Custom Chapters

Do you have any good chapter concepts that you need help fleshing out tg?

I'm thinking of making a land raider/speeder based chapter called the "Fuel Guzzlers" founded to deal with traitor mechanicus and other tech based heretics. Their recruiting world is a petrolpunk-esque type world that managed to survive the age of strife with a decent mars-level understanding of technology which makes them fiercely resentful of the admechs and refuse to acknowledge their use. They are in a constant struggle for independence from the admechs and have gotten in trouble multiple times for suspected techno-heresy. One of their flaws is an addiction to the mass consumtion of fuel (anything that makes vehicles go vroom) which despite their augmented abilities is still very unhealthy, it makes their natural lifespan slightly shorter and their body's slightly frailer but gives them a high that massively increases their driving abilities somehow. Their sigil is a bronze pair of lips with petrol pouring out. What should their founding chapter and warcry be?

I suggest changing the heraldic device to a flaming goblet. Helps avoid the Rolling Stones look, unless that was intentional.

Name is a little silly too - Promethiophages ("The Eaters Of Promethium") or " Brotherhood Of The Sacrament" (that sacrament being fuel or Promethium) or something. "FUEL GUZZLERS" sounds like an Ork Klan name. "DA FYOOL GUZZLAS".

Colour scheme is great. Red and white is top tier.

Forgot to mention they where able to avoid becoming a forge world despite all their sprawling industrial cities due to the astronomical amounts and different types of fuels the world can provide. The world is so flammable fires and tools that could potentially start are prohibited, needles to say this chapter will not be using flamers.

Thanks for the naming advice

I came up with a legion for one of those 'alternate universe Horus Heresy' things, based on the Ancien Regime of France.

Would have liked to have fully fleshed them out but the project was going in a direction I didn't like the look of so I got out of dodge as quickly as I could.

great concept, maybe try with the main colors white and gold and only the soft armor blue instead. Gives them a much nobler look. This would go well as a blood angles succsesor as sanguinious is basically an idealized version of French royalty. The blood drinking could be a metaphor if you give them a craving for the blood of hive scum and other peasants that they suppress with enemy blood.

How did you do that, is there a painter for Horus Heresy?

Well, this is fantastic, but I think I made it russian and I don't know how to put it back in english.

Nothing much, but here's what I have written for them so far:

The Defenders of Ciorte is a space marine chapter tasked with guarding and protecting the Ringworld in the Ciorte system along with the nearby worlds. They are a successor to a chapter that was at one point successor to the Ultramarines Chapter. It is unclear, but fractured records suggests that their parent chapter probably are the Ultramarines from the 4th Company.
The chapter master for the Defenders of Ciorte is Augustus Sisko, a calculating and hardened Astartes that has faced many enemies to the Imperium during his lifetime.

thanks to this I could also make how they are going to look once i start with my Space Marine army

Maybe their sigil should be a shield inside the ultramarine U to symbolize the ring world.

Yeah I suppose, but I made this in under 10 minutes just to try the program out

looks great regardless, I always thought green looks great as a secondary color.

Thanks. And btw in 8th edition is it possible to take other Imperium units with space marines or am I breaking the keywords then like in AoS? Becuase I want to add some Skitarii and Admech to represent the Mechanicum stationed on the Ringworld

I think so, everyone usually lets me do it with guard but I don't know about space marine. Obviously the admechs won't be able to use special keywords though.

I thought Veeky Forums grew out of its OC phase.

>your dudes are ocdns
go away fag

I've named multiple chapters after rap titles, but I've got no histories for them.

I've got some tidbits for an Order of Sisters that I'm trying to base on Amazons, and could use some bouncing ideas, if folks don't mind.

These are the Night Marines (ah a-ah),
Fighters of the Night Marines (ah a-ah), Champions of the emprah (ah a-ah),
They're the masters of melee
and friendship
for everyone

wait, shit.

Lakrian Shieldbearers are a fleet-based chapter of the 25th founding. Being descendants of Rogal Dorn, they take pride in it by carrying storm shields into battle, which are used even by tactical marines. The most interesting thing about this chapter is the fact that they are supplied and assisted by a conclave of inquisitors, lead by Bill Atraksis. Some may even say that they are used as Atraksis' personal army, that he uses to destroy the enemies of humankind. The chapter came in contact with him during the liberation crusade of a demon-infested forge-world system, and became close allies afterwards, working together on many occasions and forming a strong bond.

This is all that I have for them. I use them as a space marine chapter in my Dark Heresy games, and I feel that they need some serious fleshing out.

