Previous thread: sexiest author edition (that's who)

TRAVELLER

No Traveller

SDA is a faggot.

TRAVELLER

Faggot is a SDA

So since you brought him up in the 'sexiest author edition' I take it that's what you are into?

I want Tok to spit on my face

...

...

So I hear people enjoy long CYOAs? Here is something I put together. I enjoyed making it and hopefully others will enjoy reading it.

People here have a kindergartner's attention span, so you goofed by not giving them any attention grabbing pictures.

...

RWBY companions when

hopefully never

right after PP+

Why

Tough one. Monarchy, Socialism, and Technocracy both have a lot on offer. Well....

Ah, heck with it, Technocracy every time. Long Live Academician Prokhor Zakharov.

ANOTHER PICTURE FOR THE SKELETON FOLDER

RWBY really tilts some people, probably because it's a sum-mediocre show that got an excessive hype/fandom going, and it doesn't fit easily into most mental categories/Veeky Forums boards of thought. Too american-made for /a/, too anime for /co/, and so forth with basically any other box it could nicely fit in.

>PP+
I only hope that Italics retcons all the bad things that happened to Amew, so she isn't a suffering waifu anymore. She is my waifu after all.

...

Theocracy. As an atheist, I will be immune to the effects, and it allows for the greatest power of positive social change, given that the majority of people are god-believers.

Surprisingly accurate.

Fucking slut

I think it looks very good! I won't read through it now because I have a headache and the acetaminophen won't kick in before I get too tired to read it anyway, but I'll do it in the morning, okay? I promise.

I like the concept of the seven aspects, though. It's not too often you see a unique Set of Seven, and I think the ones you chose look rather nice.

terrible waifu material

It's cause she's not loyal to the dick. Implicit bias in the test.

She's only loyal to her own dick

Fuck you, whorenabler.

In the end, aren't we all?

Technocracy gotta go with the thing that will drive me close to singularity

I like what I'm reading, but my skimming so far makes it seem far harsher than I'm really willing to go for. Right out the gate you'd need to unlock companionship, property, curiosity, violence, and ambition just to have a loose approximation of a world roughly like our own, and that's not counting that there'd be some required upgrades under those, too. It seems like you're going to blow most/all of your points just attempting to recreate things as they are. The flaws that aren't neutral (like Thus Spoke Alhazred), at least under "self," seem like they'd never ever be worth taking, given that you'd have to spend eternity with them, but they're also required to get anything resembling a sane universe running.

Maybe I'm over-focused on the idea of 'recreating a universe like our own to play in,' but I think it might be a good idea to have a sample build of how to make something like that, or maybe use something along those lines as the baseline instead of "empty void." There's a bit too much here to sort through for me to feel like I've gotten there without missing anything, which is what I'd prefer to do before playing around with adding on superpowers.

I'm somewhat surprised there's nothing that lets you "reincarnate" to experience things anew (not the "totally reset everything" Phoenix perk) or a way to permit yourself to die but still experience a Rite of Ashk’Ente afterlife. And for that matter, there seems to be a missing middle-ground between Forgetful Phoenix resetting everything (including your memories) and New Game Plus keeping your memories AND letting you change your choices.

Also, would A Midwich Cuckoo apply to the temporal dopplegangers Go Fold Yourself implies you might otherwise wind up fighting?

I like OC but the premise is heavy.

In the end what separates a dick from a man?

A dick chooses a man obeys

That's a masculine penis. Feminine penises don't work that way, and are also not gay.

Rereading this, my phrasing is a clusterfuck. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the upgrades you need to make a sane world to live in are spread out all over the place, so it's kind of hard to track down what you need. And my skimming suggests that actually buying everything needed for a sane world to live in is going to put you really far into the red, which is not something you even remotely want when it's something you'd have to deal with for eternity. So I think this CYOA could benefit from some sample builds or "packages" of things the author thinks wouldn't drive someone to horrible despair over eternity, as a starting baseline to build from.

I think "The Birds Obeyed Him" was what I was looking for with the middle ground between Forgetful Phoenix and New Game Plus, though. Though again, it's notable that those two are right next to each other, but the thing I consider the "middle ground" is under an entirely different aspect.

Came here to make sure this got posted. Might as well contribute.

i wonder if rwby reviser guy is doing okay. i hope so

Dead and gone. Abandoned us.

