What's Veeky Forums's consensus on Exalted? I really don't feel good
Carter Morgan
I don't like you butting into here uninvited to start shit. We are neck deep in Mage Supremacists, we don't need idiots throwing fuel into fire.
Brody Diaz
Ech one of my players had a dream about sun being engulfed by darkness(dark souls 3 style) and woke up with sunburns
Basic stuff
Gavin Campbell
It's a nice setting. THe system on the other hand..... has issuesss.
(also there is a thread here for exalted).
Nicholas Rogers
God I would be horrified if that happened to me.
Sunburns are the worst.
Christopher Bailey
Do you really think I give a shit?
Hudson James
How do you think the various leech groups in VtM would react if the masquerade got broken?
It would probably happen due to youtube, livestreams, or live broadcast news.
Don't think stage magic, think the most blatantly supernatural stuff they have access to.
Isaac Adams
Well, you are shutting right now, so that technically qualifies. Don't you have your own thread to ruin?
Gabriel Baker
Go fuck off to the exalted board. Wank all you want over there.
Asher Smith
>Don't think stage magic, think the most blatantly supernatural stuff they have access to.
like the kind that makes a technocrat go full "REALITY DEVIANT DETECTED. PREPARE FOR TERMINATION".
Nathan Ross
Who gives a shit?
Elijah Ortiz
Not like a lot of technocracy stuff isn't blantantly supernatural
Jordan Bennett
"I'll have you know my disintegration canon MK-VI is fully explainable by modern science".
Brody Garcia
We are so cucked
Brody Ortiz
Do you need a hug?
Sebastian Miller
That's ok as long as its safe and consensual.
T. cult of ecstasy
Parker Clark
Doesn't that fetish have deep roots in racism and inferiority complex?
Jonathan Wood
I think that if someone is both racist and a cuckold, then their racism likely stems from an inferiority complex too.
Jace Campbell
It looks like its sci-fi, so their ok with it
Jayden Brown
>I'm ok with space battlecruiser floating above downtown LA but one guy smacking other guy with a car to with the second guy responded by turning into werewolf is too much
Aaron Murphy
This but unironically.
Nicholas Jenkins
Is... Is this a surprise to you? Even putting aside the benefits of a more stable, regulated reality, hypertech just seems so much fucking cooler than just wishing really hard.
Jace Wood
What's the difference though? Hypertech, magic, it's all just reality warping.
Mason Scott
Style, user. Style.
Cameron Bailey
In all honesty, I like both.
Jordan Thomas
Yes. That is what the technocracy feels.
Nolan Robinson
No I'm talking about suspension of disbelief
Jonathan Cox
Well, there's a reason why the Technocracy still needs to keep its battlecruisers secret. They're still pretty Vulgar tech.
Jeremiah Price
>Regale me with your spooky stories and all the horrifying monsters you've encountered in your games.
I actually just DMed a horror game with only one player in celebration of Halloween (and my other players being sissies for not wanting to be scared). It went great, he had nightmares for the whole night after that.
Lucas Rodriguez
To actually enjoy Ascension you need to either fully buy into Consensual Reality as the explanation for everything, pick one part and focus on it, or have absolutely no problem taking Jackie Chan, Gandalf, Dante, and Robocop fighting Dr. Dinosaur's undead Nazi steampunk cyborgs on the secret seventh moon of Venus to get the Allspark as a campaign pitch at face vaule.
David Butler
Why did Dr. Dinosaur build nazi cyborgs instead of Raptor Jesus clones. It makes no sense man
Elijah Rivera
Dr. Dinosaur has moved away from creations involving his brethren ever since the Futuresaurus Rex incident.
Daniel Gutierrez
One in with Cryopig felt into Secret Stalin Matter Collider?
Eli Thompson
What would Technocracy's stance on McFarland be?
Aiden Martin
Send him to deep umbra
Jordan Green
I'm having trouble with the Familiar rules for 2e. And the rules for making Ephemeral Entities in general. It's just going right over my head. So if you want to have the version of a Familiar where it's an entity inside an animal, they have to Fetter a living thing AND be small enough to actually hide inside of it? And the living thing gets the Urged Condition and the entity can't actually use its powers unless it Unfetters itself and comes out of the fetter temporarily? How do I appropriately stat one?
