>Starfinder campaign themed around "magical schoolgirls using sci-fi technology and some magic to investigate and fight aeons, daemons, demons, devils, proteans, fallen agathions, fallen archons, fallen angels, and fallen azatas"

>set in a freshly-colonized star system (of many dozens of worlds!) lousy with one-way portals from the Outer Planes

>the star system has an odd quality to it that makes these outsiders invincible against conventional forms of attack and imperceptible, but this does not apply to youths chosen and empowered by the sun

There would probably be a house rule to fold Life Science and Physical Science together and use it to identify outsiders, just like Mysticism.

Is this idea any interesting? Would anyone sign up for it?

Any word on the pdf to Dead suns 2? cheers.

No.

Would rather chop off my own dick

sounds dumb as fuck.
where does this "magical girl" faggotry come from?
wtf is wrong with you?

Not even if they paid me.

So, why run incident on absalom station as a first session?

I just finished GMing my first session (ever) over roll20.

I think it went pretty well. They all had one to one in-character interviews with a dude called Captain Coogan about why they signed up/what their previous job was/ why they left etc prior to beginning the proper sesh. They had to escort an old cargo ship someplace but got attacked by pirates.

I call 'em the Drifters. They latch on to ships with grappling hooks and jetpacks, and weld their way in. A friend wrote a whole bunch of lore or these mostly human federations, as well, which I'm setting it in. the UFSC (United Free-space colonies) are kind of an underdog fledgling nation that's getting viscous bullied by pirates.

It's one of the only if not the only proper official module there is.

>other people having fun
>my game is dying
>im jelly

that map isnt real is it?
it doesnt look real.
my understanding is that the pact is a single system, not fucking half the galaxy

I’m willing to give it a try. I’ve wanted a SF game for a while. I’ll toss you a character concept when I get the chance.

No I just drew it up myself

I'm homebrewing the pact to be a large group of independant systems. Each planet described in the system is actually on a different solar system.

The hard colour is the owned territory while the soft colour is more of a sphere of control

I should probably make it smaller still, tho.

>I should probably make it smaller still, tho.
yeah its like... billions of systems as you have drawn it

Sounds amazing. EU or US? Also I never even looked at Starfinder's rules.

I can see it working out, though the potential for some really... unorthodox "Magical Schoolgirls" could make for great comedy.
>Vesk Magical Schoolgirl

hows the fishtits race coming along?

Wondering the same thing!

It comes out in two days, so it'll probably be available pretty soon after that. Seems like nobody bothered to leak it, which I can understand - Alien Archive was a way more important book.

the fishtits are done and looking good, the pdf in on the last thread,

Heya, plant user here. Because so many people don't use Chrome and thus can't see homebrewery pages, I'm gonna host a PDF version of the Anthousas on google drive, so anyone making future threads should link that instead.

drive.google.com/file/d/0B_uga6da_8HoNjZvWmVvTWRvSlk/view?usp=sharing

The PDF will be kept up to date with any changes and additions made to the homebrewery in the future, such as race ships.

Best homebrew defensive item you can think of?

best as in strongest/highest numbers or best as in most interesting/fun

Personally the first thing my players asked about were shields. Like, strapped to your arm sort of shield. I haven't delved into the system enough to start running a game, let alone start working on homebrew stuff.

Can anyone give a quick list of things that are different from how they were in 3.5? Not like, classes or feats, but like the rules behind things.

looking for starfinder society #4 (cries from the drift)
is there an archive of all leaked PDF of starfinder anywhere ?

+1 KAC. Can't use that arm for weapon.
More advanced one can collapse and expand.
Energy shield is already an armor upgrade already.

Charge is now a penalty to attack.
No iterative attacks. Two types of AC.
5ft step is a move action no free.

So, what kind of music genres do you think exist in the starfinder verse?

Look in the Trove.

Currently there are 3 releases missing in PDF form.

1. Starfinder Core Pawn Box
2. Cries from the Drift
3. Starfinder Condition Cards

Lashuta scream jazz.
Vresk battle yodeling.
Shirren chitter rap.
Laser bluegrass

I want to like Starfinder and I pretty much do but the thing I hate the most about it is the magic system. It seems super lazy and uninspired. The magic doesn't seem sci-fi and seems more like regular old pathfinder magic but with fancy new futuristic names. Not to mention technomancer and mystic dont seem very different from one another and share alot of the same spells. What about you guys? What do you think of Starfinder's magic system?

Look at those spell lists again.
While they overlap on some of the generic useful for everyone stuff, the big things are separate.
Mystics get exclusive access to the brain/mind/soul stuff. Also nature and healing.
Technomancers basically get to cheat at tech.

Look at the special powers and this becomes more apparrent.

