I AM COMING FOR YOU

What does the third nacelle bring to the table?

Not so fast, grampa.

Exactly how deep space should this mission be? I think we already established it's along the Romulan border, but how far from Federation core territory? How far to the nearest starbase? How long are they expected to be out for at a time if all goes well? Good idea to hash out what any options are if shit goes south, and build the rest of the crew and facilities around that.

More dakka, at least indirectly. Every three nacelle ship we've seen has been a dreadnought or battleship.

>Put /STG/ - Star Trek General in name rather than subject
Oh well maybe next time

Pizza...

Catians and lynxians are underrated

Ugly ducking, comin' though.

It takes some of the load off of the other two nacelles, allowing the ship to stay at higher warp factors for longer. Probably facilitates faster response times to combat zones. That's my hypothesis, anyway.

Extra nacelles in general bring more velocity at the expense of worse efficiency, resulting in increased power drain and needing a heftier power output. Odd numbers of nacelles also have a tendency to create an imbalance if not accounted for, exacerbating the efficiency issues, although IIRC the behind-the-scenes explanation for the Gal-X is that each nacelle has two individual warp coils so it's still balanced because there's six of them.

What the fuck is that?

Have you never seen an oberth? I bet you don't even know what a Howlrunner is.

An Oberth class in the Azure nebula.

>Oberth
Oh so fourth worst ship. Got it now

I couldn't tell if it was a Curry or not

Behold the Veldalan Female

The Kzinti male

I'd say at least 200 light years out. Most of the border close to the galactic plane is mapped fairly well with starbases, patrols, and automated sensor platforms, so I'd say they're at least 50ly up or down the Z axis.
>Chief Navigator Ryoga Hibiki
But seriously, navigation is kind of a lame job for a ship spending most of its time on predefined search patterns, so I'd combine navigator and head of astrometrics into one job. The Nova has an enormous sensor array on the front of the saucer, so astrometrics should be able to read Romulan mattress tags from three sectors away. I'd pick Simon Tarses for that role, since he was already vetted in front of half the admiralty and found not to be a Romulan sympathizer.

DEFEND THIS

This appeared on-screen in TVH and "Unification". It's not like the design is new, just a refinement of an existing, pre-Movie-era one.

So did this.

I bet the Catians did this.

All that really means is that they were added as easter egg references to the canceled Planet of the Titans movie. Yes, technically that means they exist in alpha canon, but it doesn't mean they were ever Starfleet ships despite sharing some design similarities.

Of them, might be salvageable with alterations. I don't care for Discovery's twin torus design for the saucer. Must be a bitch to get around even with the turbolifts.

youtube.com/watch?v=sHeuZ-m1tek

That is what I think of when I see those 8 fucking nacelles.

I know we were still debating about whether or not to put a holodeck in the Sparrow during maintenance prior to its mission, but I got bored and whipped this up.

Forget a bitch to get around in it doesn't make any sense because you literally lose space to put more bulkheads in for rooms.

Isn't the Sparrow a Miranda?

That too.

>computer core next to the bar
Blueshirt sysadmins would love this ship.
Nope, Nova.

Even more fun: Depending on what plans you look at, the only access points are either through the Main Computer Core or a ladder down from Bridge and/or Deck 2

Have they given a reason of the ring sections instead of a saucer? or why the secondary hull is so fuck huge? or why nacelles are rectangles now?

They haven't talked about it at all. In universe or out. As far as I'm aware anyway. Only seen the first 2 episodes.

What a cute little furball.

>twin torus
Look more closely.

Well fuck me. There's three. Just when I thought the design couldn't get any more idiotic.

Completely new to Star Trek tabletop here, what is the best roleplaying game in the TNG-era?

You can't beat it.

Star Trek Adventures, for all eras.

Holodeck could be used by the engineering teams for testing ideas. It's a home made effort and the resolution is pretty bad.

Also allows for a bored crew to still get up to shenanigans whilst having the practical benefits of a holodeck.

Head transporter dude is a Tellerite as a previous thread user pointed out they are criminally underused for a founding member. His wife is a Deflector specialist. They argue constantly about everything.

