Rule question (I dont have a rule book yet). Today in my second game the guy I was playing charged me from around a corner and said I couldnt fire overwatch since I couldnt see the model when he declared the charge.

Is this true? I thought I could do overwatch no matter what (even if I get -1 to shooting, 6 ALWAYS hits, right?) and is it legal that he can charge a unit that his model couldn't see before declaring the charge?

That is true, and is a technically of how the overwatch rules are written. You shoot overwatch the moment the charge is declared, and if you can't see you can't shoot. Similarly, if he were to charge you from outside your weapon's range, like if he charge from 10" away and you're using flamers, you would also not get to fire overwatch against him.

I think they're kind of just crap in concept. They are slow units that need to be close in order to use their weapon. Other dedicated flame units get around it by having transport options (like Burna Boys) or being fast from the get go (Tzeentch Flamers). Pyrovores can't do either short of putting them in a pod. More speed doesn't fit their fluff, and more range just makes them crappier biovores. Can't think of a fix that works.

You play IG because you like to roll all the dice. Not actually hit with them, mind you, just roll them.

The more math and thought I put into the tentacle fucking the Blood Angels got by the nids on Baal the more bad things look for them with their up coming codex. Twenty five successor chapters showed up, of that only three are known to not be at full strength, and it is known that the Cryptus Campaign a scant year before inflicted heavy casualties upon the Blood Angels themselves and the Flesh Tearers.

From this I know that you have a max of 26,000 marines, but, given numbers known it is at max 24,400 marines, given casualties and the short time frame it is even smaller maxing at 24,000 marines. From here you throw in casualties of other chapters being 100 overall through the 13th black crusade and all that other shit going on at the time right before Leviathan landed in Baal? You end up with around 21,000 marines. Of this we know in a single day 5 chapter masters died, it is easy to say most of these 21,000 marines died leaving each chapter involved dependent upon Primarus and old marine replacements over the next 150 years. But, boy, that's a kick in the nads for morale. Expecting heavy use of Primarus in the fluff.

Building on this, they all had Embraces at one point, but one user pointed out they'll be to few and as glass clowns, melt to blobs.

I love Death Guard in this iteration so much.

There are so many ways I want to play, all of them different.

They got dropped to 98pts and can shit out 20 devourer gants who shoot twice at like and reroll 1s. So thats like 120 S4 shots. Rumour leaks say devourers went up to 6 shots each but I think the leaker was mistaken because thats rediculous for gants. If its true then its like 180 shots.

Alternativly dump Old One Eye or Swarmlord in one and charge fuckers on turn one.

They don't hit as hard as dreadnoughts

They dont shoot as well as dreadnoughts

They aren't as tanky as dreadnoughts or equivalent monsters

They aren't cheaper than dreadnoughts or equivalent monsters

Worse, they have worse bs and ws than dreads and you can't put chapter master/lieutenant bubbles on them

they serve no purpose, are weak generalists, and garbage specialists.

GW really needs to unfuck them because god damn; just like banshees, scorpions, and phoenix lords I love the models and curse the rules.

You are already getting shit on, the question is how much harder will you get shit on.

You can put 20 of any model in there regardless of size and can put monsters in them. They also cost about as much as drop pods, have better weapons, can fly (so they aren't stuck where they land, and are as hard to kill as a rhino so they aren't dead to a stiff breeze.

I bring 30 tac marines in my Blood Angels Army. What is an even worse use of points you can think of?

Tac squads, Scouts, Rhinos, other vehicles, put Flyers in front that the Zerkers can't charge, put Guilliman in front and tank everything, etc.

If you make your whole army out of lynchpin units that you can't afford to lose, you'll always get fucked by alpha strike.
