Warmasters Triumvirate XXXII

A New Hope Edition!

Warmasters Triumvirate is an attempt at creating yet another 40k AU. The Primarchs have changed, and instead of appointing a single Warmaster upon returning to Terra, the Emperor is critically wounded on Ullanor. In order to make sure the Great Crusade continues, the Warmasters' Triumvirate is put in place. Tensions start running high and this eventually culminates in a civil war between Loyalists, Chaos Traitors and Separatists...

We now have a fully completed map with legion homeworlds and relevant planets, such as New Hope, which is the site of the start of the Brotherwar where the Union (Separatists) officially breaks away from the Imperium, and the Traitors reveal their true nature. Sotha is also included, which is the site that the Sothanids (Tyranids) go for, as it is never actually turned off. Sotha is used as a makeshift astronomicon for the Union

A chart detailing Primarch discoveries has been created for easier referencing

Important:

We have been discussing the political workings between Primarchs from Ullanor to the Battle of New Hope. This is a change from the previous idea of Elsu assassinating Malcador in different forms, allowing for confusion and fingerpointing between Loyalists and Seps.

Overview:

>Raj and a large force of Titan Marchers escort Emp's body back to Terra, stays there and becomes Praetorian of Terra. He stays there for 10 years and fortifies. Je'She, approving of this defensive strategy, also sends him the blueprints for a defensive perimeter of fortified systems around the Segmentum Sol, mainly manned by Titan Marchers and Sentinels. Je'She and Raj see this as a rational move whereas Marduk and Jon-Fred see this as political consolidation around Terra for their own gains
>The Ullanor Campaign takes longer to complete. Tensions run high between legions as tactical decisions conflict. Mainly Gyahdred and the Dusk Phantoms abandoning the Golden Mountains while fighting in a Hive City to fight Orks elsewhere, Gyahdred calculates the losses as acceptable. Je'She, angered, calls for an official rebuke. Tensions rise, and pushes Gyahdred towards Jon-Fred's camp.
> Post Ullanor, Warmaster Marduk's legions go north, Warmaster Jon-Fred's legions go east, and Warmaster Je'She's legions go south/south-east
>Cont

>Burned Zealot Kinnevail Kincaid begins to spread the Imperial Cult across the Galaxy. Je'She, who leads the legion contingency Kincaid is in, tolerates this as he has bigger fish to fry, mainly keeping the family together while continuing the Crusade, as well as dealing with Jon-Fred's and Marduk's proposals for forces of Dragoons and Leviathan Host to man the walls as well. Je'She considers this irrational for assualt specialists to man defensive structures, but permits Leviathan Host personnel to man orbital defensive systems on the ring. Jon-Fred sees this as an insult and a move of blocking his political influence, further cementing the view that Je'She wants Terra for his own, with his man Raj on the inside. Marduk sees this as an opportunity to sabotage the orbital systems later for when he strikes for Terra, and bides his time
>Jon-Fred also does not approve of Kincaid's fanaticism, and condemns Je'She's tolerance. Seeing it as a perversion of what their Father wanted

Will continue more, but I have to go to work. Others are welcome to pick up the summary

While this is going on, Malcador begins preparing a move of power from Crusade forces to the mortal High Lords of Terra. When Malcador announces his plans, reactions vary. Je'She formally announces support, while Marduk stays characteristically silent. Jon-Frederic outraged, but decides against taking steps at that moment.

In the years that follow, Jon-Fred decides to take action, and disposes a questionable planetary governor in the Ultima Segmentum. This sparks a lot of controversy, but the Stallion does not back down. Eventually, furthers acts like these will start to lead to several small scale conflicts between Dragoons and [other legion?].

This is where Malcador draws the line, and calls for the Summit of New Hope. He chose the planet on name alone, but it is in truth nothing more than a salted Ruin world…

Number 2: The Lord Lord.

Wat.

Here's a question, how would other Primarchs feel about Je'shes right to call ensure on Lambach or Marduks right to call censure on Pacha?
I know Je'she doesn't feel good about it as Lambach and he were mates but he is trying to keep the order and from his point of view he is trying not to show favoritism. But would there be any Primarchs that call into question the Warmasters right to issue censure?

Yeah… good point. We should edit that.

I think don't think anyone would question their right to do it. The call for censure falls under a Warmasters' responsibility. Whether or not they should is a dfferent matter.

The bigger question would be: can a single Warmaster make that call?

I know it bothers Gyahdred because there was no consultation. It strikes him as unilateral power dickery, particularly since he's already run afoul of Je'She once, for what he considers to be a totally irrational and arbitrary reason.

>Mot
As Malcador works to convene the Summit, several things are happening. Mot, perhaps tipped off by Marduk, is inspecting a world full of strange and wondrous archaeotech. Tyrus' ghost buddies tip him off that Mot is about to unleash an ancient evil and Tyrus heads off to avert disaster.
The two legions clash.
There's two places this could go, early, in which case, Tyrus gets called off and people rally around Mot, who, for the first time in his life is popular. It would work quite nicely if the censure of Lambach happens/is launched right after this, making it look like it's revenge/concentrated campaign. (Lambach is plausibly Je'She aligned, I think, given who his friends are.)
It could also go later, but it's been suggested that Tyrus goes and tries to save Assur, which could happen at New Hope. I like this, personally as it makes the situation even worse.

>Gyahdred
Meanwhile, Gyahdred is called by his banished brother Lambach, who seems to have been attacked for political reasons. He meets him at Grethor, but has been warned by Tijo and Distant Thunder that something is amiss. The resulting battle has been discussed elsewhere, but point is that Gyahdred counterambushes and beats back Lambach. Lambach has also taunted him with just enough info to make Gyahdred paranoid about CHAOS EVERYWHERE TRYING TO HURT DADDY.
The battle has also fucked over Gyahdred's Astropaths. He wants to tell everyone about CHAOS, but he can't. So, fearing the worst, he heads to Terra.
He drops out the warp, ready for battle, only to find Kincaid sitting on Terra, the Pretorian in Raj's absence.
Kincaid doesn't want to hear anything Gyahdred has to say and assumes this is a (really weird) ploy by JFA to attack Terra.Cont

I think each one that does so says yes. Or rather the first one gets called, the second one comes in quick succession and then they all get together and talk it out, but by then it's too late.

