>What are you playing / looking forward to playing soon?

I swear I'm going to get my group to play "Hit-Z-Road", "The Arrival", and "A Handful of Stars" all in one day to complete a 'Martin Wallace Tri-fecta'.

>What's on your wish list / buy soon list?

Kemet, Three Kingdoms, multiple small expansions, Photosynthesis....

>Backing / waiting on anything from KS?

Waiting on:

OGRE Minis (soon-ish...)
Exodus Expansion (Space 4x)
Empires of the Void II (Moar! Space 4x)
Helionox (Deck Builder)

Otherwise I've taken a break from kick starting anything new unless it really really catches my eye.

>What are you playing / looking forward to playing soon?
Recently the gaming group has been a little busy, so I'm mostly playing with the kids I work with at the day care. They love A la Carte, Rhino Hero Super Battle and Ghost fightin' treasure hunters.

>What's on your wish list / buy soon list?
Preordered Champions of Midgard (in french, hence the preorder) last week. Cant think of anything else I need right now.

>Backing / waiting on anything from KS?
Oh shit so much stuff, I'm currently backing Resident Evil 2, but I'm waiting on Shadows of Brimstone Wave2, the expansions for Camp Grizzly, Shadows of Brimstone Forbidden Fortress, Siege of the Citadel, Darklight : Memento Mori, Terminator and The Walking Dead : No Sanctuary

>looking forward to playing
I'd love to get Pitchcar Mini, Crush n' Rush, Forbidden Stars, and Mage Knight to the table (I'll play MK solo but I need to find time to pull it out and learn)

>wishlist/buylist
I spent a good bit last week so I'm set for a while I think. I'm trying to buy a copy of Wiz-War off bgg but right now I'm waiting in the seller to confirm my order. I've been waiting for four days now

>backing/waiting on KS
I backed pic related because I really want a mech fighting game that isn't shit (will take recommendations on other games if anyone has any) and Aegis just caught my eye

>What are you playing / looking forward to playing soon?
Looking to get another couple plays of Fate of the Elder Gods in on future game nights, and maybe finally give Shogun a whirl.
>What's on your wish list / buy soon list?
Ghost Stories is probably the big one. Does anyone have wisdom on the expansions there?
>Backing / waiting on anything from KS?
Tavern Masters will probably be fulfilling soon. I'm glad I only took the basic pledge though because the nearly a year of lag has let me wise up and see that it's probably going to be fairly mediocre. Not bad, considering I have some really softcore gamers in my group, but mediocre.

Also waiting on KDM 1.5, Groves, and Argent: the Consortium, the latter two of which will be fairly long waits while KDM should start the long fulfillment process in the next couple of months at least. I pretty much know KDM is going to be good as I already have 1.0, and while groves was a bit speculative I also bought in at the basic level which being 35 bucks is on the cheaper end for a board game these days. Argent was more of a gamble/speculation but it is a second edition when the 1st seems fairly well regarded.

You are a fucking gay

>What are you playing / looking forward to playing soon?
Voyages of Marco Polo
>What's on your wish list / buy soon list?
Maybe Century: Spice Road
>Backing / waiting on anything from KS?
No. I'm not an idiot. A good game will usually get published without needing to exploit low self-control gamers for financial investments

No he isn't, he's absolutely right.

Quick question. What game is this?

Wow another member of the gay club

Is Twilight Struggle worth it? From what I saw the gameplay doesn't seem too impressive or engaging.

Suggest me games like The Duke lads. I want something related to this because I really enjoy it. It's such a versatile game.

It's a box of extras/stretch goals from the SDE: Forgotten King kickstarter.

Sorry user, you're on the wrong site, the gay anonymous buttsex matchmaking site isn't here.

Yea, you obviously know where it is

Of course I do, it's on the ass end of the Internet.

I didn't ask for your address, faggot

The mechanics aren't massively deep, TS is more about strategy within each game and adjusting to your opponent. Whether that's "worth it" really depends if you want a heavy thinking 2-3hr two player game. Personally find 1960 to be a better option, it's a similar CDG in half the time. The new GMT printing looks fantastic too, though some people did enjoy the Z-Man edition board looking like a messy desk

And I didn't give it. Wouldn't want to be doxed by somebody cruising for buttsex partners on the Internet, after all!

