DnD is utter garbage

I honestly hate DnD, and I don't want to go in to the DnD-thread to ruin their fun, so let's have a thread about how fucking shit DnD is. It is an archaic game that survives on nostalgia and being well-known, it attracts people who don't know better (young and/or stupid people) and then these people will never graduate from it because they've sunk time in learning it, and have nostalgia for it.

As someone who started roleplaying with systems such as WoD and some lesser known Swedish rpg's, and tried DnD later at the behest of a friend, all I can say is... it is shit.

It is LITERALLY a board-game version of an MMORPG, the systems and mechanics are exactly the same. Health points, health potions, healing spells, spell-slots, daily powers etc etc. I've never been as bored when player PnP-rpgs as when trying to play the glorified tactical board game that is DnD.

Discuss and unloa dyour hate, you will feel better.

>WoD fan bashing on D&D
Did I just go back in time 20 years?

God, I miss them. Remember Totemist Quest? That was a fun quest.

No, quests sucks ass as well and I'm glad they are gone. Go shit up another thread, this is for hating DnD.

Though now people are allowed to hate quests here as well.

Crab Quest, where we were a crab that built an itty-bitty civilization of crabs.

We fought hagfish and didn't afraid of anything.

It is indeed bad and I wouldn't recommend it
but if people have fun with it that's great.

>It is LITERALLY a board-game version of an MMORPG, the systems and mechanics are exactly the same. Health points, health potions, healing spells, spell-slots, daily powers etc etc.
uh, it's more like mmorpgs are computer versions of dnd, desu senpai

>Claims to have played other RPGs
>still thinks DnD is crunch heavy
Doubt intensifies.

Can't you like something without hating something else? It's not like people are coming to your house and making you play D&D by force.
I know this is Veeky Forums, but you sound like an autistic.

Have you tried not playing 4e?

Nobody said it was crunch heavy.

>spell-slots
>daily powers
>MMORPG
ufuckingwotm8

Can't I acknowledge the things that are bad and berate the people who like bad things? That is 99% of human history.

Haha you idiot, you didn't specifcy which edition of D&D, so suck a big fat cock, like the faggot you are. The OSR and lately 4e have gotten decently big to make these kinds of threads obsolete, because D&D definitely has good editions

>I know this is Veeky Forums, but you sound like an autistic.
OP makes a thread about hating D&D every day.

They are just different flavors of shit.

Not really. Maybe the "archaic" part of your criticism applies, but saying Basic or OD&D is a "board-game MMORPG" is idiotic for several reasons.

Health potions? Have you ever seen someone play it? I played it for years and I seen two, both of which were given away as gifts by a druid with herbalist kit.

Or maybe MMORPGS are literally computer-games version of DnD? That would make sense because one is 40 years old and Mmorpgs are 20 years old.

>WoD fan

oh now I'm 100% sure you are trolling

Evens up Risus is pretty much the best role playing game anyways, so why bother.

>WoD
That isn't a game though it's just a front for goth orgies.

Everything you described in your autistic third chapter rant predates videogames

Which changes nothing.

What do you like about other systems compared to d&d?

Most D&D is shit. For combat focused action fantasy, 4e is really good.

I hate that WotC D&D almost perfected itself in 4e, but then they abandoned it for 5e.

For pre-WotC feel you got OSR anyway.

This thread is pathetic on so many levels.

OP, I honestly feel sorry for how stupid you are.

False and backasswards logic. Also, no you can't; because it accomplishes fuckall and makes you look like you practice autism on a grand level. Neck yourself.

You're a flavour of shit. Whiny Faggot flavour.

Retard.

