Nth for Screamer-Killer carnifexes

N+1th for traps are gay

youtube.com/watch?v=GA42ibqi-NI
>"Now, some of that colour did catch on that gold detail, but this is really good because it gives a dusty and aged feel, perfect for ruins such as these."

1nd fer assmar marinaratus

I remember collecting Tyranids in 4th edition and they had a lot of options.

What was the appeal to Screamer Killers? Their toxic spit was meh and they had meh killy power. Only upside I remember was that it was cheap.

The greater good let's you avoid overwatch fire.

>Tau
>Not a melee race

Work on your backlog with your PC off you dipstick. Go outside. Just walk around.

You are FAKE DUNCAN

They were cheap and relatively hard to kill. That's why.

Are skull cannons good Against hordes? They seem to have a rule made for it but it doesnt seem that good.

They were just nostalgic, a shout-out to the OG metal Screamer Killer. People have been waiting for that load-out to be good again for ages.

Also back then a Carnifex would 90% of the time one-shot any vehicle in melee, including Land Raiders, so running a cheap one with just talons for under 100 points was viable if you could find a way to get it into melee.

So? Eldar?
Anything good? Anything fucked?
What are we looking at?

How much of a height difference are regular dreads compared to Primaris Marines. I wanted to make a SM chapter to ally with my AdMech. I was gonna fluff them out as getting rekt during some battle and had to deploy a lot of dreads during it. Then the local ForgeWorld reinforced them with Primaris Marines. My only problem is that I have no idea how tall Primaris compared to regular dreads.

2 point fusion guns
Autarchs can summon after disembarking

>denying his overwatch
By dropping in 1" away, I'd be denying my own drone's ability to shoot at anything, and all of my units ability to shoot at that close unit.

I don't know why I'd want to get my drones in CC, tarpitting is barely a thing anymore, but if I did, that's legal.

>you can't...suddenly get melee, even though you haven't charged
>Under what other rule do you bypass overwatch?!
Normal core phase1/phase5 rules? You can move during the movement phase to be 1" from the enemy. You can even Advance to achieve that effect, even though advancing penalizes charging.

Then, during the fight phase, any models 1" away are considered to be in combat. Charge-overwatch isn't s combat requirement.

All charging does is get you there 1d6 faster (maybe, unless you fail) than advancing, gets you shot at, and guarantees that the charging unit gets to fight before the unit that they charged does.

You probably the kind of fag who thinks all of their units fight first in their own turn.

wraiths basically back up to their old statline
bunch of stuff is cheaper
neat-o SC box

Not only that but the GW and FW FAQs have reverted to 1.1 at some point.

Do you expect Scatbike and Wraith armies to be as common as they were in 7th?

I'm guessing yes because aspect models are still failcast

summon?

Pretty good. Looks like Eldar will be able to run some pretty diverse lists as nothing we've seen so far has been bad. So if you like having a list made up of multiple different units with a shit ton of psyker support if you want to go crazy you could have up to 18 fucking powers a turn you're in luck.

Illic Nightspear does flat 3 damage a shot now
D-Cannons and Heavy D-Scythes are S12
Heavy Wraithcannons are S16
Wraithguards, Blades, and Lords all got +1 Toughness
Hawks can bomb a victim the turn they deep strike
basically everything got a points discount, some of them gigantic (Support Batteries and Falcons cost like 50 points less)
Fire Prisms shoot twice a turn and can link their fire to bounce shots/power up
Vibro-Cannons fire d3 shots now
Avatars of Khaine can run around with multiple free respawns
Obligatory "free move" psychic power for bikes and infantry on top of 2 mobility-boosting stratagems

>Normal core phase1/phase5 rules? You can move during the movement phase to be 1" from the enemy.
Derp.

During the movement phase you may not move within 1".

In the fight phase units with models with 1" may fight.

what other choice could there be in the face of that?

Head comes up to the bottom of the shoulder.

>if you want to go crazy you could have up to 18 fucking powers a turn
>1ksons players autistic REEEEing in the distance

The humble Guardian Defender and the furtive Dire Avenger, so easily forgotten.