>And I didn't give it.
Suuuure you didn't

>the gaming group has been a little busy, so I'm mostly playing with the kids I work with at the day care

Didn't you read the last thread? Kids can not play games.

> wake up
> check bbg
> OP is scrabble
> thread is these two fags

whelp see you in a week bgg

>Kids can not play games.
Depends on the game.

Games like what? Abstracts?
Are you familiar with GIPF project games? Hive? Tigris&Euphrates? Shogi? As for chess variants, my favourite is Arimaa, it's chess with AP points.

>What are you playing / looking forward to playing soon?
Unsure, played a load of stuff this weekend. Rebellion, Combat Commander, Watson & Holmes, Mafia de Cuba, Kemet, Santorini. In a couple days I'll be itching for SOMETHING though.

>What's on your wish list / buy soon list?
Uh. . . Maybe the sheriff of nottingham expansion? Unsure, it hasn't hit the table in a while. Not much else on my radar.

>Backing / waiting on anything from KS?
TI4, Clash of Steel, Entropy, Giga Robo, GKR.
The last one may very well be going straight to eBay.

Aegis seemed interesting, but with Giga Robo and GKR in the pipe I couldn't make myself go in for it. Eagerly awaiting reviews, though.

I mean, The Jarl would be the closest possible recommendation. Past that, Onitama isn't too far off.

I missed out on Giga Robo and GKR but I'm really interested in how Giga Robo turns out

Just following the builds some people have come up with on BGG has been really interesting, it's got a load of content and options. Whether the strategy ends up elevating it above being a dice-chucker is still a little up in the air, but I'm hopeful as hell.

Yeah, I'm going to need the source of this. For.....research purposes you understand.

>no one else reads the rules
>treat me like an encyclopedia
>get pissy with me if I check the rules mid game
>get even pissier if I make a mistake
I'd stop playing with them, but it's my family

That's rough user

How do I gut gud at Dominion, bros?

>playing Dominion when this exists

So lads, I want to buy a game and I can't decide which one.

Hive
Jaipur
Lost Cities
Battle Lines
Onitama

These are some simple game and as I don't own any more complex what is a good start for a more complex game? Terra Mystica?

Goddamn every time I see that I think how well it would sell if they'd just give up on this appealing to weebs with imports and just slap Disney princesses on it

If people can't look beyond art style (and it's not even ugly) to play a great game, then they don't deserve it.

>appealing to weebs with imports
it's not "appealing to weebs" when it's the original fucking game.

It's appealing to weebs who wanted the game brought over without changes (and no it's not ugly). There's plenty of imports that get reskinned for the western markets, because publishers want to make money, this is a case where they could've made more and chose not to. By choosing to retain the original art they're appealing to those who wanted the anime imagery.

I'm not arguing that people should only look at the art, that's how we end up with a barebones game like Coup selling far more than it would if it was half a poker deck and a rulesheet. It's also how really good abstracts like Fealty get ignored; though that might also be Asmadi, they don't seem to promote well.

I am arguing that if you want max exposure it's a whole lot easier with a theme/art that appeals to the wider audience. This is a really good game, it could destroy Dominion and it won't, because they didn't go for mass appeal. That's a shame, but hey I'll still play it; I like the art.

Play for the speed your deck is giving you. If you can't draw for shit, build your deck out if early cards and end the game before anyone else buys a victory card by emptying supply piles.

If your deck blesses you, surge upwards as best you can

Don't have one and wish for the other

how many players?
time of play?
also you can play jaipur at boardgamearena, there's a free app for Hive, and you can PnP the others

There's nothing stopping them from releasing a mass appeal version after the original version when it's successful enough

playing that when this exists

>Coup
Speaking of, I really wanted to buy it but the only version available in my slavland is some kinda retarded imperial Russia reskin. Instead just PnP'd a Dune theme for free, their loss.

True but that assumes that it sells enough to convince them to do it, and someone other than Japanime games picks up the distribution.

I really didn't want to buy it but ended up with a set of alt art cards in a copy of The Resistance expansion I picked up the other day. Now I'm wondering if it's even worth anything to people who like the game

>he's never played Heart of Crown
>thinks that's better
keep your ignorance to yourself

See that's the trouble. I could use some good deckbuilders in my collection but I will not touch these with a 10 foot barge pole because of the graphics.

That's your problem, not ours. We're enjoying a legitimately great game.
I personally have no problem enjoying different games with different art styles as long as they're all good. It's weird to me that people have this problem.

