For funsies:

And here I thought skippy the jedi droid was the best joke about the contrivances of star wars

So here's a question: how much "stuff" should I give to players in their adventures in Age of rebellion? Is there a good rule of thumb to follow on how much money is too much to give?

4 credits an hour.

Anyone know when guns for hire is supposed to come out?

still some weeks off

Does anyone know where a good place to find someone to split G4H with? I only want the Kihraxz half.

I want the whole thing others I would try selling the starviper half on eBay

I'm retarded

Heart of the Empire comes out for Imperial Assault on Thursday. Will the AT-DP finally give us a playable massive vehicle, and what in this wave will have the biggest effect on skirmish?

I'm kinda new to IA, so let me guess-

- the new resource tokens will end up enabilig a rebel equivalent to Scum Focus Factory and will be brutal.

- the Vader, Han, and Chewie fixes will make a lot of thematic players happy.

- The Elite Sentry Droids will be a potential replacement for Ejets. Droid combo cards will be annoying.

Also, is a squad of Vader, 2 squads of Etroopers, Zillo, and 8 points of misc shit (officers and stuff) a good idea? Thematic builds are fun.

I've wanted to try flying a tie phantom but I've seen comments online that they're tough to fly. Anyone have any tips or strategies on how to use a phantom and be effective with it?

Did these guys get a pricetag in FFGSW? i know AoR has them statted for Darktroopers but not sure they added prices or penalties for getting caught with them/how easy they were to recognize.

With the introduction of the Prequels and books saying the Empire did deem Dwarf Spider Droids and Crab Droids worth salvaging I wonder if CAVs would be deployed with mounts for DSD,CD partners. It seems like a good idea.

They are working for the Alliance military and probably aren't getting paid a sum like a mercenary group might. They should be getting stuff from command based on their successes and what is necessary for the mission. They should have a bit of personal money and a discretionary fund for their missions, but they really shouldn't be getting big payouts.

I really liked the Imp Officer and medic skins from TFU Wii, unfortunately I can't get any good images of them sadly.

Er, wrong image, but it's good one.

No price because they were never manufactured for sale, and I'd make them illegal with a rarity of 8 or 9.

Practice. Set up a play area at home with objects on it, and practice flying through it/decloaking. It feels lame, but it's great for learning to fly tricky ships.

*blocks your path*

What do?

Detonate the claymore taped to my chest, fuck us all if we can't take a joke

I realized something a little while ago. The shield part of Dovin basals seem to work almost like 40k void shields in the "Super Point Defense" way, only with mini black holes instead of portals to hell. I wonder if that was a conscious thing.

referencing this?

So I got From A Certain Point of View.

Thematically its all over the shop but it makes me wonder about canon when it has an outro with the Whills basically as stand ins for bickering Lucasfilm producers.

The stories that are good are fun though

Only way you're getting them is to rip them from the manipulators of a dead Dark Trooper yourself like Kyle did.

Anyone else houserule that DTs have the Cortosis rule on their armour? They really should.

TIE Silencer

Seconding the other guy.

Note, the Phantom is an arc-dodger. If you are rolling green dice with it, you have a chance for it to all go up in smoke quickly. Do not joust with it.

Understand exactly where the candy-cane move (decloak to the side, 1 hard the opposite way) will put you.

Also a dumb story about the gunner who doesnt shoot the escape pod which reads like the Family Guy bit

What's your best 4x Kihraxz build for when Vaksai comes out?

I'm thinking 4 Black Sun Aces with Crack Shot, Dampeners, Thread Tracers, Vector Thrusters, Chips, and PRS will be pretty good.

Pablo has mentioned that some stories are canon, and some aren't, and that it's probably not going to be stated which are canon and which aren't.

How's this sound for a tournament coming up? I usually play with five activations so having four makes me nervous, and the squadron composition might be iffy.

MC80 Assault Cruiser
- Dodonna
- Defiance, Lando, Electronic Countermeasures, Quad Battery Turrets, Leading Shots

Nebulon B Escort Frigate
- Yavaris, Flight Commander, Fighter Coordination Team

2x GR-75 w/ Comms Net

2x Scurrg
Ten Numb
Dutch
Wedge
2x VCX
HWK

I'd want Luke and/or Norra over Wedge and/or Dutch.
Also a second defensive retro for the pickle - you're paying an opportunity cost for the slot so you might as well use it.

