources is A but being a fancy face and infiltrator has eaten my cash. I'm going to have to seriously review the stuff I've wishlisted here though. 3/4 essence on just strength and agility before things like cyber eyes and tailored pheremones and radar and attention coprocessor and retractible climbing claws and fancy clothes and a car...
You see what I mean, I'm going to have to go through from scratch and sort this out.
Nathaniel Wilson
Skimmers in cyberfeet/partial cyberlegs upping you base speed willl do more for you than a few extra dice for running rolls. For climbing just get a climbing kit or a grappling gun or just take the fucking stairs. Let the Sam be the Sam, you focus on being a face/infiltrator.
Luis Cox
I'm sorry, I should have said 'B&E specialist' rather than 'infiltrator'. The concept is a trust-fund kid who lost their parents to savage corporate shit and became a cat burglar and eventually a Shadowrunner.
