Thread Question: What makes you (or your opponents) feel absolutley unclean to be hit by? To use?

The fact that Derevi is not banned infuriates me to no end.

how does derevi abuse stasis on turn 3?

how does derevi abuse stasis at all? dont you need repeatable untap that doesnt cost any tapping to produce, like Teferi. teferi seems perfect for stasis

Extra turns generally make me feel dirty, triply so when it's more than one. I generally avoid those sort of effects altogether unless I'm Commandeering or reverberating an opponent's effect.

I've actually had a problem like this recently. I built a Taigam, Ojutai Master deck when he first got leaked and made a concerted effort to not put very many extra turn spells, instead going for cantrips. But I consistently find myself going for extra turns so I can get more mana for tutors and making sure I get Reservoir out on the field (general idea is to gain fuckloads of life off of Reservoir or Mind's Desire off the deep end). Should I not feel bad about it even though other people aren't playing? I lost a game just today after intentionally staying away from Time Stretch when tutoring after I took five turns off of Walk the Aeons, Rebound and copying with Echo Mage earlier.

Rotation is coming up this Friday, what are some good cards to pick up? I'm hitting myself I didn't pick up a playset of Liliana Last Hope that were going for $17 each four days ago. Think it'll go below $25? Even snapcaster was only $10 after it rotated.

SOI Jace, Selfless Spirit, Zombie shit in general and Thalia's Lancers.

>concerted effort to not put too many extra turns in deck
>puts time stretch and walk the aeons in deck

?? im so confused, just put time warp in and be done with it

and the other half is idk why you're apologizing for playing extra turns, just win the game ffs, its blue's version of "i swing for a bunch of damage you're dead". instead you say "i take a bunch of turns and bury you all in cards"

a form of infinite in any way, the first time I ever made infinite mana and the fun time I was having with all my friends just ended because of that and everyone went home I felt like shit

now I make it my job to keep the fun going, if you play combo or I know you have an infinite youre getting all my hate while timmy casts a bolas or something without me caring

Each of those is part of a 4-card infinite turn combo in case of a table full of control. I make an effort to put one alternate wincon in every deck, usually a jank infinite of some sort. I mostly just wanna cast a fuckton of spells and draw cards, and cantrips are fun while fueling Aetherflux, Metallurgic Summonings or Mind's Desire.

>What makes you (or your opponents) feel absolutley unclean to be hit by?

Guy at my LGS plays with banned cards like Yawgmoth's Will and Primeval Titan and knows their banned and why they're banned. Once I had the mana to cast restoration angel and bring kiki-jiki out with green sun's zenith he went fucking ballistic even though it was his own fault for tapping out all his blue mana.

To this day he refuses to play commander with me and I'm glad honestly.

>What makes you (or your opponents) feel absolutley unclean to be hit by? To use?
basically any two card infinite

also you spelt absolutely wrong you dumb asshole

There are so many infinite combo possibilities in magic that blindly hating all of them is stupid.

Food Chain Prossh? Yeah, that player should be focused down asap. Janky infinites that require a lot of pieces shouldn't be focused if there are bigger threats. If you choose to ignore threatening ramp cards because you know that one player has a 3+ card infinite combo in their deck, you're assessing threats poorly and playing EDH poorly.

>that three card combo of tooth n nail + deadeye + palinchron is a janky combo cause its 3 cards

fuck you, if youre trying to go infinite im going to stop you even if it means im not winning

Thread Question: Darevi. I don't think she's op and have no problem facing of against those decks, I just find it really annoying how her entire gimmick is that she just avoids commander tax. It's frustrating playing against a deck reliant on it's commander and know removing it just isn't going to matter much.

Maybe he doesn't want to play with you because you constantly call cards by the wrong name :^}

I agree. What isn't broken about an eternal 4cmc commander?

Oh wow user I accidentally called Yawgmoth's Bargain Yawgmoth's Will crucify me upon a cross.

everyone in my group gets pissy when an annihilator eldrazi hits the field. not because they're too good, just because making those choices feels bad.

Yawg Will is legal. Yawg Bargain is banned.

I don't like when you sit down for a game against decks of a known power level and choose to play a tier 0 deck. I think playing EDH competitively is fine, but there's no point in winning on turn 3 against decks that can't realistically stop you from doing so.

I also don't like people who think that any combo deck is tier 0.

You also called chord of calling green sun's zenith, now carry that damn cross to calvary hill

>You also called chord of calling green sun's zenith

Except I didn't you autist. I brought Kiki-Jiki out with Green Sun.

noob here

if a creature is both black and green, does it recieve a +2/+2 ?

Yes.

>Thread Question

Getting killed by my own commander 3 times in a row

>brought Kiki-Jiki out with Green Sun.

Then you're an even bigger moron.

>Search your library for a green creature card.
Ah, so you called it by the right name, you just cheated.

