You don't need to do a version number if you don't want. Just the date and time would work -- anything that would make it easy to quickly tell if two pictures are the same and if not which is newer.
If you choose Alemany, do you have to pick Skip Birth to fight in the war or will you be inserted far enough in the past to be an adult / regain memories by the time the war starts?