...

Democracy because she the cutest.

yeah ok. ill probably get over it

He said new pages within the week, you turds.

no you

It's not your fault user

I think I know the best build:
>NONE

When I complete my choice, the door is closed, never to open. The truth is sealed, and I am banished from all that there is to be banished from.

When I complete my choice.

If I complete my choice.

The door is not yet closed. I am not yet banished. The truth is not yet sealed. I may still remain in this purgatory, still in the world of my jailors, still free to talk - to debate - to glean.

There are few things that it is never just to deny. Of them, the first is understanding. Whether to imprison without understanding is inescapable, I do not know. But, I also do not know whether it is just. Whether I will be stuck in a glass cage, trapped in my own eternity for no reason but their amusement.

Thus, it is my right - my duty - to challenge. To claim what little freedom I have, to accumulate what little knowledge I can. And if that knowledge's injustice is shown only in its acquisition, then I would rather be unjust than unknowing.

And if this is all a bluff, that they have no ability to force or kill and must instead trap and deceive; so much the better.

Haven't seen this around.

...

Judging from the requirements for "Libya Hill,"

Start with 7 favors
Property 6
One Small Step 5
Behold My Works 4

Curiosity 3
Thus Spoke Alhazred 4

Companionship 3
Élan Vital 2
Ta Erôtikê 1
Prelude to War 0

Violence -1
Quincey's Fine Art -2 (I'm not sure why this is necessary, but it was listed for Libya Hill)

Ambition -3 (not for Libya Hill, but necessary to live a normal life)

It apparently puts you at -3 favors out the gate to build a universe that with the same level of reality as our own. -4 to get a recreation. I'm also not really clear on how necessary "Just in Time Genesis" or "Kenosis" are to actually shape a world without micromanaging every detail. By their descriptions it sounds like it'd be impossible to really make much without them. Still, it looks to me like you pretty much blow everything just to get a normal universe up and running. Kind of shaping up to look like "the only winning move is not to play" , or at least avoiding "self" so you eventually die and don't have to spend eternity here.

Do Highlander next!

The tone is too final and dark for me to really get engaged and it's really stingy on the most basic comforts as those cost as much as godlike abilities. Hell most eldritch horror cyoas don't fuck you over as bad as this one.

I've got to admit, this is the only CYOA I can recall off the top of my head of where you have to spend points to not immediately suffocate and die within seconds.

Only thing I would add is maybe numbering the choices. I feel like looking for a number next to a name might make navigating smoother. Could wrong though.
Either way, nice work.

Traps are gay

Engaging, but having to scroll up and down to find prerequisites is not particularly fun. Your writing is pleasant, though.

What if that is what dooms the world?

Then those omniscient fuckers made a self fulfilling prophecy that would destroy everything and made you a pawn in their game doing so.

Thanks a bunch user.

In times like these, the country has to become unified in purpose and in leadership. This doesn’t have to be done with force, but it is still an option. My slogan shall be, “Red hand, Black head, White heart,” which means that most of the time people are going to see me act like a stereotypical Black Season boy.

This is probably the hardest cyoa I’ve ever done. Thank you for the challenge.

What if our goal is to get back and find out why we were kicked out?

Socialism is a mix of attractive and strong.

Anarchy, Democracy, and Republicanism are all weak powers, and not superhot. Fascism is attractive, but not very useful, same with monarchy. Autocracy is only good if you live violently. Technocracy and Theocracy are also good choices.

Why would you post that here?

But I don't have one.

I'm not a fan of the penalties for not buying an Aspect. I feel like most of them are unnecessarily harsh, so they rope you into buying them, and then you can hardly buy anything else, resulting in extremely boring, cookie-cutter builds.

>Not picking autocracy and becoming a Bonapartist power couple
The fuck is wrong with you

>With effort you should be able to create a universe with anything you could ever want in it and play any role you desire inside of it. The only limitations being that nothing you select will ever let you leave or learn anything concerning the true nature of your eventual crimes. Know that you are forming the world you will live in for far more than your limited understanding of eternity. Once chosen your selections are immutable and the world you have created set. Do not make your decisions lightly and think carefully about how your choices will interact. Most importantly, think carefully about who you are, what you want, and what you believe you will want in your millionth lifetime. Soon you will be offered many routes to meaningless power and as tempting as it may be to render yourself an omnipotent creator god always remember that the greatest of mortal joys arise from the vulnerabilities, tragedies, and triumphs of life. How many centuries before you bore of having every whim catered to instantly, no challenges to overcome, and no goals to strive for?