>Tooth and Nail
Is basically a one card combo, and you know it. That's not the kind of thing that I'm talking about.

Honestly, I'm not even that concerned about the card - if you can resolve a 9 mana sorcery and fight through 2-4 other players' instant speed disruption, you deserve to win.

>im going to stop you even if it means im not winning

you sound like an irrational, vindictive Magic player. I hope that changes for your opponents' sake and for yours.

This is the only card I really feel that guilty about using, ever since I took Contamination out of my Meren deck.

Used against me?
Timesifter.
That thing is unconscionable.

Maybe he meant genwave? I've made that mistake before bc of the x cost

pls no bully, maybe he is colorblind and dysexic, you dont make fun of people In wheelchairs do you?

I got my Meren stolen from me and had no way to kill it because precon. It felt really, really bad.

am i not allowed to make fun of cripples now?

>TQ
Anything that locks someone out of the game, effectively permanently. Iona, stax effects and winter orb, infinite turns, etc. One shot effects that cripple are fine, like wraths against tokens or vandal blast against voltron. But RiP when you play sherei is the fucking worst and outside of someone else dealing with it in the next 2-3 turns, you just lose. Its like mentioned, if they have no chance, why bother.

no, its 2017, only mental handicaps are targetable now

I'm new to Magic and some of my friends are telling me that Commander is way more relaxed and "for fun".

They're lying, right?

>thread question
Chaos decks.

Sorry, I don't want to sit through a game where you cast Scrambleverse with Eye of the Storm out. My time is more valuable than that. And no, I'm not going to listen to you when you beg not to be attacked because "your deck doesn't do anything."

if that's the way they play it then yeah, it can be. it really depends on who you're playing with.

but yeah the format can be pretty fun and laid back if you've got a good group.

Thoughts on this planeswalker?

5 mana vindicate

Commander can be the most relaxed and fun format if you have a group of people that you know and like with roughly the same deck power level.

It can also be the shittiest format since it attracts the saltiest players. Also, the political aspect is cool, but most people confuse whining for politics.

>implying i don't

edh is the most fun because of the size of the cardpool, legacy is for the elderly, standard is for children, modern is for children with downs

it comes down to the players ultimately, if ou have a bunch of people who play casual and one of your friends brings a super competitive deck to casual nights, take hum outside, tie him to a tree and rape him with a stick, then post it on treefuckers.com

I play her in most decks that can run her, its a catchall removal and can shit out dangerous tokens with stuff like rogues passage out

>those duel decks
Is there any reason why Jace looks like Mads Mikkelsen?

It ultimately boils down to the players. They can be cool, it could turn into family monopoly night of shitflinging and held grudges for weeks.

nope, my groups learned to tone down the cancer or everyone is going to have fun except for them

ezuri took out umbral mantle the the first game I focused him and weve been cool ever since, if he doesnt like it he can find another group mine either follows my rules or has to learn to 1v1 me while other people also have their turns around the table each sneaking out their own threats and since only I have fun doing that its not something that happens more than once

>forcing a player to change their deck because you don't like it
Really doesn't sound that great user. Even that aside, you know there are a million more ways Elves can go infinite right? Staff of Dominance mean anything to you?

>What makes you (or your opponents) feel absolutley unclean to be hit by?
Skullbriar+Ordeal of Nylea. The salt is real.

>To use?
For whatever reason I can't stand using foils. Drives me nuts and grinds my gears. It also hurts to know that I'll probably never get to use any of the partner commanders.

That sounds almost as retarded as you do.

I didnt say he should change it, its his choice if he has an infinite or not
and its my choice to clear his board, hand, and keep ezuri from staying in play

Claims no to diddle children and also is a serial killer.

No matter your mental hoops, this still reads like "Player has access to an infinite that I don't approve of. I won't stand for this" as you target exclusively him because of it. Makes you seem autistic, man. Different people like to play differently.

I like to keep games going, thats how I have fun and since someone is trying to end my fun im not going to let them

its that simple, I dont hate out all combos just infinites, I know my group gets tired of the old "allright I have infinite mana here and capsize in my hand" episode so theyd rather stop playing with that guy over me

They've been wanting to make a MtG Movie for forever, so maybe they just wanted to test the waters for casting.

Useing pic related to vomit my whole deck on the table allways makes me feel like I did something bad.

Guys, I think I might give up on Mairsil. Wheel of Fortune is now 80 dollars. The mana base blows and is impossible to work with. I keep having to cut jank for more tutors and answers.

I don't think I'm gonna get there. I love him. I love the nonsense, but at best it ends up being some sort of soft lock that leaves everyone grumbling at me and at worst, I have a deck full of oddball useless cards that can't be cast.

Just pile the player

>Wheel of Fortune is now 80 dollars

It's vindicate for 5 that can possibly go off twice

Not horrible. Won't ever do anything else though.

