Flakey Players

Every GM has experienced multiple times trying to set up a game online, at a local game shop, or even at a con, only to have players flake out and never show. Hell, sometimes literally no one shows.

A majority of you are players. Tell us about a time you signed up for an RP and never went. Feel free to tell us about a con event, or even offering to join a Veeky Forums GameFinder game.

Why did you sign up? Why didn't you go? Let's get some answers to the age old question that has plagued GMs since the beforetimes.

I bailed on Skype games multiple times because my wife kept grabbing my dick and wanting attention. DM is a close friend and laughed when i told him later. He said he would have done the same. I got away with it because outside of those incidents(about 4-5 times over 15 sessions) I was never late and always participated fully. Also another player would be a No-Call-No-Show and leave us waiting for an hour before we would just not play.

I do it every time just for the laughs.

I once bailed on college RPG club meeting. I already had a group and didn't feel like taking a 20-40 minute commute to watch randoms play.

>letting your wife call the shots instead of getting her to participate in a hobby you enjoy
I think I can hear the whip cracking from here.

>Why did you sign up? Why didn't you go?
Why did you stay home, Cotton-Eye Joe?

I have to admit that with my long lasting group, I flaked several times because I really didn't want to play. I was in a shitty mood, I was too tired, I wanted to do something else, or the players/GM annoyed me at the last session or something like that and I just plainly didn't show up. I have done it multiple times as a GM too.

It's nowhere near an habit, it happens sometimes, and I usually end up with a made up excuse.
The fact that we play mainly online make me feel less guilty about it, because nobody has to travel to get there, prepare a meal or something like that.

>the whip

You are talking about his penis right?

I had a very close group of college buddies. We gamed regularly, but these boys had ADHD for games. We'd get a few months I to a campaign and they would lose interest and we'd never finish a story line or get past like 5-7th level equivalent. I was so sick of it as a story driven gamer.

Super bro was running a Seventh Sea campaign and I could already feel the desire to call it after a few more games building up. I finally just ditched a game that was literally a 5 min walk from my house because I just couldn't be bothered to gp and invest further in a game that was going to end.

My ex was really, really needy, and I had very little free time due to a large number of obligations, so I flaked occasionally. When she got into the group, I flaked less, but I was still short on time. It was all among friends, and I was regular enough and good enough at roleplaying, so they didn't mind all that much.
Based.

>my penis that my totally hot wife that i totally have that totally get sucked all the time.

was right, your "wife" has you as a bitch if she is even real. Is she a fatty? are you a numale? Or are your a Turbo Virgin?

NONONO wait! your a super sexy handsome man with a big money job and 10 super hot and sexy women who slave for your alpha 12' cock?

i have never bailed on a group but i had 3 friends bail to smoke pot in a creep's basement. Faggots could smoke pot while playing but the creep gave free weed.

COnsidering I usually play for 8 hours a week missing a session here and there to get ass is perfectly fine.
I never said any of that you irredeemable faggot. Simply stated that I have flaked and the reason why. Stop projecting your insecurities onto my words.

To get ass and pay attention to her.

why don't you two bond better through different medias? Find better times for sex, and why not have a respect for your friendship? If you cant have both then your missing out. Your the one defending your self from shit talk over Veeky Forums, cowardliness bitch. supreme fucktard idiot.

who hurt you?

>WHY WOULD YOU CHOOSE GOOD SEX OVER PLAYING PRETEND WITH YOUR DUDEFRIENDS??

Spoken like a true virgin.

Broseph I play 32 hours of D&D a week, swapping a session here and there for sex doesnt mean shes disrespecting my friendship. either way I get the feeling you get triggered easily by others getting positive female attention. Don't worry you'll get there someday.

Ain't that the truth.

Not him, but I'd just ask my gf to wait until we're done. I get to have friends and do things I love, and she gets to have her fun afterward. It's basic scheduling.