So Gloomhaven got delayed more, since the guy wants to ship everyone equally in time and there is still no news of when KD:M will start shipping.
Please hold me /bgg/ it hurts playing the waiting game.

I have no sympathy for subhumans who support Kickstarter

Does it helps that I have only backed those two games since they are known to have delivered? Also they are good.

kickstarter is the only way a game like KD:M could have been made.

i am thankful for kickstarter even if 90% is shit

There are plenty of good deckbuilding options out there that don't have an art focus on little girls, or make normal people cringe when you pull them out

I'm sort of in the same boat. Our group has Dominion (and various expansions) and Puzzlestrike (sort of a deckbuilder, maybe? Think it's gotten some flak here but idk), but I'm thinking of getting pic related. It differs a bit from other deck builders (that I know of) as you get to build your hand from all your available cards at the start of every round, rather than drawing your hand from an available cards deck. Been asking about it here a little but unfortunately no one seems to have played it.

I automatically tune out that shit

Btw I forgot Evil Dead for the kickstarters I'm waiting on.

Heart of crown seems minimal cringe compared to Tanto. Surprisingly, most 'normal' people (at least who would be within LoS of a board game) don't give a crap about weebshit. They don't like it, but you have to know something to really hate it like a faction of Veeky Forums claims to. Tanto adds a lewd-ish layer for extra "hard to introduce to randoms". "Players are princesses trying to build their kingdoms" is more accessible than "Players are lords hiring (sometimes scantily clad) maids for their manor"

Look closely at your Kingdom and identify if there are some sort of elements like:

-An easy and fast way to thindeck ie Chapel, Steward, anything that can trash at least 2 cardf per play
-Attacks that heavily incapacitate your opponent while giving you a boon ie Witch, Mountebank, Soothsayer
-Milder incapacitating attacks like Militia or Oracle or idk there are dozens of them
-Cards that together enable you to build a draw engine like Village+Smithy at the least, or any variation thereof
-General must-buys like Market, Laboratory, Hunting Party, Caravan, yes most of them cost 5+
-Strong terminals you ideally want to have in your deck multiple copies of without risking drawing them together often, like terminal attacks, Wharf, Bridge, Goons (which is not mainly played for its attack, although it's annoying in the right deck)
-Alternatives to scoring with Province/Colony; this means alternate VP cards, mostly, and a Kingdom that enables their particular way of scoring, for example a Gardens deck with a lot of cheap cantrips that you will fill your deck with without slowing it down

Generally you want to learn how those elements work together, and against each other, and watch what of those the opponent implements. For example, deck filling attacks aren't so good against a Chapel deck, but they might slow down a Steward one and are absolutely killer against draw engine decks. Draw engine decks must be built quickly before they lost to Big Money + 2 or three terminal decks, which is not always possible. You also have to identify correctly the win condition for the gamne: msot of the times it will be the usual Province/Colony race, but sometimes running piles and Duchies will be your best option due to the decks being garbage, other times you can cheaply gain a lot of alternative scoring cards while your oppo struggles to finish the Province pile by themselves.

Most of the times, if the Kingdom doesn't enable a significant engine build, going for money is never a bad option. Always buy Platinum; almost always buy Gold. The singular exception to these rules is Grand Market.

>market
>strong
It's a cantrip copper. It's not a bad card, but it's certainly not a must buy.

The emphasis was more on kids in a social circle made for adults by adults and only frequented by adults, playing games which arguably are not very appropriate for kids, as a cheap substitute for their parents taking their kids that they might actually find engaging and enjoyable.
But keep thinking Veeky Forums is just a bunch of misanthropist neckbeards.

Being a cantrip copper without drawbacks is not bad at all and the +Buy is just icing on the cake if you can use it.
It can and should be passed for other strong $5, but most of those cards are terminal - which means if you are not engining you want two, three of them at most in your deck, and the rest is Markets, unless there's shit like Laboratory or Hunting Party at $5.

>Puzzle Strike

I got a lot of shit here every time I recommend it, not for the quality of the game (which honestly I never saw commented on) but because of its author- producer's abominable business practices.

I honestly couldn't care less about those, as I said I stole my copy and didn't pay a cent to Sirlin. Puzzle Strike is legitimately a great game. You think I'm shilling? Buy it used, download the PĂ©rint&Play copy from torrent, do whatever you like.