What's your opinion on already teased SW Legion rules and components? Will you pre-order it or buy it asap? Or maybe you will wait for the first expansion revealed?

Interested, but Imma wait and see how it goes first.
I want to see some more interesting troops and vehicles before I buy in Dark Troopers/Death Troopers/AT-PTs/that arc caster armed AT-DP from the rebels S4 teaser for example.

My opinion of the rules is pretty good, definitely looks fun.

My biggest variable for purchasing is local play group - where I live there's no gaming store that's closer than an hour away (I know some of you are willing to travel that far for regular gaming, but I'm not), so my local group is basically just me and one friend, plus 2-3 people we can occasionally rope into a game now or then but haven't gotten them to ever fully buy in to anything. On top of that, by the time it comes out, I may well have moved out of state and have no friends left (but possibly acquired a local store).

I also detest painting.

If I expect to have a group to play with, I'll buy it when it comes out.

>I'd want Luke and/or Norra over Wedge and/or Dutch.

Luke/Norra and Wedge/Dutch are probably interchangeable depending on whether you want to focus on bombing or killing squadrons; but I'm pretty scared of Sloane fighter lists and if Luke's my only escort he'll be torn between that and bombing. I see the argument - with Dodonna, Luke is maximized value and Norra gets my Scurrgs hitting hull sooner (plus adding around half an extra average damage).

But if we're playing a token based objective where my VXCs want to be doing that, while Luke/Norra/friends want to hit ships, my anti-squadron would amount to Ten Numb and a HWK. Meanwhile, Luke is the only escort keeping that HWK alive, keeping my bombers bombing.

Plus, Dutch gets more individual value out of Yavaris than Norra does. Dutch - Wedge - Ten all double-tapping squadrons is a shitload of damage (not to mention potentially disabling two troublesome aces), and they're great/great/amazing bombers respectively once the air is clear.

In a Gallant Haven/Rieekan list, where your defense is bolstered, you might not need the extra AA. But I think I do, here.

>Also a second defensive retro for the pickle - you're paying an opportunity cost for the slot so you might as well use it.

I'd rather have the bid than RBDs or something. No point in filling a slot just to fill it. I didn't need the extra point of squadron, and between QBTs, leading shots, and Defiance, I've got lots of dice fixing and dice addition at long range - so it made sense to maximize my long range damage.

In an ideal case - probably won't happen every game, let alone multiple times a game, but ideally - a double arc with everything going off would be 6 red, 6 blue at long range, with leading shots for rerolls. I think that's worth the extra points over the Command, for which I wouldn't have a use for the offensive slot anyways.

By all means, disagree if you think my reasoning is wrong, but those were my thought processes.

Fair enough, I see you've put plenty of though into this. My local meta is mostly rebel with minimum fighter coverage (4As or 3Xs + Jan) so I'm usually more focused on bombing than the actual fighter engagement.

Having played mostly Imperial has probably led me to over value defensive retrofits too. The slots for them were so limited for the first 4 waves I'm probably traumatized as a result.

Defensive retrofits are mostly not good.

ECMs can absorb like ten or more damage over a game if it's enabling you to brace big hits, which is absolutely huge.

But the rest are either mediocre or bad. Advanced Projectors / RBDs are usually gonna save you around 3-4 damage on a big ship, which is alright but not amazing.

Redundant Shields is equivalent to spending an engineering token. And it costs 8 points to do that. I like it a bit more than most people - toss on Raymus, and with an engineering dial you heal 4 shields a turn - but it's so expensive that it's hard to justify. It's usually better to just spend the 8 points killing things or bidding.

Cluster bombs is an average 3 damage to a bomber that attacks you, as a 5 point discard. Flack and get lucky and you kill a ten point bomber, I guess? Those points could be SW-7s or Leading Shots instead.

I played a game of it using Tabletop Simulator. It's a lot of fun. The special abilities really bring the battlefield to life. Vader made his way to one of my entrenched troop positions and force pulled them, then choked one to death. Once they were engaged in melee, he dispatched all of them in a single turn.

One thing I don't like about it is the comms range. Maybe we don't know the right rules for comms range yet, but they say if troops are out of range of the commander they can't take any action. We thought that was too crazy, so we allowed any unit out of range to take a single move action which we called "regrouping" so they could huff it over to the commander.

