Chapter Creation thread

RISE, WARRIORS OF THE EMPEROR! The High Lords of Terra call upon us to fight in the Emperor's name! Roll a 1d10 to determine why our chapter was founded!

...

Rolled 6 (1d10)

I can't believe I've done this.

>Counter - "There are Orks over here! Found a Chapter!" "But it'll take 50 ye-" "Do it!"
Well, we've got that going for us! We were made to counter a threat.

Roll d100 to find out WHEN we were founded now.

Rolled 59 (1d100)

'Ere we go!

>38th millennium
Surprisingly recent. Roll a d100 to determine our chapter's progenitor. Pray to the Emperor it's not the fucking Ultras.

Rolled 30 (1d100)

Well ya tried, but we're Ultramarines successors. Roll a d10 to determine the purity of our geneseed.

Rolled 1 (1d10)

NONE PURER

NONE PURER INDEED! Our geneseed is as pure as our progenitors, which is to say PURE AS FUCK.

Roll a d10 to find out our chapter's demeanor.

Rolled 1 (1d10)

Always angry, all the time!

Swift as the Wind - we prefer lightning-fast assaults and quick vehicles. Not too unlike the White Scars, honestly.

Roll a d100 to determine our figure of legend.

Rolled 90 (1d100)

We must purge at EXTREMELY high speeds.

Rolled 7, 2 = 9 (2d10)

Rollan for company+squad of this brave boy.

So we've got a battle-brother in the 2nd squad of our 7th company as our figure of legend? Not fuckin' bad.

Roll a d100 to figure out WHAT exactly this brave soul did.

Rolled 69 (1d100)

Hopefully something VERY PIOUS

Rolled 23 (1d100)

He killed the bad men! Praise be to this battle brother!

Most righteous.

>The hero led a glorious campaign against a rebel army, defeating the foe and bringing an entire sector back into the light of the Emperor.
Well we're in luck, he's done ultimately the greatest deed of all, he's saved the citizens of the Imperium from the darkest depths of heresy!

Roll a d100 to find our homeworld.

Rolled 7 (1d100)

He's also a legend in the bedroom as well it seems

Rolled 85 (1d100)

Welcome to SPEEDWORLD.

>Hive world
Well that's not a lot of room to go fast, but we seem to manage. Roll a d100 to find the terrain for our little speed hive.

Rolled 73 (1d100)

We draw exclusively from the hardy bike-riding messengers that deliver news between hives during frequent communications outages, of course!

Rolled 34 (1d100)

It's a hive sized race track of course

>wasteland
I'm liking where this is going! We're starting to sound Mad Max as fuck. Roll a d10 to determine how we rule said asphalt wasteland.

>It's a hive sized race track of course
That sounds metal as fuck too, we'll roll with it.

Rolled 7 (1d10)

Rolled 6 (1d10)

Rolled 3 (1d10)

Can we keep the "recruits from inter-hive bike messengers" idea? Might be a cool theme.

>Distant rule - "You see that castle up there? It's inhabited by the mighty sky-warriors of Emp-rar. Sometimes they come and steal our children."
I fucking like it! Roll a d10 to figure out our organization, AKA our Codex loyalty.

Rolled 6 (1d10)

Codex: White Scars loyalty, baby!

Rolled 3 (1d10)

The only rule we need is the redline

Rolled 1 (1d10)

c'mon divergent

Works for me.
We're a divergent chapter, boys! FUCK the Codex!

Roll a d10 to determine our combat doctrine, or HOW we fight fast as fuck.

Rolled 5 (1d10)

I swear to god if we get siege

Rolled 1 (1d10)

>divergent ultramarine chapter
Perfect

>lightning strike
HERE WE FUCKING GO. We're fast as fuck, all the fucking time. Roll d100 for our special equipment, the unique weapons we bring to the battlefield.

Rolled 10 (1d100)

WOOOO

Rolled 56 (1d100)

was it all a big mix up and we're actaully white scars but the paperwork says ultramarines?

>Traditional Weapon: The Chapter favours one specific weapon over all others. Choose one specific weapon to serve as the Chapter’s traditional weapon. Examples: Power Sword, Bolt Pistol, Melta Gun
Well this'll be fun. We've got a preferred weapon type that we use while we ride into battle. Maybe we can find something that fits into our biker lifestyle?

