Well, there's a somewhat monstrous race that I've been trying to design, but I feel like I've hit a wall.

Their arms each have two cartilage spurs, one at the elbow and one at the wrist, that normally lie against the arm, but can be extended to stretch out a patagium for gliding. Their tails are supposed to be flat and prehensile, like a pangolin, and are usually used for hanging from things or as rudders when gliding.

I was thinking some kind of light blue or something for the skin, since they're associated with the element of air. More importantly (and not shown in the sketches), they have a naturally-occurring metal filigree on their skin that basically serves as a natural Faraday cage in case of storms.

The whispy stuff off top is supposed to be a cloud-like emanation from the head, but I can't sketch for shit.

Well, it's not quite what I had in mind--you went a lot louder on the metal than I'd been thinking, for instance--but thanks for giving it a go! Gives me a few ideas for things I can try myself, too--I might end up repurposing the heavier metal approach to something else in the setting.

It's the dwarven/russian equivalent of an yuki-onna, plus eskimo inspiration.

If you like monsters then I've got one you can take a crack at for a WWI/fantasy horror campaign I'm planning.. I'm terrible at drawing myself so I'm going to give you the most detailed art description I can.

Show a demonically possessed horse, lurching towards the camera. The demon possessing this horse is an embodiment of early 20th century war, and as part of the demonic transfomation has violently manifested weapons growing from its body. One of its front legs has grown unnaturally long, and ends in a trio of bayonets or trench knives. From every orifice the fires of a factory forge can be seen glowing, and they perhaps dribble molten metal, or belch black smoke. Its spine is unnaturally contorted, and perhaps a gun barrel, bayonet, or radio antenna sprouts from each vertebrae. Its head has suffered the worst of the transformation. Its eyes bulge from their sockets, on the verge of popping out altogether. From its mouth a cluster of gun barrels emerges, glowing with the heat of the forge. These guns have forced its mouth open too wide, and have caused the skin of its cheeks to rip. Perhaps the skin of its face is sloughing off as well, or ill fitting, like latex mask pulled too tight. Feel free to throw in other embelishments as well. Maybe a human arm holding a sword sprouts from its chest, or belts of bullets dangle from its shredded belly like intestines.

Try making a sketch. Even with shitty drawing skills, most people can manage to get across what they want.

Porn. Lots of it. Practice on porn. The poses and exotic positions give you a crash course on anatomy, structure, and perspective. Once you got that nailed down you can then tweak anatomy to anything you desire. Coloring is a whole 'nother horse.

I...can't say I was expecting that, but all right. Do you have any specific recommendations? Most of the stuff I normally...use isn't particularly big on unusual poses.

You can go to posemaniacs and practice anatomy. It's not good for natural posing. Once you understand muscles, you can get better at gesture drawing from stock photos of just people sitting around. You don't necessarily have to draw porn.

Be patient. Not just with your overall progress, but with a given piece. Don't worry about doing colors or anything else unless you're already happy with the lines--trying to do them out of order so you can "see what it'll look like" will just frustrate you.
