Should I paint my dudes as raven guard or paint them metallic blue like pic related (but not alpha legion) ?

Look, Waac-ness aside I want a lord of War guard tank in my army, and I'd love to know if any Guardfags could help me out.

The core of the army will be like 3 basilisks in the back, with 2-3 Battle Cannon russes up front slowly but surely moving. Also, some scion squads with melta/plasma to DELET whatever looks pesky turn one. On top of that, a bunch of infantry squads (5? 6?) with two or so heavy weapons lads tagging in the back, either with missiles, autocannons, or lascannons.

So with all that coming to roughly 1500 (with a definite need to mess around with some stuff, I'm not sold on basilisks over a taurox prime or Russ for instance- funnier models and rules), what superheavy should I do? Stormlord is great for that mid-heavy Fire, baneblade is the OG takeall, shadowsword is a walking fuck you to other superheavies, plus all the other variations. What should I do bros???

I'm more about goes fast than sneak. I like the decapitation strike/asymmetrical warfare angle of the raven guard than just sneaking through bushes sneakily.

From my own experience and through what I see other people saying they are very firmly above average. If you have a group that lets models like Mortarion survive past turn 2 then DG can be A tier.

If you already have stuff built and painted, just try out different combinations until you find one you like. Since you’re going for Mechaguard you’ll want to make sure you can quickly deal with enemy anti-vehicle, usually by making the infantry perform that role while the armor is the anti-infantry and cover while the Basilisks pound things into dirt. With that in mind, a regular Baneblade would serve you well. If you want the armor to kill big things and infantry to kill little things, take a Banesword to park in the back.

So I use battlescribe mobile when I am at the LGS, and I got their dice roller tool. Do people not like phone rolling for 40+ roll actions? I want to cut down on time when my ork army is put together.

I use them, and can reliably table people by turn 5/6, but I think my local scene is fairly bad at 40k. You do want a demon prince if you go DG, and the crawlers are pretty solid (4+ to hit sucks but they still do work). You basically need to focus hard on synergy to get anything going. Oh and cultists with no heavy weapon penalty and 18" rapid fire are kind of scary

Sure I get that some can be shady but it seems like BS is at least a known commodity so they have no reason to release a cheat program. I wouldn't use any other roller just because my opponents would have no reference to their reliability. I also get that they make mistakes in the rules but that doesn't effect whether a RNG program works

Depends on the dice. If you're obviously cheating with something like forge world dice, I'll whip out my phone and make you use the rolling app on it, or download the app on your phone if you don't trust me.
