Pathfinder General /pfg/

Do you draw character inspiration primarily from classical or modern sources?

Usually modern. But one of the characters I had the most fun playing was mostly based on Icelandic Saga characters.

How do we deal with /pfg/s weeb problem? The 5e kids think this game is for weebs.

Let them think this game is for weebs, then. Doesn't hurt the game itself too much.

First time GM and I'm gonna be running Curse of the Crimson Throne Anniversary Edition for my group.
Anything in particular I should be on the look out for or change with this Adventure Path? Particularly dangerous encounters, tips for running it, ect.

>Thread question
Depends on the setting but I do tend to steal the armor designs of ancient civilizations quite a bit.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Good ideas are good ideas. People haven't changed much over the centuries.

I've played with Faust, Machiavelli, Hannibal Barca, and Musashi Miyamoto

Yeah, well 5e kids tend to be posers that are too lazy to actually invest themselves in a game. They hate us for being nerds? Fine, at least we're real nerds.

>all these gestalt games people talk about with half a dozen players and tons of content allowances
>can't talk my GM into anything but going from 20 to 25 PB with half that number of PCs

I feel a profound sadness

Why would anyone care what another general thinks? Like seriously, even cross-system users shouldn't really give a shit.

Tempest Gale maneuvers does not provoke attacks of opportunity for combat maneuvers, but does they provoke attacks of opportunity for being a ranged attack?

only if used in threatened squares of a creature capable of making an AoO against you.

And second question. There is stances in Tempest Gale, what give bonuses to combat maneuver checks, but most (if not all) maneuvers replace CMB for Sleight of Hand. Should this bonus apply to Sleight of Hand? And what other bonuses and penalties (weapon enhancement bonus, covers etc) should apply to check?

At what point would a cave be too small to use a polearm?

It's still a combat maneuver check, even if you're replacing CMB with SoH.

Thanks

How do you guys deal with power creep in your games?

I was runng e6 rules for a wile but i feel like that cuts out half the game.

>MFW I realize I am never going to see art of Ruhiel boobhatting Onryou boobhatting Bethany boobhatting Elsbeth

Just post pictures of the characters, man. I can make your dreams come true.

1) Stick as close to core as possible.

2) Limit magic items.

3) Players who are smarter than the GM IRL aren't allowed to play casters.

Any tips for making a druid for the first time?

you gave yourself away at #1 user

How do we make dragon disciple not hot garbage?

What did I give myself away as?

You have a game that exists, user.

Do you honestly believe people have gestalt games, or that they're fun if they do?

...

...

...

it's not garbage though? if you need more spell casting take favored prestige class and prestigous spell caster

Facial expressions
>Ruhiel
Victorious/excited
>Onryou
Surprised
>Bethany
Sad
>Elsbeth
Frustrated/embarrased

I'm kind of impressed at just how worthless you are.

Party might wind up being nothing but tieflings, I'm tempted to point my GM at the following page because I know my fellow players would be the kind of people to want to use Fiendish Serpent/Wings to make their characters extra monstrous. The question is, what kind of feat prerequisite would work to give access to it? Some dinky feat for a toggle into a more fiendish form, which qualifies you to take the feat(s) but lets you turn them off to avoid scaring the populace?

Is titan mauler worth it?

Part of me really wants to try, because a large impact nodachi does 3d8 damage, and when you get titanic rage that's up to 4d8, and that seems really fun

Choosing the cleric domains requires less work but having an animal companion is way funnier and more rewarding imho.
The big cats are ones of the strongest.

question, is there anything from silver games in any of the troves? and is one of the troves been taken down, or is it just bad on my end?

anything that increases die size is a trap in 99.9% of cases.

but it's bigger numbers!

less bigger numbers than seeking more sources of +Xs to damage/crit fishing.

>Actual Dex to Damage options
Wait, so are HalfOrcs the best Dexfags in PF?

It's Captain Slow. Of course he's shit.

Aight, might take a couple days. Should they be in the outfits you posted or what? Ruhiel's vest thing doesn't seem prime material for boobhatting with.

Off by a wide margin, mate.
A million thanks, user. The outfits from the pictures would be best, but if you need some changes to make it work go with your instincts.

Probably not, but a Half-Orc Magus could potentially finally use something besides a Scimitar if he REALLY WANTED, if you read it as being really really generous with the wording.

Don't forget foxtits

Foxtits isn't worthy of this work of art.

As ridiculous as Foxtits is, she's not in the same weight class as the girls in this picture.

As I recall, Foxtits and Valeriya were both considered for the "normal height girl" spot in this pic, but weren't big enough to really fit in.