I know that Dave and his team had to prioritize heavily, but some example entities would have really helped. I don't think they're the same as they are in 1e.
Brayden Kelly
It was a Technocracy plant that accused him, you fool.
Elijah Johnson
What sort of mage would Fox Mulder be?
Jason Torres
To be blunt, don't have a Fettered familiar. You're shooting yourself in the foot, then stabbing the hole.
The biggest benefit of the Familiar merit is that your familiar get the familiar condition, which is a universal protection against essence loss. They can go anywhere, do anything, and they still won't lose the condition.
The universe essentially becomes Resonant to them.
Also you build them as per the rules for ephemeral entities. Unless of course you meant the animal. In which case no clue.
The best way to trick the system is to have Spirit 4, and to use Bind Spirit to give it the Claim condition on such an animal.
Austin Stewart
A mediocre one.
Cameron Mitchell
It's pronounced CRPG, you mongrel!
Benjamin Perry
That's super gay. What's the point of having a familiar if it can't be like an intelligent ferret with powers? Also, I'm saying I can't get a grip on the rules to build ephemeral entities.
Sebastian Hill
Okay.
Set Rank, that determines attribute points, and maximums. Spend them. Figure out dervied values such as defence. Look to the table for that. Then figure out if it gets influences, distribute points equal to its Rank between 1 or more influences, capping at Rank. Then spend its Numina, remembering you can drop a numina to get another point of Influence, but not in excess of Rank. Then determine, according to its fluff, an appropriate Ban (restricted action or compulsion) and Bane (antithetical, non-magical element which can easily destroy its existence).
Spirits get Numina and Influences. Ghosts get Numina and their Influence is only upon Anchors. Goetia don't get Influences. Supernal Entities don't get Influences, they instead get Supernal Magic with infinite reach.
Jackson Cruz
I'm thinking of running a Technocracy game where the main enemies will be Demons/Angels from Descent yay or nay?
William Baker
Do it! >There is no bitchin' in my kitchen!
Aaron Walker
Goetia do have Influences though. It says so right in the 2e core, and even in the Astral Realms book from 1e they have Influences.
Jace Reyes
Storytime?
Brandon Ward
It can still be a fucking ferret spirit with powers, just dont make it a material one.
Samuel Bell
all correct except about goetia
> Rank to increase Influence dots at a cost of one Numen per dot.Spirits and GOETIA have Influences that >relate to their natures, but that may be used in multiple circumstances
Noah Wright
Alright, but what the hell am I supposed to with these Attribute points? Is that for Influences and Numina? All the other traits are derived from a combination of the three main ones.
Jason Sanders
Fucking hell, its like you havent even read the book.
Spirits have 3 stats: Power, Finesse and Resistance. Divide the attribute points between those 3. Then see how many Numina that spirit rank has and give the spirit suitable numina etc etc.
How fucking hard do you need to make it?
Carson Morris
With pleasure
>make the character sheet quickly, just need some idea of what the character can do >turn off the light and give the player five red light sticks as his only mean to see and see the dice >turn on spooky music (Penderecki mostly) >character is the grown up version of a kid character he played in one of my Halloween one shots >kid grew up un the suburbs raised by an only mother and witnessed supernatural events when he was around eight >having lots of imagination, the adults around him understood his talking about moving shadows as a way to express himself and his trauma, which he was made to believe to be true >kinda pushed the events in the back of his mind >had to quit school early to get a job and support his mother >is now a sort of beafy, tall, big nice construction workers that reads lots of books and plays WH40K and Zelda in his free time >he is driving home from work as it's getting late when he gets into a car accident and looses consciousness >wakes up some time later in what seems like a hospital but makes him uneasy : it's too bare, there's not much medical equipment and his stuff doesn't seem to be here, there's not button to call nurses etc... >also he notices that there seems to be nothing wrong with him, he doesn't feel pain but doesn't seem to be on painkillers and his body looks just fine. >notices the windows are barred >he gets up and starts to walk towards the door when a nurse arrives, politely but firmly asking him to go back to sleep, telling him that he needs rest and medication >she tells him she's gonna get something for his stress and be right back, he nods
cont.