Gyahdred demands to be let in because of the chaos threat, escalates the situation, moves his fleet in, prepares to land on Terra, that sort of thing, because Gyahdred still has basically no Astropaths.
The Custodes, who do know about Chaos step in and de-escalate the situation.
Kincaid refuses to listen to Valdor or Gyahdred because, let's face it, this is Pope Vader here. Some Custodes come on board Gyahdred's ships to give him an intro to chaos and, convinced that Terra is safe for the moment and that sending out what amount to conspiracy theorist youtube videos about Chaos is not a good idea, is persuaded that he should bring his case to the conference and pick up Einchurt along the way. They're best buddies and have dealt with some strange shit, so Einchurt should be amenable to all this.

Kincaid, however, has warned Je'She that Gyahdred has gone mad, admits to assaulting Lambach, which, while not outright wrong given that Lambach escaped from a censure force and so is an outlaw, is not quite ok. Marduk still supports Lambach's innocence and JFA is unsure what to believe. Kincaid claims that Gyahdred was going to assault Terra until the Custodes talked him down. Custodes took control and custodianship of Gyahred to ensure he couldn't hurt anyone.

So when Gyahdred shows up on Elcoa, Einchurt is convinced Gyahdred has cracked and demands answers for Lambach and his assault on Terra, as well as some other things that are happening at the bargaining table at that same time.
Gyahdred realizes that the brotherwar is coming one way or another and so decides to neutralize the legion that's going to cause the most collateral damage. It really is nothing personnel.
Presumably Einchurt is unwilling to go with Gyahdred back to Terra to talk some sense into Kincaid or onward to New Hope, now closed to everyone except the delegates. Einchurt presumably orders Gyahdred to stand down and proceeds to open fire. Custodes be damned, Gyahdred has to pay. Cont

Gyahdred being Gyahdred and seemingly on a streak has planned for this and Calth's Einchurts ass.
The logic here is that Einchurt isn't going to let him leave and he has to warn everyone about chaos, damn it. He's trying to avert a war and more than that, he's trying to save the Emperor. So forcing Einchurt to sit things out is deemed acceptable. I guess?

The question is where he goes next and what he does.

I'm ok with all this.
About Einy, probably he'd try to stop Gyahdred one way or another. Either preventing him from warp travel, or outright attacking, while sending a courier to deliver the message, or an astropathic message. Either one could be intercepted by Marduk's forces, maybe Chosen of Hecate. So Einchurt has attacked a fellow brother and hasn't achieved anything.

I do have 1 question I don't think we have addressed yet.
When do the loyalists go back to using psykers?
Lin and Pacha both voted for them but Raj, Kin, Ein and probably most importantly Je'she voted NO.
That only leaves Solomon I think.
So when / why / how does that get set back up?
Especially because Je'she called a censure over the fact.

The SB had psykers but not that many, and they weren't very powerful, maybe they just got them into the Tactical ranks while allowing them to do their thing when needed: find and train psykers so they aren't a major problem. Before Nikea that would mean that anyone who could survive the process would join the Legion, the rest would be kept as civilians. After, all would become civilians.

I think that the Loyalists would start using psykers officially again after the Codex, as with all the shitstorm, they would understand that someone had to counter the enemy's psykers

Most legions began ignoring the Edict as soon as daemons became a factor. Psychic powers are very effective against warpspawn, and they kind of need them.

Yeah I get that is how it worked in the OU. But I get the feeling it might be a different case in this timeline. I could be wrong though. I just wanted to explore how it would work.
I know Kincaid is pretty much the worst aspects of Russ and Lorgar batched up so he simply denies he is usimg psykers for example.

Or Je'she going
"Damn I caused a whole big thing over Lambach doing this and now it is running rampant in the Legions still loyal"
But as with Kincaid's religion he feels he can't do anything about it this time around.

It could be reduced to a "Is an effective weapon? Yes. We need it? Yes. Then we may use it, for now"
Keep in mind that after New Hope everything went south, so previous rules like the Edict would be kinda outta place

Fair enough. Kincaid still wouldn't be ok with it, the fanatic still hates psykers. Then again, he spends most of his time during the Brotherwar on Terra, never leaving Segmentum Solar anyway. So he can't really stop any of the others from doing it. His opinion wouldn't change until he finds out he's actually a psyker himself, but I can't remember when that happens.

It really would be a decision made on a legion to legion basis, much as it was in the OU. I imagine that the Blades and Mountains would definitely start using them again, maybe the Star Warriors and Sentinels too? Don't know about the Death's Heads, and the Titan Marchers don't have psykers, so I don't know about that either.

And yeah, it sucks for Je'She that he's forced to make use of the powers that he called Pacha to heel for, but Je'She isn't arrogant enough to never admit to his mistakes.

This all looks reasonable

Didn't Marduk call the censure of Pacha and the Golden Mountains? This is why it goes wrong due to sabotaged gas weaponry of the Smoke Stalkers

>UPDATED TIMELINE
docs.google.com/document/d/17-kTDZecaXjHdWpWdeCtu2npjveL-5ghEmRrTky0S2Y/edit

This should now include a revised version of the events from Ullanor to the battle of New Hope. Feel free to add anything I've missed or you feel should be in their anyway

Kincaid finds out on Terra, which kinda snaps him back to reality.

That way Je'She isn't the lone sane man in the Imperium, and they get to mend their bond a bit

Einchurt never really liked psykers, they mostly got stuffed into esoteric suicide squads that supposedly didn't exist and forced to redeem themselves for their flaw. However, isolated elements begin using them in more Librarian-esque way during the brotherwar

Elsu falls to choas a fairly long time before his meeting with Lambach and Marduk.
I didn't realise that. I thought it was that meeting that sent him over. As 2 of his only close brothers were already fallen?

>Didn't Marduk call the censure of Pacha and the Golden Mountains? This is why it goes wrong due to sabotaged gas weaponry of the Smoke Stalkers

Marduk was the one that called for the censure of Pacha, yes, after Ashur advises him to do it. Marduk later uses this to drive the ashamed Isekho into his camp.

>UPDATED TIMELINE
One thing I noticed was in regards to the Battle of New Hope. The Traitors should not use daemons there, that should come later. Jon-Fred and Je'She have major disagreements, but literal daemons would only drive them closer. Marduk would realize that, and hold off on summoning neverborn.

Does that happen pre- of post-Siege?

It's in the wrong place in the timeline anyway. Even then it might be too early, I thought it only happened a handful of years pre-New Hope.

In the notes of Lambach's Censure:
>After losing the battle Lambach makes a pact with Nurgle, giving him the chance to escape. Sealing his fate and that of his legion.
I thought that his Nurglite powers were already working in the Censure

Also, added Linares' disappearance and reappearance dates

Sort of. In order to escape he fully surrenders himself to Chaos. He was already making use of some of the gifts beforehand.

Kinda about Lambach, what about those Coins that allow Lambach to live a fraction of a second after the present?

I would say post. Like he realizes that his "new power levels" aren't his faith in the Emperor saving him during Terra, but him coming in tune with a part of himself that he denies

Something we did in the meantime, Brainghost Raj!

So, Ashur popped up an idea about a Loxodonti + Silver Blades battle, with the Loxos driving at full speed with the Silver Blades on top of their tanks. This could be a thing, but it should be Pre-Nikea, and could serve as a Linares - Ashur meeting. What are your thoughts? Ashur, are you with me?

Yeah, that does make the most sense. Still, I remember that his moment of clarity kind of happens at the same time as he starts losing control over the Ecclesiarchy. So it’s close to his end, anyway. Not a lot of time for bonding.

Pretty much anything can happen pre-Nikaea. Go for it, dude.

Now this. This is beautiful.

Fine. I'll see what I can put together, and wait for Ashur's answer

So, thoughts on where Gyahdred goes after "meeting" with Einchurt?

Before Miletus he was using anciemt nurglite spells without knowing it. He hadn't yet entered a pact with Nurgle.

It's a nifty bit of wargear he has. His psykic powers let him master it. I'll eventually expand on where and how he got them.

That makes sense about the Daemon issue.

I would say the process of his 'redemption' should start halfway through the brotherwar as Marduk rapes and pillages his way towards Terra. This gives Kincaid time to work out it and come to the realisation naturally.

Will propose a potential crusade campaign soon

Will work on that

Thread prompt:

What does your legion organisation look like?

>Kincaid
Makes sense. Also probably has something to do with Gyahdred warning him.
How about this:
He's still trying to get support so someone will listen to him and he becomes aware of what Tyrus has been up to and concludes Tyrus is either chaos or fighting chaos and so goes to find out.
We end up with the "did we just become best friends" scene from Step Brothers and they proceed to do something to fight chaos, since they know they need proof.

Maybe his loss of control happens earlier, his lack of generalling skill comes to bear. He's a good social engineer and manipulator, but not a tactical and logistical leader. So in the interest of averting censure, he shifts power to a Mortal to focus on bolstering the manpower and defenses of Sol, and turn his attentions to Marduk. In this journey of sanity he comes to terms with a) the legions singing is basically sorcery and b) his in particular is bolstered by psychic might.

By the time Terra goes down, the Traitors have to contend with a lucid and focused Kin, and after the Seps have to deal with a coordinated and determined Kin and Je'She, landing the Loyalists on very firm ground once Kin gets shredded by Ashur and Je'She disappears

Tijo Nosebi ran her fingers through her long, blonde hair, something she did repeatedly when flustered. Lambach’s plan had gone badly. As she knew it would when the Primarch originally bought it to the Legion and now they were on the run without a friend in the world, quite literally.
Tijo had been opposed, as had many of the Chosen of Hecate, there had to be a better way. Perhaps they should have just bitten the bullet and accepted whatever punishment the warmaster deemed necessary. But Lambach was sure he could get his brothers to see his way, he assumed he was closer to them than they were to the Imperium and if they were a problem he'd be able to handle it, so it appeared Lambach Kropor had been wrong.
Tijo, being the captain of the Chosen of Hecate Flagship the Starburst, making her an important member of the Legion was detained with the sixty two Chosen of Hecate warriors who spoke out against Lambach's plan. Not technically prisoners the primarch had informed them, but he could not allow them to interfere with the plans he had laid down. Once everything was set right they would be free to rejoin the Legion, the sixty two had been stipped of their weapons and armour and wore the simple, dark green robes of the Legion. They were kept in an empty hangar bay at Miletus capital spaceport guarded by a single squad of Chosen loyal to the Primarchs cause.
There had been a time when Tijo would have followed Lambach through any hell, The Primarch had practically raised her and trusted her, probably the youngest Captain of the era with the responsibility for one of the most powerful space faring ships in the known galaxy.

She had loved him for it. Everything had changed with the death of Radcliff Kaden, he had always been Lambach’s steady guide and most trusted advisor. But most of all Kaden had been Lambach’s best friend. Tijo missed the man dearly and was certain that had his death been avoided so too could the mess that was now brewing on the surface of Miletus. Tijo agreed with Lambach that Kaden's death was the fault of the Emperors short sightedness and egotistical hypocrisy as did every single member of the Chosen, but there had to be a better way. From the sounds of it Lambach was now engaged in battle with the Silver Blades and the Titan Marchers, the thought was unthinkable.
Suddenly one of the guards spoke.
"The Primarch has ordered a full retreat, we are to make our way into orbit and break free of the SIlver Blades fleet by any means necessary".
With that the guard squad simply left, leaving Tijo and the sixty two to their own fates. Warpclaw Parthenios was the highest ranking member among them so naturally the Chosen turned to him for advice.
"If we stay here we are like to be slaughtered, it may be hard to differentiate friend from foe after what our Father has done" the Sergeant informed them. "We need to get to a lifter and get off planet, there is an armoury close to the hanger where we may find some weapons that will suffice. However we have not got the time to locate and adorn armour. The real question is how will we escape the system?"

"Cerastes" Tijo murmured, more to herself than anyone but the Warpclaw, with his enhanced hearing picked it up.
"What was that girl?" he demanded, disdain for her presence amongst the Astartes evident in his voice.
"I am a Master of the fleet, my lord" Tijo shot back.
"Not any more girl, you were Lambach’s pet before all this, and now? The Starburst is not likely to wait for us"
"I am still the Master of a Space faring vessel, aye, not as grand as Starburst but my original ship the Cerastes is likely still in orbit. It was repurposed as a civilian carrier but it likely still has some fight. If you and your men can get me on board I can get us out of the system, unless you'd rather stay here and die?"
Parthenios turned to the men, his men.
"We're moving out, we get as many weapons as we can from the stores and make for a lander, our priority is to protect the Captain" Parthenios nodded to Tijo by way of apology.
"And what do we do when or if we actually reach this ship" Brother Demertes asked.
"A fine question Demertes, and one I have no answer for at this time, for now marines we have our mission, form into loose squads and let's secure ourselves some transport"
The group made way to the armoury with little hassle. Locating not nearly enough weapons to arm each of them. Twenty three Bolters and Eleven Bolt Pistols were all that remained as far as ranged weaponry was to be had, with precious little ammunition. As Well as a box of Fragmentation Grenades and most Importantly a Power Spear. Dividing the weapons as best he could Parthenios took the spear himself but eschewed a ranged weapon. Tijo also managed to find a rack of Lasguns, far too small to be made use of by the Astartes, Tijo felt safer with the firearm despite being painfully aware that it would be of little to no help if they actually were forced to fight.

"Ship Master" Parthenios beckoned her over, "Again I wish to apologise for the way I treated you earlier, this is a stressful time for us all, but it was no excuse for the disrespect I showed you".
Tijo accepted the apology with a light hearted smile on her pretty face, "Don't let it worry you, I've been digging my heels in against your stubborn lot for as long as I can remember. You do your job and I'll do mine. Deal? Mind if I ask what the plan is from here? Do you have anyone who can fly a Storm Bird"
"Amongst our numbers we have several specialists that we can call upon, two techmarines, Brothers Twain and Gerahost both able pilots. An apothecary, Brother Bonfiglioli and possibly most importantly a neophyte by the name of Torrens who was being psychically groomed. Before all this he would have risen swiftly in the legion"
"Well that's handy, now we just need to get through potentially three hostile forces, get a bird and hope we can locate my ship, take control of that and get out of the system before the Blades pound us into oblivion. Easy..."
"Also" Parthenios began
"Of course there's an also..."
"Bonfiglioli informs me there is a storage of gene-seed close by, he believes and I agree that we should check this storage and if we can rescue as much of it as we can, if the Legion survives the Primarch may need it to rebuild"
"That's a big IF Warpclaw..."

The plan was simple enough, Bonfiglioli and Gerahost would take eight men with them, each armed with a Bolt Pistol, they would attempt to gain access to the Gene-Vault nearby. They had ten minutes to get there, gather as much gene-seed as they could and make it back to the hangar. Meanwhile Parthenios would take the rest of the complement “acquire” a Storm Bird and hold it for the time given to the other group, but they could wait no longer. If the Gene-seed group took any longer than that they would have to be left behind. Each man knew they were about to be forced to face off against their former cousins and perhaps even their brothers, the mood did not sit well but what they intended had to be done.
Parthenios' group met little resistance as they made their way towards the hanger. They saw mostly panicked and confused mortals running for shelter and only a few squads of Chosen who had far bigger problems than Tijo's motley bodyguard but they could hear bolter fire very close by. Opening the blast doors to the hangar revealed why.
Hundreds of Chosen of Hecate Marines staged a fighting retreat towards the grounded storm birds, harried by Astartes of the Silver Blades Legion. Tijo's group had the advantage of being close to the ships with no real hinderance to getting them on board. The hard part now would be defending their transport from attack by the Silver Blades and indeed, their own brothers while they waited for Bonfiglioli, they were severely out gunned and in addition had no armour to defend themselves. In a concentrated fight they would be slaughtered.

Parthenios ushered his men on board the nearest Storm Bird hoping against hope that his power armoured brothers would defend the Storm bird without realising who was on board.
"Demertes, make sure the Ship Master is safely secured, her safety is our chief concern if any of us wish to make it out of here alive, Twain get this bird ready to fly, as soon as the Apothecary returns we take off".
Demertes scooped Tijo into his arms as easily if he were lifting a toddler, no matter how long she lived amongst them being physically handled by an Astartes was always an intimidating prospect.
"I am sorry Lady Tijo" the legionnaire assured her, "but the restraints in a Storm Bird were not made for someone as... tiny as yourself, and we will already be well above capacity. Our lack of armour is perhaps a blessing in that regard". Demertes strapped Tijo into a harness that was ridiculously too big for her then hunched himself over her protectively, shielding her from any potential incoming hazards.