You shut your mouth, Foxtits is a treasure

She's pretty big, user. She's a big girl. Lots of charisma.

Foxtits is a forced meme

>You shut your mouth, Foxtits is a treasure
Foxtits was a forced meme from a failure of a game. Fuck off.

Foxtits was shit, boring to RP with, and abandoned the game thus killing it.

Alright kawase

Was the 2nd round of dukes coin a bamboozle?

From what I remember, people were PM'd invites for it.
Also, PM your crush.

Who cares?

I already did
I did since I wanted to get in but was never notified whether apps were picked or not.

>Apping to that piece of shit
You deserve your disappointment.

Good. You're ahead of the curve.

If we're talking weight class, why are none of the Dragons 1 or Dragons 2 characters a part of this?

Ruhiel was played for exactly one session before the player left the game and nothing about the character implies any kind of titty monster.

Isn't Calsi literally titty monster incarnate.

Both games are titty monster incarnate.

As in they're literally monsters with big titties.

Does Pathfinder REQUIRE optimization?

Depends on your class and if you dont mind being a burden to your group.

I don't know, user, I'm just a titty farmer tending my crop.

there's a difference between being a TITTY monster and a titty MONSTER user

say, a human martial class, I know it's the wrong thread, but starfinder is PF in spess

>he thinks they're mutually exclusive

I thought SF was all about getting cover and shooting?

the underlying systems are similar, as far as optimization goes

You're not wrong

Depends on the Martial class in general also. Slayers and Barbarians can get away without needing too much optimization. Fighters though? You gotta nickel and dime them for all they're worth with the right AWT and AAT and feats. Rogues even moreso

Akashic Mysteries is up on the spheres wiki

Convince me why I shouldn't play a Skald (archetype to trade out spell kenning, of course) trading spells for a martial tradition and adept progression, then using warleader, gladiator, and skald's own rage powers to turn an SoM party into murder machines

Do what makes your heart happy, user. Also what makes your group happy, that's part of being a good player.

I want to give ALL the buffs to people!

Then skald seems entirely fine! It is very good, particularly in a team full of martials.

Why would I want to convince you of moving away from a very good thing?

hi, retardgame requires one more player

the time of game has shifted to 5 pm Wednesdays pst

What would a heretic Inquisitor of abadar look like or do? I'm drawing blanks here.

A Communist/Socialist, focusing on the Church-state control of all economic factors of a nation, and enslavement of the proletariat in the name of progress, civilization, and "the greater good"

What if he's so lawful even uptight abadarites think he's too stuffy?

Anyone have the Starfinder General information? There currently isn't one open...

So less Insane Economist/Zealot, and more Judge Dredd? Could work. I mean, that's basically the Order of the Nail

Pretty much my plan actually. Judge Dress but he's obsessed with having ALL THE LAWS: can't have any legal loopholes or odd situations when every legal situation is documented and explained.

What games are recruiting right now?

>Judge Dress
I would pay money to see that realized.

>Judge Dress
Ugh, I hate the fashion police!

Goddamn phoneposting autocorrect.

The fluff is that he's a Tengu that saw a bunch of Abadarite priests come and instill some law and order into his neighborhood. So he studied them from afar for awhile, then when he was a teenager he tried joining them with his own homemade, hand-stitched Abadarite dress. He was politely turned down but this ignited the fire of THE LAW within him. So he changed his name to THE LAW, carried massive stacks of books so that he could document ALL THE LAWS so that he could show it to the head Abadarite priest and show them that he was devoted to THE LAW. He figures, there can be no ambiguity in the law if all situations and iterations of the applications, loopholes, and vagueness of laws were removed: therefore, his goal is to travel the universe and ensure that everyone knows what to do via following the LAW SKRAW SKRAW SKRAW

Anyways, no it's not a dress, it's a /robe/, very official! This is what official Abadarites wear!

Is the Tears to Wine spell stupidly good? Would you allow a caster to use this spell as-is at your table?

Do you ever think to yourself that you maybe don't like roleplaying games?

I often think, maybe I like role playing games too much.

We'll, it's the reason why Paizo made this game to begin with afterall

I often think that what I want out of a TABLETOP game is very different from what other people around here want out of a "roleplaying" game.

What do you want out of a tabletop game, senpai? Maybe I'm a kindred spirit.

Well, sometimes I do. Then other times I think about how it just wouldn't be the same without them.

No.

I want to fuck that miniature dragon.

A focus on an emergent story and challenging, well-thought out combat encounters. Players that aren't dunces. Themes of high adventure. None of this jerking off over roleplay.
