What alcoholic beverages do you elegan/t g/entlmen partake of during your imaginational romps?
Beer, wine or lick her?

I mostly just freebase DXM.
Beer is the only option
No booze at the table. Water, pop, or hot drinks only.
In character? My current guy is a gin-drinking hedge wizard.
Mostly beer and the occasional mixed drink.
I'll have a few beers, but lately I've been drinking ciders. Ace's pineapple cider is fucking delicious and so is Strongbow's honey.
Who is her and why am I licking?
>why am I licking?
user, come on.
Nobody drinks at the table, just water. We all smoke fat blunts tho
Muh gentleman of African ancestry
Hard Cider, mostly. Usually Smith &a Forge because it's slightly cheaper, or Square Mile. Occasionally Beer when a friend brings it.
Doesn't it impede the game?
I don't drink during my sessions nor do I really encourage others to either. However, if I was to drink, I'd partake of a good ol' rum and coke.
I honestly can't stand most beer, I dunno why. Maybe I'm a sissy who only enjoys sugary shit like wine coolers and cocktails like Long Islands.
Also neither I or most of my friends even have the money to drink weekly.
It's an acquired taste and there's a lot of shitty tasting beer. You like what you like, friend.
No booze at the table. Any other drink is fine as long as it has a secure lid.
I'm the same way. I've tried really hard to find a beer I like, but it all just tastes like crap. I'd rather be a little homo and drink something tasty than "macho" and drink something gross.
In my experience, it makes combat slower if you're unfamiliar with the system, but it doesn't interfere beyond that.
It also makes everyone dig the roleplaying more. I honestly have a hard time really getting into character and doing voices if I haven't partaken.
None whatsoever. I'm three kinds of crazy two of which get worse when inebriated. So I can't be a social drinker.
I'm fine being asocial drinker though - mostly with rum, gin or absinth(e) .
I had my first taste of mead at a D&D session. Hated it then. Found some brands I prefer later.
Friends and I also play a one shot D&D adventure every year one weekend at our local Renfaire. We drink pretty much the whole time: mead, beer, wine, cider, moonshine, scotch, loki, whatever anyone has to share. Last year I had a got a bottle of Kraken spiced rum and it became a rule that anyone who rolled a nat 20 had to take a swig.
Other than that, I don't drink much when playing D&D. I've usually gotta drive home afterwards.
I usually go for Porters or Guinness, with a dalliance of certain shandies (i.e. Leinenkugel summer shandy or Berry Weiss)
People tend to see good tasting beer (the stuff I like anyway. IPAs etc) as pansy or hipster-ish anyway. Craft brews and cheap stuff are both acquired tastes; I like that stuff, and I like "girly" drinks like dark and stormies or mojitos too. I don't look down on either one
None.
If I get drunk or even just tipsy my ability to dm tapers off.
I don't mind I my players drink a bit, especially the newbies since it tends to chill them out for role playing a bit.
But I just stick to juice of some kind and a fuck load of sugars.
Gin and tonic mostly, occasionally scotch and cola
It's amazing how much people judge one another based on what they drink in a way that they don't judge them based on what they eat.
Soda. I can’t GM and drink, plus my doctor told me not to with these meds.
Playing text online, I have no clue what my players are drinking, but I highly doubt half of them are sober.
>especially the newbies since it tends to chill them out for role playing a bit.
Yes, lower the inhibitions of those young men
I'd love to do a drinking session, but a lot of my players are tea totallers.
Not get wasted or anything, just a little greased.
Im a cider boy myself
a few beers are tasty for all
maybe some wine if we're having a meal as well
I do prefer tea and/or coffee though if I'm running the game
Actually they're both girls
I don't drink. The feeling alcohol gives me is hella unnerving.
Now I also really want mead. There's a meadery by my parents that makes great stuff, Earle Estates. If you're by the Finger Lakes region of New York I recommend checking them out.
Gross.
Unless you're easing them up for each other, that's acceptable.
Well I mean I'm a dyke so I wouldnt be against that
I feel like that'd break the bond of trust between DM and vict- i mean players.
Now I see, now I understand...
I and most of the players work at a brewery so we've got more beer than we know what to do with.