It's not that I hate D&D (though I'm starting to, every combat feels the same with the same people casting the same spells and etc.), it's that my group doesn't want to try anything else.
Everyone is new (started the same time I did, when we began DnD) and the only person who wants to try something else is the DM, and we've been playing DnD weekly for like 8 months straight, and no one even wants to try any other system, none of them like sci fi, and I've wanted to try Dark Heresy(or any of the 40k rp games), Star Wars, wfrp 2e cause I don't want to buy that shit for 3e, some cthulhu systems (2? I'm not sure how many there are, I wanted something investigation focused), shadow run, deadlands, and a system or 2 set in the apocalypse/post apocalypse(any other systems worth noting that aren't apocalypse world and powered? Just curious) or anything else that looks interesting that comes along and no one wants do shit other than DnD because they're lazy or unimaginative. And after their first 2 campaigns they want to run tomb of annhilation. Yipee. /blog

then I missed out

OP is a faggot.

Worst thread of all Veeky Forums boards right now.

Congratulations, OP.

Worse than this?

It's the board game version of a rougelike actually. I mean something like dcss is pretty much just dnd but single player computer version

i dunno OP, i hate D&D combat for being slow and tedious (half an hour for like a few turns happens in 20 seconds playing baldurs gate) . but berating it for having spells and clearly defined abilities is retarded.

...

We have this same thread every day. It's an expansive hobby, you autists don't need to circlejerk over how much you hate D&D day in and day out.

Here's your (You)

A thread died for this, cocksucker.

Autism kills.

The mental image of our mod carefully pruning all mentions of quest threads from bait threads while leaving the bait threads themselves is hilarious.

It's because it's pretty well known at this point that Questfag makes these kinds of threads as false flags to turn around and point out, "See? The board's dying without us!" Why else do you think he's so consistently the first one to reply to these threads EVERY time?

Glad it looks like he's finally getting shut up.

It's shit, but it's well marketed shit. Everybody in the hobby knows of it at the very least, and probably has played it.
Personally, I'd rather play The Riddle of Steel or Wushu or Legend of the Wulin, but those have odd rulesets and in some cases need heavy modding for the setting, to be done with the players'help... it's a fun mess, but a mess nonetheless.
D&D, in any edition including PF, is bland as fuck and more out of balance than your chakras, but it takes a special group to try other systems without imploding.

>Tabletop Hipster
Disgusting.

>Listens to any music other than Bieber
Disgusting

If you can ignore approximately 50% of the weirdness and rules, Palladium is legitimately pretty good. You have to tweak it alot, but it CAN be fun

>It's because it's pretty well known at this point that Questfag makes these kinds of threads as false flags to turn around and point out, "See? The board's dying without us!" Why else do you think he's so consistently the first one to reply to these threads EVERY time?

Newfag. "I miss quest threads" is just a Veeky Forums meme that means "I think this thread is a shitty bait thread".

>It is LITERALLY a board-game version of an MMORPG,

Uhhhh, DnD came *first.* The MMOs are computer game versions of DnD.

I’m a very heavily narrative-oriented guy, and I think D&D is pretty okay, even though it’s not my favorite system. I’ve had some good times playing it, even though I’m nearly the stereotype of the person who always forgets how the modifiers work. I have only two complaints:

1) People do try to use D&D to run campaigns that would work better with other systems, sometimes. This is understandable, but it can be somewhat aggravating if you aren’t particularly attached to D&D.

2) I find 3.5’s inadvertent emphasis on “builds” annoying, because I don’t enjoy character optimization. I think everyone agrees that 3.5 isn’t balanced, though.

4e isn’t my cup of tea and I wouldn’t want to play in a 4e campaign, but I can see why some people really like it.

I have no idea why the Traditional Games board should engage in some sort of Two Minutes’ Hate session aimed at Dungeons and Dragons. This is stupid. Fuck you, OP.

Tell me more about quests I never partook in one.

Are they like rpg narrative story telling light?

Fucking troll go away. U and your fucking Anne Rice Mary sue shit...

>not feeling the thrill of discovering and exploring an interesting new setting and/or new rule systems
absolutely disgusting

Even though your opinion is shit, I respect that you didn't ruin the other threads with it.

>Are they like rpg narrative story telling light?
Pretty much. Quests are actually the reason Veeky Forums has a dice-rolling feature.

Here's one with a lot of pictures if you want to look at it:
