>WizKids, the leader in high-quality pre-painted miniatures and established board games, today revealed a multi-year partnership with acclaimed fantasy miniatures company, Games Workshop. The new partnership will extend the Warhammer 40,000 universe IP across multiple categories, including, Dice Building Games™, board games and more!
>The multi-year deal will span numerous categories and include the most iconic Warhammer 40,000 characters and more. WizKids will create two new board games, along with dice games based in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, with additional plans to republish classic board games Fury of Dracula and Relic.
Basically the next "partner" after it went awry with Fantasy Flight. Imaginably won't be allowed to make 28mm scale miniatures, hence why FFG's Relic had larger-scale busts.
To be fair, who makes better pre-paints? it's not like they've got competition for that title... X-Wing?
Landon Jenkins
Hold up.
We're getting Fury of Dracula!?
Jayden Wood
Surprising, since this was only just announced, but they've already put out a prototype for a pre-painted 40k game.
Nathaniel Ward
So, 40k dice masters? Nice.
Xavier Morris
dont the wizkids miniatures look like absolute ass?
William Young
...
Nathaniel Hill
Why is GW so hellbent into alienating their loyal consumers? Every other companies would kill to have GW loyal consumer base and this fuckers are constantly poking their consumer
Andrew Scott
Thin your paint GW! Lol But real talk. The crackling looks nice. If this is some old painted marble statue or petrified kommissar, the miniature would be good. But i feel sorry for that user, who did that
Liam Diaz
My guess is that whizkid makes epic or BFG board games. Maybe take over BloodBowl. So incoming season booster with several double unwanted minis.
Brody Campbell
They don't want to have "the loyal niche" anymore. They want the big pool of pleebs.
Chase Myers
Shame that Dice Masters is a dead game. I would be delighted to build a neat __Nids__ deck
Charles Hall
Can someone post some actual pictures of Wizkids pre-painted minis? All I found googling were probably bullshots
Eli Reyes
>Why is GW so hellbent into alienating their loyal consumers?
Who are they alienating with this?
Luis Brooks
This stupid fucker to start with And nothing of value will be lost
Ryan Morales
When your consumer joke about the drop of quality, in the sense that it looks more like a toy with each model release. Joining up with the shit quality company of toys does not help that fear go away.
I'm going to be super surprise if they end releasing boardgames with proper rules and proper miniatures like a middle ground between the stuff FFG and GW made.
But WK and GW do not exactly have a consistent track record.
Samuel Bailey
Best case scenario, we'll get games like HeroQuest or remakes of old GW boardgames with single piece plastics at somewhat reasonable prices.
Worst case scenario, welcome to the age of 40Klix
Parker Jackson
Quality isnt relative. You could say "leading seller of" or something relative, but to say that their models are in any way high-quality is farcical.
Oliver Gonzalez
Lmfao
Colton Harris
you are all gonna be begging for John Kirby to come back
Jordan Flores
I'm waiting for Andy to return, his lore is shit, but his game mechanics are excellent
Oliver Richardson
Chambers? Not any time soon. He's working for Warlord now.
Ayden Scott
>this mindless conjecture
Yeah lads, don't panic because this is just going to be like the FFG deal I imagine. They won't be making 28mm depictions of GW IP at all.
So we'll see new games, but we probably won't see Wizkids making new versions of games created under license by FFG.
We will see new versions of games which were GW-created/owned when they made these games themselves, like the mentioned Dracula and Talisman-based Relic.
>Blood Bowl, BFG, Epic
No chance, GW only just set up Specialist Games as part of Forge World again, the fuck would they then outsource it to someone across the Atlantic?
>Heroquest
Impossible, I still play the game but it's not actually a GW game is it, it's Milton Bradley's.
Josiah Morris
"The big pool of plebs" has been their target audience for ages now. That's who space marines are for to begin with, and why there are so many books about them when large chunks of the lore will probably never be fleshed out. You can go around pretending to be GW's core consumer to validate your opinions all you like, but it's never actually been in anyone's interest to go after the kind unpleasable autists who post here. Their real "loyal niche" are the people who can run Epic games with normal scale minis. ...And every other company would eventually give into the temptation to do GW shenanigans. At least GW are finally learning to do it responsibly. We could be far worse off right now. Just look at how badly PP shit the bed the moment they got a taste of real success.
Michael Miller
>up Specialist Games as part of Forge World again Did they? Thought FW did Blood Bowl just for fun. And blisters with sportlers would fit their heroclix formular. And after X-Wing, i just think GW going with heroclix like minuatures. But ok, FW would make more sense.
Kayden Roberts
>it's not actually a GW game is it, it's Milton Bradley's.
Its got GW's style slathered all over it. That's like saying Grand Theft Auto is a Take Two game because they're the publisher, forget Rockstar.
Jack Carter
I fucking loved Quarriors. So hyped for 40k dicebuilding
Jacob Price
Pre-painted 40k was my dream. I suck at painting now let’s play a game.
Christian Garcia
Mindless conjecture? No. Baseless, certainly.
Games like heroquest was meant to imply similar to, rather than "for example."
Easton Gonzalez
Style loses against legally held rights 10 out of 10 times.
Chase Edwards
Most do, at least.
tbf, I think that's more an issue of the absolute ass paintjob (and to a lesser extent the shitty soft plastic used) than the sculpt.
Tyler Evans
It certainly has got their style all over it, they sculpted the models for a start. It's also loosely set in the Warhammer World, sort of, using the unique Fimir for example.
Like I say though, I know quite a bit about this and Heroquest is an MB game, made in partnership with GW. Stephen Baker the actual creator of the game worked fully for MB.
It is semantics though.
GW won't be letting them sculpt 28mm miniatures of their works, I can guarantee it.
Brandon Hughes
Mage Knight: Rebellion got me into wargaming! I'm not sad about this at all. I think wizkids does quick, fun, casual games pretty well. I'm interested to see what they make.
Levi Diaz
Lol it doesn't even mention AoS So much for a "successful game"
David Brooks
And that's why they made Warhammer Quest, so it's not like we'd be seeing that anyway.
Michael Richardson
yeah, but with wizkids, you're likely to get blind boosters so...
Have fun fishing for that last Ultramarine sgt. you need.
Alexander Jackson
I would think relic was at least partially owned by FFG, neat I guess. (fuck wizkids are actually than GW)
Andrew Cruz
>expect it to be a fake link >it's real
FUCKERS TAKING THE HOBBY AWAY FROM ME
IMMA TAKE ALL MY RUSTY BOX CUTTERS TO GW HQ AND MAKE NEVADA LOOK LIKE A FUCKING JOKE
