>Previous thread

Im going to have to clean my fridge before I photograph minis in there otherwise anons will call me a slob.

It's coming along

Well, reposting it now.
Did some work on the river, basecoat for the road and started the basecoat for all the tree roots.
Since somebody asked in the last thread, the river area will be covered with a textured plastic sheet and I'll be using mod pudge for the waterfalls.
Also, if the user who cares hasn't seen it yet, I ended up with an instagram account for my stuff: sira_haarsticks_stuff

Great stuff, bookmarked your Instagram!
How did you procure all that cork? Is it sold in thin layers?

I had half a plate of 5mm cork left around and ordered a 3mm one on amazon, could have gone down further. Turned out only 25mm bases are 3mm high, the next size already has 4mm, which a hardware store had stocked. All of them were 100cmx50cm. The one I ordered came rolled up. I have used up about four of them in total for this.

Imperial Assault painter here. Taking a break from my Bantha Rider and Tusken Raiders to paint up Han Solo, since he got a nice upgrade in the latest expansion. So far I'm through base-coating. Bloodstripe isn't great, but it's there.

Working on an officer for some feudalish IG. Need to add a lot of details but I'm starting to feel more confident in my ability to actually sculpt instead of just head swaps and doodads. Go figure not being able to find a cuirass I liked finally got me off my ass to practice it.

Absolutely gorgeous, the stairs especially pull together that ruins/alter site feel.

Started painting my Shaltari starter kit today. The spininess of the models + their longevity made me go for a bone scheme. I'm a beginner so advice/critique is welcome.

I like how you glued them to your ceiling, really sells the "space ship" angle.

I know it's not your game but Duncan's Warhammer stuff linked in the OP have plenty of broadly applicable techniques. Considering the models, try checking out

1. Dry brushing (great for making small details pop without have to pick each one out by hand)
2. Washing (looks like you already took a stab and this)
3. And maybe a guide on gem stones/reflection for the red bubbles.

currently working on my sylvaneth by painting up a few dryads, currently painting them up at this moment

Actually I'm just Australian

looks really good my man

Whats a good way to clean up mini's? Bought a shitton of AdMech from some guy on ebay and they're dusty as fuck.

A large old drybrush, a small makeup brush also works. or if you want to strip the paint from them just dunk em in superclean and a jewelry cleaner

I'm so fucking excited to paint Magnus, lads. I can't wait till he arrives.

What kind of fucking base can I possibly do for him? Build a custom egyptian temple from scratch? I got a good few scarabs from tomb kings kits to splash around.

Took several attempts but I finally found a method of basing and colour scheme that im pretty happy with.
Fridge is full of food im afraid. so this is the best photo I can get

>drybrush
It's working wonders thanks user

So got my Dreadnought mostly done, just needs some cleanup and transfers. Fucked up and used the wrong drill bit on one of the bolter barrels, and I'm considering painting it like it had the barrel blown.

very nice

Human-sized dark green stone obelisk

looks ready for the next level

Explain further

Just an idea. Pyramid seems like it would take up too much space, but based on this picture I would suspect you could easily fit something person-sized.

Sounds like a good plan. Curious to see how it turns out. If you don't end up liking it you could always fix it with greenstuff

Oh yeah definitely but it seems a bit too small for something of that caliber. It doesn't have to just out so much but maybe something high up to artificially increase height. It needs to be suitably grand.

Oh, and I tried a thing with the Eisenkern accessory sprue. I had to trim the neck a lot - otherwise he would have looked like a giraffe. I like it, though, something different.

Dark eldar oblivion themed junk terrain assembled primed and ready to paint.
Im actually quite astonishing at what you can make only out of plastic bottles and a few old plastic chopping boards.

Space Marine Svejk

I just like how happy he looks. The small smile plus the goggles makes him look like he's have a lovely day.

that haube is pretty pickley

Made some more marking for another old raider. Liked how this one turned out

I caved and decided to do the Lich anyway. Here he is pre washes/highlighting.

I'm painting his cloak the same as the human skin sort of look as my Necromancer. This Lich is what will represent him if I manage to attain Lichdom after the Thaw of the Lichlord campaign, so I decided to make his outfit similar.

Nice improvement. Keep up the good work.

Today I started a thing.

I love the aesthetic shift between old Imperial tech and the newer stuff. That dropship in particular is quite lovely. Godspeed user, it looks like a bitch to build.

I have attached the wings with a pair of 1/8" brass rods, each. Bitch or not, when I am done with this thing it will be able to fly for real.

There's no glue holding it together right now, either. That's all pin.

You could find a spare bolter and just surgically swap the barrel

That's a good idea, especially given forgeworld's propensity to expect you to attach two giant 5lb pieces of resin at one small join. I couldn't imagine NOT pinning it. Kudos though, I love the Custodes models.

Any advice on how to make your own washes? What's a good ratio to use?

Trying to paint tattoos, having some issues making them look like they're skin rather than just painted on though, is it just a matter of THIN MORE?

1 drop of paint: a shit ton drops of medium

It'll be good for ya' life, user.

Plus usually a bit of thinner and/or water to boot.

>mom's fridge: completely tetris packed with random frozen shit and weird ingredients she never uses
>my fridge: two hot pockets and expired milk

Is there a consistency that I should aim for?

and a Leman Russ Battle Tank

The consistency of a wash? Seriously, if you can't figure this out maybe you should stick to the pre-made stuff. You can also get inks if washes aren't cutting it for you, but those need to be thinned.

Refrigerators are usually bright white on the inside and always come with lights. It's like a lighting booth for your miniature photography built right in! Why WOULDN'T you put your minis in them?

I'm trying to speed through painting my basic MKIV dudes. How mandatory is it that I paint the weird harness thing on the MKIV armor? Would it be weird having it the same color as the armor (shaded and highlighted of course)? Same goes for then armor studs on the shoulders and legs. I've seen those armor colored many times, though.

Just paint the cables black. Studs can be metal or armor colored based on your preference. It just depends if the maintenance crew installed the studs before or after the paintjob.

>my fridge: 1.5 dozen expired eggs, empty serving tray from family party, a single beer from 4 months ago, a stick of butter, aloe gel, expired lunch meat

Let me guess: the aloe gel started out as an actual aloe frond.

No, actually. It's legit gel. I'm functionally a vampire and easily burn in the sun. However, I think I bought this bottle because of an actual burn from something.

What are all the cut out circles for? Are they bases for miniatures that'll be stuck there?

Here. Now you won't be the only one with a bad fridge.

And here he is done.

Just gotta put snow on all my bases from this past week and varnish everything.

>Go figure not being able to find a cuirass I liked

started on another Intercessor.
Painting skin is more enjoyable to me than power armour, I seriously think I might have picked the wrong faction

Because washes and highlights are actually much easier on small skin details than blank flat power armor that shows all your splotchy washes and failed highlights, despite the misconception that marines are easiest to paint.

Necrons and Orks are far easier to paint than a good looking marine.

You could be that guy that buys up all the unhelmeted heads people are too squeamish to paint

You pump those things out quick, man. He looks great, kudos.

Lol go to bed user

Reminder to always keep your warhammer in the fridge

Steps on getting the skin like that?

Also finished the Boss Nob Marine. Got 11 Boyz Marines to finish painting now. (just need to finish the arms and guns and glue them onto the main body)

Finished a batch o' gants. Refining my color scheme and technique.

Er, pic included this time.

>thumbnail looks like shit
>expand it to pick out details about why it looks like shit
>It actually looks nice

Good job user.

Thanks pal.

Beautiful. Proper contrast on the skin is something I've always struggled with.

>tfw everyone else's army looks like shit up close but good from tabletop distance
>tfw your army looks the shittiest from tabletop distance even though it's better up close

HAHAHA

Bases and models looking great. The red looks good but is still fittingly subdued and dingy.

Jesus Christ it's so perfect

Oi, they look damn fine from tabletop distance.

fridges, outdoors, wtf is next?

Fridges outside

Don't forget skelly user, who used his wife's behind as backdrop.

...

You got pics?

Sounds more exciting than it was.

So do you have pics?

I saved pics from his GW/perry kitbashes. Not his wife's ass.

Well post something that's useful to me

You're right, better throw a flashlight on there for good measure.

Been looking for a mini to approximate Goblin Slayer. So far the closest thing I've found is Golrick from Reaper, and I'd have to resculpt the feet. Anyone know of something better?

Gotta get back to sculpting some amazon space elf tiddys sometime when work isn't killing me.

>Been looking for a mini to approximate Goblin Slayer
In case you are referring to something specific it would probably help if you told us what you are talking about.

Didn't think anyone hadn't heard of it. Fantasy doom guy with autistic levels of goblin hate. Anyway, full body color shot.

I'm trying to find a way to put a stormbolter and a hunter killer missile on a chimera without using the pintle mount (I think the gun looks way too big on the turret that way). I'm a bit torn on this side-mount solution. What do you guys think? Does it look ok, or too busy?

looks fine to me

My Putrifier. This took 4 hours and I've only done basecoats and highlights. I still have washes, highlights, basing, gloss varnishing the bottles etc.