Roll a d100 to find out our chapter's beliefs.

Rolled 5 (1d100)

What's the fastest gun?

That doesn't even make sense

>Revere the Primarch - "Our Spiritual Liege is better than yours!"
Looks like we really are Ultramarine successors at heart. Roll a d10 to find out what strength we ride at.

Rolled 6 (1d10)

Assault cannons are pretty fast

Rolled 4 (1d10)

WE RIDE INNUMERABLE, SHINY AND CHROME.

>Nominal: The Chapter can field ten full companies, each with ten squads. In all likelihood most every squad consist of ten brethren and some specialised appointments may be empty, but the Chapter is regarded as fully fit for battle.
At full strength, brothers, we ride! Roll a d100 to find out who we're friendly with.

Rolled 81 (1d100)

Rolled 45 (1d100)

Admech pls, we need lots of fast vehicles

Rolled 93 (1d100)

was first and got trips but rolled AdMech so I wanna do that. I doubt anyone would object.

Who are our enemies? Roll a d100. I've got some real life shit to attend to now so I can't keep the thread going from here. If someone else could pick it up I'd be appreciative.

Rolled 47 (1d100)

Okey dokey so the chapter enemies are the nids

Guy who originally suggested the thread here, I'll take over. Just switching to my desktop now

Rolled 51 (1d100)

Of course, the foul tyranids! Now, let's go back and fill in some blanks.
What's our chosen weapon? We've got a suggestion for the assault cannon from , but what other options would be suitable for our noble chapter of speed-hungry maniacs?

Power spears

Power spikes on the tires of our vehicles

Unless anyone else has a suggestion to make, I think we'll go with the power spear! Due to our history with the tyranids after saving the sector from foul rebels, we also make use of assault cannons to thin the xenos hordes on the rare occasion that we aren't simply riding over the top of them.

This is also bretty gud, and I can see our band of mad max bikie postmen doing it as well.
Now, we need a name for ourselves! What's the chapter called?

SMPS

Space Marine Postal Service

>Now, we need a name for ourselves! What's the chapter called?
Lightning Legion
That's all I got

kek
A good name, if a little vanilla.
I'd like to propose Heralds of Deliverance, considering our chapter history.

This.... is an actually good idea. Biker marines recruited to send messages to commanders across no mans land.

I mean if we're recruiting from the most epic of messengers who is to say on the battlefield they wouldn't be those marines that would deliver that important order the fastest.

When chaos knocks out communications what can we do? We have the SMPS! A legion almost as fast as the White Scars who will make sure no weather, no xeno, nor foul heretic will prevent them from delivering that message!

I mean, we send messages to ENEMY commanders too. They're mostly just the tip of a power lance delivered at highway speeds.
As much as I love the concept, Space Marine Postal Service is a tad goofy. Could we get the same concept across in a more Adeptus Astartes sounding fashion?

Also, let's decide what the deal was with our chapter hero, and then we'll take a look at the rebels we pushed out (I'm feeling an interstellar genestealer cult, given that we have beef with the nids). Tell me a tale of high adventure, and of our bike-riding battle brother!

I mean yeah but how can we keep the SMPS spirt but make it more... cool

Make them masters of battlefield coordination among them and their allies?

I was meaning more of the name

They deliver messages both metaphorically and literally. Sometimes they send their unparalleled biker marines to ride through the harshest conditions imaginable to ensure that a missive reaches an ally, and sometimes they deliver hope to an allied force by arriving in the nick of time, breaking the enemy lines with a massed bike charge while assault cannon equipped Dreadnoughts lay down massive amounts of suppressing fire.

>I was meaning more of the name
Just go Herald's of Deliverance like said.
It's suitably spacemarine-ish and it's still a joke about delivering mail

The Lightning Heralds

I like both of these but backing Heralds of Deliverance

Yesss

Looks like Heralds of Deliverance is the most popular choice.

So, what did our legendary battle brother do? Did he deliver a vital message that turned the tide of a war, or did he slay an enemy commander with a well-placed strike from his power lance?

>Why not both

He jumped across an entire battalion of tyranids on a suped up powerbike and landed on their leader, killing them instantly and winning the battle

Delivered a Parcle to a Nord Queen.