Any predictions on how 'Nids will be able to compete with shooty meta?

so easily killed

Screamer-killer is an in-universe slang term for the original carnifex which had exactly 1 configuration. Over time it became a term of a specific configuration of carnifex with 2 sets of scything talons and bio-plasma. People want screamer-killer carnifexes to be good because it is the prototypical carnifex.

So alittle higher than the leg of a dread?
To be fair the Eldar are a race of naturally gifted psykers who make shit outta nothing with their minds
Also I didnt count Ynnari in that power count so technically it could be 21

Volume of shots with rerolls to hit and wound baxked up by a few hopefully buffed bio cannons to crack heavy armor

This. It was the bolter marine of carnifexes.

Is it worth painting camo on guardsmen or are you better off just keeping a flat two-tone scheme?

You can't move within 1 inch of an enemy unit during the movement phase, or using a rule that behaves like the movement phase. However, Tau drone strikes aren't moving. They count as having moved, but don't obey the rules for doing a movement.

You can make it work, you just have to ask yourself if it's worth the time and effort to do over presumably dozens if not at least a hundred Guardsmen.

>So alittle higher than the leg of a dread?

More than a little. Primaris legs are about as long as a Dread's legs.

Twats like you are the reason everyone hates Tau players

t. Tau player

Paint is simply a pride/accomplishment thing so it's entirely subjective.

How smug are you going to feel for painstakingly painting camouflage on 100 dudes vs slapping some paint and a wash on them and then going to the movies with your spare time?

Bolter Carnifex when?

I haven't played a game since 4th edition, but with the advent of Tyranids coming down and Thousand Sons finally getting some love I'm looking to get back into it.

I've got 2 full squads of Rubric Marines, a squad of Sons of Malal that I'm going to run as Rubrics, and I found a bag of 33 terminators in all my dusty shit. Also bought Magnus and Ahriman. Anything else I should look into getting?

What will you confess before the Blessed Lady?

Fuckin loyalists need to get on my chainaxe.

reminder that you don't have to glue glands and such on tyranids because they can just have the organs inside their chitin which makes more sense

I want to put her skull on my skull throne.

Berserker resculpts never.

Consortium does not approve of this practice.

>reminder that you don't have to glue glands and such on tyranids

I don't bloody think WYSIWYG allows it.

you can either have the models you have now or get new models that look terrible

I'll take the bigger terrible models.

How do Slaanesh/Khorne/Nurgle daemons deal with vehicles?

Greater deamons seem like the only thing that deals big damage. Smite spam maybe?

I almost want tyranids to suck again so i can continue shitposting

I am rubric hear me REEEE

nobody glued extra armor on their vehicles either. it was just on the inside of the armor

/yourdudes/ sure as shit does

I kind of want to start Daemons of Khorne so i can also get into Age of Sigmar.

I'm not usually one to post things from ebay, but this one hurt my soul.

Yes. That's glitter.

I want to add Nurgle Daemons to my Death Guard for the same reason.

Or kitbash.

No wip thread so I figured I should ask here, any advice on building and painting a Taurox Prime? Should I paint the suspension system first before gluing for example?

Okay, but you lose a point of strength and toughness due to reduced muscle and bone mass. .

Nids should get "tactics" in the same way that other armies get their chapter/legion/craftworld tactics, but the twist should be that Nids can change theirs with CP or with a dice roll. Nids adapting to changing batlefield conditions on the fly, with troops that can change specialisms in an instant because the bugs have uncountable millenia of ancestral battle experience to tap into, is kinda their shtick.

Saying "behemoth is good at shooting buildings" is anathema to Nids.

There is a fuckload of reasons why they aren't good anymore.

1. They used to have the same save as terminators. 3+ on 2D6. In the present day that would be 2+/5++, but what they actually get is a 3+, because tyranids are not allowed 2+ saves anymore for some reason.
2. Bio-plasma sucks, this used to be a powerful and heavy weapon effective at long ranges. Now it's a non-overchargeable plasma cannon with 12" range. Which is exceptionally useless considering the BS4+ of a carnifex.
3. Inverse stat creep. Carnifexes have been gotten progressively worse stats over time for no apparent reason.
4. Loss of wargear.