As for the different from fantasty magic, it's supposed to still be magic. The difference is how a lot of those effects aren't magic only. So you need to think more about what it being magic let's you do.

To add to this, mystic magic is able to do stuff tech often can't do. Technomancers are typically doing stuff tech can do, but get to avoid the time, or matterial or other requirement. Or enhance existing tech.

you forgot Dead Suns part 2

Kinda scares me how dead this thread is. Game is still new, talk about your sessions, your terrible players or GMs, what craziness you've gotten into!

>"Starfinders make excellent money selling star charts, survey data of new worlds"

How exactly ?
Drift travel is movement between Triune Nodes, like a Divine network. But to insert something new you have to go beyond the network.

Given that conventional travel between stars according to the CRB takes years at best if not decades and centuries how exactly is it possible to discover new stars since you cant really go there?

>an a
and also GM screen^^ (only found bad quality picture taken by phone)

sugar pop (PC's has to buy an album in starfinder society #1)

>hows the fishtits race coming along?
here they are. did some minor edits and proof reading. if anyone has any issues with them let me know and ill fix it.

changes:
1)expanded rules for chromataphores, since alot of the bard rules werent in it.
2)edits

remaining:
1)proofread
2)anything you want changed
3)place to host it so it can be put in the OP
4)combine nagartas system with turtles/plants?

They removed 7th, 8th and 9th level spells

Looks like somethings getting Rule Zeroed.

Drift Nodes/Beacons make travel easier and safer (think the webway from 40K) but that doesnt prevent people from making less safe jumps outside of them. Going From Hours-Days with beacons to Hours-Weeks depending on the jump.

There. Now its less Mass Effect..

Does anyone have a mechanic in their crew that ISN'T a ysoki?

in one of my 2 tables of players I have an android mechanic with an exocortex

I have a human mechanic with a little drone called Nadia Northstar.

I ended up becoming the dm so she's only really a sidecharacter now, though. Before, she was kinda gonna be a de facto protagonist.

>Drift travel is movement between Triune Nodes
Drift beacons in sufficient quantities change an area from the Vast to Near Space. They aren't necessary for Drift travel - they're necessary for doing so quickly. And it's noted that beacons are sometimes spontaneously generated.

There been any more word about the psionics book that got teased?

my girlfriend is playing a sarcesian mechanic with a panda-like combat drone named "panda"

Personally I've just been fluffing magic up as psionics in every context

We've got an android too. Don't leave them out, they've got the same Dex/Int bonus even if they don't have the skill bonus.

I wouldn't expect anything for a while, since they only announced that it'll exist eventually.

This something 3pp or Paizo?

Haven't gotten a chance to play yet, but i'm planning a one-shot for my group centered around drift plane-tearing shenanigans causing pirates to materialize aboard the ship. By which I mean flintlock-and-cutlass wielding golden-age-of-piracy pirates. Just trying to come up with some fun stuff that could come of this, maybe some little side quests and shit to resolve among the crew to get them to calm the fuck down from a confrontation they were having right before they got torn into another dimension.

DSP announced they're working on Psionics for Starfinder not that long after the CRB got released.

I had mine use jetpacks and grappling hooks to latch onto the hull and weld their way in

Anyone hast the Starfinder Pawns as a PDF ?

>nics for Starfinder not that long
you can make your own pawns easy with paint (or photoshop) and the different rulebooks in PDF. you can also make some PNG with GIMP if you are playing with roll20

what are pawns

Typically cardboard or paper pictures of PCs/NPCs/Monsters that you put on stands and use in place of minis, because they're much cheaper.

It's very hard to make a Scifi game, the scope is too large. It's why 40k rpgs are add ons.

I haven't GM'd a game before but because I'm more into space settings than my friends I'm trying to learn. I have one friend who almost ran a one shot to test the system but after looking through the player races got annoyed that they were all so generic and dull that he decided to run his scifi game using FATE.

So I'm still trying to get a handle of the rules. I'm paranoid because my only experience trying to run a game was doing a one-shot with an old chat room group and getting a troll who just wanted to fuck with everyone. It kind if kept me from ever running my own games.

A new space game that isn't 40k is enough to get me over that so that's pretty good. I still need the alien archive to go anywhere and I'm too paranoid about how well I know the rules.

The alien archive got leaked in this general earlier and is supposed to come out officially very soon. If it isn't out, then the NPCs found in first contact and the ones you can make up should be enough to tide you over until then.
It also comes with something like 25 playable races. I think pretty much everything intelligent with free will can get played as.

Starfinder is the first game I've GM'd and it seems pretty solid. It went rather well.
Try doing like a practice encounter with some monsters and just take a note of everything that goes wrong (if anything)
Assuming you've at least been a player for pathfinder or Dnd 3.5 then it can't be too hard.