Just get a chinaman wheel

It's a fucking meme deck anyway, why not?

>Play Arjun
>Best friend playing Kruphix
>Resolves Emrakul, targets me
>Proceeds to storm off with my deck, killing everyone but himself

Granted, he pulled it off pretty well despite not knowing how storm decks worked and he had a blast so hey.

I think she'd make a cool pirate captain. She's also fun in Golgari tokens. If you have doubling season, just slap her down and make six assassins.

I think it's the mass untapping ability.

The question is, how do you sustainably untap things under Stasis when you'd also need to untap the creatures your untapping things with? The only way it works is if you get vigilance somewhere.

>playing a game at the lgs
>roon blink
>mimeoplasm goodstuff
>meren infect
>olivia 1.0 vampire tribal
>game is going along fine, meren player has about 18 creatures/tokens out
>main phase plays triumph of the hordes
>goes to combat
>play rakdos charm, all creatures deal 1 damage to thier controller
>meren dies
>tables face when including meren

I mean, if nobody else is untapping and your attackers have a clear path then I figure you can just murder them while your Stax pieces keep them tapped down, but I guess vigilance helps.

I'm just guessing anyways, I haven't actually looked at any deck lists.

Hah. Nice.

usually sword of feast and famine on derevi
>attack with big bird
>deals damage
>untap big bird
>untap all lands
>play cards
>save 1 blue to pay for stasis

I always do a Survival of the fittest + living death
Whenever i have access to g/w it's fun

G/B*

You still have to pay for Stasis in that scenario though.

I'll kill you with coin flips

What if it's random and not actually infinite? How does ultra chaos factor in? What about tooth and nail? Seems too narrow to hate out all infinites on principal. I hate out consecrated sphinx and blight steel on principal but all infinites is stupid.

Yes, you will, because if your deck makes the entire game about coin flips I'm going to scoop and go to Subway.

By the time I finish my sandwich and walk back, you might have completed a turn cycle

are chaos decks the ultimate anti-spike tier decks?
I feel like control decks challenge them too much and when they lose they arent discouraged from cancerous behavior but chaos decks make them wanna quit

Does anybody know when online stores start opening boxes in earnest? I wanted to pick up a foil Hostage Taker and there aren't any available on tcg player except the promo.

Nah it'll be pretty normal mostly. Karplusan minotaur goes pretty fast if you just use dice with evens and odds being heads and tails. Throw in some clones and you've got a cute little concept to throw at people. It's actually less annoying than fucking cathars crusade

Well... fuck. Missed I guess.

like 8-10 cards in the set are worth more that the cost of a pack, they would be throwing money away actually opening it for stock and even those prices wont hold, it may be a while, tgen again those stres that do can probably charge a premuim because of the lack of packs opened

What is the worst mono color in edh? Red?

Ixalan has a much better EV than anything in the last couple blocks. You should expect to get around $90 of value from a box, helped along significantly by value commons and uncommons like Opt and Unclaimed Territory, and stores will be getting them a lot cheaper than that.

Say that to my face bitch, see what happens.

white

would be nice if boxes in australia retailed for less than $160, because stores still use US pricing on cards

White by a mile.
Red has an advantage of having multiple powerful individual commanders while the best white can cough up is Sram.

Red at least has some gimmicky stuff, mostly Goblins Go Wide like Kiki, Zada, Krenko, Purph. Mono white's got shitty voltron and tutor for skullclamp.

colorless

I stopped buys cards after mm2 paid $335 for a box and even though I got a goyf, bob. 2 cryptic and 2 nobles I still didnt make back close to what I paid, prices suck here

Colorless is actually similar to Red in the same way that it has incredibly powerful individual commanders. I'd actually expect Great Distortion to do better than a lot of mono white decks.

I've hit someone with an unblockable assasin once. I think i was at like 3 life too. Was a good day.
The games might be longer than 60 card formats but I've found that they're far more entertaining and the variety of outcomes make any deck much more playable. You could play the same commander deck 30 times and as long as it's not some gimmicky deck that relies on the same combo to win than you can never really play the same game twice. As apposed to other formats where you build around a single combo and hope it works out. I honestly think playsets are a god awful waste of money so I hardly play any other format these days.

Mindslaver

All my magic cards got destroyed in the hurricane, any chance you all have some cards you can spare?

Email me if you can spare some cards and I'll tell you my address

you gonna send me bp pics?

wow that sucks, im sorry to hear
I have a few revised copies I can send you
god bless

Damn son.

Pics.

You should be less reliant on flying creatures.

Maybe it's because you cheated by targeting Kiki with GSZ?

I mean that's theoretically not much more than retail on a box in the US (143.64+tax) it's just that nobody charges full retail for a sealed box because that would be dumb