Not a bad idea, by it self. Just purely executed
Pigments that are shinny exist and sold.

how much is it put up for?

looks like crusty pie

With all the hatred of the game i feel like mentioning it at all anyway where is against some secret rule.

And Ultramarines, as masters of all forms of warfare, should be able to use every other army's tactics at the same time.

that's like saying marines should be T3

But the Dread is still definitively larger? They won't look goofy together.

Only if the extra organs were normally on the outside.

I do not and have not ever in 18 years of this hobby ever glued either adrenal glands or toxin sacs to any tyranid model.

I want to start GSC, just because my two armies are in the Broken op tier.
Haven't lost a single game with my SoB since 8th and IG only lost 2 games...

So yah pure GSC sounds fun. Specially from the hobby aspect of the game

what if the organs were inside a tyranids tail? that won't affect their toughness

Space Muslims feel a bit odd on the tabletop.

Do they have enough models to make them viable?

>not allowed 2+ saves anymore for some reason.

Which is shit. I mean, even if you go "yeah, but adamantium vs. organic bone plate," you have to remember that, for example, insects do have metals in their carapace and fangs to make them stronger. I seem to recall spiders or at least some spiders develop higher and higher concentrations of metals in their fangs as they age, making them harder and more capable of piercing prey.

Tyranids should have all the capability to digest metals and produce carapace compounds laced with metals to make tougher armour. Isn't there some fluff where they have adamantium laced in their talons or claws?

>what if the organs were inside a tyranids tail?

They lose attacks and movement speed.

>But the Dread is still definitively larger?

Have you never actually seen a dreadnought?

>this statline today would be 9" Mv WS 2+ BS 3+ S7 T8 W10 A4 Ld 10 Sv 2+/5++ with a 36" Heavy D3 S8 AP -4 D D6 gun
>for 100 points

Why would they hate ludicrously fast Tau combat drops?

The Seige of the Glitter Planet was a brutal campaign, many died, many more suffered horrible psychological trauma.
How dare you mock their sacrifice!

If tyranids are bad again, I'm dropping the game

why doesn't every tyranid have at least 2 attacks more than a human being because they have more arms and elbow spikes?

>tfw Nids will never get anti-orbital plasma artillery bugs

They will be. Cruddace won't allow them to be good any longer. V

Should I model my Custodes with the Storm Shields or with the Spears?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Termagant

Because Crud is a huge faggot

Inferior genes.

>why would they hate tau violating one of the core rules of the game
Ftfy

why haven't they just adapted their genes? frodo.jpg

Tyrant guard legitimately took the black carapice from marines, the swarmlords swords are allegedly able to cut through ceremite like air, and carnifexes can reduce marines to a fine paste with their plasma, theres literally zero reason tyranids cant have a 2+ save

Mix and Match
Best loadout imo is two sword and shield, two spear, and one shield and banner

There is all kinds of lore and weapon and biomorph descriptions across various editions that talk about tyranid organisms and weapons using metallic materials. But that's really irrelevant since materials made of carbon are frequently some of the strongest materials known to exist. I don't think tyranids having bad saves has a basis in lore, tyranids are frequently described as being incredibly tough and are often described as having defenses equivalent to those of imperial troops.

I think bad saves is just a design meme that has been carried through editions just because.

Simply having steel or supermetals laced in between your organic compound armor doesn't necessarily make you tougher. If I made of chain out of steel links and rubber bands, the steel doesn't make the chain stronger does it?

That said, Carbon is a common building block of organic matter, and that alone makes some of the strongest and most resilient materials known to man; diamond, carbon fiber, etc. I can see specialized organic armor being a thing on it's own, though it would have to be exceptionally thick.

spears give +1 strength, shields give +3 invul. Shields are probably better, but spears look cooler so do those

...

i don't want hormagants to be 9~ points again

>black carapice

That's not armour, though. It's just a film that's inserted under your skin to help form neural connections with your devices. But yes, 2+ for Nids, totally.

Their inferior genes ensure they're bad at adaptation.