I'm working on a house of Knights based on some Winged Hussars. So I just gotta ask Veeky Forums is that orbital Knight drop from DoW3 canon or possible? Because dynamic entry such as that is kind of my jam for big badass robots.

shrine jungle world?

Yeah, that'd be the idea for the home world, isolated basilica where the Sisterhood are based. Keep their domiciles out far from the more feudal level local inhabitants of the planet.

I was actually wondering if anyone could give me a second opinion on this idea I had for the repentia.

Ritual of Gorgos:
Due to the suspicious nature of their Mother Order, The sisters of the Harmonious Passion tend to have a larger than average number of the Sisters Repentia. Those sisters shamed by the weight of their sins, on the eve of their first battle in their new position, will inject a small, yet lethal toxin taken from a creature native to their world, The Crag Asp, passing it into their bloodstream. Under the effects of a natural injection, the subject would be dead within the week, yet, with the reduced amount, death will not come for years. Until then, over the course of time, the sister feels her body changing, her skin slowly hardening and shifting into a rocklike state of being. This process of slowed petrification makes it so that the woman may still serve on the battlefield, yet, despite the lack of armour, her skin now proves resistant to incoming damage, ensuring they may shrug off shots that would slay weaker beings. Most of the Repentia will die on the battlefield, their bodies still in the process of full petrification, yet, for those who last long enough to fully turn to stone, the Order recovers their death statue, to return to the homeworld. There, upon the banks of the river Thermodon, lies a garden filled with these statues, a testament to the benevolence of The Emperor, who grants forgiveness upon all at their end.

It only comes in Russian comrade. Good luck finding out what anything means.

How many ships is considered large for a Space Marine's fleet, and of what kind? Three battle barges is considered a rare amount, one strike cruiser for each company after that? Is size just made up by escorts then?

My chapter has a large fleet because of good relations with the Mechanicus and Imperial Navy, so they've got 3 barges, 7 strike cruisers (after losing a couple and one getting stolen by Trazyn), and lots of frigates including an unusually large amount of nova frigates, but since they were based in a system with shipyards, they've also got access to several light cruisers, a pair of Lunar cruisers and a Exorcist Grand Cruiser (that was more of a gift that they had to bust back into working order).

They also took three centuries and built themselves what's basically a Gloriana-tier ship after plundering a tomb-world's worth of necron tech and getting their Master of the Forge back from the warp after a century

they would of course need an extremely high amount of recruits, maybe they could be a penal legion style order instead of just having a strict mother order.

I suppose you should pick up the imperial knight codex and find out about the orbital drop thing, but if it is possible I would suggest they have a very good relation with the navy.

Alright fuckers. Post me one (ONE) custom chapter colour scheme that actually looks good. It has to be a chapter colour scheme that GW or some other company didn't come up with (so no Blood Ravens).

I meddled with the lore by having the Order based on this planet use the inhabitants as bargaining chips during their formation, to pour many of the children of the world into the Schola Progenium. In exchange, the Sisters can call first dibs on the assignment of any of the children they send in being assigned to the Sisters of Battle.

Every possible color scheme already exists.
fucker.

Tl;Dr they're like the Elysians/Harakoni but they're Space Marines

The inspiration was supposed to be Vietnam-era airborne Australians and Americans. But then I gave up when I realized I'd rather just collect Minotaurs instead and run them as Greek Hoplites. Still, any ideas on how to make that custom background make sense? Why would they be 100% airborne with no tanks? My initial plan was either that they'd be from a frozen shit hole planet with giant chasms everywhere, or maybe asteroid-based and de facto a fleet chapter.

It's not supposed to be. It doesn't make sense since a drop with nothing to slow your descent would pulverize anything you dropped.
Your dudes your rules though

Argent Champions(WIP name)
Fleet-based chapter
Specialized in raider interdiction & Air Assault
Recruits solely from voidborn populations.

They're not imperial guards so the reason for their founding is more important than their actual home world, a cool idea would be that they where founded mainly to fight a specific minor xenos race that lived on chasm world or asteroids. You can make up the minor xenos too because your guys where so effective that they managed to fully eradicate that race then possibly save some navymen and given land to the admechs.

Then with the help of their newfound allies in the navy and mechanicus they were able to maintain their air based traditions. I might steal your idea now good sir.

Rip thread

Op here, I was thinking my guys can be a few successions away from the Blood hammers, I know they are a vehicle assault successor of the Blood Angles, I don't know a lot about them other than that though and I can't find that much. They're so obscure I can't even find them listed as a blood angles successor chapter on the wiki.