If you like miniature wargames and Star Wars, it's definitely worth checking out.

>One thing I don't like about it is the comms range. Maybe we don't know the right rules for comms range yet, but they say if troops are out of range of the commander they can't take any action.

What? That's definitely not right.

From the showcase site:
>Ordering a unit in the command phase simply places an order token next to that unit. Then, during the activation phase, you have a choice—activate a unit that you ordered during the command phase, or draw a random order token from your order pool, which forces you to activate a unit of the same rank.

That makes a lot more sense, thanks.

>Defensive retrofits are mostly not good.
Was largely irrelevant when the problem was you had no platform for them. Prior to wave 5 and the Arq bringing us Tua every Imperial ship save the ISD II could be shut down by a single accuracy+XI7 turbos.

Yeah. Every unit activates every turn; commands just allow you to control which goes when.

If you've got five units, and issue commands to two of them, you can activate those two at will. But the other three, you gotta draw a unit type at random. If they're all the same type, then it's whichever you want; but if they're different types, then it's semi-random.

Yeah, I was speaking vis-a-vis having two on the MC80. Like I said, ECMs are absolutely fantastic. It's not the slot you were missing, it was that specific card in particular.

I read through the rules and it makes a lot more sense now. The guy I played with had read them and apparently mistook them. The problem only came up during a couple times so it wasn't a huge deal. The game was still a lot of fun and I think I was able to experience most of the mechanics.

Like I said I really like the card involvement. Too much of mini games is just move and fire. These change up the fight, and having the cards makes building the armies easy.

Shoot them in the chest. With a flechette shotgun.

Duh.

Okay, so, stupid thought, but All jedi/sith can do that "Take apart/ Build your lightsaber telekenetically" thing, and i remember reading somewhere that the reason for this is to attune the saber with you/ because its all too finicky otherwise. Now, stupid question, but could a Jedi make a Blaster the same way? Maybe use one of those force sensitive crystals from Dantooine as a focusing crystal?

Blasters don't use crystals normally. They pretty much just shove gas into a small chamber, excite it with power from a battery pack, then shove it through a barrel which shrouds it in a magnetic sheathe. The blasters that the clones used were ionized as well, adding some other energy factor to the bolt.

A blaster using a kyber crystal would be especially devastating from everything we've seen, as a kyber crystal somehow multiplies the power put through it.

Yeah. Pic related.

I would assume they can do that with any object they are that familiar with/attached to, of a reasonable size.

Wait now that I'm thinking about it, Mace did that in the Gennady Clone wars to a Super Battle droid.. so yea.

Force telekinesis is a killer at high levels.
>SBDs? Imma gonna unscrew ALL your bolts with my mind, bitch!
>Landspeeder? Have fun driving with no steering/brakes/power.
>Pointing a blaster at me? Your blaster is now a high-tech Mechano kit.

I'm in wait-and-see mode. I want the models to be hard plastic, not the soft stuff like Imperial Assault, Descent, and Rune Wars. And I want to know we're getting more factions than just Empire and Rebellion.

I'm not sure how big of an effect power tokens will have, since the only figure that hands them out on its own for Rebels is pretty flimsy for the cost. Maybe Ko-Tun will be playable because of her extremely long range, pair her up with elite Rangers. I don't know. We'll see when we actually can play with the stuff.

Oh, but you definitely are right about theme players being happy for the Vader, Han, and Chewie fixes.

Have the elite Sentry Droids (or Riot Troopers, or Clawdite) been spoiled yet? I haven't seen them anywhere.

Oh interesting. Do you remember where he said that so I can see it in context?

Twitter.

Ever wanted to play a retired clone? Now there's rules for that shit.

Also apparently 5 more universal specs for a total of 6.

>So, what do you think, Rex? Is your age of heroes finally over?
> I'm no hero. Never was. Never will be. I'm just an old killer, hired to do some wet work.

Cheers

I'm very intrigued by the new specs. Maybe there will also be Partisans? The should have a thing saying that when you get a Despair, you can opt to err on the side of civilian casualties instead of what the DM wants to do with it.

I wonder what other specs and races we will get in the book.

Annoyingly, they've found my one weakness; player options. Put specs or races in a book, and I am more likely to buy it. Damn them!