>His wife is a Deflector specialist.
Who is a bombshell non-Tellerite
>They argue constantly about everything.
Everything

Everything?

EVERYTHING

Considering Burnham's masterful plan of firing on the neck of the Memorial, I find it pretty funny that if the Dis covey takes one to the neck they're royally fucked too in a way no other Starfleet ship is

I know I forgot to add the previous Thread link last time because I'm an idiot, but come on dude.

Always getting in to fights with the missus. Just Trakam's luck

Unless you're most of the ships of the TNG era onward. We don't call her USS All Hands Lost for nothing.

Has anyone here watched Star Trek: Continues? It looks pretty good. Is it worth a watch?

Started up a session of Star Trek Adventures this evening with my group of long-time Trek fans and new fans.
This ruleset's tricky to use at first but once you get it down it's fairly easy, and you DEF gotta play with players who "get" Star Trek, but our first session went swimmingly.

...

So I don't want to really start a argument like the Cat guy from last thread, but if our ship is near the Romulan Border then what about making it a uneasy alliance with the Breen? We don't know much about them apart from the fact they hate Romulans and it would add conflict to the already tense crew. Please tell me if it's a dumb idea or not.

I just want more Breen is that so much to ask?

>Navigation Officer
Lt.jg. Marius Atras.
Born on Luna. Marius is a half Human, Half Boslic. Both of his parents had been cargo runners for years prior, before settling on Luna in the 2350's. Something about the notion of living under an open sky was unnerving to them, after so many years spent in artificial environments.
Marius graduated from the Academy a year before the beginning of the Dominion war. He spent most of the war serving as a junior navigation officer for the USS Maxia, an Akira class cruiser. The Maxia was destroyed at the Battle of Chin'toka and then-ensign Atras was one of only 16 survivors.
After significant counselling and physical therapy, Ensign Atras returned to service as the navigator for the USS Sparrow under Lt. Commander Talas.
At the end of the war he received a cursory commendation and promotion and has stuck with the ship ever since.
Atras gets on well with the rest of the crew, but finds it hard to form long term attachments, owing to the near total loss of his first crew. The only people on board he would call friends are Commander Talas and Lt. Volek. Both officers made him feel welcome and neccesary after his arrival on booard the ship and are a huge part of why he has stuck around since.

Open to criticism and alteration, before somebody jumps down my throat for having an idea.

With the UFP-RSE cold war set up as the major conflict for the next few decades, it would make sense that both sides are trying to collect client states. Martok is definitely bum-chums with Starfleet. And I suspect Cardassia is more keen to do buisness with the merciful Federation than the Ethno-purists of Romulus.
Perhaps the Breen are one of the last undecided major powers in the quadrant, so both sides are trying to influence them into picking a side.

, I almost want to NOT know more about the Breen. Easily one of the reasons they're so fascinating and creepy is that we basically know nothing about them, and even one of the more saliant facts we learn (that their homeworld is cold) is later revealed to be a complete fiction.

>And I suspect Cardassia is more keen to do buisness with the merciful Federation than the Ethno-purists of Romulus.
Yeah, as far as enemies go I'd rather have the Federation; sure you'll eventually loose that fight when they do some insane bullshit with your technology you thought previously impossible, but they won't kill you all while they're at it and at least you get the illusion of winning for awhile.
The Romulan Empire is at LEAST as big as the Federation, with equal resources, way more dedicated spacegoing killing machines, and a scarily efficient state police/intelligence agency that is almost it's own separate military complete with a fleet of ships.

It woul be possible to include the without really developing anything about their background, i suppose, oor simply have them as an unpredictable wild card in an already tense situation.

Somewhat unrelated, but apparently the Breen started off as an in-joke for the writers. They would always be referenced as having some absurd technology or trait. it was only in later DS9 that they decided to have them really impact on the story in any way.

>Somewhat unrelated, but apparently the Breen started off as an in-joke for the writers. They would always be referenced as having some absurd technology or trait.

Huh. Like the Sith lavarok.