Races are generic because the setting is supposed to have a very broad range. Vesk, Ysoki, Kasatha, Lashunta, humans and androids all kind of fill in the expected roles of these races, and all the -weird- stuff is in the beastiary.

>/sfg/ and /pfg/ threads don't have unrelated anime trash as their header image for every single thread.
>There are actual discussions about the game, instead of every post being about anime or ERP. Even if there is, it's at least way more on-topic.
>There's actual cool stuff being worked on that's not anime trash or ERP.
>The links actually work.

Is it usually that bad?

Also how have you tweaked the setting to suit your needs, and how has it affected the races?

I made put all of the pact worlds on separate solar systems (having every single important place be located right next to eachother was weird).

Also you sort of have to homebrew a lot of stuff reguarding monsters, as the beastiary is pretty sparse when it comes to a lot of things. It's sort of assuming you'll port them from pathfinder I guess.

Also I made ysoki more normal-shaped.

I'm annoyed because the GM is doing some ungodly Starfinder/Pathfinder chimera. Also he's autism spectrum and doesn't describe shit and doesn't let knowledge skills do shit, then gets mad that we don't have access to his brain. I'm thinking of quitting.

It's not every important place. Or at least that's not how I read it, it's just the home system if you want to run an game within a heavily civilized system.

It's in depth and a lot of worlds, but I think that was to let the players have many origins and a decent number of races, while still having them at thee more central location.

It also let's those worlds have a long history between them before the Drift was created.

>Is it usually that bad?
Used to be entire threads of Paizo Games General would go by in which nobody at all said anything of relevance. The threads move much slower now, but we're also not being drowned in bullshit.

I'm pretty happy with the way things are now.

anyone have clean versions of the Incident on Absalom Station adventure path's maps?

>Is it usually that bad?
Oh gods yes, it was horrible. I would never enter /pfg/ unless I wanted something to cringe at, and /sfg/ was like that for a bit from all the crazy /pfg/ people migrating over here. There was also the whole Paizo Games General /pgg/ that tried to put Starfinder and Pathfinder in the same thread, those were the worst offenders.

Just a few examples of stuff from /pfg/ and /pgg/
>Completely obsessed with kitsunes, anime girls with ears and tails kitsunes to be exact. People would talk about their magical girl kitsune characters using change shape ability for either cross-play or futa.
>Entire threads would just be people talking about their magical realms to the point where it should have been named /pferpg/.
>There were multiple different discord chats, with people saying which one was the 'true' discord chat, with those discord links only being posted in a thread that was weeks/months ago.
>Every thread, and I mean every single thread, was a picture of an anime loli wearing either shoestring or skintight clothing. But she was carrying a sword or gun so it's "totally related to Pathfinder/Starfinder guys" not that I have anything against 2D waifus, but posting it as the header for every single thread was not only repetitively stale, but just guaranteed that the thread would be shit
>People in /pfg/ would unironically say that you should never play a TTRPG unless it's Pathfinder, and that Pathfinder is the only good role-playing game system, and it's better to never play at all than join a TTRPG game that's not Pathfinder.

Now the rest, sure.

But I don't think the last one was ever true.

Whenever anyone ever asks 'is Pathfinder good' the answer was always 'no, now run, run for your miserable life far away from this place'

Anyone know of any other games which are ripe for stealing assets? Pic related is from d20 Future.

Don't forget the witch hunts. Don't confuse them with the ERP quest discussion too.

Star Trek/Wars, which have consistent threads. I think Infinity is also good to loot

How long until we get premade conversions of all the extraplaner baddies like Demons, Daemons, and Devils so i can run my Doom adventure?

Also when Necromorphs?

When more cyberware and bioware?

When more weapon customization?

Are there rules for pistol whipping or gun butting someone (like say in the dick)

>d20 Future.
>When more cyberware and bioware?
>When more weapon customization?

There's an interesting question - What can be looted from d20 Modern products?

Anyone got the next part of the AP yet?

>sfg/ and /pfg/ threads don't have unrelated anime trash as their header image for every single thread.

Oh just you wait, they'll come back. They always come back.

it took alot of work but i drove the animu faggots out of the OPs with relentless persistence. i endured alot of shitposting, but the animu holocaust was a success

>Oh just you wait, they'll come back. They always come back.
and i will be here to meet them.

This one isn't from the Incident on Absalom Station, just sayin'

anyone want to start making an adventure path?
or build the turtles more?
anyone wanna make stuff?

i guess ill post some stuff i found then

i want to make these guys as space attackers.
the float around in space using their jelly fish suits and attack people from asteroids and comets.

well if anyone is interested in building an adventure path, lemme know

That sounds like a pretty fun idea. I head out to work soon, but I'd be interested in helping out with this however I can.

This is my primary jellyfish inspiration.

This part as well. Honestly it's like Orks, and spores, but in real life.
