So, this is the first *playable* version of this that I'm posting. It includes only about half of the number of books I want to have in the final version, but it would stand alone as a CYOA as is. I'm posting because I need some degree of feedback both to improve it, and to give me motivation for the rest of it. The final version will have more points; I adjusted the points here to be appropriate to the number of options available.

For context, the books NOT included that I intend to still have for sure are: The Book of Three, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Phantom Tollbooth, Wizard of Oz, Artemis Fowl, Rikki Tikki Tavi, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Indian in the cupboard, Deltora Quest, Silver Wing, Grimm's Fairytales, Babar, CYOA books, Brave Story, Tuck Everlasting, Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Spiderwick, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Are you there God? It's Me, Margaret, Series of Unfortunate Events, The Giver, Gregor the Overlander, Where The Sidewalk Ends, Amelia Bedelia, Magic Schoolbus, Give a Mouse a Cookie, Hairy McClary. Though any could be cut if I don't come up with good powers for them.

Suggestions for powers, or changes to existing ones, are welcome, but not expected.

Maybe. But then, in pocket dimension cyoa you aren't required to ONLY be in your pocket dimension, if I recall correctly.

Yeah, this is just thoroughly unpleasant to contemplate as written. It's a lot to ask an user to read for something that's not even desirable.

Just make the aspects free, and forgoing them count as a drawback. That would still leave plenty of interesting choices without leaving user with the task of slogging through a document to build an unpleasant prison.

It does work with humans, though it's just been pointed out to me that there are limitations on the power from the books I forgot to include (I haven't read them myself). Namely it takes a minute or so to transform, and you can do so for a maximum of two hours at a time. So, you can definitely use it for impersonation and infiltration, but fulling replacing a person in their life is probably out. I will include those clarifications in the final version.

Someone wrote it up in an interesting way here and i agree with most of it.
Your way of giving aspects for free with the option to return them individually for extra favors is also pretty nice.

Man I want to choose like half the books you have on the "to do" list... I think you'd do better to ask for what books you're having problems coming up with powers/stuff for and see if anything posted sparks your imagination so they can all be added.

Thrice Ninth Tsardom

Coming up with a build that didn't leave me gimped too much was kinda difficult when going for thrice ninth tsardom. With 7 dragons and 100 mini bogatyrs and myself who is no slouch my enemies will have a hell of a time with this bastard tsar. When I die it will be interesting to see which of my kids will take the throne considering they are minamaxed opposites.

So, I could only transform for two hours? Not sure if it´s worth 5 points, then. I mean, I only chose two dreams and there is already Polyjuice potion in Harry Potter.

It´s a pity comic books are not an option, by the way. Hellblazer, Sandman and a few others could be way more interesting than , say, Goodnight Moon.

At a time. You could "re-do" the transformation immediately after, but it would be obvious to anyone observing what was happening. It would be an "excuse yourself to go to the bathroom" to re-apply the change sort of thing.

Anyway, for now, I didn't put the limitation in that document so it's not there for this version.

If there are books that I do not have powers for, I will certainly ask /cyoag/ before I eliminate them. I'm not to that point yet, though.

Honestly I think we should at least get 10 favors for free, that way I can buy the seven aspects and have 3 points left to evolve myself or the world, making me much more interested in staying inside the cage.

I dont think the system is all that bad, some flaws can be ignored with a certain focus, and they become somewhat free points to help pay for the truly necessary things, but only 7 points is just so little, give me 10 and I go inside the cage like a good little boy, otherwise I will just stay here blocking the door.

I think the first thing I would do with ultimate power would be to reach godhood and then reenact golden morning in a perfect copy of earth, hmmm if violence on a universal scale is my first desire, then maybe my captors do have a point in locking me away.

Don't know what the issue is with points. Sure I'd like more, but it's perfectly fine to make a build in which you are an awesome adventurer in a world filled with adventure. Just abuse the "Comfy" aspect for points. And even without that, it's still possible to do something reasonable.

For me it often comes to a point where I have to post something or abandon a project due to lack of enthusiasm. I'm human, and flawed, and can't work solely in a void. It's also a lot to expect a product to be completed before input can be sought on it, especially since such input may lead to major revisions.

I don't really have an issue myself with wips as long as they're not being flooded all the time and you do bring up a good point that sometimes it's the feedback that can give you the push to help finish a project or take it in a better direction then where you were originally going. It can also have the opposite effect and stall people out, but that of course depends on the person.

I have made a conscious effort to tone down posting of WIPs; I recognize now that I was an absolute nightmare about it with my first CYOA. So I definitely appreciate and agree that there is a limitation on what is reasonable.

As the one who said that, I don't disagree with your point. I managed to do it pretty much straight through, by taking notes on what perks drawbacks I would be "required" to take in later sections, but it far from an ideal format.

To ya all who made complains about how many options clash with victory conditions on the last page, yes, those complains are technically legitimate, but you miss the point of why this system is the way it is. Basically it's like a /pol/ satire. You don't take and hold power and build an empire in Russia by making reforms, building roads and implementing new legal systems. If you try to implement new laws, build infrastructure and make a foundation for a stable system in a along term here, people give you wierd looks and your respect and influence goes into negatives. Instead you dump everything in blood points, buy as much personal skills as possible and then go on enforcing your will and glory on everyone around you, making prosperity and security of the land depend on your prowess and your prowess alone. Make yourself irreplaceable. YOU are the state, YOU are the law, YOU are the will of gods, that's the only road to the Thrice Ninth Tsardoms in those parts.