>and even one of the more saliant facts we learn (that their homeworld is cold) is later revealed to be a complete fiction.

When did this happen?

What?

Late DS9. Weyoun says he went to Breen and the climate was actually quite temperate.

A thing in those early Star Wars novels.
At one point a joke between two of the major authors and picked up by a third was that there was some kind of weapon called a "Sith lanvarok", which each new time they mentioned added new weird elements to it, such that it killed incredibly horribly, was really hard to aim somehow, could be better used by left-handed people, etc.
The weapon is never actually described until an RPG supplement, but several characters remark how horrible it would be to get wasted by one.

Then either they a lying and that wasn't their homeworld, he is lying to fuck with Damar, Damar imagined the conversation after a bad bottle of kanar, the Breen hold that world as their home but originate elsewhere or they evolved as a species native to the extreme latitudes of that world.

That's sort of the point, we just don't know. That makes the Breen an interesting threat, because their motives and culture have been intentionally obfuscated.

In many way, giving the Breen a solid backstory would dull them down and turn them into one of 3-4 standard "Evil Space Empire" tropes.

I always took that line as the Breen were used to the cold of their planet so it didn't bother them.

Sup /stg/. Watching TNG for the first time in full instead of just individual episodes at random on reruns.
Holy wow Tasha Yar had two kinda vaguely rapey stuff in the first three episodes alone. No wonder the actress bailed on this show, she gets space-drugged onto fucking Data and then kidnapped by this random guy one episode later despite supposedly being the ship's resident badass.

Yeah, the lady who wrote that last ep you're talking about wrote an SG-1 episode where the same sorta thing happens to Carter actually.
So clearly it's her kink.

Oh yeah there is a surprising amount of rapey stuff in early Trek. I still remember when Chekov was in the middle of raping a klingon chick before he was stopped.

Wait!? Is that the same episode that had the whole "just because my sexual organs are on the inside" shit? Cause you can tell they regretted that line later on.

Season 1 TNG is a hell of a shitshow. If you ever read up on the behind the scenes stuff, you'll understand why and lot of it is down to Maurice Hurley and Leonard Maizlish. The latter being basically a walking sack of all the negative stereotypes you could think of for a Hollywood lawyer made manifest.

Strangely the SG-1 episode is somehow less awful. Not good, but less awful.

It's the S1 one where Carter is kidnapped and gets some kinda sexual attraction to one of her kidnappers or something. Probably not coincidentally, Tasha is a masculine woman with short blonde hair who pretty much the same shit happened to.
Probably double-not coincentally, writer Katheryn Powers sported a similar haircut and hair color at the time.

I guess nerds not masturbating before they write own material is not exclusive to men?

Re: that pic

Don't lower ranked junior officers have shared quarters instead of getting one for themselves?

Very few things about masturbation and nerds are exclusive to men as a point of fact, save for the whole "does it with the penis" part.

Betcha it depends on the ship size.
Galaxy-class are just loaded down with tons of extra space for example, specifically just for that.

>That's sort of the point, we just don't know. That makes the Breen an interesting threat, because their motives and culture have been intentionally obfuscated.
Right, that's what I'm saying.
Despite their humanoid nature, them being basically completely non-communicative and seemingly impossible to get anything out of makes them seem more alien then other species.

This.

Though given the typical ship size to crew ratio, most starfleet vessels will have a ton of room to spare for the crew.

The Galaxy class is pretty extreme could easily give everyone their own multi-story house if they wanted, its got the space.

Even ships like the Akira-class, which is like 2/3rds of the Galaxy-class' sheer mass, has a lot less crew then it has space in size ratio.

In Yesterday's Enterprise it was stated the alternate timeline Enterprise was capable of carrying 6000 troops. Starfleet ships in general are just extremely under crewed compared to their size.

Sexiest female aliens from the Trek universe.

Go.

Where is her porn?

Their home world is likely believed by people who have not been there to be frozen because the Breen wear refrigerator suits. It's considered intolerably cold to Cardassians that have been there but very comfortable to a Vorta with a natural environmental tolerance.