Connor Ortiz
>as she walks out, hides in the closet >she comes back, sees that he's not in there and gets out again, not seeming the least bit concerned or afraid >he gets out and realizes he's in a plain white corridor that leads to a lot of rooms just like his, with no numbers on the doors, no markings on the floor or nothing you'd expect from a real hospital >sees a swing door at one end of the corridor and runs towards it >when he gets out of the "hospital", he finds himself at the crossing of three corridors that all look like they come from different buildings >the left one has a thick red carpet on the floor and is lit by fancy looking lamps, he can hear music and what sounds like casino machines being played coming from there >the right one has an old green carpet, mustard yellow walls and vintage lamps and there are what seems like appartment doors on each side for what seems like a long way >the one right in front of him looks like an abandonned building, striped of all lights, with tagged walls and a cold wind coming from it >after a minute of thinking about it and checking no nurses are after him, he goes down the left corridor >finds himself in front of a golden door and a welcoming mat that says "Casino" >he gets in and sees that it is indeed a casino >it has casino machines, a bar, no windows and no clocks >the only people playing are sick/drugged up looking people in hospital robes that don't seem to see him as he passes or talks to them >no vigils, no dealers, no bartenders
cont.
Eli Evans
I wasn't talking about the Trait points. I meant the Attribute dots, under the column "Attribute Dots" on the Rank chart.
Christopher Hall
>there's a tall blonde at the bar drinking a cocktail, who seems to be the only "normal" person in there >so he goes to talk to her >she is very beautiful and charming, she gives him water to drink from the bar and tells him everything is for free here >doesn't answer clearly his questions >"Where are we ?" >"Well... In a casino dear !" >he starts to get very suspicious and notices a strange smells coming from her, the kind of smell you would only find in a hospital for terminally ill patient, a faint scent of illness and imminent death >he takes leave from her and tries to find something in the casino that could help him but only realizes that just like the hospital, this room seems suspiciously bare of anything outside from the 'main elements' of a casino, like a theater or movie set where you don't need the details >he gets out of here, starting to think he may be dreaming that weird architecture and those strange places, but nonetheless tries the right corridor with the vintage appartments >on his way he notices a silhouette walking in the middle corridor but doesn't want to get involved with that one >walks to the right one this time, hearing sounds of radios and TVs coming from appartments but no human voices or footsteps >the corridor goes on and on for a very long time but when he reaches the end, there's just a dead end
Adam Perry
>when he starts to go back to where he started, a forty year old man opens an appartment door and calls out for him >he looks very exhausted, is in his bathrobe and holds a cup of tea >"Hey, young man, are you lost ?" >of cours he is so he explains the situation to the man that sighs and invites him over to have a cup of tea and talk about it >he avoids questions about the building and just states "It's just my flat, I live here, like my neighbours." >they have a cup of tea and the nice man tells him that if he can't find a way out, he'd better move in here and just take a vacant appartment. >that doesn't reassure the PC at all and he prefers to get out of the flat, saying goodbye to the man by shaking his hand >he notices that his host's arm is covered in small, round, pale scars but he doesn't have the time to ask about if because when he tries, the flat owner gets a bit angry and chases him away >PC walks back to the intersection, more and more puzzled about all this and realizes there's only one way left to go
cont.
Jackson Sanchez
A rank 2 spirit has 9-14 points to spread between power, finesse and resistance stats with a trait max of 7 dots in each of them.
So it can have Power: 7, Finesse: 5 and Resistance: 2
What part of it cant you get. You are really fucking dumb.
Jack Carter
>he walks into the middle corridor >it's dark and cold, it looks like it once was like the "appartments" one but got destroyed by some kind of natural disaster before being left like that for years >there are no doors, just door frames >atfer a while, he comes across a room that emits something that looks like the light of a fire and he carefully walks towards it >in the corner of the room there is a camping stove and a man sitting in front of it with his back turned to the door >the man doesn't move or seem to notice PC's presence >PC calls to see if he reacts and he does, asking him what he wants in a deep tone of voice >PC explains that he is lost and hungry and wants to get out of here >"That's what we all want kiddo." >he gets up, his hoodies is hiding his face in the room's darkness >PC suddenly feels uneasy, like in front of a predator >"You're very brave to come by at this hour in my domain. Come sit by the fire" >the man sits down, very calmly and after a while, PC decides to do just that and sits, his back turned to the wall and facing his 'host' >they talk for a while and the guy makes allusions to the fact that he's the only honest one of the three "residents" and that, contrary to the other two, he won't eat him because he's not hungry
cont. (I'm gonna speed up at this point I have places to be)
Samuel Thomas
You need to shut your fucking mouth next time.