It does not. At all. We all get more active and put more soul into roleplaying, we all are familiar with the combat system so it doesn't affect us in a negative way.
rate my setup
I hardly know er!
Good shit. I love me some pineapple in pretty much any beer/cider
If we decide to have a "drinking" session ie. one that doesn't actually count and we restart from the end of the previous session when we pick it up again, I drink whiskey.
I alternate a lot. Some weeks im on a martini kick, sometimes whiskey by itself, and every so often i'll do something stupid complex coz it's fun.
My players vary. One drinks bud lgihts and hurricanes, one drinks whatever red wine he found on sale, one swears he loves tequila but ends up pouring one and leaving it untouched all night.
Maybe a couple of beers but if I really wanna get into a good session alcohol isn't my go to.
I used to mix it up, trying out a variety of beers, wine, and ciders, plus the occasional bourbon.
Then I got on medication that I am allowed to drink while on, but doing so makes the medication not actually do anything for a day or two, so it isn't really worth it...
EXCEPT for when I decide to go out and buy a bottle of Blanton's, which is my favorite of all alcohol.
Depends on where we are in the story.
Usually just red wine and honey lager.
Sleeman is a personal favorite.
>Used to drink cider as I actually liked drinking it
>Suddenly apple and apple products make me violently ill
>My face
Call me a pussy but I can't stand the taste of harder stuff.
Nothing. Everyone is sober and lucid, no exceptions.
Weed
At one of my local stores you can get a four pack of little mini strongbow cans for 99 cents. It's pretty awesome, although you kinda have to drink all four of the little guys for it to have any effect.
>implying anyone likes the taste of hard liquor
>anyone who isn't a lying cunt
That's why "chase" exists.
Your taste in milk is shit, user.
3/10 but only because the cider looks ok.
There's other ciders out there. Pear, for instance.
If you don't like the taste of alcohol, there's always lolly water options available. Some sickening mixture of sugar and vodka.
beer. fuck doing liquor and trying to focus on playing a game. at least with beer you can kinda tell when you're going too far and just stop it before ti start. liquor just smacks you out of nowhere.
Cider's pretty damn good. I've been drinking a lot of Smith & Forge lately.
Beer or cider.
I tend to not bring out the wine, liquor, or mixed drinks, because usually at least 1 or 2 players will go a little too far and start slowing down the game. It's not a disaster, but it does hurt the experience a bit.
Never tried weed during a session, I'm surprised how many anons mention it. I'm a little tempted to try it, now.
I wouldn't allow smoking inside, but luckily edibles are readily available now that it's legalized in my state.
>not liking Aussie milk
>not enjoying your own home made beers and ciders
This one's just an apple cider, but I had a peach and passionfruit cider on tap before.
The beer's just a generic lager.
Postin my next bit of my setup.
And yes, we can drink whatever we want on game nights.
Coffee if I'm DM
Wine with Absinthe if I'm playing
Smoking weed makes for terrible players, they just don't realize it. I guess it's fine if you're all high though.
Strong cider. Our group has worked out which GMs should drink, and which ones should not (We are about 15 people, about 3 GMs in lots of different groups.) When I drink, the game gets harder, since I become a little malicious when drunk. The other two, one becomes very accomodating, the other becomes sleepy. So, only two of us are allowed to drink be consensus of the group, and self rule.
in my personal experience it hasn't been bad. of course I have a really high tolerance and don't typically smoke that much before and during a session anyways.
Try coffee liqueurs like Kahlua. They're sweet as fuck, and if you still can't stand the ~20% alcohol even with all the sweetness you can mix it with milk to your taste.
How can any of you fags smoke weed and have it not fuck up the session? I smoked before D&D and board game nights in college, and I was an obnoxious fuck who everyone knew was baked, and I could barely focus on the game and had a miserable couple hours wishing I just walked around outside listening to Radiohead instead. At least for me, stuff like keeping track of numbers and rules goes out the window when I'm baked, and instead of improving immersion it just makes the whole thing a miserable slog to get through with the time between your turns stretching on to an eternity.
Your group sounds awful
The patrician choice.