Shots were pinging off the armoured hull now. The Silver Blades had noticed the unarmoured and hence easy targets presented by Parthenios' men. Two went down without so much as a scream their bodies pulped by mas reactive shells. The rest of the wayward Chosen dived for whatever cover could be found. Twain made his way to the cockpit and began the process of igniting the engines and preparing the bird for take off as soon as Bonfiglioli returned. Fortunately there were five more bolters on board and the Astartes who managed to get their hands on one were swift to add their fire to the fray. Desperately trying to dissuade any Silver Blades who tried to storm them.

Parthenios stepped forward to meet the first Blade to reach the ramp, with no armour it seemed a foregone conclusion the Warpclaw could not possibly hope to match the Silver Blade in strength or speed. He parried the first two blows sent his way but the third took his right arm off at the elbow, howling in pain the Warpclaw lept back and his brothers closed around him, lighting the Silver Blade legionnaire with bolt fire. The Blade staggered and toppled backwards.
Six more of Parthenios' Chosen went down, their unarmoured bodies bursting like ripe melons in the ensuing fire fight.
"We can't hold much longer we need to take off soon" Twain called from the cockpit.
Almost on cue Bonfiglioli, Gerahost and three remaining Legionnaires, each carrying bulky black boxes, assuredly filled with precious gene-seed, appeared at the hangar doors.
"Give them cover brothers, they potentially carry the future of our Legion with them" Parthenios yelled.
Those with remaining ammunition poured their firepower into the ranks of the Silver Blades forcing them to take cover. One of Bonfiglioli's group took a round to the side of the head, showering his brothers in red ichor as he tumbled, the precious cargo he carried spilling to the floor, a horrendous waste but there was no time to collect the crates contents as the four remaining marines sprinted for the Storm bird.
As the small group thundered up the landing ramp Parthenios gave Twain the order to take off.
Powerful engines burned as the ship rocketed out of the hangar, Twain and Gerahost being painfully aware that proper protocols had not been met and the machine spirit of their steed had not been properly roused.
Small arms fire pinged off the hull as the ship climbed but fortunately nothing heavier.

Bonfiglioli did his best to tend to the wounded with his limited supplies as the small ship breached the atmosphere. With little effort Twain was able to lock onto the Cerastes. As a civilian hauler the frigate had been largely ignored by the combined Silver Blades and Titan Marchers fleet, a relief to Parthenios then that his cousins from the other chapter would not stoop to harming innocents in their quest for vengeance. The human crew were terrified and confused and readily agreed to let the Astartes board apparently in the hopes of gaining some kind of direction. Though in truth Parthenios was anything but certain of the path they must now take.
Cradling the stump of his right arm the Warpclaw approached the Shipmaster.
Tijo was settling in well to the captain's throne of the ship, she had missed the simple nature of her first command even while she conquered entire systems from the helm of the mighty Starburst.
“Reports are that Lambach… my father is in full retreat and has been branded an outlaw, with the damage he has inflicted to his brothers legions I doubt they will welcome us with open arms and rejoining the Chosen fleet seems almost impossible, from what we can ascertain our Fathers space faring retreat is being covered by what appears to be swarms of insects. No doubt some further sorcery worked by Lambach”.
Tijo accepted this information without looking up from her work.
“The crew of this ship are not warriors Warpclaw, they are not trained and drilled to legion standards. We cannot expect much from them, but we owe them their safety. Thanks to the trust they place in us we have this ship and we must act fast if we to avoid being discovered for much longer. We need you to make a call right now, what are we going to do?”

Parthenios’ brow furrowed as he weighed up the options before him, what was the best course of action to take? After a minute he spoke.
“Do you remember, shipmaster, our time with the Dusk Phantoms? You would have been only a small child at the time, but both you and I had the chance to meet with Lord Gyhadred”
“Aye, meeting a Primarch is not something you soon forget Warpclaw and even amongst Primarchs the Dusk Phantom is an... interesting character.” A small smile played across the captain’s pretty face as she dawned on what Parthenios was about to suggest. Few of Lambach’s brothers had understood Lambach’s tolerance of Tijo as a child, save perhaps the Iron Bear and the eccentric master of the Phantoms. Tijo recalled being immensely amused by his many strange mannerisms.
“The Erlkoning, he likes to be called” Parthenios mused, “I have sworn brothers amongst that legion captain, I am certain we will find shelter from this storm amongst their number. Until we know exactly what is happening. We can at very least carry word of what has transpired here”.
“Setting a course for Ryamtscho system Warpclaw” Tijo gave the order to the bridge crew to begin plotting exactly how they were going to get out of this current mess in once piece, but atleast now, they had an objective. “Gyhadread does make the most interesting toys”.

Great work man, really! Your writing has gotten much better, much easier omto read. Also, great to finally have context in Tijo. She was a bit of a blank for me.

The Marchers stick closely to the standard legion structure. At their height the legion has 103 chapters, 206 battalions and 1030 companies. This is necessary due to how spread out the legion is.

Thanks man, I took a break from it for a long ass time because I really wasn't happy with it. Glad you liked it though.
Yeah I haven't decided exactly when Tijo is found crusade wise but when she is still very small she can be found in the company of the Primarch, until she becomes a ship captain.

Sorry, was busy these last two weeks, but introducing two IG regiments, the Blazing Condors and the Catachan Pumas.

>Blazing Condors
While a few from Suyu IV were chosen as Space Marine prospects when Pacha was discovered by the Emperor and given command of the II Legion, there were many skilled warriors who wanted to continue their service to The Earthquake. Thus, they were organized and made into an auxiliary Imperial Guard regiment to the Golden Mountains, and named after one of their homeworld's creatures, an avian that seemingly had been once native to Terra and brought over, and in order to act as better support, they were mainly trained in the use of long distance weaponry and heavy duty support. Many a low level psyker was amongst them, and they were trained into Pyromancy, towards the which the natives of Suyu seemed to have a predisposition, alongside Plantsinging. This predisposition for flames, as well as in reference to the barrage of fire they would provide in the battlefield, added the Blazing adjective to their name.