Isaiah Mitchell
So for Rank 2 entities, 9 is the minimum and 14 is the maximum?
Parker Martinez
Yes. If you decide it only has 9 points in attributes you can assign them as such:
Power 7, Finesse 1 & Resistance 1 if you really wanted too or 3/3/3 or any combo from 9 to 14 as long as none of the 3 traits go over the trait max
Brody Brown
Alright, I see. Thanks for your help.
Nolan Jones
>at this point, PC is lost and afraid but weirdly trusts the guy that calls himself Ayub >Ayub tells him the only thing he really wants is paint to keep on tagging the walls but that the "shipping" have stopped >PC understands from the cryptic things Ayub says that the three people he encountered all eat humans, the ones that come from the hospital and also that the three of them are as locked up in here as he is >PC leaves Ayub and starts looking at the tags, notices there seems to be a running theme : it's always portraits of people and they all have antlers >PC goes back to the blonde lady and tries to convince her to give him something to eat (he's starving at this point) and she agrees as long as he comes into her room >follows her into her room and discovers the way she apparentl eats : twenty or thirty patient, immobile, still breathing, but all missing limbs of various proportions. Their wounds are open but not bleeding. >she doesn't seem moved by it in the least bit and goes to remove her makeup, revealing a terrifying face that looks more like that of a cadaver than a human >she tells him that he is her ticket to freedom, since she's weakened by all the drugs she absorbs through her meals and he is the first clean human she came across since she was brought here >the cogs start turning in PC's head
cont.
Brody Ortiz
>he takes a lamp that's on her table and knocks her out with it before using the patients' robes to tie her up tightly, gag her and blindfold her >he takes her on his shoulder but when she wakes up, all the humans sitting quietly in her room start moving again, trying to get the PC at all cost to save the blonde >he runs to Ayub's corridor and offers the blonde as a meal, understanding that if he eats a powerful being he might be able to help them break out >Ayub tells him he doesn't want to break out for he is a monster and doesn't want to start killing outside again >Ayub tells him that he may have a chance to break out if he gets to meet the operator and if he survives meeting him >PC leaves blondie on the floor and runs to the hospital before taking a nurse hostage, screaming about meeting the operator >he hears rattling above him and a trapdoor in the ceiling opens not far from him >the nurse says that the operator will receive him >he has to crawl up the trapdoor and in the dark for long minutes, following a stressful rattling sound that leads him to a ventilation shaft >when he gets out, he finds himself in an office with no windows and a very old, very ugly man sitting in a big chair on the other side of the desk
cont.
Bentley Morales
>the operator firmly asks him to leave now or assume the consequences >PC tries to find out what was happening and what this place is, not feeling the danger this man represents >operator gets angry and makes a move to catch him and bite his throat >PC succeeds in getting away and takes the office door that leads to dark stairs going up for a long time, curious rats following him at he climbs up >gets out of the building, finds he is in an abandonned industrial area far from the city he lives in >hungry, thristy, exhausted, he collapses not far from the nearest highway and is retrieved by paramedics a few horus later >wakes up in a hospital, finds out he went missing from another hospital a few days ago >keeps the supernatural stuff to himself but admits being kidnapped and taken to this indutrial area >when the cops go there, they only find empty building and recent tire tracks
end oh and fuck you
Ethan James
Don't mind the angry user. His mom probably didn't buy him that Pennywise costume he wanted. Thanks for sharing.
Leo Gomez
you're welcome it's hard to restore the ambiance and feel by greentext but I assure you he was stressed as fuck during the entire thing
Jose Torres
PC player is a giant pussy if that rattled him.
Gabriel Hall
Since the book will feature 6 conspiracies and compacts, with both including a new one, which of the old ones won't make it into 2nd edition core in your opition?
Kayden Bailey
I've heard that Ashwood Abbey is being tossed. Whatever that is.