I was going to say. Vorta have been bioengineered to resist poisons and shit so they can be the ultimate ambassadors, surely they've been engineered to fit in most climates too. I'm not sure I could ever trust a Vorta's perceptions to be at all meaningful to how I would perceive anything.

wat

Andorians and klingons

I'm thinking the planet is pine forest and the Breen's Timber Wolf inspiration are not far off. Most humanoids would be fine at the breen homeworld equator, but cardassians and other similar would hate the whole planet, too cold and too bright. The Breen developed in the snow fields and later found the poles and frozen worlds even more inviting, they developed freezing tech to make their world more inviting but left the world unchanged. Other worlds they bring eternal winter to.

Vorta are also fanatics who believe literally whatever the Founders tell them, which could well include that they're having a wonderful time on this planet they're ordered to travel to.

Just like with the Jem'Hadar, there's really no point in even talking to one because they're working entirely off of engineered instincts, to the point that they may not even qualify as conscious.

I'd almost say the Jem'Hadar have a better capacity for independent thinking than the Vorta.

>Andorians

Heck, with Andorians you get your choice of two different kinds of females.

Andorians. Blue skin and white hair are a couple of my fetishes.

Female (male)

The lack of good replicators and holodeck could have been covertly arranged by the Councillor. Why? Because unity in adversity. Nothing bonds a team like a shared suffering.

I like that as a concept.

I think it's more
- Male 1 (chaan)
- Male 2 (thaan)
- Female with ovipositor (shen)
- Female kangaroo (zhen)

The chaan and thaan fertizile the shen's eggs, who then carries them as they grow in size for a bit before using her ovipositor to deposit them into the egg sacks of the zhen, who does not actually contribute genetic information to the eggs but who carries them to term and is the provider of milk for baby Andorians.

I'm thinking that this probably developed because Andor is a hostile world where it's more beneficial to have 3 providers and 1 child-rearer, than one of each.

Consider that, say, in a tribe of 60 adult humans, 30 would stay at home to raise kids or gather fruits and nuts and stuff, while 30 would be out hunting.

Conversely on Andor, 15 would be raising kids and gathering fruits and nuts and whatnot while 45 would be hunting. This also explains their warrior bent: three-quarters of their society are war-capable, as compared to only half among humans.

Given that Andor is a frozen world, this tendency makes sense: plant life/fungi/lichen whatever is rare, so Andorians might be nearly obligate carnivores...as is everything they hunt.

Or it's just male and Female, because that's how they're presented in everything besides 1 novel series.

Orion slave girls.
Passionate animal fucksluts that turn men they're with onto near-mindless fuck machines out of sheer animal lust.

The thing is that the Councilor is an Orion woman who has been mentioned is manipulative enough to be a queen among her people. Unlike the rest of her people who resort to sex for reasons of expedience or convenience she does not. She does not need to. It is not known how many Orions are in the UFP or Star Fleet but presumably enough to exist in perpetuity as a branched off culture by this point considering that they have been around in this fashion since Kirk. Of this UFP Orion society she has been born.

Being manipulative does not mean being an evil super bitch, she can use those powers for good.

This does not mean that she uses these powers for nice.

So long as the crew she serves has continued hardships they remain close knit. It is therefore her responsibility to provide as many hardships as comforts that bond them together.

There is no need for the rationed communications either, that's her again. Feelings of isolation if properly managed can be a shared suffering, the companions around the camp fire. The Romulans/Breen or whoever just across the border they are right next to the wolves beyond the fire light, everyone forced to depend on one another, defend one another and drawn to the warmth of each other.

She does care about her crew, and they are HER crew, but she would rather they be happy than comfortable.

Definitely Orion slave girls man. You have no idea how much that scene from "The Cage" influenced a very young me. Leia in the slave costume didn't help either.

Runner up is Klingons for me. Love me some tall, aggressive, warrior women.

You know, the Orion Syndicate and the orions themselves seem to never have much info written about them for such a prominent species in the series in terms of how famous they are to the average non-fan.
Practically everyone remembers or knows of the "green space babes".

Junior officers are lucky to have a solo closet. They're typically paired up.