Weed helps my group get into character. Also it helps 3/5 of us are basically mathematical prodigies (myself excluded).
Apparently in Japan they consider eating really sweet foods to be girly. I always wonder what they think of tourist American dudes that partake in those comically oversized sundaes they have.
Beer, preferably a pale ale.
Can't stand wine or spirits
Beers and ciders, because you can get a bunch of new tastes for relatively cheap, and it's pretty difficult to get too drunk to play.
Some people just don't. Maybe try a few different types if you're curious - ales and IPAs tend to be on the sweeter side, since that seems to be your taste.
They do fuck up the session but since they're delusional addicts they aren't self aware enough to notice how rude they're being.
Liquor. Brown or clear sipped straight. Preferred Stoli's vodka.
A shot of liquor a half hour before. Loosens me for DMing but any more than this and I feel like I underperform.
Weed is fine if everyone is high and has a laugh. If its just one guy who is constantly fucking shit up then it gets troublesome. Personally I prefer adderall for games
Imaginational?
>He doesn't bottle condition.
Some number out of fuck it.
Elaborate tiki drinks prepared according to the original 1940s recipes.
80% proof Vodka, too much of a pussy for the real thing
>% proof
80 proof is normal for vodka, not sure what you mean by the real thing
Nice. I have a personal love of Zombies but I don't keep the pieces on hand too frequently since they're so damn strong.
true russian vodka is 100%
My nigga.
Neat whiskey just like every night, and morning.
>190 proof everclear
not even jello shots can make the real shit good
come on, SON
>ales and IPAs tend to be on the sweeter side
This is true to a degree, but there are so many different varieties of ales in general and IPAs specifically (West Coast, East Coast, etc.) that he runs a good chance of getting one that's exceptionally bitter.
So I guess what I'm saying is, it depends on the setting.
100 proof Kentucky corn whiskey is my rotgut of choice.
Whatever you say, beta bitch.
Literally impossible to get 100% outside of laboratory conditions, and even then it will be temporary. Ethanol will such up atmospheric moisture the second it comes in contact with air, and won't stop until it hits 98%.
He said 100 proof not 100%. 100 proof is like 50%.
the other guy said 100%, but you're right about the kentucky whiskey guy.
Couple of beers usually if I'm not the one driving that week
I'm almost always driving though.... cause im the only one who owns a car
youtube.com
Kvass for a true medieval styled small beer
I always drink a couple beers and drive anyway
>MURICA
I didn't see that guy. How do people get so full of shit?
>Murica
Welp add that to the list of reasons not to head south for the foreseeable future
I like to hit islay whiskeys. Though if I'm looking for something lighter I will mix kahlua, baileys and vodka together with creme de cacao in a shaker and strain it out over ice. Maybe gin and tonic. Or maybe some amaretto to sip on. I'll drink whatever beer's handy but I prefer Rahr & Sons or Velvet Hammer. God bless.
I'm 27 and I don't drink. I have consumed some alcohol in the past but never much and not since I was 18. At the table I drink soda or tea, formerly Venom energy drink.
Judge me, Veeky Forums.
Do us all a favor and stay wherever you are, pal, thanks.
Hell if I know. They came out with some 192 proof polish vodka recently, I think. But still theres nothing that can handle even close to 100%. Obviously.
If I was gonna judge you for anything it'd be the homestuck. But I won't, since years ago I made the same mistake. Do you teetotal because you hate the taste or do you teetotal because you don't care for how you become?
Weed is great if everyone who partakes is a regular smoker. My group all smokes and when we get high before/during a session it usually makes us more prone to creative and silly ideas, even if mechanically worse. Like with drinking, if you all know the system you're playing it's not an issue. Also has the benefit of wearing off much quicker than alcohol so driving home is never an issue.
I'm uncomfortable with the idea of loosening my inhibitions. I'm afraid I might do or say something and loose all my friends. Secondarily, I'm kind of worried if I drank with any regularity I'd become a full blown alcoholic. I have kind of an addictive personality.
my DM gets lit which honestly makes him allowing crazy shit easier and makes the game alot more fun to an extent
None, don't like the tastes. Also I don't even drink soda because of the sugar, rip fun.