Camden Adams
The fun chaotic evil group who hunt monsters for fun.
William Murphy
It's less tossed and more "demoted to Compact Creation example," to make it easier to convert over.
They're just libertines who party way too hard. It's the Hunt Club that's actually chaotic evil.
Anthony Ross
Hunting Lodge are Chaotic Evil, but they just have too much fun hunting undesirables rather than monsters.
Jack Wright
What are some series that have captured the WoD mood?
Jayden Lopez
I don't get this rule.
>If you’re not sure whether to use resistance or a contested action, use this guideline: Resistance applies in situations where the number of successes on the roll is an important factor. If what matters is just whether the roll succeeds or not, use a contested action.
Seems easy enough to understand, but then the book gives a bunch of examples where the number of successes doesn't really matter but they're still resisted instead of contested. If anything the distinction in their examples seems to be things that are passively resisted against things which you actively have to fight against, which makes a lot more sense. Am I being retarded or is there something I'm missing?
Gavin Roberts
So reading about the next edition of WoD, the Werewolf part makes no fucking sense. They're starting up Impergium, in the modern day. How exactly do they plan to pull this one, without getting outright carpet bombed into oblivion?
Noah Rogers
>then the book gives a bunch of examples what fucking book you cocksucker
Camden Clark
Tokyo Ghoul, Hellsing
It's fucking idiotic is what it is.
That's the thing I hate the most about the next edition of WoD, they seemingly took the most idiotic scheme for each of the splats that only a single fucking bloodline/tribe/whatever cared about, and decided "hey, yeah, this sounds like a cool plot, let's make it the MAIN FUCKING PLOT WHEN IT HAS ZERO FUCKING CHANCE OF FUCKING WORKING, THIS SOUNDS LIKE A LOGICAL PATH THAT THESE PEOPLE WOULD TAKE".
God fucking damn it, my reservoirs of salt are rising to ocean levels.
Charles James
Does anyone know what page the rules for making Atlantian creatures are on?
Are they even there in 2e?
Asher Brooks
Atlantis is a myth in 2e.
Even in 1e what the fuck are Atlantian creatures.
What the fuck are you on about?
Jaxson Ramirez
Good story, user.
Easton Foster
If you mean Supernal beings, then they are in the same place as the spirit/goetia creation rules which starts on page 252 in 2e awakening.
Tyler Brooks
Probably Ananke and Temple Guardians.
Brayden Lee
theonyxpath.com/whatever-happened-to-my-transylvania-twist-monday-meeting-notes/ >Speaking of 2nd Editions…I hear there may be a long-awaited Geist 2nd Edition preview coming this week!
Thought this might be of interest to some of you
Connor Howard
Ananke will be in SoS.
Nolan Russell
Yeah things like those.
Jose Wood
Can't you just use those from 1st edition Core and Secrets of the Ruined Temple?
Mason Jones
Wahts impergium
Tyler Morales
Genocidal euthanasia.
Blake Torres
I guess. I just wanted to know if 2e had its own rules for making creatures from the Time Before.
Connor Collins
You could use Cryptids. Or Pandorans. Or just use the rules for Ephemeral Entities. What sort of rules are you missing?
Asher Rivera
>The Impergium was the culling of the human population practiced by the Garou in prehistoric times. The Red Talons still call for a return to the Impergium today, blaming the unchecked spread of humanity for the madness of the Weaver and the Wyrm and the slow death of Gaia.
Carson Rivera
Werewolfs ancient policy of culling the the human population.
Dylan Thomas
It isn't. A preview this week means a leak in 3 years.
Austin Wilson
HAHAH! Beckett's Jyhad Diary backer PDF released today. Best Halloween present EVER.
Ian Nelson
Another Seraph of the End Mushi-shi The preview didn't state that they were 'starting up the Impergium' again, that some Tribes are FOR a new Impergium. I expect 5e to take shines from the BNS and have a political split in the Garou Nation regarding humanity.
Samuel Butler
>Seraph of the End
That's probably the gayest anime I have ever seen
Evan King
...
Ryder Parker
Oh sweet. Here's hoping someone shares it in the next few days. I mainly want to take a peek at it because they said it would form the basis for the metaplot of 5e.