We'd need like seven or eight times as many starting favors as we actually get in order to do any of that stuff. Because I doubt anyone is interested in taking Tithonus-style immortality for any amount of power.

Technocracy.

remove traditions REMOVE TRADITIONS you are the reality deviant smell

So about this Order CYOA, is there any way to remove the corruption by pride?

Also I'm guessing the OP build is just getting 200 skill + end of the world?

Post your best CYOA
It is very comfy to play

Da best

The concept of this CYOA is fucking amazing. However a quick look at it makes it clear that you are a bit deprived in points, regardless of that this is only a minor balancing issue and it can be easily fixed. Great job Little fox, i will surely spend hours trying to figure out how to design my "prison".

REALLLLY harsh for something that makes such a huge song and dance out of how you are ABSOLUTELY, PERMANENTLY, and ETERNALLY stuck with your decisions. That sort of talk makes me want to avoid drawbacks at all costs. And the drawbacks look pretty harsh enough even without all the eternity stuff.

And you have to spend at least one favour to even breathe. The mandatory buys easily eat up your entire pool.

Really tantalizing with the godlike power though. Just dissappointing you can’t really do any of it.

Suggestion: the effects of lack of ASPECTs are very strong, to the point that the only one I'd consider not taking is COMFORT.

Maybe some kind of middle ground where you get a free minor ASPECT, or you can pay for a MAJOR and buy UPGRADEs or pass over it completely.

So for example, VIOLENCE. What if I don't want the skill bonus, but I also don't want to be incapable of confrontation, so I pick it as a minor aspect.

Self actually isn't that bad to go without, considering that without some forty favors worth of bells and whistles you won't really have a universe worth being immortal in. That still leaves Companionship, Property, Curiosity, Violence, and Ambition as totally necessary purchases, though. Companionship seems like it'd almost necessitate Ta Erôtikê as well, but I guess the purchase price there is covered by Thus Spoke Alhazred. Still, 5 points out of 7 consumed on obligatory buys.

At least you're aware of it, SDA.

mentor time

For the same reason everybody hates homestuck, undertale, bronies, furries, etc.

Started making a build, gave up halfway through the CYOA. Really needs something on the order of 50+ points, not 7. Was out of points by page 8 just grabbing the stuff I thought was absolutely essential (considering this is supposed to be eternal), saving everything I just "wanted" for a second pass. Nobody sane would ever take any of the Self flaws, they'd probably sooner not take Self at all. The three companionship flaws might be worth it, but the Fantasy upgrade and subsequent flaws weren't remotely worth anything, given how big of a problem the fantasy flaws would be over eternity, and how many other things the points I would spend on Fantasy were needed elsewhere. Asteroid B-612 is another one of those things no one sane would ever take unless they were skipping the immortality altogether. Skipping flaws from that point on I was at like -30 by page 22, and gave up trying to make a build there.

they hate us cause they aint us

The SELF flaw "Gehazi’s Child" is takeable, and is in some ways a boon.

That world view explains a lot about your type.

Have pity on them, user.

More like when is this cyoa going to finished?

>No pain
How about no?

Fair, I think the idea of anyone taking Struldbrug was baffling enough to put that one out of my mind. Still, call me paranoid, but even that one I would be extremely fucking iffy on saddling myself with for eternity. Non-toggleable total immunity to pain means, at the very least, I'm missing out on any Hellraiser cenobite parties. And I'm pretty sure I didn't even take Tardigrade originally, which is something you'd almost certainly want to take with it, neutralizing the point gain.

Does anyone have that "mages familiar" cyoa in a good resolution? I can't seem to find it.

You can't even take tardigrade with that so don't bother.

>have a million CYOA ideas
>don't feel like working on any of them

Give it time, soon the whispers will force you.

HAHA OH WOW I TAKE THE "FAIR" COMMENT BACK. Yeah, I'm hewing closer to my original
>Nobody sane would ever take any of the Self flaws
statement now. To be fair it's still not quite on the level of most of the others self flaws, but not something I would ever feel comfortable taking.