Eh, it's not near as awful as it used to be; you can get the game on CSI for a decent discount now instead of dealing with just his store or his amazon storefront

Well..2 players and it doesn't matter how long it will take. I tried Hive and I kinda want it.

>How do I gut gud at Dominion, bros?
Only ever buy a province, a gold or a silver, depending on how much money you have in your hand. The only exception is when you have 4 or 5 gold, then you can buy a special card if you want. But don't buy too many, usually four or five of them is enough.

Hive is fantastic. I'd recommend the pocket version because the pieces are still a good size but it also comes with two of the three expansions

>If people can't look beyond art style (and it's not even ugly) to play a great game, then they don't deserve it.
I play mostly with my son and/or my sister. No, I won't play a game with pictures of animu girls flashing their cooch, not even if it's great.

show me a single picture in Heart of Crown where what you described is actually shown

I was actually talking about the other weeb card game, but you get my point.

>complains about anime girl flashing her cooch
>can't find and show anything even close to it
No I don't get your point.

But it does have a drawback. The drawback is that you spent a turn buying it instead of something else. Like one of those aforementioned terminals. Or a silver, which won't be drawn dead by your Smithy.

Are you trolling? Please stop.

Do you even know what a "cooch" is?

It's that bit making Phyllis Lumley's thong bulge out.

Still no flashing there
he probably doesn't know what "flashing" actually is and is desperate to find samples to justify his moral standpoint with safeguarding his son's mind against evil evil drawings of pretty girls. I don't even know what the deal is with his sister

>Still no flashing there
Quick question, have you ever actually had sex? Do you actually know which bits go where?

>moral standpoint
Not wanting to show creepy foreveraloner masturbation pics to my family isn't a "moral standpoint", it's just basic hygiene.

Quick question, do you ACTUALLY know what flashing is? You really shouldn't be using words you don't know the meaning of and trying to make an argument around it.
>Not wanting to show creepy foreveraloner masturbation pics to my family isn't a "moral standpoint", it's just basic hygiene.
If you think those are masturbation pics, then that says alot about you.

>Not wanting to show creepy foreveraloner masturbation pics to my family isn't a "moral standpoint", it's just basic hygiene.

Implying your son is not furiously masturbating to pics of anime girls with their cooch completely exposed. Or even worse, to futanary.

I wouldn't be surprised if his son grows up to be gay, given how much he wants to deny his son to develop a sexual attraction to the opposite sex.

>Quick question, do you ACTUALLY know what flashing is?
Yes I do. Quick question, are you always a nitpicking autist, or is this just your jimmies being rustled because I called you out on masturbating to boardgame art?

Or maybe you're from the Japanese government and you *actually* believe that it isn't nudity or porn if you put that tiny little black bar over the girl's interesting nether bits?

Are you daft? I'm not gonna be showing my family weeb masturbation pics because I don't want to look like I'm part of the weeb masturbator community, not because my family never saw cartoon smut.

This will blow your mind: your 2D waifus aren't *actually* the opposite sex.

Hive suffers from a high draw% syndrome, especially if you play with Pillbug that cockblocks everything

explain further.

lets say just the base game and then explain why pillbug is a dick

It's not nitpicking when someone calls you out on COMPLETELY getting the meaning of a word WRONG and basing your argument around it, you fucking dumbass.

Good job being this stupid, I can see this early on that your son is gonna grow to become a socially inept fuck-up with someone like you raising him. Good luck with that. Thank you for confirming your stupidity. I can safely say now that I have no more time to waste arguing with your ignorant ass. LOL

You're right. Sometimes they're the same sex

> Hive suffers from a high draw% syndrome
Not really: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1028923/boardspacenet-hive-statistics

"Draws happen in 4.4% of all games."

But note also: "Boardspace.net made a rule change some years ago which disallowed Queen-Queen openings (which should reduce draws)."

This rule isn't in the rulebook you get when you buy the game but is standard for all online play, as far as I know.

No, they're deranged fantasies of some older creepy Japanese guy. So you're actually masturbating to an ugly Japanese dude, congratulations.

Let me explain something to the foreveralone sexless like you: even if her cooch is technically covered by a tiny semi-transparent strip of cloth, it's still flashing. It's the intent that matters, not the technicalities of Japanese anti-porn legislation.

Also, lay off the one-eyed snake, it's making you fat and creepy to girls.

Any strong opinions on 7th continent?