6 universal specs is pretty crazy

I'm a little miffed that the clone option is meant to be a more passive set of buffs, but I'll wait to see the full tree

Eh, looking at the example it seems fair. It's basically there to represent a lifetime of training and combat experience, it's not really replacing your regular career spec - just shows how your character has a superior base than others with some EXP in it.

Makes a great spec if you do like mixed EXP levels and say an older character plays a babysitter at like Knight level while the others stay at normal starting out.

Could be kind of interesting for like an F&D campaign, a Knight-level EXP Clone Commando or ARC watching over some babby Jedi, he's too old for this shit. Balance it with the GM occasionally handing out black dice for his bad back or his PTSD or whatever.

Any idea how Compulsive Move works?

When you activate you make a full speed move. Doesn't count as one of your two actions.

So if I take Aim action on a speeder bike, I get a free compulsory move, but if I take Aim and Dodge as my two actions, I only get the one free move?

With a speeder bike, you HAVE to start your turn by making a full, speed-3 move. Then you get your 2 actions like normal.

Uh, yes? I'm not exactly sure what you're asking.

You have to move at full speed when you activate. You can then spend your two actions like normal - you can aim, then dodge; or even move, then move a third time.

Thanks. That is how we played it, so I'm glad we did it right.

Nice, Gigorans!

I wonder how many species will be in this book?

I can see

Rebels:
>Lasat

Rogue One:
>Cold Climate Mon Calamari
>Tognath
>More Human types like Alderaanians and Chandrilans?
>Iakaru
>Drabatan

How do you guys know so much about Legion when it's not even out yet?

but still only as powerful as the tibanna gas can hold? since the kyber would up the efficiency of the exciter, but the gas still has to contain it all.

>rex gets shot

Please do not underestimate my information gathering network

I'm just surprised that it's so hyped that people are up on the latest ruling guesses even though it's not out yet.

I take it you're buying Legion ASAP?

Are there stats for these?

>people are up on the latest ruling guesses even though it's not out yet.
>guesses
please, do not underestimate my information gathering network

>I take it you're buying Legion ASAP?
probably

>Boss, get down! The enemy sniper--

Can you use the Aim action to aim grenades? Or the Precise upgrade?

The unofficial rules says Recover un-exhausts all cards. Does that mean all of their cards, or does that mean any cards that were exhausted? Like can I have a trooper recover to un-exhaust Luke's force dodge? And do you get to pick up all your order cards and return them to your hand when you take a recover action?

Hey /swg/ I don't post on this general usually, so sorry if this is a common question, but at this point have you decided to scrap the official canon and just decide for yourselves which books/comics/games/guides/even movies are canon?

Grenades are just a normal attack die, so probably

All of that units cards that were exhausted. Doesn't affect other units or your commands.

Still waiting on Zeltron and Nagai.

That's the cutest little tankette I've ever seen.

I wouldn't be surprised if this shows up in Legion.

First it has to show up in Rebels/TLJ/whatever the young Han Solo movie will be called.

>young Han Solo movie

Don't fucking remind me.

How do you get your commands back?

I don't think you do. The game only lasts six rounds, after all.

IIRC, there's a "Standing Order" card with the lowest initiative and weak token spread, but it returns to your hand when used - all others so far are discarded.

Which saber tree is the best if you don't consider other skill trees?

My group has mostly stuck to Legends, though some nucanon stuff will occasionally show up in our campaigns (usually vehicles, starships, and planets) if we can do something sufficiently cool with it. For instance, TLJ's swole AT-AT was the centerpiece of our last session. Pic very related.

That's a damn good question that I don't have an answer to. Theoretically one could construct a blaster that is just a smaller-scale version of what the Death Stars used - in fact, that's what the First Order's capital ships use for their main guns.

Whether that can be made handheld, bypassing the gas requirements, is a good possibility. I can see it being a research project that the Empire put into place alongside the Death Star superlaser project.

I love the touches of teal/turquoise on the undersuit and Black armor on the officer.

And the straight up teal/turquoise armor on the medics.

I was moreso wondering how easy they'd be to sell.

Isn't that the only way to stay sane as a SW fan?

Clone human, to go with the clone spec

I personally disregarded everything Disney the same way Disney disrespected the OT.

Im so bored of the FFG theme and feel. Maybe I'm just bored of star wars.