>Catachan Pumas
When Deathworld Catachan was found, with its deadly array of native flora and fauna, the Golden Mountains were sent to properly integrate the planet into the Imperium, the Plantsinging abilities of their psykers having already been proven to be capable to tranquilize plants with aggressive tendencies before. Pacha found the people to have adapted rather well to their environment, having become incredibly strong and healthy, but also with quite a bit of personality and pride. Thus, he thought, it would be best to have Chanka to act as his emissary. Naturally, the Unbending Avalanche found in the natives kindred spirits.

Although without the natural affinity for the farms that Golden Mountain marines and Suyu IV natives had in order to enable them to be proficient at Plantsinging, in their own way, the humans in Catachan had attuned themselves to the savageness of the planet. Thus, upon seeing the psykers of the II Legion sing to the plants to calm them down, the psykers native to Catachan began their own song. It wasn't made of the armonious, tranquil tones that traditional Plantsinging employed, but rather a song that reminded the warrior of the very wilds, of the untamed jungles he had seen. And the plants obeyed, far more quickly than they did to the songs the marines with purple shoulderpads employed.

The Catachan Pumas thus were quickly assembled as the planet accepted the Imperium's authority. Although masters of the flora, the planet remains deadly in its fauna and thus the people of the planet remain significantly above the average human in terms of combat prowess. With the help of some imperial genesmiths, they have developed an unique weapon. Seeds of the flora of Catachan, modified to grow with incredible speed when exposed to fertile soil. Thus, when setting up a defensive position, they will fertilize the land, plant the seeds, and command the plants as into becoming one of the deadliest sorts of active defenses, and sometimes they will pack seeds and prepared soil into a container and fire it into the midst of the enemies, letting the plant act as the deadly force its native deathworld molded it into.

Cool. Very cool. I'd really like to see them fuck up some Tyranids.

Tell me more about them? Are they an artillery regiment kind of thing?

I like this version a lot. I'm also curious to see more about just why and how Lambach picked Tijo.

It's in my document under Notable Chosen.
But basically Tijo and her brother were found as orphans by Kaden. The brother was inducted into the space marines and Tijo became a servant of the legion.
She was angry that she also couldn't be made a space marine and the first time she saw Lambach she interrupted him and demanded answers.
Lambach was amused by her utter lack of fear or awe that accompany most humans in his presence and so took her under his wing.

The Silver Blades are divided in 3 (at first) equal parts, called Tercios. Those are further divided in Batallions of 1000 men, and those in Companies of 100 men. When casualties start to grow, there's no reorganization of the force, everything is kept as it is. Usually, the Tercios operate somewhat independently, it's rare to see two in the same Warzone, at least at the start of the Crusade. They usually deploy as a whole, unless that's deemed too much overkill, when the smaller Batallions are sent. Usually, the Batallions aren't independent, they rely in the Tercio's command, but they are capable of independent actions supplies, material and command-wise.

That changed towards the end of the Crusade and the start of the Brotherwar, as the engagements grew in size and importance, and the number of casualties increased. The First and Second Tercios started to operate together more frequently, while the Third Tercio got used to operate divided as several "attack groups", that were either a group of Batallions, a single one, or a group of Companies. This gave the Third Tercio the chance to cover as much territory as possible, given the state of affairs.

Important note: The three Tercios were basically equal in most aspects. All shared the same culture, numbers when first deployed, and materiel. That increased the brotherhood feeling of the Silver Blades, as they knew that, no matter where the other guy was detached, they were still of the same Legion, with little-to-no cultural differences

Good work! I like it. Although I shall find out who lead the attack at the gunship, as it's worrying that your men managed to scape

Both of them very cool man! The Flowepot of death is unusual, indeed

Might be the powerful defensive weapons on a Stormbird. I mean it sounds like they didn't have the time to get the void shield up and running, but odds are that thing was pumping heavy bolter rounds.

If GM fight CoH it's pretty much a remake Plants vs Zombies with a 40k skin.
Mostly I'd say they escaped by luck rather than anything. They got the timing right and the Blades had more distressing targets than a bunch of unarmoured guys.

Actually I had a less primarch centric story in mind, although we could set it up in a way that several chapters are deployed. You may write Ashur and Linares doing the main assault while I can write a bit about a secondary assault where it's more about two legionnaires bro-ing it up.

Do you guys jave any characters like Hastur Sejanus?

Yeah, that could work!

Who?

>Hastur Sejanus was the Captain of the 4th Company of the Luna Wolves Space Marine Legion and a member of the Mournival. A senior commander and particularly close friend to his primarch, Horus, he was murdered during compliance negotiations upon Sixty-Three-Nineteen. His appearance was later used by Erebus in an attempt to trick and coerce Horus into following the path of Chaos.

It really depends on how you mean that. If anything, I don't think the death of a single marine effects Marduk, the Chaos Warmaster, as much as Sejanus' death meant to Horus. The closest thing would be Radcliff Kaden, one of Lambach Kropor's closest friends. His death is a serious blow to the legion and ultimately leads the Chosen of Hecate to Chaos.

>Blazing Condors
Cool. How common is it for guard regiments to come from legion/chapter homeworlds? Is there a guard regiment that comes from Macragge of Fenris, for example?

>Catachan Pumas
It seems only natural for Catachan to fall under the Golden Mountains' banner. Good work.

Having 1000 man Batallions is a bit weird, as in the regular basic legion structure a batallion is a grouping of five companies, or half a chapter.

>Batallions
Is just nomenclature, nothing more

>IG from Chapter Homeworlds
AFAIK, PDFs still exist there. Prospero had a Guard force. They aren't truly IG because they are not sent to other worlds to fight there, but they exist

First bump

>Batallions
It’d still be kinda confusing, imo

I can call them "Banderas" too. Is a spanish term of military organization.