I'd be wait till all the hype dies down and see where the game actually ends up.

>ackshually, she's not flashing her cooch. She's got a thin strip of cloth stretched so tight over it that you can see the bulge of her labia, but she's not actually exposed
>And this one's just wearing a bra that barely covers her head-sized breasts, no cooch there
You must be very proud of your triumph here.

It looks completely fantastic. I'm eagerly waiting to see if it ends up living up to that, or hoping someone I know buys it so I can try it out.

Any impressions on Cerebria on KS, from the authors of Trickerion and... I don't know, something else?

Did any of you read the rules, do you think it wil be something different, or just another Euro economy/action manager with a nice coat of brilliant art?

Can't speak for online as I only played Hive with people live, maybe being familiar with people and their play styles has it's impact. I'm also assuming the vast majority of these recorded games used the base set, while mosquito and pillbug tend to drag the games out for much longer and allow the queen to slip away from seemingly sure checkmates.

There's actually a thread on BGG right now where the Hive Champion is asking question. Maybe you guys can ask him how he plays around the possibility of a draw. He likes to play with all the expansions in the game though, since he says they complete it.

is answering questions*

Sorry

Based on their previous two, they've put some really good designs out there. I think the area control with emotion powers (some of them sound reallllllly good) premise is pretty solid but I'm going to hold off just until I can get around to watching the playthrough video. Honestly though I can't imagine there'll be anything that would result in my not pledging.

>5+ player mode locked behind a $400,000 stretch goal

Stretch goals are the true cancer of Kikestarter imho. I think stretch goals should only unlock stuff with pure production value, like painted pieces, glossier finish, wooden tokens instead of cardboard and the like. Instead... "Hey we have a cool idea to expand upon the core rules, we just need enough money to let you know :D"

>I think stretch goals should only unlock stuff with pure production value
>5+ player mode
>extra player pieces, board pieces and cards
>no extra production value

Just get the fuck out. Don't even bother replying, straight up go and fuck off.

So you have a link to the thread? I'm interested in that

*Do

I'm retarded

I agree with . More playing pieces does increase the cost of production of a game, so I can understand making it a stretch goal. There's always a chance that the stretch goal amount is way too high for what it adds but that's a case by case thing

>REEEEE Kickstarter

I'm just going to use this as a jumping off point for a discussion of Kickstarter. Because, surprise, you can actually use it without suffering mayhem, heartbreak, or despair. Just think rationally for ten minutes before you back something. Do some reading, do some research, and ask yourself a few questions (On a scale of 1 to 10 if you're an autist)...

>"How likely is it this will actually be as good as the pitch says?"
If you answered a low likelihood (say, less than 5/10) you can probably stop right now, it's not worth it
>"How likely is it that the project delivers AT ALL?"
Again, if the project's projected costs seem low and you don't have a reason to believe they can pull it off, to the point where you are seriously considering the "Spend money, get nothing" scenario as a plausible occurrence, you should probably not fuck with it.
>"How much am I going to regret it if this goes sour?"
It's much less uncomfortable to lose a 30 or 50 dollar pledge than a 200+ dollar pledge so you probably want to look for better answers to the first two questions if this one is high.
>"If I don't pledge, and everything goes well, how much do I lose?"
If you suspect something is going to be limited run, or not make it to retail, or be massively more expensive at retail you should probably lower the "Pledge" versus "Don't Pledge" threshold a little, since the opportunity cost would be high.

Maybe I'm the odd man out in not yet getting really burned by Kickstarter, but it is quite possible. Just don't pledge to stupid shit or anything that seems too good to be true, because it's probably stupid or too good to be true.

I'm not saying that adding player pieces has no production value, you fucking mongoloid, I'm saying the idea itself shouldn't be locked behind a shekels barrier but isntead made available otherwise. If the game can be made to work iwth a 5-6 player mode, then introduce that mode right from the start, people will be happy to pay the base box a little more... People with more than three friends, that is, I odn't know if you can relate. Or release it as an expansion, for example it would have been fine if trhis was an expansion add-on unlocked now with reaching this goal and stil lavailable for retail later.

But no, 5-6 players mode is only uinlockable by giving them their jew gold right now, and it's an exclusive so if we miss it we can go fuck ourselves.

See the answer here but without the mongoloid and hinting at lack of social skills part because you actually managed to argue with me without telling me to fuck off.