>I can't keep a handle on my woman and let her dictate when the sex starts
>And I let her get away with this multiple times

Shadowrun, on a Veeky Forums GameFinder thread, years ago. I couldn't wrap my head around the decker rules, which is the only role they still needed and, via Skype, one of the people playing was complaining about how shitty he thought the music I listened to was. I didn't care, it's just what I like, so I turned it down to where no one could hear it, but he just would not shut up about it. Stuck around after the initial, "who's playing what," non-session, just to bitch.

I can't remember for sure, but I don't think I've ever not shown up for a game, online or in real life. In general I show up where I say I will, when I say I will. Can't stand people who don't.

>I bailed on Skype games multiple times because my wife kept grabbing my dick and wanting attention.

You need to realize how sex is used as a weapon. She could have picked any time, but chose to do it when you were indulging in a hobby she doesn't share. You need to read that sign for what it is, brotato.

what kind of people do you play with? I haven't had that once. no DM in my core group has had that, if someone or no one is going to show there is day(s) of notice. me and a few friends flaked on a dudes campaign once, but in my defense who wouldn't have when session one was this strange mess where we spent half the session trapped on the weirdest town tour ever, and by trapped I mean using pathfinder rules had to pass a DC 23 strength check to escape what was effectively Disney's small world ride complete with equally cringy anamatronics and obnoxious scenery. our barbarian was the only one who could make that and laughed at us as he left for a smoke because the DM couldn't handle split party well, then forced to explain your backstory, and every NPC conversation or interaction reeked of virgin fantasy. oh and two fights where, and note we we're level 3, we scared off a dozen dire wolves which caused zero damage to anyone, and a group of equally incompetent bandits.

tl;dr it was bad. real bad.

or know it, see it, understand it, then give no fucks because no guy is going to get upset that you flaked on a game to go have sex.

Wrong, but only slightly. Guys will be annoyed (because you're shitting all over their free time), but will understand (because fucking is fun).

that is a tactic best used after you have her dickwhipped. Until then your dudefriends will understand missing your chance to nail fictional women to go fuck a real one.

what kind of guys do you know? only time I that would annoy them is if it was every week or if it happened everytime plans got made, but the few occasions? nope it's cool

I tried playing at a game store a few towns over from where I live. I always got the feeling I wasn't wanted there, and I could see why after a while. The people there were obviously close friends (they shared in-jokes and shit, talked about events only they knew about, etc.) and being there kind of made me the odd one out. I bailed after about a month of awkwardly trying to be part of the group.

I've had friends flake out on games I wanted to set up. They gave me the usual excuses, which usually boiled down to "I've got other shit to do", so I kind of stopped trying until recently, with better luck thankfully.

Well crafted replies brother, but I see through them.

On topic, I leave because the retarded fuckwits the GM prioritizes over gameplay and roleplay is just not worth me contacting you to say, thanks but I'm out.

If you spend an hour and a half discussing fetishes, anime porn or anything you would not discuss publicly without negative consequences, I leave without a word.

Mine was an online thing.
>Basic campaign, 5e for new players
>I join up to get the hand of their play by post system
>GM shows up once a week to update the game
>Players post
>Halfway into the first battle it's been so long since I actually did anything, I spend more an more time looking back through the thread just to remember what the hell I'm doing.
>Players come and go after the battle
>More players come and go while we loot the corpses.
>By the time the adventure is going underway, I have to go on a road trip, and tell the GM to keep my spot warm, and just 'autopilot' my character till I get back.
>GM says that's fine
>Get back.
>Kicked from the game
>No explanation
>GM doesn't respond when I ask what's going on

I suffered first-time sperging and a bad character. I joined a shadowrun game from a gamefinder discord and made my first character in a vacuum- as a result I failed, hard on the first combat rounds and almost died to the first enemy retaliation. After realising that I'd fucked something up severely and my understanding of the rules was not going to immediately improve I had an autism moment and alt F4'd everything.

Now I'm waiting for that discord to forget about me then go looking for 5e games that I will research first.

>when some guy tries to sell Shadowrun to me as, "elegant" and then shows me the program you need to run that builds your character
