Yes, there's a point where they ask for you to write the private key. Of course the ask for other stuff in order to distract you from it and they say it is safe, they don't store info, yadda yadda.

The Confido exit scam is even worse. The team used fake aliases, made a whitepaper, and shilled their coin everywhere to make it all legit. Once everything was according to their plan, they locked up and took all tokens, before writing an announcement about having legal issues, which resulted in shutting down everything the coin had for. They deleted every twitter, subreddit, and Facebook account and ran away with 300k, and possibly millions for those who got in the ICO. Initially, what made people believe in Confido was the assumed partnership with Chainlink, and because of how Veeky Forums had trusted Sergey, but he denied any connections with Confido. The subreddit was filled with angry investors who was lured into this scam, and created threads about losing their home/savings, it was fucked.

Steemit had a huge issue their first year or so where people would type their private key in the memo field broadcasting it to the network.

I do customer support at the crypto startup I'm at sometimes, and I can tell you crypto is going to gobble up a ton of peoples money. They're sending it to wrong addresses, normies have to get new addresses constantly because their accounts/wallets get compromised frequently. This will get a ton more worse.