I love it. Perhaps the rebels we routed were a proto-genestealer cult, and three thousand years later the Hivemind finally arrived for round 2? Unfortunately for them, our as-yet unnamed battle brother had a bike, a vortex grenade and balls of starship-grade adamantium. What was his name, and what happened to him after completing a stunt that would have made Evel Knievel weep tears of joy?

Ewall Knifefall

Yes it's trying to be Evel Knievel without it being exactly

id be down for that

I dig it. Brother Knifefall, armed with only his trusty lance and a vortex grenade, launched his bike off an outcrop onto the back of a gargantuan Tyranid dominatrix, expertly landing a vortex grenade in the hollow housing the norn queen. With the grenade's detonation, the dominatrix and its cargo were sucked into the Immaterium, their loss disorienting the xenos and leading to a decisive Imperial victory. But what became of noble brother Knifefall?

Sticking a landing that Evel Knievel would be proud of complete with fuck ton of explosions in the background. Maybe his armor all covered in soot with a few holy seals on fire... and sunglasses

Holy symbols on fire are cool. How about chapter adopted that and produce special symbols that start burning when high air friction is applied.

Do they start burning to show that they have gone fast?

Apart from his eternal enshrinement as hero of the Chapter, what was Brother Knifefall's legacy? Is he still active as of the Ultima Crusade, or has he joined the ranks of the Brothers Gone, which I'm putting forward as the name for our dreadnoughts? Is he, dare I say it, the chapter master?
I dig this. Burning Aquilas attached to the front of the bikes that cause any sufficiently fast battle brother to look like he's undergoing reentry heating?
They start burning WHEN you go fast.
This is my favourite thread to come out of Veeky Forums in a while, and I'm already looking at forge world bitz to convert up some lancebikes.

Disoriented from the landing, Knifefall had little time to clear the area before the detonation of the vortex grenade.
As result, all of his body below the torso was caught in the resulting tear in reality.
He was presumed dead until 3 days later;
Knifefall was spotted clutching the handles of his power bike while riding to the central command post.
A trail of various Tyranid bits following his path for an unreasonably long distance.
After being equipped with the finest bionics available, he served admirably for years to come.

Maybe Brother Knifefall started a stunt squad within the Herald's of Deliverance or if he became the chapter master after a stunt like that he took to also recruiting not only the fastest messengers but those who could pull epic stunts.

I'd like to think Brother Knifefall is still active.

YES BURNING AQUILAS!

YEEESSSSS. MECHA-KNIFEFALL. How did his service end? Did he die bringing hope to the citizens of the Imperium, was he entombed into a dreadnought or did he simply vanish?

He eventually fell in battle, riding a constant circle around a number of helpless imperial citizens.
As a result his organic matter was immolated by the engine of his powerbike, and his bionics and lance enshrined so as to serve as reminders of his great sacrifice for the Imperium of man.

He died as he lived, bringing hope to the innocent. Now that we've established our hero, let's focus a bit more on the chapter itself. What are our colours?

Black, with white and gold.
Lightning motifs errywhere.

Maybe if we stick with undergoing reentry colors?

That just looks so cool in my head that they are always going top speed!

How are we from the Ultramarines?!

>How are we from the Ultramarines?!
We see our descent from the Ultramarines a reason to go even further as a chapter.
Always rising above the words and actions of our progenitors.

He disappeared after loading himself, his bike, and a combat knife into a ship mounted cannon and launched himself directly into a tyranid bioship. This is now known as “the final stunt” and when a space marine of our chapter grows to the age of knifefall when he did his final stunt he commemorates the act by launching himself into a tyranid ship and killing as many dirty insects as he can.

Reentry colors will make actual fires look bland. I think blue or black.

because NONE PURER than us can go THE EXTREAM SPEED

YES
Wait what if the original colors were changed to Soot Black after Brother Knifefall's Norn delivery

I like soot black. Scorched from SPEEEEEED

I dig the sooty base colour, maybe with some bright trims or some form of calling attention to ourselves. I'm thinking bright orange lenses to represent the fires of hope that every battle brother carries within himself. Any further ideas?

Yes that sounds so badass

This thread is just as amazing as the 40k gods Iron Chef thread

I'm working on a Bolter & Chainsword mockup of the colour scheme at the moment. Do we have any particular visual themes or aesthetic quirks with our armour or vehicles? The smurfs have their greco-roman dealio, the blood angels put wings on everything. What's our motif?
You're amazing as well, user.