Second Bump

That’s better, yeah.

As an aside, as I work on some stuff, I had a proposal for the sep name: Protectorae Astartes, IE: psuedo-latin for Astartes or Space Marine Protectorates, which is a good name for the various segments ruled by the legions, the Legion Protectorates.

Could work, it doesn't sounds as pompous as some others

How would the ‘Union’ tie into that? So many of us have gotten used to calling it that, that I don’t know if switching it is viable at all.

Could be the Protectorae Astartes Union?

Same as the other suggestions: Union of something is the name of the joint ruling body, ala the EU, while the area at large is the other name.

I would like to bring to a wider conversation the case of the Rigue Trader family of Haarlock. While not too influential at this point in the timeline, there are a few things that I believe should be adressed...
Firstly, while the original plan was for them to have first emerged in the 9th Iron Crusade, the date may be somewhat late in the timeline, judging by more recent discussion. Whether or not that is held onto should be decided before the Haarlock's influence on Calixis Sector can be properly defined.
Secondly, said influence should be agreed upon, as well as the full power of the Haarlock Charter in this AU.
Thirdly, we should confirm all legions and their successors' influence on the Haarlock Civil War, late in the seventh century of M41. As things stand, no legions or their successors partake in the conflict, leading to practically identical result with the OU. While this is no problem in itself, I believe it would be good to ask everyone whether they want to have a go at the greatest familial dispute since the Great Heresy.

>First
I'm sorry but I don't understand at all. Anyway, I'd place the 9th Iron Crusade in M37, probably 500-700.

>Second
I don't see any reason for the Haarlocks to have a different power in /w3/, unless the Forge Lords pull out something that cripples them. Otherwise, they should remain the same.

>Third
Neither the Silver Blades nor their successors have any interests in the Calixis Sector, but probably the chance to kick Separatist ass is enough reason to bring a Chapter to war. Maybe not at full strength, just two or three companies, enough to say "X was here". It depends on how many Astartes do the Loyalists bring to the Crusade, tho

How much do we know about the Haarlock during the Crusade and Heresy? How would the Corsairs Gallant affect them?

>Blazing Condors
They go all the way from midrange support (think the psykers mainly, plus some heavy weapons and armored vehicles) to artillery.

Yeah, they follow the same doctrine of Legion Support that the Regiments from Kadir follow.

As things stand at the moment, the Haarlock line was around from long before, but gained power only in the aftermath of the 9th Iron Crusade. Should the Corsairs take notice of the Haarlocks, what they would likely see would be a proud family with several crippling debilitations of personality: Insane obsession, sadistic vengeance and an unhealthy curiosity chief among them. The Haarlocks gathered and hid away many secrets: Perhaps the Corsairs would be interested in finding out just what the Haarlocks had hidden away.
As of how Corsairs affect the Haarlocks, that depends largely on the Corsairs and their decisions regarding the Rogue Trader line.

I don’t know about a lot of Guard regiments with many Psykers. Neat!

Interesting. What would a Manaan based Guard regiment be like? I’m thinking they’d be saboteurs mostly, spawned from Raj’s resisitance days.

Perhaps Rahman has some insights on that, then.

I've been mostly working on the speech essay I have due tomorrow, but I plan on getting some more work done on my Einchurt & The Cabal story tonight once I've done with that.
In the meantime, I'll pose the following question:
Who leads the warband/chapter that still bears your Legion's name in M41, and what does that warband/chapter look like by then? What changes does it see over the 10 Millenia? Who are their rivals, allies, and nemeses by M41?

Atreus Thyestes would essentially be the CoH leader (He'd be like Typhus as far as special characters go, but with wings instead of Terminator Armour) known throughout the galaxy. A winged Warrior Lich armed with a Power claw and melta pistol. As Lambach mostly retires to play toy soldier games with brain ghost Raj.
The legion warriors mostly look as they did before the crusade but their crusade era gleaming polished armour is rotten and decayed looking often badly repaired with tattered robes. The legionnaires themselves resemble skeletal corpses at their most handsome, some can be down right disgusting in their disfigurements.
They still favor sorcerers and Dreadnoughts as the millennia drift by as well as vast hordes of poxwalkers.
Main nemeses' would most likely be the Titan Marchers and any offshoot of the legion as Lambach stole the body of Raj.
Unsure of exactly who allies or rivals would be.

The Many hooked me up with a legion badge

A guy called Don Alejandro Farnesio. He has lead the Chapter for three centuries, and improved the Chapter greatly. He's said to be descendant of another Chapter Master that lead the Chapter in ~M38. Became Chapter Master after the defense of an Imperial world from the Sothanids. The world was saved, but the 6 Companies of the Chapter were reduced to a single man, Farnesio, a veteran of the 1st Company by that time. Although he's not a tactical genius, he has found ways for exploiting the recklessness of the Chapter, and his cunning tactics have won the Chapter a lot of battles that were lost at a first glance.

The Chapter itself isn't that different from the Legion. They keep their culture mostly intact, and their tactics. Only thing different is their behavior. They lost part of the recklessness, and started to act more like an Astartes and less like a Guardsman. When Linares came back, this stroke him greatly. But his recklessness was expanded to his troops in little time, so yeah, the Chapter hasn't changed much.

Looks good mate. Will have to get him on mine next.

Yeah man, looking good!

>Ideas for things Gyahdred and Tyrus get up to?
See Good question. I think it's fairly decentralized, but everyone comes together for synods. Like Gyahdred doesn't tell his dudes what to do, but he still knows where all of them are and what they're doing. That way support can be sent and directed as needed. The legion also comes together for the really big campaigns, but it adds to a reputation for capriciousness. A Dusk Phantoms Sangha will show up for a critical siege or battle, stick around for a few more, and then vanish as quickly as they came. They're not Dark Angels going after Fallen tier abrupt, but if it's not one of the main fleets, odds are those Dusk Phantom allies are going to be there for the toughest 3 sieges or whatever and then after that, no promises because if they get the call from Papa G, they're off to go exterminate some nightmarish horror.

