I dunno. On one hand, I'm pretty happy with our update, and at least we aren't 7th Edition Ork or Eldar tier. On the other, I'm a bit miffed we didn't get any new units, didn't get a skitarii HQ, nor did the Dominus get a buff or point cut. Oh well.

That doesn't make any sense for my army at all. It's a mechanized infantry list all about driving up to things in transports, unloading, and rapid firing in their face. We don't need a longer range, we need cheaper or better chimeras so that you aren't a complete retard not taking tauroxen instead.

Nobody ever pays attention to AdMech. Even in 7th where they were undiluted bullshit with the best infantry in the game, the most retarded HQ outside of Guilliman and the single most broken formation in the game that required an FAQ that shot every army in the game in the foot just to counter it, people still considered it a chill faction with nice players.

Probably because unlike Tau and Guard most AdMechfags actually are chill. Fuck Sydonians though. In 7th, now, and forever.

Transports that are more survivable does help you out.

What Markerlight effects would you add to Septs, assuming they came with the Codex (like Orders for IG)? Too low in the ML table and the comparable range of effects is weaksauce (reroll 1, ignore cover), too high (to equal the +1 to hit) and it's still mostly useless because 5 ML hits on one unit are borderline impossible to get.

So in keeping with ML being debuffs to the unit hit or more accurately, buffs to those shooting at them, what might we expect? Reroll 1s to wound, extra range, unit-specific stronger buffs (Rail Rifles and HRR give MWs on 5s), ect?

Vanguard got Scout for being in the Skitarii Maniple, and had Relentless as standard. They were T3 4+ save 6+ FNP, reasonable given they cost 9 ppm, though more durable than FWs and Guardians, competing Troops choices with the same price.
But their guns were retarded. 6s are autowounds? Sure. Oh they cause two wounds when they do this? Fuck off. A couple of squads of them, buffed by the then-insane Doctrinas, could take down a Wraithknight in a single turn. This on top of their -1 T in melee debuff, which lowered the threshold for Instant Death and made them excellent escorts for any stompy Imperial character. God help you if the fag also brought an Inquisitor with rad grenades.

It made all wargear choices free, including relics, and removed Gets Hot, which coincidentally were the only two things holding back plasma calivers from being completely fucking retarded. People took 90 point Vanguard squads fully loaded with wargear and shoved them in drop pods, breaking the game to such a degree that the man who was the world #1 player for a good time in 7th played it, even after the FAQ that forbade transport sharing.

Free wargear amounted to more free points than Gladius and it was far more killy too. When Dante's Used Pod Emporium was still in business the list was unbeatable, even by Eldar.

It gave them free equipment and weapons out the ass.

No, they got the Formation that gave them every single piece of wargear, every upgrade, every Relic, for free, and also made them immune to Gets Hot, and also shared all their buffs among every unit.

It was the most powerful list. It was, however, also not auto-pilot, it actually required thinking, which is why the best player was able to take advantage of its high skill ceiling but it didn't overwhelm tournaments in huge numbers.

The gets hot was always highly touted as OP, but no fucker on earth used Plasma culverins over heavy grav and you could only get 6 plasma calivers maximum in a War Convo list.

Also, you would only get 5 characters in that list, with the fixed 4 Skittles squad leaders and the 1 tech dom you could afford (Until Cawl came along and you stopped taking one at all). So the relic spam was limited.

The free wargear only really affected the skittles Vanguard and Ranger squads, the Onager unit and the Kastelans. Most of the other wargear in the list was sidegrades.

It's the army wide canticles that was absolute bullshit, 2+ all round in cover first turn was filthy.

Guard is only army with alternative infantry miniatures. So get fucked everyone. You only need to change a color of your marine/ork/tautard to get different bonus.

You can still take Creed from index, even if you are playing by the codex.

Scout Sentinel is the best tie up unit.
Conscripts are the best screen.
Bullgryn are the best heavy melee.

So I suppose having the best of everything outside of flyers and LoW means most balanced?