The Phantoms do as the Phantoms do. By M41, they tend to be linked with a forgeworld, watch fortress, or patrol route. This leads to some cultural differences between them, but they still exchange dudes to keep up with tactics, enemies, and technology. Most Dusk Phantoms will, at some point, go on pilgrimage to Stovokor, and the higher ups meet for those synods. So its sort of like Ultramarines and their successors or the sons of Dorn.

As soon as they find out about the Tyranids, they start gearing up to exterminate them. Depending on when we stop the clock, they'll either be about to go launch that assault, on the defensive, but ready for round two, or having kicked their asses and be in the process of dealing with Marduk.
Alternatively, Marduk beats the crap out of the hive mind and brings the swarm as the beginning of a new Chaos god. Marduk, the End of All Things. Marduk, the Swarm. Huh...

Legion History:
Created by the Emperor of Mankind himself beneath the mountains of the Himalayas, the geneseed of the IXth made just like any other Legion. Due to it’s maturity before other geneseed variants, such as the XIXth and XXth legions, the IXth were employed during the last months of the Unification Wars. Used as reinforcements among the already battle-hardened companies from older genestock, the IXth quickly gained a reputation for almost fanatical determination to the cause. So eager were they to prove themselves not only to their older brothers and the Emperor, but to the younger legions as well; often volunteering for impossible campaigns, and achieving victory at all cost. They were not as effective as the vanguard, unlike those of the Ist or XVth, but rather their true skill was that of shieldbearers, guarding flanks and resisting enemy counterattacks. Due to the nature of such tactics, the IXth lost men as quickly as they could make them. The lack of veterans compared to other legions gave the IXth an air of idealistic fanaticism. The young recruits just as willing to die for their cause as much as their deceased predecessors. These nigh-suicidal tendencies gained them the moniker, ‘The Shields of Death’.

This fearsome reputation gained admiration and derision from their brothers in equal measure. For the Solar Auxilia assigned alongside the IXth, only the most fanatical or stoic regiments welcomed their placement. For others, fighting alongside the ‘Shields of Death’ meant making the ultimate sacrifice for victory. The IXth demanded it.

“Me and my squad were pinned down while trying to take a ridge. Fire was coming in from nearly all sides. Transmissions were down, and I had lost half of my men. Out of the smoke came a single legionnaire. He took cover beside us, asked me the situation, looked up at the ridge, and said, ‘If your squad shall die like mine did, then it shall be a glorious day indeed. Follow my advance.’. He got up, in full fire, and ran straight up that ridge.
We won that day and took that damn ridge, but I will never forget those words of glorious despair.”
Anonymous Solar Auxilia Sergeant. 795.M30, during the battle of Luna.

By the time the Shields were reunited with Je’She, they were only roughly a score or so of bone-ragged companies. They made planetfall alongside the emperor to save their Primarch from being overwhelmed by orks. What they saw was awe-inspiring. Their genefather, in nought but iron plate and a primitive glaive, holding back tides of greenskins with his back against a mighty gate. With only a handful of human soldiers left at his side, him and his men held back thousands upon thousands of wrathful xenos. Their genefather was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for his people: death. For the IXth, that was all they asked.

Upon reunification, Je’She looked upon his legion, bloodied and determined to prove themselves above and beyond, and vowed to instill a new fanaticism in them. One not of mindless self-destruction, but the creed of protecting those that relied on them, both humanity and their brothers. Self sacrifice was noble, but foolish in the long run. For the IXth were shieldbearers, and shieldbearers they would continue to be, but now their creed was that of humanity, not of fanatical validation. They would be humanity's shields, their protectors, their Sentinels.

Upon reunification and during the course of Je’She’s first campaigns, the primarch began to modify his legion’s organisation. Keeping the majority of the original structure, he did however put immense efforts into changing the culture and mindset of his legion, instilling values of stoicism and humanity into his legionnaires. He encouraged creative pursuits, reasoning that a good warrior is a well-rounded warrior.
Before long, the Sentinels were nearly unrecognisable from their fanatical origins. No longer was the fire unchecked, not locked away, but merely redirected towards different goals. The IXth became known for surviving against the odds, holding the lines until their enemy broke themselves attempting to break through. Siege masters with few equals, they ground down fortresses and rebuilt them even greater. They showed mercy when necessary, but left nought but rubble when they had to, and in their wake left cities even greater than their forebears.

Looks great man! Really liking that solar horn!

Jagan Lodhara is the Chapter Master of the Titan Marchers chapter my M41. Like all those before him, Jagan is cut from the same cloth as Taarush Amin and the Primarch, Raj Vokar. Dutiful, honorbound and respectful.

I haven't written up much more for him, haven't given M41 much thought. But there he is.

This is great. I'll have to actually do something similar for the Warpclaws. As their numbers are decimated before reuniting with Kropor.

It does raise a question about something I had forgotten about until now though. The old Thunder Warriors.
According to black library there are still a few around in 30k and they are not to happy with Big E. Are we gonna touch on that aspect at all?

We could just truly exterminate them all after the unification wars

It’s not like the Thunder Warriors do anything important post-Unification Wars. I imagine it’d just be like it is in canon; a couple stir up some shit, but nothing major.

yeah, but another thing in what I mean is, the Emperor slaughtered them all when he was done with them. The same as he would most likely have done with the Space marines after the great crusade. He views everything / everyone as tools.
The Emperor is kind of a dick like that. I do wonder how that would have gone down with the Primarchs though.
Or if any of the Chaos / Separatist might use this example as a way of justifying some of their actions?
